Why I am leaving the University of Alabama: Some internet sleuths have discovered that I will be leaving my faculty position in the Department of Geological Sciences after this semester so I thought I should tell you why. As with most large decisions, the reasons…

…are mainly personal. COVID made me realize that we were really far from our families in CA and the travel on our elderly parents was taking a toll. The result was that our children were not seeing their grandparents very often. As a Polish immigrant I know what it’s like…

…to live far from family and I started to resent myself for choosing my career over my family’s time together. Furthermore, over the last decade or so, but especially the last few years, the obsession with universities and grant-funding institutions…

…on immutable characteristics of faculty and students and the push for equity in science above all else has dramatically changed the profession of an academic professor. The rise of illiberalism in the name of DEI is the antithesis of the principles that universities…

…were founded on. These are no longer places that embrace the freedom of exchanging ideas and will punish those that go against the narrative. Although I had worked from an early age to earn a Ph.D. and become a professor, like my father, I feel the profession…

Live: Ukraine war testimony to be given to US Congress

US officials are set to give testimony on the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia as the conflict enters its twelfth month.

Victoria Nuland, the under-secretary of state for political affairs will address the committee, along with assistant administrator for Europe and Eurasia Erin McKee.

The assistant secretary of defence for international security affairs with the DOD, Celeste Wallander, will also be speaking.

The full hearing of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee comes after Joe Biden confirmed more tanks will be sent for Ukrainian troops.

Thirty-one new M1 Abrams tanks will be sent to the war-torn country to help Ukraine bolster its defences against Russia.

Eight M88 recovery vehicles will also be sent to help tow tanks that have been damaged or stalled in battle.

Mr Biden said the tank pledge shows “commitment to Ukraine and our confidence in the skill of the Ukrainian forces.”

Sabrina Singh stated on Thursday during a press briefing that Washington is using the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) to supply Kiev with Abrams tanks as they are not “available in excess in our US stocks.”

Singh explained that as Washington wants to provide Kiev with new Abrams tanks, more specifically the advanced M1A2 variant, the procurement has to go through USAI and it will take months before they are delivered. She further reiterated that these tanks will also “require training, maintenance and sustainment.”

Singh noted that such military equipment is not “symbolic,” underlining that this “is a real capability that will certainly give Ukraine an upper edge on the battlefield.”

  2. Vermont Supreme Court Upholds Measure That Allows Non-Citizens To Vote
    By Mike LaChance
    Published January 26, 2023 at 6:45am

In 2021, Democrats in Vermont granted non-citizens the right to vote in municipal elections. Republicans filed lawsuits and the legal battle went all the way to the state’s highest court.

Now the Vermont Supreme Court has upheld the measure.

    The Associated Press reported:

Vermont Supreme Court rules in favor of noncitizen voting

Noncitizen residents may continue to vote in municipal elections in Vermont’s capital city of Montpelier, the state Supreme Court ruled Friday, stating that such voting in local elections doesn’t violate the state constitution.

In its decision on an appeal the higher court upheld a lower court ruling, dismissing the claim.

The statute allowing noncitizens to vote in local Montpelier elections does not violate Chapter II, § 42 because that constitutional provision does not apply to local elections,” the Supreme Court wrote.

In 2021, the Democrat-controlled Vermont Legislature approved two separate bills to change the municipal charters of Montpelier and Winooski, the most diverse community in the state, to allow legal residents who are not U.S. citizens to vote in local elections. Republican Gov. Phil Scott vetoed the measures, but the Legislature overrode his vetoes.

  3. Crushed Bug “Additive” Is Now Included In Pizza, Pasta, & Cereals Across The EU

Authored by Paul Joseph Watson via Summit News,

As of yesterday, a food additive made out of powdered crickets began appearing in foods from pizza, to pasta to cereals across the European Union.

    Yes, really.

Defatted house crickets are on the menu for Europeans across the continent, without the vast majority of them knowing it is now in their food.

“This comes thanks to a European Commission ruling passed earlier this month,” reports RT.

“As per the decision, which cited the scientific opinion of the European Food Safety Authority, the additive is safe to use in a whole range of products, including but not limited to cereal bars, biscuits, pizza, pasta-based products, and whey powder.”

But don’t worry, because the crickets first have to be checked to make sure they “discard their bowel content” before being frozen.

    Lovely stuff.

Critics suggested that once bugs become widely accepted as a food additive, their consumption will become normalized across the board.

Hi Brian, to me it looks like nothing in his bio adds up.

Here are some inconsistencies and strangenesses about all the info on Walker you provided: (I’m of the opinion that he might very well be a fake, so we need to be very very careful – I write for Brownstone, in case you need my Covid warrior bonafides.)

      1) Why all the aliases? I’ve never met a legitimate doctor with so many different name combos

      2) in the May 18, 2020 article about Covid treatments, his name as an author is listed without an MD (whereas one of the other authors has it), although he supposedly graduated from Med School in 2018.

      2) His date of NYS licensure (which needs to be verified – I’m not going to do that now, but somebody should) is October 2021, right in the middle of when he’s supposed to be working as a consultant at Pfizer. What’s that about?

      3) all his research is on urology and is very very basic – not someone a recruiter would look at and consider a candidate for a brilliant research or consulting career. Of course, there the equity and inclusion factor, but still…

      4) On the match list from 2018 it says he went to USC, but his resume says UT and Yale, no mention of USC

      5) the match list says he matched with a program at Tufts Medical Center and the USNews profile says he did a urology residency there 2018-2020 but his resume says he was a resident at Mass General (a Harvard hospital) June 2018-Nov 2019.

      6) Urology residencies are extremely hard to get into and are FIVE YEARS long.

Did he drop out after a year?

      7) The timing of his various academic and professional positions doesn’t add up. On his resume under experience it says 6 years, but he only worked as a consultant starting in November 2021 and had a year of work 2013-2014, presumably before medical school (whichever one he might have attended – or not?)

      8) none of the people he follows or who follow him are people of color. You might say this is a racist comment, but in my experience with friends who are in different racial communities, there is usually at least a 50% representation of their own racial group in their social media friend community, and usually much higher.

      9) his pinterest profile has nothing that looks like he actually pinned – all totally generic

      10) There is absolutely nothing about this guy before 2019 that says top pharma exec in charge or worldwide operations. Highly, highly suspicious.

      • Pfizer Director Physically Assaults James O’Keefe and Veritas Staff, Destroys iPad Showing Undercover Recordings About “Mutating” Covid Virus – NYPD Responds (VIDEO)
        By Cristina Laila
        Published January 26, 2023 at 5:05pm

Jordon Trishton Walker, Pfizer Director of Research and Development, physically assaulted James O’Keefe and Veritas staffers on Thursday.

James O’Keefe confronted Walker at a restaurant and showed him the undercover recordings about Pfizer’s plans to potentially mutate the Covid virus.

You f*cked up!” Walker shouted before destroying the iPad showing the PV undercover recordings about the “mutating” Covid virus.

Project Veritas on Wednesday night released explosive video of Jordon Trishton Walker, Pfizer Director of Research and Development, Strategic Operations, admitting the pharma giant is exploring ‘mutating’ Covid-19 via ‘directed evolution’ so the company can continue to profit off of vaccines.

    • JAN 26 2023 – NEWSWEEK – Fact Check: Does Project Veritas Video Show Pfizer Is Mutating COVID?

A hugely viral video that purportedly shows a senior Pfizer employee talking about COVID-19 vaccine experiments has exploded across social media, gathering millions of views and sparking speculation.

Released by Project Veritas, the video includes what it says is undercover footage of a conversation detailing COVID mutation projects, designed to pre-emptively research potential new strains of the virus before they may find root naturally.

In wake of this, many social media users have started to claim that the video proves that Pfizer is conducting these experiments actively.

Multiple claims on social media, posted on January 26, 2023, suggest that Pfizer is currently mutating COVID variants in order to produce vaccines for future sale.

The claims are based on a Project Veritas video, also posted on January 26, 2023, which on Twitter alone has been viewed more than 8.6 million times.

Among them was a tweet, with more than 61,000 engagements, from Project Veritas CEO and founder James O’Keefe, who wrote: “Pfizer director on camera saying they are ‘mutating’ COVID-19 Virus to increase infectiousness. UNREAL!”

It’s worth noting that Project Veritas, which describes itself as a “journalism enterprise”, is a controversial organization that has previously produced investigations subsequently labeled as false or unevidenced by fact-checkers and other media.

Among other stories, in 2017, The Washington Post reported that O’Keefe had tried to dupe the paper into publishing a false story about former Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court Roy Moore.

In 2020, Project Veritas claimed that Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) was linked to a “cash for ballots voter fraud scheme.” An investigation by USA Today found no evidence of such a scheme.

In 2021, it also claimed that during the New Jersey gubernatorial election an election worker illegally allowed someone who said they weren’t a U.S. citizen to fill out a ballot, which PolitiFact reported was false.

Whatever the facts are about its latest video, some of the claims that it has inspired misrepresent the content of the video itself.

The video shows a conversation between an unidentified reporter and an interviewee that Project Veritas identifies as “Jordon Trishton Walker, Pfizer Director of Research and Development – Strategic Operations and mRNA Scientific Planning”.

The film is divided into a series of clips with what appears to be the same interviewee each time.

In the first set of clips, the reporter asks: “What is Pfizer doing, I guess to optimize, you know, the vaccines now?”

The interviewee replies: “Oh, we actually had a meeting about that today. So, there’s a lot.”

The video then cuts to an interstitial scene with O’Keefe before the interviewee continues.

“We’re exploring, like, you know how the virus keeps mutating? Well, one of the things we’re exploring is like, why don’t we just mutate it ourselves, so we could focus on, create, preemptively develop new vaccines, right?” the interviewee said.

A subtitle in the video claims the interviewee says “So, we have to do that.” However, the interviewee covers their mouth at this point and it’s not clear whether that’s what they said.

They continue: “If we’re going to do that though there’s a risk of like, as you could imagine, no one wants to be having a pharma company mutating ******* viruses.

“So, we’re like, ‘Do we want to do this?’ So that’s like one of the things we’re considering, for like, the future, like maybe we can like, create new versions of the vaccines and things like that.”

The interviewer asks: “Okay. So, Pfizer ultimately is thinking about mutating COVID?”

The interviewee replies: “Well that is not what we say to the public, no. That’s why it was, it was a thought that came up in a meeting and we were like: ‘Why do we not?’

“It was like, we’re going to consider that with more discussions. That exactly, actually. We’re like: ‘Wait a minute, like, people won’t like that.'”

O’Keefe appears again, clarifying the theoretical nature of the conversation, saying: “That’s right, it appears that Pfizer is internally discussing the possibility of mutating the COVID virus themselves, in order to tailor a vaccine to sell to the public.”

Details are then discussed, during the hidden camera footage, about how such experiments could be conducted with monkeys.

O’Keefe then introduces another clip, before which he claims the interviewee later “describes those experiments as if they are ongoing and not simply a hypothetical discussion.”

In this next clip, which appears to be in a different location, the Project Veritas reporter asks: “So, I mean, when Is Pfizer going to implement the mutation of all these viruses?”

The interviewee responds: “I don’t know, it depends on how the experiments work out because this is just like, something we’re trying, right?”

Immediately, an edit to another clip is added, in which the interviewee says: “It sounds like gain-of-function to me.”

Gain-of-function research is a term described by the scientific journal Nature as: “At its most innocuous…mutations that give a gene, RNA or protein new abilities or expression patterns.”

It, as Nature points out, has been a hot-button topic whose terminology is not consistently understood.

      The interviewee replies: “I don’t know, it’s a little bit different. I think it’s different. It’s like this, it’s definitely not gain-of-function.”

Throughout this section, there are a series of quick edits, which means it’s not entirely clear if the conversation is about gain-of-function in relation to COVID research (although, by appearances, that seems to be the intention).

Another cut occurs, to the interviewee: “We’re not supposed to do gain-of-function with the viruses. They’d rather we not but we do these selected structure mutations to try to see if we can make them more potent.

“So, there is research ongoing about that. I don’t know how that’s going to work. There better not be more outbreaks because, Jesus Christ.”

Here, it’s possible that the “viruses” they are talking about are COVID (particularly as “outbreaks” are mentioned) but it’s not certain, particularly with the editing.

The video cuts again to the reporter asking: “So, tell me more, what’s developing with the whole, you know, virus mutation process?”

The interviewee says: “Well, they’re still kinds of conducting the experiments on it but it seems like from what I’ve heard, they’re kind of optimizing it, but they’re going slow cause everyone’s very cautious, like, you know, obviously they don’t want to accelerate it too much.

“But I think they’re also just trying to do it as an exploratory thing because you obviously don’t want to advertise that you are figuring out future mutations.”

At least in part recognized by Project Veritas, the tone of the conversation is around discussion and not on projects that are ongoing.

Even when O’Keefe claims that the second set of clips shows the interviewee talking about experiments beyond theoretical discussion, it’s not clear what type of experiments the interviewee was referring to.

He may have been referring to experiments on monkeys or it may be other research on small animal subjects (such as flies) or preliminary research or simulated mutations which don’t involve live specimens.

In any case, the video clip does not provide the information for us to be certain.

Another issue is that we do not have the full raw footage to assess whether the subject of the conversation changed or the terms it was couched in.

Newsweek has asked Project Veritas for this footage and a full transcript of the conversation and contacted Pfizer about the interviewee and details of any of the experiments described or inferred.

Whatever the authenticity of the video or the factuality of its content, some of the comments shared online in response to it are misleading characterizations of what it shows.

It does not clearly state that “mutation” experiments are occurring with live subjects at Pfizer and much of the interviewee’s answers are in hypothetical terms.

As the film was posted recently there may yet be more information forthcoming. Until then, however, the speculative claims that Newsweek has identified on social media are not a fair reflection of what the video shows.

Pfizer has been the subject of many misleading claims since the global outbreak of COVID-19 and the company’s subsequent development of a vaccine for the disease.

Last year, Newsweek found social media posts falsely suggested that the U.K. government had changed its advice for pregnant women using the vaccine developed by the company. Its vaccine was also falsely linked to claims that it caused hepatitis in children.

      The Ruling

In the Project Veritas video, the interviewee, who is quoted as a Pfizer employee, says there are ongoing discussions about engineering “mutations” of COVID so that preemptive vaccines, for variants that may occur in nature, could be developed.

However, the discussions are spoken about in theoretical terms.

While Project Veritas’ James O’Keefe claims that the interviewee moves on to talk about these experiments as if they are ongoing, there is not enough information in the film to be certain whether he is talking about theoretical experiments or other preliminary research, or if these directly involve or are related to COVID.

At the time of writing, Pfizer is yet to comment on the Project Veritas video or the claims made within it.

Therefore, we currently rate the claims that Pfizer is mutating COVID as unverified.

COVID-19 misinformation cost at least 2,800 lives and $300M, new report says

Report examines how vaccine hesitancy affected COVID-19 infections, hospitalizations and deaths

The spread of COVID-19 misinformation in Canada cost at least 2,800 lives and $300 million in hospital expenses over nine months of the pandemic, according to estimates in a new report out Thursday.

The report — released by the Council of Canadian Academies (CCA), an independent research organization that receives federal funding — examined how misinformation affected COVID infections, hospitalizations and deaths between March and November of 2021.

The authors suggest that misinformation contributed to vaccine hesitancy for 2.3 million Canadians. Had more people been willing to roll up their sleeves when a vaccine was first available to them, Canada could have seen roughly 200,000 fewer COVID cases and 13,000 fewer hospitalizations, the report says.

Alex Himelfarb, chair of the expert panel that wrote the report, said that its estimates are very conservative because it only examined a nine-month period of the pandemic.

“It’s pretty clear that tens of thousands of hospitalizations did occur because of misinformation,” Himelfarb told reporters. “We are confident that those are conservative estimates.”

Himelfarb also said the $300 million estimate covers only hospital costs — the study didn’t include indirect costs associated with factors such as delayed elective surgeries and lost wages.

A number of studies have found that getting vaccinated can reduce the risk of COVID infection and hospitalization. But only 80 per cent of Canadians have been fully vaccinated, according to the latest data from Health Canada.

The CCA report defines two groups of vaccine-hesitant individuals: those who were reluctant to get a shot and those who refused. It says that reluctant individuals expressed concerns about vaccines in general and questioned the speed with which COVID vaccines were developed.

Vaccine refusers, on the other hand, were more likely to believe that the pandemic is a hoax or greatly exaggerated, the report says.

Beyond the health impacts, misinformation is depriving people of their right to be informed, said Stephan Lewandowsky, a professor at the University of Bristol’s School of Psychological Science in the U.K. and one of the report’s authors.

“In a democracy, the public should be able to understand the risks we’re facing … and act on that basis,” he said. “But if you’re drenched in misinformation … then you’re distorting the public’s ability — and you’re denying people the right — to be informed about the risks they’re facing.”

The report says misinformation relies on simple messages meant to evoke emotional reactions. It says misinformation is often presented as coming from a credible source, such as a scientific publication.

Ideology can play a role: authors

The authors also suggest that misinformation can be driven by someone’s personal worldview, ideology or political identity.

“Denial of collective action problems is going to be very [prevalent] among people who don’t like collective action,” Himelfarb said, noting that misinformation can flow into political messaging.

“When misinformation becomes tied up with identity and ideology, political leaders will often look to misinformation as a means of building their coalition,” he said. He did not point to any single politician.

People’s Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier, a vocal opponent of COVID-19 public health restrictions and vaccine passports, appeared to unify a portion of the electorate that views pandemic policies as government overreach when he finished with roughly five per cent of the vote in the 2021 election.

Lewandowsky said social media can contribute to the spread of misinformation, but policies to counter such misinformation — such as requiring labels on inaccurate information — could help.

Himelfarb said it’s important to balance tackling misinformation with freedom of expression.

“Finding that sweet spot is a challenge,” he said.

Lewandowsky said one way to strike a balance would be to make sure reliable information is more widely available and to give people tools to identify misinformation.

“The people who do misinform us have a certain repertoire of rhetorical techniques … and we can identify those,” he said.

    • Rubio Sends Letter to Pfizer CEO on Alleged Gain-of-Function Research
      JAN 26 2023

An investigative report suggests that Pfizer may be conducting gain-of-function research, which it dubs “directed evolution” research to mutate the SARS-CoV-2 virus to create additional, more potent variants and vaccines to combat future variants. This type of research, similar to gain-of-function research, has long been controversial, and is suspected to be the cause of the COVID-19 pandemic.

U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) sent a letter to Albert Bourla, the President and CEO of Pfizer, following the release of a video showing Pfizer’s director of research and development casually discussing the company’s manipulation of the SARS-Cov-2 virus for company profit.

“Whether it’s gain of function research, or selected structure mutations through directed evolution, as Mr. Walker claimed would occur, any effort to make a virus more transmittable and deadlier is careless and dangerous. Further, Mr. Walker stated that Pfizer is willing to engage in this dangerous research because COVID and its variants are ‘a cash cow’ for the company and regulators will go easy on their efforts because a significant percentage of government officials aim to work for Pfizer and other biopharmaceutical companies and do not want to compromise their future job prospects.” — Senator Rubio

      Want more information?

The full text of the letter is below.

      Dear Dr. Bourla:

I write in response to troubling reports on Pfizer’s intention to mutate the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID) virus through gain-of-function, or “directed evolution,” as detailed by Pfizer Director of Research and Development, Jordan Walker. As has been proven time and time again, attempts to mutate a virus, particularly one as potent as COVID, are dangerous. If the claims detailed in the video are true, Pfizer has put its desire for profit over the concern of national and global health and must hold itself accountable.

In a video released by Project Veritas on January 25, 2023, Mr. Walker laid out Pfizer’s plans to develop new vaccines for future variants of COVID by mutating the virus through directed evolution, a process that uses protein engineering to impose natural selection on a living organism or other biological materials, including viruses. Though he claimed the research is currently “exploratory,” he detailed how the research would proceed, such as how scientists would inject the mutated viruses into monkeys and collect serial samples from other monkeys who are infected.

Whether it’s gain of function research, or selected structure mutations through directed evolution, as Mr. Walker claimed would occur, any effort to make a virus more transmittable and deadlier is careless and dangerous. Further, Mr. Walker stated that Pfizer is willing to engage in this dangerous research because COVID and its variants are “a cash cow” for the company and regulators will go easy on their efforts because a significant percentage of government officials aim to work for Pfizer and other biopharmaceutical companies and do not want to compromise their future job prospects.

As a company that claims to “innovate every day to make the world a healthier place,” these claims from your leadership charged with research and development are alarming. As the American people deserve to know, I request that you provide the following information:

      1. What efforts is Pfizer currently, or planning to, engage in to mutate the SARS-CoV-2 virus?

      2. Does Pfizer intend to continue mutating the SARS-CoV-2 virus through gain-of-function, or directed evolution research, with the purpose of creating new vaccines before the variant is present in the greater population?

Bollards set on fire, thrown in bins, driven over, planters vandalised and damaged.

The barriers marking out Oxford’s local traffic neighbourhoods – or LTNs – have come under repeated attack since they were introduced xxxx – and tonight a freedom of information request by ITV Meridian reveals that the county council has spent £73,000 of taxpayers’ money repairing that damage.

Even those who don’t agree with the destruction, say they understand the anger caused by what perhaps the most divisive policy introduced in the city in decades.

EPIC FAIL: Biden Judicial Nominee Can’t Answer Basic Questions on the Constitution (Video)
    By Kristinn Taylor
    Published January 26, 2023 at 1:00pm

Joe Biden has made it a hallmark of his presidency to nominate more women and “people of color” to the the federal judiciary than any other president. Sometimes that means not nominating the most informed people for the bench, or those who struggle to answer the most basic questions of constitutional scholarship–or even humanity–as long as the nominee checks certain boxes on the Biden qualification list even if their ignorance leaves senators scratching their heads.

Such as Biden Supreme Court nominee Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson who famously said in her confirmation hearing last year that she could not define what a woman is.

When Biden nominated Washington State Judge Charnelle Bjelkengren to the federal bench last September, the White House touted her diversity and boasted that she and the other nominees were “extraordinarily qualified, experienced, and devoted to the rule of law and our Constitution.” (Note, the nomination was resubmitted on Monday for the current Senate term.)

The President is announcing the nominations of eight new federal judicial nominees and his intent to nominate nine federal judicial nominees —all of whom are extraordinarily qualified, experienced, and devoted to the rule of law and our Constitution.

These choices also continue to fulfill the President’s promise to ensure that the nation’s courts reflect the diversity that is one of our greatest assets as a country—both in terms of personal and professional backgrounds.

For example, if confirmed, this slate would include:

The first women of color to serve on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Washington and the first Black women to serve on a United States District Court in the state of Washington
The first South Asian judge to serve on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York
The second Hispanic man to serve on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York
The only LGBT Article III judge actively serving on the United States District Court for the Northern District of California

Biden’s latest embarrassing nominee to the federal court could not answer simple questions that go to the heart of being a federal judge that were posed to her by Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday. State Judge Charnelle Bjelkengren, nominated to be a U.S. District Judge For The Eastern District Of Washington state, was utterly stumped on questions about her knowledge of the Constitution and judicial philosophy. The other nominees struggled to answer Kennedy’s question on originalism but were not the facepalm embarrassment of Bjelkengren.

Kennedy, “Judge, on the far end, tell me what Article V of the Constitution does?”

Bjelkengren, “Article V is not coming to mind at the moment.”

Kennedy, “Okay. How about Article II?”

    Bjelkengren, “Neither is Article II.”

Kennedy, “Do you know what purposivism is?”

Bjelkengren, “In my twelve years as an assistant attorney general, in my nine years as a judge, I was not faced with that precise question. We are the highest trial court in Washington state, so I’m frequently faced with issues that I’m not familiar with, and I thoroughly review the law, I research, and apply the law to the facts presented to me.”

Kennedy, “Well, you’re going to be faced with it if you’re confirmed, I can assure you of that.”

Kennedy (a few minutes later): “Judge on the far end, can you tell me what the independent state legislature theory is? I’m just asking you not what your opinion of it, what is it–it’s before the Supreme Court now.”

Bjelkengren, “In my twelve years as an assistant attorney general, and…”

    Kennedy, “Right (heavy sigh).”

Bjelkengren, “That doctrine was never presented to me.”

    Short version:

Fox News reported on Bjelkengren’s background (excerpt):

Judge Charnelle Bjelkengren, of Spokane County Superior Court in Washington State, was nominated by President Biden to serve on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington.

…Bjelkengren is a graduate of Mankato State University and received her law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law in 2000. She previously served as an assistant attorney general for the Washington Attorney General’s Office.

In 2013, Bjelkengren became an administrative judge for the Office of Administrative Hearings in Washington State.

In 2019, Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee appointed Bjelkengren to the Spokane County Superior Court, and she became the first female African American judge in Eastern Washington.

Helpful links and explainers for state Judge Bjelkengren:

    Article V: Amending the Constitution

    Article II: The Executive Branch

“Purposive theory is a version of interperting the law that suggests that common law courts interpret the legislation more on the purpose of the legislation over the exact letter of the law.” (Ballotpedia)

Columbia Law Q&A with elections expert Richard Briffault on the independent legislature theory (excerpt):

What is the independent state legislature theory that Moore v. Harper is seeking to affirm?

The independent state legislature theory grows out of the very specific language in the Constitution, in Article I, Section 4: “The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof.”

The state legislature writes the rules for the election of members of Congress.

There’s further language that says that Congress can change those rules: “But the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.”

The theory suggests that when the Constitution says “the legislature,” it means the legislature somehow independent of the rest of state government. The theory is a device designed to limit the ability of state courts, when they interpret state statutes or the state constitution, from imposing constraints or setting aside provisions of state legislation regarding federal elections.

In other words, if a state court says that something that the state legislature did regarding election law is unconstitutional under the state constitution, only the Supreme Court can reverse that and strike it down.

The response is that legislatures don’t exist outside of the full structure of state government, including the state constitutions that set them up and authorize them, which also includes state Supreme Courts.

However, the current Supreme Court gives a lot of weight to the literal constitutional text. They might make the point that in other places in the Constitution, it talks about “the states,” And here it talks about “the legislature.” That might mean only that the Founders wanted to make sure it was the legislature, not the governor, that acted for the state with respect to federal elections. But the text does say the legislature.

  9. The Genesis of the Revelation of Biden’s Classified Document Crimes Is “the Hunter Laptop” – Kash Patel
    By Joe Hoft
    Published January 26, 2023 at 11:30am

Kash Patel shared in an op-ed yesterday that the genesis of revelation of Biden’s classified document crimes is the Hunter Biden laptop.

In 2022, we first approached the topic of Presidential records when President Trump’s home was raided in an unnecessary, unprecedented, and unlawful action by the corrupt FBI. We soon found out that the President had the ultimate right to take whatever records he wished upon leaving the White House. This was well defined in the Presidential Records Act. He did nothing wrong.

Then early this month the corrupt DOJ announced that they had found classified top-secret files in Biden’s possession that were illegally in his possession for years since he was Vice President. VP Biden did not have the rights provided to the President when he obtained these documents and therefore they attorney Mike Davis claimed they were stolen.

The Biden Regime has consistently demonstrated that conservatives are their primary enemies and will utilize various tools to silence them. A report today from Just The News claims the Regime is now adopting tactics formerly used against the Islamic State to censor conservatives.

According to the report, the Regime is colluding with Big Tech, private firms, and academia to use military-grade artificial intelligence to identify so-called “misinformation” online and replace it with the Regime’s preferred narrative. This project is primarily focused on patriots concerned about stolen elections and the safety of vaccines.

The funding for this endeavor goes through the National Science Foundation (NSF). The NSF has already provided millions of dollars in government grants toward restricting law-abiding Americans’ First Amendment rights.

The Gateway Pundit has consistently sounded the alarm on faulty election security and questioned the efficacy and safety of the COVID shots. One can safely assume TGP and other like-minded conservative outlets are squarely in the Regime’s crosshairs.

Mac Isaac offered to help Hunter but when Hunter never came back for the one laptop left with Mac Isaac, the laptop became Mac Isaac’s. Soon after this, Joe Biden decided to run for President and Mac Isaac knew he was in possession of a hornet’s nest.

After Hunter refused to come back and take possession of his laptop the ownership of the laptop became Mac Isaac’s. At this point, Mac Isaac decided to see all that was on it. What a revelation he found.

Documents of all sorts were on the laptop as well as seedy pictures and videos and text messages downloaded from Hunter’s phone.

Eventually, Mac Isaac handed the laptop over to the FBI after numerous attempts to have them come and get it. But Mac Isaac still had the backups from the laptop. They were his.

Mac Isaac was asked in the interview today if he had any thoughts after the recent revelations of the Bidens being in possession of top-secret classified documents. Mac Isaac noted that one item from the laptop struck him in particular. This is when Mac Isaac dropped a bomb.

Mac Isaac recently released his book on the story behind the Hunter Biden laptop. The book can be purchased here.

Mac Isaac said that one email, in particular, came to mind. He discusses this email in his book. The email was sent from Hunter Biden to his friend and fellow Board member at Burisma, Devon Archer. This is discussed in Mac Isaac’s chapter on Burisma.

  20. Eastman faces disbarment push in California
The chief trial counsel for the State Bar of California contends the lawyer violated rules of professional conduct as he pushed fringe legal theories aimed at keeping Donald Trump in power.

The California bar’s top disciplinary official is seeking the disbarment of John Eastman, an architect of Donald Trump’s bid to subvert the 2020 election, for what he describes as a “strategy, unsupported by facts or law, to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 presidential election.”

George Cardona, the chief trial counsel for the State Bar of California, contended that Eastman violated rules of professional conduct at least 11 times as he pushed fringe legal theories aimed at keeping Trump in power despite his loss in the election

Cardona’s 35-page filing with the State Bar Court contends that Eastman pushed claims of election fraud or misconduct even though “there was no evidence upon which a reasonable attorney would rely” to support those contentions.

“Nevertheless, from on or about December 9, 2020, and continuing to at least on or about January 6, 2021, respondent continued to work with Trump and others to promote the idea that the outcome of the election was in question and had been stolen from Trump,” the attorney wrote.

In a statement, Eastman attorney Randall Miller said Eastman disputed “every aspect” of the bar charges against him.

“Any lawyer engaged to provide his or her legal assessment in a dynamic, consequential, and often emotional arena should be deeply troubled by the notion that a licensing authority (bar) can take their license if they do not like the lawyer’s advice, or find the advocacy distasteful,”
