ISIS reaches Baghdad suburbs, US troops block the way to BGW Int’l Airport

In their push to completely wipe out the national government of Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, terrorist members of the al-Qaeda allied Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) Islamic Jihadist organization have made their way to the westernmost suburbs of Baghdad, as reported by CBS News on Oct. 10, 2014. CBS is also reporting that between the furthest advance of the ISIS column and the center of the nation’s capital sits Baghdad International Airport (BGW) where at least 300 American troops assigned as perimeter security, as reported by the McClatchy News Service on June 30, 2014.

  1. Hello there…….its me again…….Don Laird….

    I have never understood why, and its largely a rhetorical question, we don’t just walk in and lock down the entire Middle East and take the oil…….quit simple really, just take it.

    The alternative, and the reality we have been living for 50 years is that we, every time we use hydrocarbon fuel, are contributing to our own enslavement and or death at the hands of the Muslim and its Islam.

    Like I said, walk in……..and take it.

    Quite simple really.

      Unless you do what the Jews did in the Promised Land and commit genocide, telling everyone how evil, corrupt and debased the occupiers were, you will have a guerrilla army and protesters at home.

      Therefore, you’ll have to own the news-media and have a religious-entitlement culture.

      Getting there, Don, getting there.

      In the meantime, as we created royalty to become puppets to syphon the oil to us and disposed of Gadaffi and Saddam for going against us; it now looks like someone has done it to the West to prop up self-grandizing new-millionaires and discover we’ve been feeding the communists. But then it will be too late as we discover we live in a Promised Land and getting out is not an option.

        • You got that right, however it is looking like reality is going to pay them back, they are working to let Ebola loose in the US and the main areas that are at risk are the ones their voters live in.

Major General Ahmed Saddag was killed when the bomb targeted his convoy near the provincial capital Ramadi. In a separate attack, 22 Kurdish soldiers died in a triple car bomb attack in the eastern Diyala province.

    Islamic State militants have seized large parts of Iraq and Syria in recent months, pushing back Iraqi forces. A security source told Reuters that the police chief was on patrol inspecting security forces in the Al-Bu Risha area of Ramadi when two roadside bombs went off. Anbar province is the home of a growing insurgency by Sunni militants, including Islamic State.

    At at a government compound in Qara Tapah, north-east of Baghdad, three bombs killed 22 Kurds – many of them reported to be veteran fighters signing up for the battle against IS. A suicide bomber detonated his charge at the entrance to clear the way for two more car bombs that followed. The mayor of the town, Wahab Ahmed, says the attack was aimed at his office…”

    “Voting has begun in Bosnia in an election dominated by nationalist rhetoric and a stagnant economy. It comes nearly 20 years after the end of the devastating Bosnian war in which more than 100,000 people were killed. Tensions between Bosnia’s main ethnic groups – Muslims (Bosniaks), Serbs and Croats – remain high, and some groups have called for secession. The country is one of the poorest in Europe, with joblessness at 44% and youth unemployment even higher. Polls will close on Sunday afternoon and the first results are expected later on Sunday evening.

    It is the seventh election since the US-brokered Dayton peace agreement ended the 1992-1995 war between the main ethnic groups. In February, mass violent protests broke out in Bosnia, reflecting deep dissatisfaction with political elites and the high levels of corruption in the country. Analysts say protests could return if the new government does not tackle corruption and the spluttering economy.

    Bosnia is split into two “entities”, the Serb Republic (Republika Srpska) and the Muslim-Croat Federation, which are both under international supervision. The elections are for the regional parliaments of each entity, as well as for the state of Bosnia as a whole. Voters will also choose the three members of Bosnia’s joint presidency, which will be made up of a Croat, a Muslim and a Serb.

    Correspondents say the election campaign has been fought along nationalist lines, with each ethnic group calling for a different vision for the country. Bosnian Serbs have called for the dissolution of the state, the Croats have pushed for secession within Bosnia, and the Bosniak Muslims for unity between the groups. Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik said that his policy would be for the Serb Republic to be “less and less an entity and more a state”.

    Muslim leader Bakir Izetbegovic criticised both Croat and Serbian leaders for pursuing the politics of “referendums and divisions”. The country is seeking membership of the European Union, but has been hampered by its failure to meet EU targets for reform. The EU said on Friday said that a new government would be expected to “bring much needed reconciliation in society and politics… and close the gap with the rest of the region and ensure progress towards the EU”.”

    “A Texan health worker who treated Ebola victim Thomas Eric Duncan before he died is also infected with the virus, according to a preliminary test. The worker, whose name was not given, wore full protective gear when treating Duncan on his second visit to a Dallas hospital, an official told reporters.

    The new patient has been placed in an isolation ward and is said to be in a stable condition. If confirmed, this is the first known transmission of Ebola on US soil. Duncan, who caught the virus in his native Liberia, died on Wednesday.

    The current Ebola outbreak, concentrated in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone, has resulted in more than 8,300 confirmed and suspected cases, and at least 4,033 deaths.

    No details of the health worker’s identity or position at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital were given, in accordance with family wishes. Dr David Varga, of the Texas Health Resource, said the worker had been in full protective gear when providing care to Duncan during his second visit….”

  5. UK troops training Kurdish forces in Iraq, says MoD (BBC, Oct 12, 2014)

    “A “specialist team” of 12 UK soldiers is training Kurdish forces fighting Islamic State militants in Iraq, the Ministry of Defence has said.

    It said troops from the Yorkshire Regiment were training Iraqi Kurds to use UK-supplied heavy machine guns.

    The soldiers are expected to spend a week in Irbil, in Kurdish-controlled northern Iraq.

    Royal Air Force Tornado jets based in Cyprus have been flying combat missions over Iraq since September.

    The UK training mission comes amid heavy fighting between Syrian Kurds and IS forces in the town of Kobane, in Syria….”

    “The Ballad of the Nervous Turkey”…………..There is no joy in Turkeytown tonight, all my fine feathered friends are always just a little jittery at this time of year……..frustrated and flightless, earthbound and less than fleet of foot, all protests are for naught, they are destined for the pot……..the crimes of exquisite culinary pursuit committed……after the sweet potato and pumpkin pie the grief counselors move in to console those left behind as they watch their comrades served up all the next week, leftovers atop bread and smothered in gravy…… no consolation as feathered and fowl PTSD abounds on Old MacDonald’s Farm………for just around the corner awaits the delicious horrors of the Christmas feast……..hard times in the land of plenty……..

    While I’m at on this Thanksgiving eve……..on this Sunday as the morning sun kisses the Rockies…..as the flocks of timid fowl bound for southern climes, noisily wishing us well, take their leave…….as the mountain tops are kissed with their first dusting of snow……as the rivers run crystal and low…..as forests are ablaze with the colour, leaves curl, bid us once again, goodbye, fall and die …….here I mull over the thought of a glass of brandy to be served this evening, lifted high to toast the moon as she climbs a star strewn sky, lifted high to toast all those evenings of perplexed frustration and waxing theocratic-politico ad nauseam as I ask the ever expanding universe in all her blackness over and over and over and over……..why?
