4. Here is a rather dishonest lecture about the nature of terrorism. The speaker seems quite reasonable and decent and once he has established himself as such, he quite carefully edits out really important facts in evidence about the nature of terror today. One example is how he pretends the lack of religiosity of the families of the 911 hijackers means there is no islamic motive. What he likely knows and doesn’t say, is that the 911 hijackers all went to a hard core German mosque and fantasized about hookers in paradise. He also does moral equivalence with Christianity yet doesn’t mention that no Christian believer does what he claims Jesus allows for, namely death for apostasy. I could only get the first 40 seconds to play but you can download the lecture at the link and listen to the whole thing. It is apologetics and classic deflection from what is obviously Islamic motivated terror, but it does give you an idea of what we are up against.
A husband who strangled to death his pregnant wife two weeks after police arrested him for threatening to kill her with a hammer was sentenced to life imprisonment today.

#2 I don’t know if Nam is still a client of Russia but I know they are friendlier to Russia then to China. Actions like those of the Chinese are going to strain the Chinese Russian alliance if not break it apart. Russia needs the mineral resources of Nam almost as much as China does the difference is they are willing to buy them China is not trying to buy but to steal.
4/ Quiggin says the Koran is ‘essentially the rules of war’ and is exactly the same as the NATO charter.
I’ve never read the NATO charter, but I’m going to hazard it doesn’t have a clause that says, “Kill them wherever you find them…polytheism or disbelieving after one has believed in Allah is worse than killing.” Or “Fight them until there is no more disbelief and polytheism and religion is all for Allah.” Or “strike them over their necks,” those who have disbelieved, “and smite over all their fingers and toes.”
Following an annoying and needlessly long anecdote about the importance of context, Quiggin mocks – mocks – no-nothing people who tell him ‘Muslims say it’s okay to kill infidels!’ Then he gives what he says are the criteria that must be met:
1. Muslims must be living in a Muslim majority nation
2. Be invaded by infidels
3. Negotiate with those infidels
4. Fail in those negotiations.
He says this with great condescension and authority, yet offers no support from Muslim authorities, no discussion of defensive vs. offensive jihad, no reference to Islamic interpretation or law, no explanation of why so many jihadis don’t seem to get it, why they misunderstand these criteria, no hint how the Muslim Arabs ever managed to get out of Medina in the first place, let alone the Arabian Peninsula, if they had to sit around and wait to be invaded by people who wouldn’t treat with them.
There is that ludicrous Jesus analogy. And he implies that Osama bin Laden was angry because he was weak! He says Al Qaeda’s ‘argument’ is not theological. That Islamic terrorists aren’t motivated by religion – religion is just some rhetoric they come up with after the fact.
This is a deeply dishonest presentation. It will be interesting to watch as Quiggin comes under fire for his report on the Muslim Brotherhood in Canada and to see how he fields the questions and criticism.
