Here is a link to the VladTepesBlog social media Mastodon Pod. Please feel free to check it out and sign up for an account if you are sufficiently annoyed with Twitter and Facebook to try something new.

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Last week I posted in comments a little documentary about the town of Cobalt, Ontario. They say they never found the motherload, and that some day the mining companies will come back in earnest.

Few people–least of all the watermelons–admit to the devastating impact that carbon-zero insanity has on people and the environment. Armies of cheap child labour hidden in far-off Africa make the green dream come alive. It is a case of out of sight so out of the minds of woke hypocrites who parade around western cities in their virtue-signalling electric cars, lording their moral high ground over the rest of us. Fact is, the whole green dream, from windmills to solar panels and EVs, runs on batteries, and that the dream in its entirety is a derivative of oil, which is a most inconvenient truth.

  4. ctv news – Canada’s top doctor on preparing for the next battle with COVID-19, and future epidemics

    + VIDEO

Canada’s chief public health officer says COVID-19 is still circulating at a “relatively high level” and other strains of influenza may surge in the new year.

At the same time, governments need to invest in preparing for and preventing future epidemics, Dr. Theresa Tam says.

In a year-end interview with The Canadian Press, Tam urged Canadians to “remain vigilant” and said what happens next with COVID-19 and flu depends largely on people taking precautions for the holidays — including staying up to date with vaccinations, masking indoors in crowded conditions or when seeing vulnerable family members and staying home when not feeling well.

“I always say that, you know, we own the situation,” she said. “We can make the decision and influence the trajectory of the pandemic curve. We know what we could do to reduce our risks, particularly when the hospitals are so pressured.”

Tam said it’s also important to remember that the antiviral drug Paxlovid is available for people who do get sick to decrease their risk of severe illness and hospitalization.

“I would advise people, especially (those) at high risk, to think ahead,” she said.

“Plan ahead with your health professionals, know where you can access Paxlovid and know how you can get your rapid test or get testing done if you should get sick. That will ensure that you can get access to the drug as fast as possible.”

The virus that causes COVID-19 continues to evolve, Tam said, and she’s eyeing a surge of COVID-19 cases during Australia’s summer right now to try to predict what it might do in this hemisphere. It’s too early to say whether further booster shots might be necessary, she said, but Canadian health experts will “regroup in the new year” with other experts internationally to come up with further guidance.

“The general good news is that even when cases surge, ICU admissions and deaths are relatively low, so this is what we need to track — because right now our overall goal is to reduce serious outcomes,” she said.

As for influenza, the H3N2 strain that has sent many children and seniors to hospital “spiked very fast and early,” and it’s possible that it could come down quickly, Tam said.

But she’s watching to see if the other Influenza A strain — H1N1 — emerges, as well as Influenza B, which could come later in the flu season and “affect children in particular.”

As we manage these diseases, Tam said we need to improve our readiness for more epidemics to come.

“(The COVID-19 pandemic) is one of the most teachable moments, I think, in our collective lifetimes,” she said.

Although Canada and other countries may have been good at “ratcheting up response” to the crisis, it’s become clear that “prevention and preparedness” needs more attention.

“There’s much more investment when… the house is on fire and putting out the fire than there is to build the fire stations and get prepared and get rehearsed ahead of time, even for a rare event,” Tam said.

Factors like climate change, which affects the way animals and humans interact, can lead to more disease transmission and epidemics “might not be so rare,” she said.

“We need to be prepared,” Tam said. “I’m not talking about just Canada, (I’m talking) globally.”

That preparedness includes a global approach to health and “better data and surveillance systems to monitor viruses and other harms that could impact both human… and animal health and the environment.

“And that gives you an earlier signal, perhaps, to reduce and mitigate viruses or other pathogens that can affect humans.”

Another element of future disease prevention is to pay more attention to “the hidden pandemic” of antimicrobial resistance, Tam said.

The World Health Organization has identified antimicrobial resistance, which happens when bacteria and viruses no longer respond to antibiotic and antiviral medications, as a major threat to human health.

“If antibiotics don’t work, we are in a situation a bit like (we were) the beginning of this pandemic, where we have no effective countermeasures,” Tam said.

These kinds of threats were difficult to explain to decision-makers before COVID-19 struck, she said.

Public health has been “underappreciated and I think underinvested,” Tam said.

But now that governments have been involved in responding to a pandemic, “they understand a bit more about what public health does and the importance of public health.”

A big part of public health’s role, Tam said, is to “highlight health inequities” among vulnerable populations.

COVID-19 has shown that in addition to people who are elderly and those with underlying health conditions, those struggling with poverty, people who are homeless, racialized groups, Indigenous people and people suffering from addiction are “severely impacted” during crises, she said.

“Thinking about preparedness in a different way in reducing health inequities will get us (into) a better place for the next pandemic,” Tam said.

The Election Oversight Group, who has been investigating and documenting Georgia’s election problems since the 2020 General Election, in conjunction with County Citizens Defending Freedom, has provided The Gateway Pundit with more evidence that our election system should not be trusted. This time, it’s direct from Texas but has implications and evidence of occurrences in many other jurisdictions.

Deputy Colonel Tadeu of the Bolsonaro-allied Liberal Party has accused the Judiciary of “abuse of power”, as Jornal da Cidade reports: “The situation is getting unbearable. The time will come when the Armed Forces have to act, If Brazil starts to become a dictatorship, I believe the Army will act without anyone asking”, Tadeu told JCO TV. “We will not need to ask them to intervene.”

    Military movements continue in Brazil:

Speaking to Steve Bannon, Matt Tyrmand said that “The coup is on Lula’s side. Justice Barroso said, ‘We don’t win elections, we take them. These are Communists.”

    Timeline

By law, Bolsonaro should have left the Presidential Palace 15 days before powers is handed over to Lula on Jan. 1. This did not happen.

The Army, Navy, and Air Force Commanders Lula wants to replace have also remained in position.

    Protests continue all over Brazil.

The (pro-Lula) Supreme Court has decided to buy its own APCs

The Armed Forces have begun exercises all over Brazil and signed a national mobilization order.

The Minister of Defense called up the reserves and called for volunteers to join the reserves.

Bolsonaro relocated 300 staffers to the Presidency.

Bolsonaro nominated 12 new diplomats, which the Senate approved.

Bolsonaro transferred many generals and promoted others, strengthening his support.

Bolsonaro authorized huge quantities of gasoline to be bought to fuel tanks and APCs.

The Ministry of Defence expropriated areas reserved for nuclear energy.

The left is trying to influence Hispanic voters as they flee the Democrat party.

There has been a George Soros-backed takeover of 18 Hispanic radio stations – and former Hillary and Obama staffers are in charge.

Venezuelan-born former Radio Mambí host Lourdes Ubieta said that the takeover “is going to be a failure” and that “they did this to silence conservative Hispanic voices.”

    New York Post reported

The recent George Soros-backed takeover of 18 Hispanic radio stations, including Miami’s flagship conservative Radio Mambí, is doomed to fail, according to two hosts who quit the station as a result of the planned new progressive agenda.

“This is going to be a failure — I am 100 percent sure of that,” Venezuelan-born former Radio Mambí host Lourdes Ubieta told The Post she believes. She quit the station after she learned of the takeover during the summer. “They did this to silence conservative Hispanic voices but it’s not going to work.”

In a Facebook post by Senator Eigel, he stated, “Today I was made aware that a nationally run “Drag Queen Christmas Show” would be made available to children of all ages in Chesterfield, Missouri on Wednesday, December 21st. Exposing minors to this highly sexualized performance is a CRIMINAL act.”. 11. BREITBART – Inflation Crisis Fail: German Foreign Minister Has ~$8k a Month Personal Stylist as Citizens Feel the Cold

Germany’s foreign office is reportedly paying a freelance stylist nearly $8,000 a month to keep its minister looking presentable.

Claude Frommen, a renowned freelance make-up artist who has reportedly worked with major clients such as Porsche and TUI, is reportedly being paid just under $8,000 a month by the government to keep its Minister of Foreign Affairs looking windswept and interesting.

The expenditure comes at a time when many Germans are struggling under massive inflation which has seen the price of fuel, food and other amenities rise substantially this year.

Nevertheless, according to a report by Bild, Germany’s Foreign Affairs ministry has found it somewhere within the budget to pay Frommen a flat rate of €7,500 (~$7,945) every month to work with Green party minister Annalena Baerbock.

Speaking to the newspaper, a spokeswoman from the ministry said that the pay includes “very time-consuming” trips to foreign countries, as well as “numerous appointments at weekends and at special times of the day”.

“Ms Frommen takes care of Foreign Minister Baerbock’s photo and television appointments with her make-up and hair styling,” the spokeswoman reportedly explained, before adding that the make-up artist also looks after the minister’s “photo and television appointments on trips abroad”.

Baerbock is reportedly not Frommen’s only client working within the government, however, with North Rhine-Westphalia Minister-President Hendrik Wüst also reported as employing the professional’s services.

Garnering multiple articles in the German press, the federal government’s decision to spend a relatively large sum of money on a single make-up artist has likely drawn eyes due to it occurring at a time of substantial financial difficulty for many in the country.

With inflation nationwide sitting at a square 10 per cent according to state statistics agency Destatis, many Germans have been left struggling as a result of the country’s energy crisis, something that can partly be put down to the green agenda politics of the old Angela Merkel government, a legacy continued by the new left-green-globalist coalition government.

So bad has the crisis been that it has even resulted in some shelves in various supermarket chains being left bare, with suppliers refusing to send stock to vendors amid certain items becoming unprofitable.

However, such is probably the least of concern for many in the country, with there once again being warnings that Germany could see gas shortages before the winter is out this year.

According to the head of the country’s Federal Network Agency energy watchdog, Germany has failed to save anywhere near the amount of gas needed to avert shortages, with the expert reporting that consumption is down only 5 per cent on last year.

This is compared to the 20 per cent that is reportedly required.

“We don’t have to ring the alarm after two or three weeks like now,” the organisation’s President, Klaus Müller, reportedly said. “But it must not go on like this for the whole of January and February.”

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson found that Lake had not proven that election officials committed intentional misconduct sufficient to change the election outcome.

Lake, who lost to Hobbs by 17,000 votes, had alleged election officials in Maricopa County intentionally sabotaged her victory by causing Election Day printer malfunctions and violating chain of custody procedures

A secret back channel between FTX and the Biden White House shut down the day after FTX filed for bankruptcy.

In November TGP reported that billions were sent to Ukraine from the US. Ukraine took some of this money and invested it in FTX. FTX took millions of dollars and invested them in US politicians

The far-left Washington Post reported on March 3 that Ukraine was dealing in crypto.

The Ukrainian government has gathered more than $42 million in cryptocurrency donations since Saturday, plus digital artwork including a limited edition worth roughly $200,000, according to blockchain analytics firm Elliptic. The challenge is how the country cashes in on these assets to fund its war needs.

Amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the CEO of FTX, Sam Bankman Fried has come forward to help a crypto donation project. He humbly announced that FTX will be supporting the Ukrainian Ministry of Finance and other communities in collecting crypto donations for the country. The Ukrainian government has received over $60 million in crypto donations from all over the world.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, drug overdose deaths reached a record high.

In 2020 alone, 91,799 people died from overdoses and a majority of those overdoses were linked to Fentanyl.

Fentanyl is the number one cause of death among Americans aged 18-45.

In an attempt to have a “solution” to the opioid pandemic, researchers at the University of Houston are in the process of creating a new “vaccine” that prevents fentanyl from reaching the brain
