Reader’s Links for August 8th, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Some California residents are questioning whether they want to continue to be part of the woketopia created by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom.

This week, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously for a proposed referendum that asks “whether secession should be considered as a possibility,” according to the Associated Press.

  2. Despite the best efforts of Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and GOP lawmakers in the Legislature, some public school officials in Florida indicate they will continue to go woke, and work to indoctrinate children.

According to Breitbart News, Tom Edwards, vice chairman of the Sarasota County School Board, boasted of that situation with some measure of pride at a public meeting this week.

“I just wanted to give a little reassurance that here in the state of Florida, there are school board members that are woke. We’re here!” Edwards told attendees of a “Support Our Schools” forum.

“And we’re working. We have your back. You need to know we have your backs,” Edwards continued. “And we’re working in the best strategic spot because we’re on the inside. We are working from the inside.”

“But I’m not the only one in the state of Florida,” he added. “And I need to tell you so you feel a little better. There are coalitions forming to protect you.”

State Circuit Court Judge John Cooper on Friday ordered Jones removed from the ballot because she had not complied with a new state law that mandated her to be a registered Democrat for at least a year before she could qualify as a congressional candidate, Florida Politics reported.

Peggy Schiller, Jones’ primary opponent, had challenged her status as a candidate based on the law.

  4. My old German Shehperd is coming to the end of his days. A few years ago he suffered a stroke in the middle of his spine rendering his hind legs weak. His architecture is flawed. He’s too big, too long, the product of flawed breeding. But never have I had a pet so loyal.

Despite his frailty he still stands at attention if I so much as twitch. I originally got him to act as a buffer between my young family and any bear we stumbled across at our cottage land. Deep forest stuff. Maybe he would buy us a minute to get away from that startled female and her cubs as we rounded a corner somewhere in the tangled precambrian bush.
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_Shield

And you may say how ridiculous, what are the odds? Well surprise, it actually happened, but in a different way. When he was only one year old we were sitting on the cottage porch. It was five in the morning. The sun just a rumour. The family asleep. I was finishing my coffee, after which I would walk down the hundred-foot hill to the lake to catch a fish off the dock. I was about to ready my tackle when suddenly he jumped up, his pointy radar ears perked.

Never before had I heard such a growl out of this pup. It so deep, dark, menacing and violent that it sent a shiver up my spine. Only in this moment did I realize what he was, what he was capable of, and how I was glad he was on my side. I shone my powerful flashlight beam through the porch screen. Down through the trees near the shore I made out the lumbering form. I knew, had I told him to go, that he would have jumped through the screen in a flash. Lucky for me I had him. I may have caught more than a fish that morning had I gone down.

All animals understand violence. These days we hear our favourite pundits like Jordan Peterson and Neil Oliver express their thoughts of protest and rebellion couched in the pillows of non-violence. Understandably so. It is a crime to incite violence. Violence to the peaceful is ugly. Violence to the violent, however, is sexy. They get off on it. Violent response to their own violent overtures is a gift to them, excusing and raising their continued assaults.

The difference between a dog and a human, in terms of violence, is nuance. The dog gives warning with growls and barks. The human elevates violence to an art form. Recall that famous ancient text, for example, The Art of War. And even though there are many people whose people have suffered violence throughout their histories, they still forget that it can happen again.

Google the word “violence” and look what pops up. Given the last two years, how ironic it is that one of the most violent organizations in our world today offers its take. It provides a comprehensive, expert overview of the subject. Is it any surprise? How much of what is written can you relate to? How much has become the public policy of your own government?

The concept of violence holds the heart of the tyrant who is unwilling to hold it in his own soft, clean hands. Concepts work with polite society even if they break bones in the street. Degrees of separation between any Dear Leader and his police, military, and bureaucracy allows him to pass the buck when the street tries to hold him to account. Everyone is “…just doin’ their job…”.

I write this after listening and watching recent examples of violence. Violence against Dutch farmers by Dutch police. Violence against a child whose father tries to hold the injecting pharmacy to account. Other quieter violences posing as regulation. For how long passive people remain passive is anyone’s guess. Conscience is a great moderator. The question becomes: what straw lends conscience an alternative right, and when? The straw of the lost father, son, wife or daughter? At what trespass, if any, does the Holy Ghost of conscience provide licence?

[…]No, this new official ideology, the New Normal — which is still very much in effect in places like Germany, China, Canada, Australia, New York, California, etc. — is nakedly, undeniably, purely ideological. It is based, not on facts, but belief. It is a belief system, as is every other ideology. It is essentially no different than an official religion … one which demonizes and persecutes all other religions, and non-religions, and all other belief systems.

According to this new official belief system, those of us who maintain different beliefs, and refuse to convert to the new official beliefs (or pretend to convert to the new official beliefs), are dangerous, foreign elements in society. And thus, from now on, in New Normal Germany, we will be forced to wear a visible symbol of our different beliefs (our “otherness”) in public, so that the authorities and the Good German masses will be able to identify us.

    • reuters – Flush with cash, Pfizer buys Global Blood Therapeutics in $5.4 bln deal

Pfizer Inc on Monday agreed to pay $5.4 billion in cash for sickle cell disease drugmaker Global Blood Therapeutics (GBT.O), as it looks to capitalize on a surge in revenue from its COVID-19 vaccine and treatment.

Pfizer will pay $68.50 per GBT share, which represents a 7.3% premium to its Friday closing price. The deal is at a more than 40% premium where GBT was trading before the Wall Street Journal reported that Pfizer was in advanced talks to buy it on Thursday.

Pfizer’s 2021 revenue of $81.3 billion was nearly double the mark from the previous year, due to COVID-19 vaccine sales. With the addition of its COVID-19 antiviral pill Paxlovid, Pfizer is expected to generate around $100 billion in revenue this year, but sales from both products are expected to decline going forward.

Pfizer has been on the lookout for acquisitions that could bring in billions in annual sales by the end of the decade.

“We have very deliberately taken a strategy of diversification in our M&A deals,” Aamir Malik, Pfizer’s top dealmaker, said in an interview. He said the company was focused on improving growth for the second half of the decade, rather than large deals that generate value through cost cuts.

“We think that there are opportunities across all therapeutic areas that we’re active in,” Malik said, noting that the company was also agnostic about size for future deals.

In May, Pfizer struck an $11.6 billion deal for migraine drug maker Biohaven Pharmaceutical Holding (BHVN.N) and recently also completed a $6.7 billion deal to buy Arena Pharmaceuticals.

With the acquisition of Global Blood Therapeutics, Pfizer adds sickle cell disease treatment Oxbryta, which was approved in 2019 and is expected to top $260 million in sales this year. It will also pick up two pipeline assets – GBT601 and inclacumab – targeting the same disease.

Pfizer said if they are all approved, it believes GBT’s drugs could generate more than $3 billion in sales annually at their peak.

Sickle cell disease is an inherited blood disorder that affects an estimated 70,000 to 100,000 people in the United States.

GBT Chief Executive Officer Ted Love said that Pfizer’s resources and multinational infrastructure will allow the company to launch Oxbryta in additional markets and boost its uptake.

“We really have no infrastructure outside of that (U.S. and western Europe) and it takes time and money to build out those infrastructures and Pfizer already has all of it,” Love said.

Shares of Global Blood rose 4.5% following the deal announcement.

    • BioNTech reports strong first half, expects demand to grow

BERLIN (AP) — BioNTech, which teamed with Pfizer to develop a powerful COVID-19 vaccine, has reported higher revenue and net profit in the first half of the year and expects demand to grow as it releases updated vaccines to target new OMICRON strains.

The German pharmaceutical company said Monday that revenue hit about 9.57 billion euros ($9.76 billion) in the first six months of 2022, up from nearly 7.36 billion euros in the same period a year earlier. But revenue dropped to about 3.2 billion euros in the second quarter from 5.31 billion euros in April through June of last year.

BioNTech said the dynamic nature of the pandemic has led to changes in orders and revenue but that it expects a strong end to the year. It said it plans to release revamped vaccines tailored to the latest OMICRON VARIANTS as early as October, which could lead to A FALL BOOSTER CAMPAIGN .

“With our initiatives around variant-adapted COVID-19 vaccine candidates, we expect an uptake in demand in our key markets in the fourth quarter of 2022, subject to regulatory approval,” Jens Holstein, chief financial officer of BioNTech, said in a press release.

Moderna, another major COVID-19 vaccine producer, also is working on updated versions of its shots to release this fall.

BioNTech expects to report revenue of 13 billion to 17 billion euros from COVID-19 vaccines this year.

The German company’s net profit also was higher for the first half of the year compared with the same period of 2021 — 5.37 billion euros vs. 3.92 billion euros — and lower for the second quarter — 1.67 billion euros vs. 2.79 billion euros.

For partner Pfizer, sales of COVID-19 vaccine and treatment in the second quarter propelled the pharmaceutical giant to the largest quarterly sales in its history. It said last month that it earned $9.9 billion from April through June.

It is extremely important to understand the state of affairs and levels of corruption in Georgia’s elections. Before we can get into the two Georgia counties who have disregarded the will of their constituents and instead sided with questionable legal representation, we must first get an overview of Georgia’s election history since 2020:

We have enough credible evidence, mostly sourced through Open Records Requests and public information, to warrant a thorough investigation into the 2020 election in Georgia. There will be much more on this coming in the following days from The Gateway Pundit. However, we cannot get even a simple examination of physical paper ballots.

As Democrats pat themselves on the back after the Senate finally passed their massive tax, climate, and healthcare bill – the “Inflation Reduction Act” which Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called “one of the most significant pieces of legislation passed in a decade,” Bloomberg has compiled a list of winners and losers.

    WINNERS:

    The Wealthy

Not only did none of the billions in tax increases Democrats threatened high-earners with last year make it into the final version of the bill, their plans to ‘tax the 1%’ turned out to be nothing more than a big virtue signal.

    Private equity fund managers

As we noted on Friday, the landmark bill only passed after AZ Sen. Kyrsten Sinema insisted on keeping the carried-interest loophole that allows investment managers (like her former bosses) to shield the majority of their income from higher taxes.

The private equity industry was able to gain an additional win shortly before the final passage of the bill when a handful of Democrats broke with their party to vote on a Republican amendment that created a carveout for private equity-owned companies in the corporate minimum tax. -Bloomberg

    MONDAY, AUG 08, 2022 – 07:30 AM
China’s military drills in six zones surrounding Taiwan were scheduled to wind down and end on Sunday, but on Monday Beijing announced it is extending the threatening military drills which Taipei officials have slammed as a “blockade” and simulation for future invasion. The drills were originally set for four days, but have now been extended into this new week.

Not only have the drills launched in the wake of the last Tuesday into Wednesday visit to the self-ruled island of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi disrupted surrounding air traffic and shipping lanes key to global trade, but they’ve upped tensions with Washington, given the USS Ronald Reagan carrier strike group was ordered to stay in waters near Taiwan for longer than planned.

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theatre Command confirmed Monday that it is “continuing joint training under real war conditions, focused on organizing joint anti-submarine warfare and naval strikes.”

  12. Wanting payback and doing the right thing don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

There’s plenty of debate about who the best GOP candidate for 2024 would be and whether Donald Trump should make another bid for the presidency.

But there’s one argument that has not been heavily touched on that would make Trump ideal, should he manage to get back into the White House. It’s the simple fact that he has an ax to grind with the political establishment that betrayed him during his first term — and is willing to go further than other Republicans to break down the corruption in D.C.

If many of President Trump’s supporters believe he didn’t go far enough during his first term, that critique would likely be assuaged in a second term. If the bad personnel choices and attempts to work as a gentleman with swamp creatures was good for anything, it at least served to teach President Trump (and Americans) two things:

First, it revealed who the true patriots in government are (they’re few and far between) and who the traitors are. Second, it taught us that attempting to get along and play nicely with the establishment doesn’t work — the only way forward is to treat them as ruthlessly as they treat honest constitutionalists.

    The Axios article relates:

After Trump’s Senate acquittal, he gave [former aide John] McEntee an

These lessons, of course, were learned the hard way. President Trump was willing to cooperate with the establishment with key Cabinet picks like John Kelly, John Bolton, and Bill Barr. But the constant opposition from his own Cabinet against the platform he ran on was a rude awakening to the 45th president.

Even more of an awakening was the shock that came when many of those in power — ostensibly Trump’s allies — failed to do anything in light of strong evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 election. Former Vice President Mike Pence is one of the biggest names who comes to mind, and since 2020 Trump has soured on the man whose name was once beside his own on the presidential ticket.

Of course, by the time of the 2020 controversy, Trump was already learning of the necessity of filling the executive branch not with establishment-friendly picks, but with individuals loyal to his platform and (more importantly) to the Constitution and the country.

Per an Axios report, Trump’s closest advisors already have a plan to gut the bureaucracy by assigning executive branch employees who influence policy to a classification titled “Schedule F,” which would take away legal protections from thousands of

government employees and allow for their firing.

    The Axios article relates:

After Trump’s Senate acquittal, he gave [former aide John] McEntee an astonishing promotion to run the White House Office of Presidential Personnel. McEntee had no experience running any kind of personnel operation, much less such a significant post in the U.S. government. But Trump did not care.

He gave McEntee his blessing to start ridding the federal government of his enemies and replacing them with Trump people. McEntee was to ignore the “RINOs” who would try to dissuade him. He was to press ahead with urgency and ruthlessness.

  13. America Is Already Under Foreign Occupation
by Luis Miguel August 4, 2022

One of the most extreme scenarios constitutionalists often envision, the one we hope would unite Americans against a common enemy, is the prospect of a military invasion by a foreign power. We think of enemy troops marching through the streets á la Red Dawn, partly in alarm and partly enthused at the opportunity to exercise the Second Amendment against a threat from abroad.

But while imagining such dramatic scenarios can be an entertaining mental exercise, it misses the mark to believe that America’s enemies would bet their plans for the nation’s destruction on such a daring military operation which, given the logistics that would be inherent in the attempted invasion of a country as large, wealthy, and powerful as the United States, would certainly be doomed to failure.

The reality is that international forces don’t need to launch a military invasion because they already have America under foreign occupation — and the beauty of it, for them, is that most Americans don’t even realize it.

It can be heart-wrenching to have to accept that the world you thought you knew isn’t really the one that exists. But the truth is the truth, and while conservatives may speak often about “losing our country” and “stopping the communist takeover of America,” these dark eventualities came to pass long ago.

America has been sold to the highest bidders by a corrupt, kleptocratic political class. The “selling out” has occurred in various ways and to several different buyers.

For one, the United States government, like the governments of many countries, is run by an international oligarchy that has no allegiance to any nation, including America. The oligarchs themselves largely belong to the world’s most wealthy, elite families whose fortunes have in

reuters Exclusive: U.S. to send $4.5 billion more to Ukraine for budget needs

Aug 8 (Reuters) – The United States will provide an additional $4.5 billion to Ukraine’s government, bringing its total budgetary support since Russia’s February invasion to $8.5 billion, the U.S. Agency for International Development said on Monday.

The funding, coordinated with the U.S. Treasury Department through the World Bank, will go to the Ukraine government in tranches, beginning with a $3 billion disbursement in August, USAID, the Agency for International Development, said.

It follows previous transfers of $1.7 billion in July and $1.3 billion in June, USAID said. Washington has also provided billions of dollars in military support, and plans a new $1 billion weapons package shortly.

The U.S. funds are to help the Ukrainian government maintain essential functions, including social and financial assistance for the growing poor population, children with disabilities, and millions of internally displaced persons, as the war drags on.

Ukrainian officials estimate the country faces a $5 billion-a-month fiscal shortfall – or 2.5% of pre-war gross domestic product – due to the cost of the war and declining tax revenues. Economists say that will swell Ukraine’s annual deficit to 25% of GDP, compared with 3.5% before the conflict.

The World Bank estimates that 55% of Ukrainians will be living in poverty by the end of 2023 as a result of the war and the large numbers of displaced persons, compared with 2.5% before the start of the war.

USAID said U.S. budget support has enabled the Ukrainian government to keep gas and electricity flowing to hospitals, schools and other critical infrastructure and deliver urgently needed humanitarian supplies to citizens.

The funds have also paid for healthcare workers, teachers and other civil servants.

USAID said robust safeguards had been put in place by the World Bank, along with USAID-funded, third-party watchdogs embedded within the Ukrainian government to make sure the funds are directed where they are meant to go.

“The United States remains committed to supporting Ukraine and its people in the wake of Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified war,” USAID said in a statement.

The injection of fresh cash for Ukraine comes as the war, which Russia calls “a special military operation,” stretches into a sixth month, with millions of Ukrainians displaced and authorities warning of likely gas shortages in winter.

USAID is an independent federal agency that receives overall foreign policy guidance from the Secretary of State.

  16. Russia Strikes US-Backed Fighters In Syria Near American Base

Russia announced on Friday that it conducted an airstrike against a group of US-backed militants in Syria near al-Tanf, a US military base located in the south of the country.

Russia said it targeted Liwa Shuhada al-Qaryatayn (ShQ), a group that has fought against the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Moscow said the Russian Aerospace Forces “identified and destroyed” a group of ShQ militants.

“This terrorist group is based in the Al-Tanf zone, supplied and trained by instructors from the US Army Special Operations Forces,” the Russian Defense Ministry said. “Operating from the desert, the Liwa Shuhada al-Qaryatayn militants carried out acts of sabotage against the civilian population and civilian infrastructure in Syria.”

The Pentagon confirmed that the strikes took place in comments to Newsweek, but didn’t provide any details. US Central Command told Newsweek that “CENTCOM is aware of the strike, but does not have information to provide to you on this.”

The US was said to cut off support for ShQ in 2017. In 2018, the group was said to be relocating from the southern area near al-Tanf to northern Syria.

The strikes mark the second time that Russia has targeted US-backed fighters near al-Tanf. Back in June, Russia targeted Maghawir al-Thawra, formerly known as the New Syrian Army. Russia notified the US before launching the strikes on Maghawir al-Thawra, which targeted buildings the group was using at al-Tanf.

The notification came through a deconfliction line that the two powers have been operating for years to reduce the chance of a miscalculation in Syria.

US officials told CNN in June that they didn’t believe Russia’s reasoning for the initial strike and that Moscow was instead trying to “send a message” that it can conduct such an operation without retaliation. Either way, these incidents highlight the danger of the US military presence in Syria, where it maintains an occupation force of about 1,000 troops.

    • Ambassador in Belgrade announces deployment of Russian military base in Serbia

Ambassador Botan-Kharchenko described the creation of a Russian military base in Serbia as a sovereign matter for Belgrade.

Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Belgrade Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko spoke about the creation of a Russian military base in Serbia. He told SM News about this.

The diplomat stressed that the deployment of Russian bases in Serbia is a sovereign matter of this country. Moreover, this is a matter of Russia itself. “As for the joint humanitarian center, it exists and operates for crisis response in the event of a humanitarian catastrophe,” he added.

Botan-Kharchenko also noted that Serbia is a friendly country and that Belgrade “fundamentally rejects sanctions against Russia.” At the same time, he also took aim at the political component of the gas supply agreement at the most advantageous price. The Ambassador stressed that Russia ensures energy stability in Serbia. In addition, countries continue military-technical cooperation, as a result of which favorable conditions are created for the quality of what is being supplied.

Earlier, Serbian Interior Minister Alexander Vulin announced that his country refuses to enter into conflict with Russia and become “NATO infantry”. He advised his Western colleagues to apologize to the country for the hostilities.

Inflation is skyrocketing. Gas prices, despite Old Joe Biden’s crowing about minor reductions, are still substantially higher than they were before his presidency was inflicted upon us. America’s global standing is drastically diminished by Biden’s handlers’ catastrophically botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, due to the lack of preparedness of a politicized military distracted by wokeism. The Southern border is essentially nonexistent, and due to that as well as to the arrival of tens of thousands of unvetted Afghan migrants, there is an unknowable number of criminals and terrorists in the country who would have been kept out by remotely sane immigration policies. Amid all this and much more, Biden’s handlers are tackling the real problem facing America today: they’re expanding the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to the

What a mess our elections are. Thanks to Democrat corruption in the 2020 Election steal, most Americans, nearly two-thirds, are concerned about cheating in this November’s election. They should be.

In the 2020 Election, we saw individuals prevented from reviewing the counting process in major cities like Philadelphia, Las Vegas, and Detroit. Dilbert creator Scott Adams shared a month after the election how the election was over at that point.

  23. The MSM Suddenly Decides Elections Can Be Stolen… But Only by Republicans
BY MATT MARGOLIS AUG 08, 2022 11:41 AM ET
The mainstream media gladly colluded with Democrats to insist that the 2020 election was the safest, fairest, and most secure election in the history of the world, the universe, and all dimensions in the multiverse. If you dare suggest that Biden stole the 2020 election, you are immediately declared a fringe conspiracy theorist and banned on social media.

But it looks like the media is starting to change its tune on the theory that our elections are secure and can’t be stolen. There’s just a tiny caveat: only Republicans can steal elections.

Bloomberg sought to find out which states are “most vulnerable to political election interference” and “what it means for elections this fall and in 2024, when the White House will once again be at stake.” I’ll save you all the details because the criteria were ridiculously biased. But, according to the exposé, reporters Ryan Teague Beckwith and Bill Allison looked at all the states, scrutinized election laws, consulted with experts, and while they claim the 2022 vote “should be fine” because election integrity laws in various states have stalled, Beckwith and Allison nevertheless insist that the 2024 vote could potentially be “stolen” should Trump loyalists win gubernatorial elections Arizona, Michigan, Nevada and Wisconsin, and possibly Pennsylvania.

Why? Because these Trump loyalists questioned the results of the 2020 election and would probably steal the

Moments ago, Donald Trump – who is still banned by Twitter – published a statement on Truth Social in which he said that his Florida home, Mar A Lago is “currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents”, an assault which according to Trump “could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries.” He is probably right. He also claims the Fed’s presence was unannounced and the reason was politically motivated.

His full statement posted on his Truth Social account is below:

Statement by Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States of America

These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents. Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before. After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate. It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024, especially based on recent polls, and who will likewise do anything to stop Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm Elections. Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries. Sadly, America has now become one of those Countries, corrupt at a level not seen before. They even broke into my safe! What is the difference between this and Watergate, where operatives broke into the Democrat National Committee? Here, in reverse, Democrats broke into the home of the 45th President of the United States.

I stood up to America’s bureaucratic corruption, I restored power to the people, and truly delivered for our Country, like we have never seen before. The establishment hated it. Now, as they watch my endorsed candidates win big victories, and see my dominance in all polls, they are trying to stop me, and the Republican Party, once more. The lawlessness, political persecution, and Witch Hunt must be exposed and stopped.

I will continue to fight for the Great American People!

Local reporters confirmed the raid, saying the FBI executed a search warrant at Mar-a-Lago. “They just left,” although it isn’t clear what the search was about.

      ==================================
NEW YORK TIMES – Live Updates: F.B.I. Searches Trump’s Private Residence in Florida

The former president called the search an “assault” and complained that authorities had broken into a safe. The news appeared to come as a surprise to top aides at the White House.

The search appears to be focused on materials Trump took from the White House.
Former President Donald J. Trump said on Monday that the F.B.I. had searched his Palm Beach, Fla., home and had broken open a safe — an account signaling a major escalation in the various investigations into the final stages of his presidency.

The search, according to multiple people familiar with the investigation, appeared to be focused on material that Mr. Trump had brought with him to Mar-a-Lago, his private club and residence, when he left the White House. Those boxes contained many pages of classified documents,
according to a person familiar with their contents.

Mr. Trump delayed returning 15 boxes of material requested by officials with the National Archives for many months, only doing so when there became a threat of action to retrieve them. The case was referred to the Justice Department by the archives early this year.

The search marked the latest remarkable turn in the long-running investigations into Mr. Trump’s actions before, during and after his presidency — and even as he weighs announcing another candidacy for the White House.

It came as the Justice Department has stepped up its separate inquiry into Mr. Trump’s efforts to remain in office after his defeat at the polls in the 2020 election and as the former president also faces an accelerating criminal inquiry in Georgia and civil actions in New York.

Mr. Trump has long cast the F.B.I. as a tool of Democrats who have been out to get him, and the search set off a furious reaction among his supporters in the Republican Party and on the far right of American politics. Representative Kevin McCarthy of California, the Republican leader in the House, suggested that he intended to investigate Attorney General Merrick B. Garland if Republicans took control of the House in November.

The F.B.I. would have needed to convince a judge that it had probable cause that a crime had been committed, and that agents might find evidence at Mar-a-Lago, to get a search warrant. Proceeding with a search on a former president’s home would almost surely have required sign-off from top officials at the bureau and the Justice Department.

The search, however, does not mean prosecutors have determined that Mr. Trump committed a crime.

An F.B.I. representative declined to comment, as did Justice Department officials. The F.B.I. director, Christopher A. Wray, was appointed by Mr. Trump.

Mr. Trump was in the New York area at the time of the search. “Another day in paradise,” he said Monday night during on a telephone rally for Sarah Palin, who is running for a congressional seat from Alaska.

Eric Trump, one of his sons, told Fox News that he was the one who informed his father that the search was taking place, and he said the search warrant was related to presidential documents.

Mr. Trump, who campaigned for president in 2016 criticizing Hillary Clinton’s practice of maintaining a private email server for government-related messages while she was secretary of state, was known throughout his term to rip up official material that was intended to be held for presidential archives. One person familiar with his habits said that included classified material that was shredded in his bedroom and elsewhere.

The search was at least in part for whether any records remained at the club, a person familiar with it said. It took place on Monday morning, the person said, although Mr. Trump said agents were still there many hours later.

“After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate,” Mr. Trump said, maintaining it was an effort to stop him from running for president in 2024. “Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries.”

“They even broke into my safe!” he wrote.

Mr. Trump did not share any details about what the F.B.I. agents said they were searching for.

Aides to President Biden said they were stunned by the development and learned of it from Twitter.

The search came as the Justice Department has also been stepping up questioning of former Trump aides who had been witnesses to discussions and planning in the White House of Mr. Trump’s efforts to overturn his election loss.

Mr. Trump has been the focus of questions asked by federal prosecutors in connection with a scheme to send “fake” electors to Congress for the certification of the Electoral College. The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol also continues its work and is interviewing witnesses this week.

The law governing the preservation of White House materials, the Presidential Records Act, lacks teeth, but criminal statutes can come into play, especially in the case of classified material.

Criminal codes, which carry jail time, can be used to prosecute anyone who “willfully injures or commits any depredation against any property of the United States” and anyone who “willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates or destroys” government documents.

Samuel R. Berger, a national security adviser to President Bill Clinton, pleaded guilty in 2015 to a misdemeanor charge for removing classified material from a government archive. In 2007, Donald Keyser, an Asia expert and former senior State Department official, was sentenced to prison after he confessed to keeping more than 3,000 sensitive documents — ranging from the classified to the top secret — in his basement.

In 1999, the C.I.A. announced it had suspended the security clearance of its former director, John M. Deutch, after concluding that he had improperly handled national secrets on a desktop computer at his home.

In January of this year, the archives retrieved 15 boxes that Mr. Trump took with him to Mar-a-Lago from the White House residence when his term ended. The boxes included material subject to the Presidential Records Act, which requires that all documents and records pertaining to official business be turned over to the archives.

The items in the boxes included documents, mementos, gifts and letters. The archives did not describe the classified material it found other than to say that it was “classified national security information.”

Because the National Archives “identified classified information in the boxes,” the agency “has been in communication with the Department of Justice,” David S. Ferriero, the national archivist, told Congress at the time.

Federal prosecutors subsequently began a grand jury investigation, according to two people briefed on the matter. Prosecutors issued a subpoena earlier this year to the archives to obtain the boxes of classified documents, according to the two people familiar with the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation.

The authorities also made interview requests to people who worked in the White House in the final days of Mr. Trump’s presidency, according to one of the people.

In the spring, a small coterie of federal agents visited Mar-a-Lago in search of some documents, according to a person familiar with the meeting. At least one of the agents was involved in counterintelligence, according to the person.

The question of how Mr. Trump has handled sensitive material and documents he received as president loomed throughout his time in the White House, and beyond.

He was known to rip up pieces of official paper that he was handed, forcing officials to tape them back together. And an upcoming book by a New York Times reporter reveals that staff members would find clumps of torn-up paper clogging a toilet, and believed he had thrown them in.

The question of how Mr. Trump handled classified material is complicated because as president he had the authority to declassify any government information. It is unclear whether Mr. Trump, before leaving office, had declassified materials the archives discovered in the boxes. Under federal law, he no longer maintains the ability to declassify documents after leaving office.

While in office, he invoked the power to declassify information several times as his administration publicly released materials that helped him politically, particularly on issues like the investigation into his campaign’s ties to Russia.

Toward the end of the administration, Mr. Trump ripped pictures that intrigued him out of the President’s Daily Brief — a compendium of often classified information about potential national security threats — but it is unclear whether he took them to the residence with him. In one prominent example of how he dealt with classified material, Mr. Trump in 2019 took a highly classified spy satellite image of an Iranian missile launch site, declassified it and then released the photo on Twitter.

Earlier this year, Kash Patel, a former Defense Department senior official and Trump loyalist whom Mr. Trump named as one of his representatives to engage with the National Archives, suggested to the right-wing website Breitbart that Mr. Trump had declassified the documents before leaving the White House and that the proper markings simply had not been adjusted.

“Trump declassified whole sets of materials in anticipation of leaving government that he thought the American public should have the right to read themselves,” he said, according to Breitbart.

Local television crews showed supporters of Mr. Trump gathering near Mar-a-Lago, some of them being aggressive toward reporters.

Mr. Trump made clear in his statement that he sees potential political value in the search, something some of his advisers echoed, depending on what any investigation produces.

His political team began sending fund-raising solicitations about the search late on Monday evening.

Serious concerns have arisen over the US House race for District 3, where Trump-Endorsed Joe Kent is within striking distance of Never Trumper Jamie Herrera Beutler, and they’re still counting the ballots.

you haven’t yet seen the incredible documentary by filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza titled 2000Mules yet, you are doing yourself an injustice as an American citizen. And if you have seen it and haven’t shared it with those who believe “the Big Lie”, you’re doing them an injustice.

In this “Big Lie” shattering documentary using data from TrueTheVote (TTV), it was revealed that hundreds of thousands of votes were potentially harvested in the swing states investigated by TTV (GA, PA, MI, WI, AZ). TTV bought cell phone data for the key swing states and began sifting through the anonymous “pings” to find individual patterns. By tracking the device IDs using very conservative parameters, TTV was able to determine there were thousands of mules accounting for hundreds of thousands of ballots in key swing states.

This is a list of just the docs my doctor friend in Canada heard about passively.
In the past 30 years, he’s never heard of a single death like this.
Not one. Now there are at least 14.

His parents say his confidence has surged
