Reader’s links for August 6th, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. L.A. City Council To Vote On Initiative Requiring Hotels Use Empty Rooms For Homeless

    https://www.dailywire.com/news/l-a-city-council-to-vote-on-initiative-requiring-hotels-use-empty-rooms-for-homeless

Unite Here Local 11, a progressive union representing 32,000 hospitality workers in southern California and Arizona, reportedly gathered over 120,000 signatures for a proposed initiative ordinance that would require all hotels — luxury to family-owned — to house the city’s growing homeless population.

“It’ll help create an emergency solution for people that need housing immediately,” Maria Hernandez, communications director for the union, told FOX 11. “We have members that are on the edge of potentially becoming homeless people.”

Hernandez said the initiative would pick up where the Project Room Key initiative, which paid hotels to house homeless folks during the pandemic, left off.

The measure would force each hotel by 2 p.m. every day to report the number of available rooms at the hotel for that night.

  2. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) – The Madison County school system in North Carolina says it plans to put AR-15 rifles in emergency safes in all of its six schools as part of a new incentive for increased security in the wake of the deadly Uvalde, Texas, school shooting earlier this year when 19 children and two teachers were killed in a fourth-grade classroom.

“We were able to put an AR-15 rifle and safes in all of our schools in the county,” Sheriff Buddy Harwood told the Asheville Citizen-Times. “We’ve also got breaching tools to go into those safes. We’ve got extra magazines with ammo in those safes.”

Harwood said the rifles will ideally allow police to quickly defend against a school shooting. Harwood criticized the police that responded to the Uvalde shooting saying the time they took to respond to the shooting cost lives.

“Those officers were in that building for so long, and that suspect was able to infiltrate that building and injure and kill so many kids,” said Harwood.

    • Vaccine adverse reactions events system is the primary government-funded system for reporting adverse reactions in the US. Historically VARES has been shown to report only 1% of the actual adverse reactions.

VARES Report as of July 29, 2022

A video showing pigs eating a deceased pig on a farm in China went viral recently. Some of the pig farmers, working for a major Chinese financial group, said that the cannibalism occurred because of feed shortages. One expert believes that feed shortages are a reflection of bigger problems in China’s economy.

    • The only reason to cut the food for the hogs is a shortage in human food. The are robbing Peter to pay Paul, this is not going to end well.

This news lowers but does not eliminate the risk of the mainland invading Taiwan.

  4. It’s hard to know which part of the mRNA injections is scariest or most damaging, the toxic spike protein or the lipid nanoparticles. Leave it to people to invent a new technology–nanostuff–only to use it for evil purposes from, essentially, its beginning. It’s not the technology that’s evil, but the application. I make this obvious statement because I never imagined the nefarious possibilities as it crept into our lives. My mind just didn’t have this kind of default. It only tried to imagine cool good stuff super small stuff would do.

That’s just the way we crazy mixed up hominids roll, I guess. We may not have to become armchair experts in everything to survive these days, but it seems like it. Islam, information warfare, communism, postmodernism, propaganda, immunology, geopolitics, economics, mass-line Maoist psychological warfare, the Hegellian dialectict and its methodology–I mean where would we be without this little VTB think tank to help us along? Sure, we’d get somewhere good on our own with our good compasses, but it sure helps to have help. Notice that all the examples I listed are systems, or a sytematized approach to something?

Each day that passes makes clearer the false god we hominids put on pedestals. We’ve always done it. We think we’re saving ourselves. And it stands to reason the current iteration is happening at a revolutionary turning point in scientific discovery. New technologies make us gasp in amazement because they even surpass the science fictions of yesteryear in many ways. The mistake we are making is to worship science at any time, and especially when it is being horribly corrupted.

Our emerging landscape begs weird questions that would have sent me to the loonie bin had I asked them over two years ago. Will my unvaxxed children find vaxxed partners? (There are already unvaxxed clubs aligning for political and social support.) If an unvaxxed person needs blood because of a medical issue, will they be damaged if they receive transfused lipid nanoparticles? What kind of questions will we ask in two years from now? Five years? Brother can you spare a cricket?

As a pertinent aside, where can science fiction go from here? What if the nanoparticles held a secret not even its creators are aware of? Fact is, the final joke will always be on those who believe they hold the keys to complex systems. Bad science forever and always.

Note 2:37 of this movie trailer. That fella sure has his priorities straight in what he focuses on. All hell is breaking loose and all he can do is stare. Forget about pushing more buttons or throwing more switches to save the ship… Must…look…at…boobs!

I guess the most amazing part of that science was how they managed to shrink those puppies down. O, to be human. That’s where it’s at, and always will be.

Yesterday an old man died in my ‘hood. I sometimes wonder now if these are the lucky ones, but then I come to my happier senses. They found him in the very back of his garden. He went in the squash.

  5. CBS – Arming Ukraine

Flooding a country with advanced weapons can have grave consequences, even when done with the best of intentions.

This CBS Reports documentary goes inside Ukraine to get a firsthand look at how military aid gets from the border to frontline soldiers, and explores the difficulties of getting the aid to the fighters who need it.

…. only 30% of the weapons reach their final destination

  6. KAOHSIUNG (Taiwan News) – The decision of U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to visit Taiwan has been welcomed here in Kaohsiung, as it has everywhere else in the country.

“Of course, she should come here, everyone is welcome in Taiwan,” one elderly lady working in an evening market said.

“The U.S. is our friend, and their representatives will always be welcome here,” a student at Kaohsiung Normal University told me.

  7. TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Top diplomats from the U.S., Australia, and Japan on Friday (August 5) called on China to stop military drills around Taiwan “immediately” and reaffirmed their commitment to regional peace and stability.

After weeks of threatening rhetoric before U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, Beijing imposed live-fire drills encircling Taiwan from Thursday (Aug. 4).

A strategic dialogue between U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong, and Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi in Cambodia was held in Cambodia after their ASEAN ministerial meeting. The three reiterated their commitment to promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific and firm trilateral relations based on shared interests

  8. Taiwan says Chinese planes, ships carry out attack simulation exercise

Chinese aircraft and warships rehearsed an attack on Taiwan on Saturday, island officials said, in retaliation for a visit there by U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi that also saw Beijing halt talks on security and other issues with the United States.

Pelosi’s brief unannounced visit during the week to the self-ruled island claimed by China infuriated Beijing and has prompted unprecedented military drills that have included ballistic missiles fired over the capital, Taipei.

The Chinese exercises – centred on six locations around the island – are scheduled to last until midday on Sunday.

Taiwan’s defence ministry said multiple Chinese ships and planes conducted missions in the Taiwan Strait, with some crossing the median line, an unofficial buffer separating the two sides, in what the Taiwan military described as a simulation attack on the island.

    • I think this is a bluff, while we are dependent on Chinese manufacturing, China is dependent on our purchasing. If we don’t buy they can’t ship. This was driven home to China during the Covid lockdown. Their economy is in much worse shape then ours. Without US support they can’t afford to start a war of conquest.

  9. Phillip W. Magness American Institute of Economic Research

“Orwellian hell-scape” economist lashes Facebook for recession fact-check.
Magness believes the US is now in a recession and when he said so on Facebook, his post was flagged by Politifact as misleading.

Facebook is now policing anyone that questions the White House’s definition of recession, imposing “fact checks” on experts who speak out about the state of the economy.

Nancy Pelosi traveled to Taiwan and the Far East and met with numerous entities and individuals. Was the purpose for her to increase her family fortune?

The two photographs below originated from a source in Taiwan. The circled man in the photo on the left is the same man labeled as Paul Pelosi Jr., Nancy Pelosi’s son, in the photograph on the right. That man is clearly part of Nancy Pelosi’s inner entourage, but, strangely, he does not appear in any other photographs circulating on the internet.

  11. 80-Year-Old Woman Banned From Community Pool For Complaining About Cross-Dressing Man Watching Little Girls Undress In Locker Room
    By Alicia Powe

YPolitics is downstream from culture. As the Biden administration and Democrats mainstream gender dysmorphia, the normalization of pedophilia and public displays of lewd behavior is becoming rampant across the United States.

An 80-year-old woman was banned from using the YMCA community pool after complaining about a man dressed in a woman’s swimsuit watching little girls undress in the locker room of a YMCA in Washington state.
