          Update (1100ET):

China’s Zhongzhou, home to Foxconn’s massive iPhone factory, will begin to enforce mobility restrictions across eight districts in main urban areas on Friday. The reason, well, authorities blame it on ‘rising Covid infections,’ though we should note that the new restrictions come as massive unrest has erupted at the factory of more than 200,000 workers.

Zhongzhou authorities posted a statement on its WeChat page on Wednesday about mobility restrictions from Friday through Sunday.

present, the epidemic situation in our city is still severe and complicated,” the statement said. Health officials will conduct daily mass PCR tests and request that residents in high-risk areas stay within their homes.

You can find more about the chaos unfolding at the iPhone factory below…

On Wednesday, unrest broke out at Foxconn’s massive iPhone factory in Zhengzhou, central China, reported Bloomberg. Videos on social media showed hundreds of workers, if not more, clashing with security personnel after a month of strict Covid restrictions.

Manufacturer Foxconn confirmed the outbreak of “violence” and said it would work with local authorities to quell further violence. It released a statement that said workers were furious about pay and living conditions.

BEIJING (AP) — Police beat workers protesting over a pay dispute at the biggest factory for Apple’s iPhone, whose new model is delayed by controls imposed as China tries to contain a surge in COVID-19 cases.

Foxconn, the biggest contract assembler of smartphones and other electronics, is struggling to fill orders for the iPhone 14 after thousands of employees walked away from the factory in the central city of Zhengzhou last month following complaints about unsafe working conditions.

China’s status as an export powerhouse is based on factories such as Foxconn’s that assemble the world’s consumer electronics, toys and other goods.

    • WaPo – Vaccinated people now make up a majority of covid deaths

It’s no longer a pandemic of the unvaccinated

For the first time, a majority of Americans dying from the coronavirus received at least the primary series of the vaccine.

Fifty-eight percent of coronavirus deaths in August were people who were vaccinated or boosted, according to an analysis conducted for The Health 202 by Cynthia Cox, vice president at the Kaiser Family Foundation.

It’s a continuation of a troubling trend that has emerged over the past year. As vaccination rates have increased and new variants appeared, the share of deaths of people who were vaccinated has been steadily rising. In September 2021, vaccinated people made up just 23 percent of coronavirus fatalities. In January and February this year, it was up to 42 percent, per our colleagues Fenit Nirappil and Dan Keating.

“We can no longer say this is a pandemic of the unvaccinated,” Cox told The Health 202.

Being unvaccinated is still a major risk factor for dying from covid-19. But efficacy wanes over time, and an analysis out last week from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention highlights the need to get regular booster shots to keep one’s risk of death from the coronavirus low, especially for the elderly.

Anthony Fauci, the nation’s preeminent infectious-disease expert, used his last White House briefing yesterday ahead of his December retirement to urge Americans to get the recently authorized omicron-specific boosters.

“The final message I give you from this podium is that please, for your own safety, for that of your family, get your updated covid-19 shot as soon as you’re eligible,” he said.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre:

Dr. Fauci is a pillar of the public health community. From HIV and AIDS to Ebola to COVID, he has kept the American public informed and prepared through multiple crises. It was an honor having him in the briefing room to remind Americans on the importance of getting vaccinated. pic.twitter.com/O0qXuNpY11

      — Karine Jean-Pierre (@PressSec) November 22, 2022

      Ratio shift
Cox, like many experts, says she’s not surprised by the ratio shift. There are a few reasons:

At this point in the pandemic, a large majority of Americans have received at least their primary series of coronavirus vaccines, so it makes sense that vaccinated people are making up a greater share of fatalities.
Individuals at greatest risk of dying from a coronavirus infection, such as the elderly, are also more likely to have received the shots.
Vaccines lose potency against the virus over time and variants arise that are better able to resist the vaccines, so continued boosters are needed to continue to prevent illness and death.
The BA.5 omicron subvariant became dominant in July and consistently accounted for the majority of new coronavirus infections across the United States until earlier this month. The highly transmissible strain fueled a surge of new infections, reinfections and hospitalizations throughout the summer.

      Boosters
It’s still true that vaccinated groups are at a lower risk of dying from a covid-19 infection than the unvaccinated when the data is adjusted for age. An analysis released by the CDC last week underscores the protection that additional booster shots offer against severe illness and death as immunity wanes.

Let’s take a look at deaths in August, when the highly contagious BA.5 variant reached its peak:

That month, unvaccinated people aged 6 months and older died at about six times the rate of those who had received their primary series of shots.
People with one booster dose were even better protected. Unvaccinated people over the age of 5 had about 8 times the risk of dying from a coronavirus infection than those who received a booster shot.
Among individuals who were eligible to receive additional booster shots, the gap is even more striking. Unvaccinated people 50 and up had 12 times the risk of dying from covid-19 than adults the same age with two or more booster doses.
David French, senior editor for the Dispatch:

One of the saddest phenomena of the online right is the absolute fury at those of us who supported COVID vaccines and continue to support COVID vaccines.

The death toll of vaccine refusal is simply staggering and heartbreaking.

      Six-week sprint

Americans’ uptake of the latest booster shots continues to be slow.

Around 35 million people have received the updated boosters that became available to people 12 and over in September and to children as young as 5 last month. That’s a little over 10 percent of the U.S. population, amid concern that cooler weather will bring a surge of covid cases as people move indoors and respiratory infections spread.

Yesterday, the White House announced a six-week push ahead of the holidays aimed at increasing booster uptake among seniors, people who are racial minorities and those who live in rural areas, all of which have disproportionately suffered severe disease and death during the coronavirus pandemic, our colleagues Frances Stead Sellers and Ariana Eunjung Cha write.

Senior officials said the Biden administration would direct some of its remaining resources to fight the pandemic into a $475 million campaign to support community health centers and organizations working to get the elderly and people with disabilities boosted.

The administration’s push coincided with the release of a CDC study offering the first evidence that the bivalent boosters are better at preventing symptomatic infection against newly circulating variants than earlier doses.

“I feel very confident that if people continue to get vaccinated at good numbers, if people get boosted, we can absolutely have a very safe and healthy holiday season,” Ashish Jha, White House coronavirus czar, said yesterday.

As interest rates rise on everything from mortgages to car loans to Treasurys, that also means interest is rising on credit card debt. That’s not exactly great news as so many indicators point to a recession – and the worsening job situation that comes with it – on the horizon. Many Americans may soon find themselves in a situation with more debt at higher interest rates, all while real wages are falling.

Earlier this month, Bankrate.com reported that the average credit card interest rate has climbed to 19.04%. That’s a 30-year high and the highest rate since 1991, when the rate hit 19%. That can mean real financial trouble for ordinary households, but it’s what we should expect in the wake of this year’s policy shift at the Federal Reserve to finally allow interest rates to drift upward after more than a decade of quantitative easing and ultralow-interest-rate policy. Over the past year, the Fed has increased the target federal funds rate from 0.25% from 4.0%. NBC reports on how this affects credit card debt:

  6. Huge Swathes Of Ukraine Without Power & Water After New Russian Strikes
    Tyler Durden’s Photo
    BY TYLER DURDEN
    WEDNESDAY, NOV 23, 2022 – 08:30 AM
Ukraine’s energy operator Energoatom has announced Wednesday emergency power shutdowns in effect across all regions of the country amid a new large wave of Russian airstrikes. Sirens have been sounding throughout the day across the country.

President Volodymyr Zelensky in follow-up estimated that 10 million Ukrainians now lack access to electricity due to the attacks. “There are emergency shutdowns in addition to planned, stabilization ones,” he explained. “The elimination of the consequences of another missile attack against Ukraine continues all day.”

Casualties have been reported in the eastern cities of Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia, and at least one person has been reported killed in Kiev. Speaking of the renewed attacks on the capital, Mykhailo Podolyak, head of the Office of the Ukrainian President’s office said, “A new massive attack on infrastructure facilities is underway.”

He described, citing recent anti-air defense systems acquired from Western countries, “While someone is waiting for World Cup results and the number of goals scored, Ukrainians are waiting for another score – number of intercepted Russian missiles. A new massive attack on infrastructure facilities is underway. In NASAMS, IRIS-T and Air Defense Forces we trust.”

Kiev’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, issued an emergency message on social media warning that ongoing Russian strikes are “Hitting one of the capital’s infrastructure facilities. Stay in shelters! The air alert continues.” Also alarming is that the mayor in a follow-up message said that water services have been suspended in Kiev after the major strikes.

But that draws unwelcome attention to the few, and it’s a temporary solution at best.

If Prez Z can drive out the useless (and cold) eaters, demand will fall to a level that can be sustained by the three nuclear power plants still under UAF control.

The RF is NOT targeting the NPPs.

UNLIKE Prez Z, who continues to strike the Zaporizhia NPP, under Russian control since the beginning. The largest such facility in Europe, it’s now inoperable. Generators provide electricity to cool the rods, but spent fuel containers just took three more hits – within the last 24 hours.

This could poison everything to the south: the entire Crimean Peninsula, much of the Black Sea – who knows how much of Europe. Think many multiples of Fukushima.

Though UN inspectors are nervous, they still won’t name the guilty party. With American-made missile fragments in hand! That tells you all you have to know about the UN.

And the "people on our side" who #StandWithUkraine.

BAMN. Prez Z is just that ruthless.
It can’t be written off simply as personal cowardice, fear for his own skin. He knows full well that under his aegis a strike could be catastrophic.

He’s into playing chicken with Putin.

      • Remember when real politicians recognized criminals as criminals, thugs as thugs? In clown world, who are the good guys? Where are the decent men?

      • * * *Today – all 4 NPPs – 15 reactors- are shut down.

  7. EPA floats sharply increased social cost of carbon
By Niina H. Farah, Lesley Clark | 11/21/2022 06:27 AM EST

EPA has proposed a new estimate for the social cost of carbon emissions, nearly quadrupling an interim figure that has already drawn legal challenges from a host of Republican-led states.

The metric puts a price tag on the damages created by each metric ton of greenhouse gas emissions. Agencies can then use it as part of their analyses of the costs and benefits of more stringent climate regulation on sources ranging from power plants and automobiles to the oil and gas sector.

The Biden administration has been using the Interagency Working Group’s interim value of $51 per metric ton of CO2. But earlier this month, EPA quietly proposed increasing that number to $190.

  8. UN Declaration Calls For As Much As $10 Trillion A Year To Meet Climate Targets
    Jack McEvoy
    on November 21, 2022
The United Nations COP27 climate plan calls on nations to spend eight to ten trillion dollars annually to invest in green energy and rapidly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Governments, central banks, commercial banks and investors will have to spend $4 to $6 trillion annually to create a global “low-carbon economy,” according to the COP27 Implementation Plan. Furthermore, the document claims $4 trillion per year needs to be invested in renewable energy by 2030 in order to reach “net zero emissions” by 2050.

“Of course, all these numbers are just pulled out of thin air,” Energy and Environmental Legal Institute senior legal fellow Steve Milloy told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “If ‘net zero’ was even possible, you can bet that the actual cost would be even higher … these numbers likely assume perfect efficiency in swapping fossil fuels for wind/solar.”

The UN argues that the global temperature cannot increase 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels to ensure that the planet is livable. The Paris Climate Agreement thus states that countries should slash emissions by 45% by no later than 2030 and ensure that they produce as few emissions as possible by 2050.

The plan also calls on developed countries to provide over $5.8 trillion before 2030 to help developing countries adapt to climate change and fund renewable energy projects in poorer nations. Nearly 200 nations reached an agreement to establish a financial framework at the

New York Democratscontinue to pass laws that are virtually guaranteed to be struck down and further reinforce Second Amendment rights. The latest provision involves the possible criminal prosecution for possessing a gun on private property if the owner has not approved such possession on the premises.

New York Democrats have passed a series of laws that led to catastrophic losses in federal court, including the recent major ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen. This includes openly gaming litigation to the irritation of individual justices.

Kari Lake appeared on Steve Bannon’s War Room this morning to discuss a new complaint that her team filed against Maricopa County as they push forward to certify another rigged and stolen election.

Lake told Bannon that she has “whistleblowers coming forward and at least one smoking gun in it.” She then revealed that her sources inside the Maricopa County Tabulation and Election Center witnessed Dominion employees were given “unfettered access” and they “walk around like they own the place.”

The Gateway Pundit reported that on Monday, when Iran’s World Cup team took the field for their opening match, they refused to sing their national anthem before the match. The act was a show of support for the mass protests taking place in Iran after Mahsa Amini’s death from injuries sustained after her arrest for the “improper” wearing of a hijab and the violent, brutal crackdowns on protestors that followed

  16. Georgia Supreme Court Reinstates Ban on Abortions After Six Weeks of Pregnancy

The Georgia Supreme Court has reinstated the state’s strict limitations on abortions.
A lower state court had previously overturned the abortion law, which bans the procedure at roughly six weeks of pregnancy, calling it “unconstitutional.”

The law in question, Georgia’s 2019 Living Infants Fairness and Equality (LIFE) Act bans abortions after a fetal heartbeat can be detected. This normally takes place around six weeks of pregnancy.

The decision by the state’s Supreme Court puts Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney’s ruling that the law is “unconstitutional” on pause while the state appeals.

True the Vote founder Catherine Engelbrecht and investigator Gregg Phillips have been cleared of the contempt charges that landed them in federal prison and solitary confinement earlier this month. The contempt charges were ordered by Judge Kenneth Hoyt against the #2000Mules duo for not disclosing their sources regarding the Konnech investigation that landed the CEO Eugene Yu in jail in Los Angeles. The election firm CEO faced charges that claimed U.S. citizens’ data was being stored on Chinese servers against Eugene Yu. Those charges, however, we’re recently dropped

Engelbrecht and Phillips were kept in federal prison for a week, sometimes in isolation. According to Gregg Phillips:

[They were] strip searched and how they were placed in handcuffs and ankle irons. They also were chained around their waists for most of the first day as they were being processed. In the short clip below, Phillips also explains how Engelbrecht was forced to use the bathroom and shower with a plate of glass on her wall that made all of her activities viewable to anyone standing outside of her cell.

To be honest, it’s kind of hard to try and entertain the innuendo and rumors that Democrats and the media are working to do damage control on behalf of Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of now-bankrupt crypto exchange FTX, because the idea is just so reprehensible.

But they sure do keep giving us ammunition to make that suggestion, don’t they?

    • zero hedge – Howls Of Outrage After New York Times Confirms SBF To Speak Alongside Zelenskyy, Yellen

As we discussed last night, Sam Bankman-Fried has now demonstrated that he is both a pathological liar and a sociopath, the kind who in “explaining” to his employees how he stole billions (over $4 billion according to new FTX CEO John J. Ray) from the now bankrupt FTX, an act which left it insolvent and without liquidity, called it “loans” which were “generally” not used for “large amounts of personal consumption” (just “small amounts” used for such trivial items as $40 million penthouses and private jets).

And the only reason we don’t officially call him a criminal just yet, is because he has not yet confirmed he used client money from his exchange to fund his personal hedge fund, an act which would cost any other individual decades in jail… but not prominent democrats like SBF or Jon Corzine, of course. Plus it’s the US legal system’s job to do that, not ours. Although we are growing increasingly skeptical this prominent Democratic donor will ever see the inside of a courtroom.

It’s not just us: with much of the entire world demanding to know how this corpulent 30-year-old still has not been thrown in prison, or at least charged with a variety of crimes, the NYT just confirmed to the entire world what a farce the one-time paper of record has become, and how it is willing to whore itself out for clicks – not to mention prominent Democrat donors – because moments after SBF tweeted that he will be speaking with Andrew Ross-Sorkin moderated NYT “summit” on Nov 30…

And so, instead of being under arrest, SBF will instead be treated like a luminary alongside other such other Democrat icons as Zelenskyy (who according to some may have been intimately familiar with FTX fund flows in the past year) and of course the woman who along with Ben Bernanke and Jerome Powell, made it all possible by blowing the biggest asset bubble of all time: Janet Yellen.

And while we are certain that the NYT – which we assume is done writing puff pieces on behalf of SBF after it became a laughing stock last week – would be quick to mercilessly cancel and expel from its “prestigious” conference anyone who had misgendered some post-op transsexual, it is willing to give this thieving pathological liar and sociopath a forum in which to profess his innocence to the entire world, and by association with other Democrat “celebrities” such as this one…

Here are all the other “top business and policy leaders” at the NYT whitewashing summit:

Eric Adams, New York City mayor
      Ben Affleck, Artists Equity C.E.O.
      Sam Bankman-Fried, FTX founder
Gerry Cardinale, RedBird Capital Partners founder, managing partner and C.I.O.

Larry Fink, BlackRock chairman and C.E.O.
Reed Hastings, Netflix founder and co-C.E.O.
Andy Jassy, Amazon president and C.E.O.
Van Jones, CNN host, author and Dream.Org founder
Scarlett Lewis, Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement founder and mother of Sandy Hook shooting victim, Jesse
Mike Pence, 48th vice president of the United States and author of “So Help Me God”
Benjamin Netanyahu, former Prime Minister of Israel, current leader of the Likud party
Priscilla Sims Brown, Amalgamated Bank president and C.E.O.
Secretary Janet L. Yellen, U.S. Department of the Treasury

Hillary’s attorney Marc Elias has joined forces with the corrupt Secretary of State running for Governor, Katie Hobbs.

The Arizona 2020 and 2022 elections are uncertifiable. The number of issues and obvious corruption involved in these elections is insurmountable to certify a valid election. In 2020, the election was certified by Secretary of State Katie Hobbs who now in 2022 is running for governor.

Hobbs is unattractive. She speaks with a little girl voice. She’s hated by millions in the state for her actions in certifying the uncertifiable 2020 Election. All in all, there is not much to like about Hobbs.

Now Hobbs after stealing the election in Arizona, as witnessed by the entire country on Election Day, is in a hurry to certify herself for governor.

Missouri’s Secretary of State wants to block taxpayer funding for libraries that provide pornography and erotica to children, but St. Louis County Public Library wants to keep on grooming.

Parents in Missouri and around the country risk FBI harassment to force public schools to remove sexually explicit material from public schools. But protecting children from groomers and predators is like playing whack-a-mole. Now that irate parents have seized control of school boards, public libraries are filling the gap of supplying filth to minors without parental consent.
