Reader’s Links for July 4th, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Chaos cannot last forever. Even from the Pollock-esque paint splatterings a picture must emerge, even if only subjectively. The Great Reset has been largely an amorphous idea in the minds of most, without definition despite its expression in Agenda 21/30. Now, from its primordial soup, it begins to take form.

Just as the degree of success of the West in the Ukraine war is proportionate to our advancement to nuclear war, I believe the better defined the Resetters become the closer they are to their own demise.

“…Central Europe, it seems, is where the internal contradictions of Western civilization are both born and, like Martin Luther at Eisleben, go home to die. And this is where the latest synthetic attempt to replace God with his conqueror, Man, has emerged: in the village of Davos, in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland: the site of the annual meeting of the WEF led by the German-born engineer and economist Klaus Schwab, born in Ravensburg in 1938, the year before Hitler and Stalin began carving up Poland and the Baltics…”.

    Then a finer point:

“…At its heart, the Great Reset is a conceited and self-loathing central-European blitzkrieg against the cultural, intellectual, religious, artistic, physical, and, most of all, moral inheritance we have received from our Greco-Roman forebears. This has been latterly shorthanded, with the rise of “wokeness,” to “white” culture. Typically racialist, if not outright racist, the cultural Marxists behind wokeness insist on reducing humanity to its shades of skin color and then claiming that although all skin colors should achieve in exact same proportions to their share in a given population, some skin colors are better than others and any skin color is preferable to white. It’s a deeply repellent principle that masquerades as a perversion of Judeo-Christianity but is in fact a simultaneous attack on individuality and merit that seeks to roll back the scientific and cultural advances of the past two millennia, wielding both science and culture as weapons against our shared technological and moral heritage.

The goal, as always, is power—the eternal fixation of the socialist Left…”.

Or, as Vlad says more succinctly, the point is always the Revolution.

Historically, a particular brand of aggression eminates from this region. Not only warlike, it has also manifested in great scientific and cultural advancement even if its human capital accomplished its feats in adopted lands.

  2. Ironically, the U.S. bans the purchase of the highest form of money (Russian) as it descends into financial dire straights. Oddly, some financial experts and advisors believing in PM’s say they have or will take profits on PM’s and buy back in later. But what about the peril of trying to buy back in, potentially, while a frenzy to obtain PM’s erupts all at once? One will have traded one’s position for a few shekels for a desert fiat island:

Under the Trudeau regime Canadians continue to lose their rights to assemble, practice their religion, and speak freely. Now the government is teaching children that ‘free speech’ is a common defense of hate propaganda and a border wall between countries is racist.

A new government-funded booklet made for Canadian school children describes President Trump’s border wall with Mexico and free speech as two examples of hate.

  5. YThere Are Two Fundamentally Irreconcilable Constitutional Visions

It’s been a momentous couple of weeks at the Supreme Court. As usual, they saved the big cases for the end. This year the big three were Bruen (gun rights), Dobbs (abortion rights) and West Virginia (administrative regulation of CO2).

All three cases were decided 6-3 along ideological lines. These cases involved the most basic issues of what the Constitution is and how it is to be interpreted. On those issues there is virtually no hope of one side ever convincing anyone from the other side. There just are two fundamentally irreconcilable visions of how this should work. The two visions can be summarized in just a few sentences each:

Vision 1. The Constitution allocates powers to the three branches of government, and also lists certain rights entitled to constitutional protection. The role of the courts is (1) to assure that the powers are exercised only by those to whom they are allocated, (2) to protect the enumerated rights, and (3) as to things claimed to be rights but not listed, to avoid getting involved.

Vision 2. The Constitution is an archaic document adopted more than 200 years ago, and largely obsolete. The role of the courts is to implement the current priorities of the academic left and then somehow rationalize how that is consistent with the written document. If a right is enumerated in the Constitution but disfavored by the current left (e.g., the right to “keep and bear arms”), then the courts should find a way to uphold enactments that minimize that right down to the point that it is a nullity. If a right is not enumerated in the Constitution, but is a priority of the left (e.g., abortion), then that right can be discovered in some vague and unspecific constitutional language (“due process”). And if the left has a priority to transform the economy and the way the people live, but the Congress does not have sufficient majorities to enact that priority, then the Executive agencies can implement that priority on their own authority, and the role of the courts is to assist the agencies in finding something in the tens of thousands of pages of federal statutes, however vague and dubious, that can be claimed to authorize the action.

Suppose that you are on the Supreme Court, and you subscribe to Vision 2; and thus you find yourself time after time on the losing end of these 6-3 decisions. What’s your strategy in writing your dissents? Actually, it’s easy. The goal is to divert attention away from the actual Constitution as far and as quickly as possible. Instead, you argue that the position of the current left is the only moral position, and anyone who might oppose it is a monster. Does this have anything to do with the Constitution? No, but so what? Don’t worry — you have the entirety of the media and academia to support you and to help keep the people from figuring out what you are doing.

Don’t believe me? Let’s look at the dissents in the three decisions that are the subject of this post. First, Bruen. Justice Thomas has written a majority opinion that basically says that the right to “keep and bear arms” is right there in the Constitution, Second Amendment, and that this right is entitled to the same recognition and status as the other rights in the Bill of Rights. Here is the first paragraph of Justice Breyer’s dissent:

In 2020, 45,222 Americans were killed by firearms. See Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Fast Facts: Firearm Violence Prevention (last updated May 4, 2022) (CDC, Fast Facts), https://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/ firearms/fastfact.html. Jackson decision, those in the movement have also been contending with calling out abortion abuse where it is ongoing. Just before the Court handed down the Dobbs decision, Live Action released undercover footage showing the abuses committed by Dr. Cesare Santangelo, who performs abortions at the Washington Surgi-Clinic. 9. In the End, It Will Be the Decision of the American People to Fight for our Constitutional Republic or Submit to Tyranny – The Time Is Now

If You Are Not Yet Convinced Of The Need For A Second American Revolution, Then Read This
The following are the annotated statements of Founding Father Samuel Adams from his article “The Rights of the Colonists” in The Report of the Committee of Correspondence to the Boston Town Meeting, Nov. 20, 1772.

“Among the natural rights of the Colonists are these: First, a right to life; Secondly, to liberty; Thirdly, to property; together with the right to support and defend them in the best manner they can. These are evident branches of, rather than deductions from, the duty of self-preservation, commonly called the first law of nature.”

The Biden regime, together with its allies in the World Economic Forum and the Chinese Communist Party, consider those natural rights, not unalienable endowed by the Creator, but as privileges dispensed or withdrawn according to the convenience of the state.

Call it globalism, communism or neo-Feudalism, the intent is the same, to establish a world government by an international ruling class, who exploit the land for personal profit and rule over billions of people without liberty or property.

The usurper Biden has already declared that our rights guaranteed under the Constitution are “not absolute” and is actively in the process of eliminating them, in particular, the Second Amendment, upon which all of our other freedoms depend.

The totalitarian Klaus Schwab, head of the World Economic Forum said, “You will own nothing, and you will be happy.”

Is the Biden regime’s ongoing deliberate demolition of the U.S. economy a North American sequel to Mao Zedong’s 1958 to 1962 Great Leap Forward, a policy that led to the deaths of up to 45 million Chinese, easily making it the biggest episode of mass murder in history?

Do Americans really want to wait to find out?

    Samuel Adams also wrote:

The Legislative has no right to absolute, arbitrary power over the lives and fortunes of the people.”

Can any American today honestly believe that Washington, D.C. represents the interests of and is accountable to the people as defined by the U.S. Constitution?

The Democrat Party has permanent control of the federal bureaucracy, which is composed of unelected officials, who have the power to comprehensively regulate our lives and punish us when we don’t comply.

The Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in particular, have become political weapons against Democrat Party opponents, which has created a two-tier system of justice.

In our current de facto one-party state, Republicans play the role of court eunuchs.

The Republican Party has seceded from its voters and should be abandoned as a political vehicle capable of providing any effective opposition to the Biden regime, the Democrats or the mainstream media. It too is a party of the ruling class and the Deep State.

Once elected, members of Congress serve only their own interests, and that of their party and its wealthy donors. Petitioning Congress for the redress of grievances is an exercise in futility.

Now that our elections have proven to be a sham and our political system has been shown to be hopelessly corrupt, Americans who believe in the Constitution and the rule of law must choose either to resist or to submit to a one-party totalitarian state.our current de facto one-party state, Republicans play the role of court eunuchs.

On this July 4, 2022, we must heed the words of another Founding Father, John Adams:

“Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people; and not for profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, the people alone have an incontestable, unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government; and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness require it.”

More recently, President Ronald Reagan said:

“In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem. From time to time we’ve been tempted to believe that society has become too complex to be managed by self-rule, that government by an elite group is superior to government for, by, and of the people. Well, if no one among us is capable of governing himself, then who among us has the capacity to govern someone else?”

The United States is no longer a functioning constitutional republic.

American Colonists eventually realized that freedom could only be secured by the action of those who desire it, not as an indulgence granted by distant rulers.

Likewise, there will be no restoration of our constitutional republic emanating from Washington, D.C. from where it has been systematically dismantled to sustain a system riddled with greed and corruption.

If history is any indicator, do not expect the predicted Republican “red wave” in the November mid-term elections to significantly change anything in Washington D.C.

True change can only arise bottom-up. In the end, it will be the decision of the American people to fight for our constitutional republic or submit to tyranny.

    • Samuel was the hot-head.

The very Boston Adams, as opposed to cousins Potus-2 and Potus-6, he’s buried here rather than in Quincy like his cousins. (He didn’t want either one to have a second term in office.)

His name is everywhere here. There’s a giant statue of him in front of the administration building in the Old Harvard Yard (an inner courtyard).
Nice place for pictures, sitting on his lap.

A radical master of propaganda, he’s considered one of the instigators of the Troubles that caused the intial British occupation. Later in life he took to “promoting public virtue” – the banned in Boston movement. It’s hard to sort things out from the primary sources available.

      • I know he was an agitator and a smuggler avoiding the stamp taxes. Other then that I know nothing about him.

  11. zero hedge – EU President ‘Can’t Find’ Texts With Pfizer Chief Discussing COVID-19 Vaccine

In April 2021, European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen revealed that she had been texting with Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla for a month straight while they were negotiating a massive contract for Covid-19 vaccines.

    Now, they’re gone.

According to Reuters, “in response to a public access request by a journalist because of the importance of the deal, the Commission did not share the texts, triggering accusations of maladministration by the EU’s ombudsman, Emily O’Reilly.”

“The Commission can confirm that the search undertaken by the President’s cabinet for relevant text messages corresponding to the request for access to documents has not yielded any results,” said EU justice commissioner Vera Jourova in a letter to O’Reilly, an EU watchdog.

In the letter, the Commission argues that text messages do not need to be registered and stored because they are treated as “short-lived, ephemeral documents”. The same exception to the general registration requirement applies to documents with no important information, the letter said.

A spokesperson for the ombudsman said that it planned to publish a detailed analysis on the matter in the next couple of weeks. -Reuters

In an April 2021 NYT interview, von dery Leyen said she negotiated the ‘biggest contract ever sealed for COVID-19 vaccines’ via text messages and calls, resulting in the EU committing to purchase 900 million Pfizer-BioNTech jabs, with an option for 900 million more down the road. By the time the deal was formally announced in May 2021, the EU had already secured a wide range of vaccines from several manufacturers – including another 600 million doses from Pfizer.

Many of the EU governments who initially backed the deal are now trying to renegotiate or cut supplies of the Pfizer jab amid cratering vaccination rates and concerns over waste.

  15. Does Iran Have a Hit Team in the US?
Former U.S. and Iranian intelligence officials tell a haunting tale.

Quds Force, which the Biden White House has reportedly discussed removing from the terrorism list, has more than a hundred active agents operating inside the United States, according to former U.S. and Iranian intelligence officials.

Their current goal is to penetrate the security perimeter surrounding former President Donald J. Trump and to kill him.

The Iranian plot is not a secret: Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamene’I, boasted in January that Iranian agents inside the United States were tracking the former president’s movements, and could penetrate the security systems protecting him.

boast appeared in the form of a chilling video, posted to the Khamenei’s website and to Twitter by regime sympathizers and intelligence analysts, showing Quds Force operatives targeting the president on the tee of his West Palm Beach golf club. It ended with a photograph of Qassem Soleymani, the Quds Force commander killed by a U.S. drone strike outside the Baghdad airport on Jan. 2, 2020, and a black screen: “Revenge is Definite.”

They have also threatened to kill former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and CIA Director Gina Haspel in retaliation for their role in the drone strike that killed Suleymani and 17 others on Route Irish at the Baghdad airport. “Ironically, that’s the same road where Suleymani had killed dozens of Americans,” said John Maguire, a former CIA deputy station chief who worked in Iraq after the 2003 invasion.

U.S. intelligence agencies, including the FBI, have known for over a decade about Iranian programs to recruit and train Quds Force operatives – preferably non-Iranians – capable of penetrating Western countries.

“The Quds Force started creating this capability in Baghdad in 2004,” Maguire said. “They wanted educated candidates; ideally, candidates with foreign travel documents and experience traveling in the West. The Quds Force organized, controlled, trained and supported this capability.”

The prospective agents learned how to make improvised explosive devices out of common materials, how to identify concealed fire positions for a sniper attack, and how to conduct surveillance and counter-surveillance, among other operational skills. Many went to Lebanon for a full year’s paramilitary and martial arts training with Hezbollah.

Once these “super-agents” had completed their training, they were dispersed around the world “and we lost them,” Maguire said. “But we do know that they have been coming to the US in increasing numbers since 2011.”

I published photographs of a group of these “super-agents” in my 2005 book Countdown to Crisis: the Coming Nuclear Showdown with Iran. I obtained the pictures from former Iranian intelligence officer, Hamid Reza Zakeri. One set showed the group during the armed counter-surveillance training in Tehran. A second set showed the same men back in Iraq in civilian clothes.

Iran’s clandestine U.S. network may have emerged from the shadows in April when the FBI conducted a raid on a Washington, DC, apartment complex and arrested two men for impersonating federal officers.

The two men, Arian Taherzadeh, 40, and Haider Sher-Ali, 35, were found in possession of U.S. driver’s licenses and credit cards in different names, chip cards identifying them as DHS officers, and an astonishing arsenal of weapons, including sniper gear, high-capacity magazines, counter-surveillance detection equipment, a mini door ram and a Halligan tool used for breaching locked doors.

Investigators rushed the arrest because the two men had been tipped off in an email from a U.S. Secret Service agent that they were under investigation. Four Secret Service agents were suspended just before the April 5 arrest, including one on first lady Jill Biden’s personal protection detail, according to the FBI.

“Because of the breakneck pace of the investigation, there are many facts that we still do not know,” federal prosecutors said in a court filing. “But the facts that we do know about the Defendants – that they lied about their identities for years, stored a cache of weapons and surveillance equipment in their apartments, compromised law enforcement agents in sensitive positions, and tried to cover up their crimes – leave no doubt that their release poses a public safety risk.”

His hosts may be wondering, “With friends like these…”

    Mon Jul 4, 2022Donald Losman13 comments

From his first day in office, President Biden’s Middle East policies, a seemingly “win them over with kindness” approach, have been misguided and self-defeating. From the start, Biden strongly sought a new Iran deal, as if financially rewarding Iran for its signature would ensure its compliance. Indeed, one basis for the first deal was Iran providing its nuclear history—Iran lied. Apparently we did not learn. During the deal’s tenure Iran consistently cheated, obstructed inspections, and ramped up its ballistic missile program, which was foolishly left out of the first agreement. Iranian efforts to bring uranium enrichment to weapons-grade has continued, supposedly due to Trump’s withdrawal from the deal—talk about excuses! The mullahs are clearly determined. Over the past two years the International Atomic Energy Agency has regularly complained about Iranian non-compliance, finally issuing a resolution in early June condemning Iran after traces of uranium were found at three undeclared locations.

But isn’t it strange, or very convenient,

Authored by Brent Hamachek via HumanEvents.com,

The following address was delivered on Saturday, July 3rd, 2021 as part of the Red, White, and Blue Tour in Sturgis, South Dakota

It was 245 years ago that a brave group of American colonists sent what was effectively a legal complaint to the King of England. Inspired by the English jurist William Blackstone, the complaint contained a list of the colonists’ grievances, then demanded their independence as compensation for damages. This citizen’s complaint is commonly known as the Declaration of Independence.

We won our independence, but we now suffer under a new sort of tyrant. We find ourselves bound by the invisible chains of codependence.

We celebrate July 4th, 1776, as our nation’s birthday. It is not, in the strictest sense, the date of our birth; nor is it even the actual year. Depending on how you choose to define it, our nation was actually “born” either in 1787 (with the signing of the Constitution), in 1788 (with the ratification of the Constitution), or in 1789 (with the convening of the First Congress). What then should we call July 4, 1776? It is the day we got pregnant. What followed was a long and bloody path toward liberation and birth.

Today, the Declaration of Independence is one of the (if not the) most cherished American documents. Its language is inspiring, and it reminds us of the incredible courage shown and the price paid by those who risked and gave all to secure for us the gift of freedom. It is a foundational part of our history.

The lack of oversight for billions of dollars in US weapons pumped into Ukraine has concerned the Pentagon. They’re worried about anti-tank missiles and explosive drones ending up in the “wrong hands.”

A new investigation allegedly found some of these weapons are being sold on the dark web.

RT journalists pretended to be weapons buyers and claimed to have come in contact with Ukrainian arms smugglers offering machine guns, body armor, and some

  24. The Great Battle of Gettysburg
Gettysburg, which took place in the lead up to July 4th, 1863, remains the greatest battle ever to occur on the North American continent. There is much to learn from
    remembering it.
    By Mackubin Owens

Robert E. Lee’s smashing victory against Major General Joseph Hooker’s Army of the Potomac at Chancellorsville in May 1863 provided the Confederacy with three strategic options: shift resources from Virginia to Mississippi in order to revive Vicksburg, the Rebel redoubt on the Mississippi River; reinforce Braxton Bragg’s Army of Tennessee, enabling him to reprise his 1862 invasion of Kentucky and maneuver the Union Army of the Cumberland under William Rosecrans out of its position in central Tennessee; or invade Pennsylvania.

But after Chancellorsville, it was probably too late to affect the outcome at Vicksburg, because the siege was already under way. (Vicksburg would fall on the Fourth of July.) And it didn’t make sense to detach forces from the Confederacy’s only successful field army, the Army of Northern Virginia, under its only successful general, Lee, and send them to other generals whose competence was questionable. In the end, Lee effectively made the case to Confederate president Jefferson Davis that the best use of limited Confederate resources was to invade Pennsylvania. As he had done in the fall of 1862, Lee intended to effect a strategic turning movement, draw the Yankees out of Virginia, and annihilate a Federal army on Union soil, forcing Lincoln to sue for peace.

After the Seven Days’ Battles on the Virginia Peninsula in June 1862, Lee had organized his Army of Northern Virginia into two corps, the first commanded by General James Longstreet and the second by General Thomas Jonathan “Stonewall” Jackson. After Jackson’s death at Chancellorsville, Lee reorganized the army into three corps: I Corps under Longstreet, II Corps under James Ewell, and III Corps under Ambrose Powell Hill. The latter two had been excellent division commanders. However, their elevation to corps command was an example of the “Peter Principle” at work: promotion to a level above one’s competence. Lee would sorely miss Jackson in Pennsylvania.

Uruguayan judge demands explanations regarding Pfizer’s COVID-19 vax

An Uruguayan court has ruled that the national government and the laboratory Pfizer must disclose during a hearing this coming Wednesday the exact components of the COVID-19 vaccine of that brand which is widely used throughout the country.

The Uruguayan government and the pharmaceutical were given 48 hours by Judge Alejandro Recarey to submit detailed information on the anticovid vaccines while dealing with an injunction request to halt vaccination among children aged 5 and over which is nevertheless carried out voluntarily.

As per the court’s decision, the Executive and the U.S. laboratory will have to provide documentation on the composition of the vaccines, including the possible presence of “graphene oxide” or “nanotechnological elements,” it was reported.

Also requested are data demonstrating the “innocuousness” of “the substance called messenger RNA” and that “the experimental nature” of the vaccines be accredited.

The judge also demanded explanations as to whether studies have been carried out “to explain the notorious increase in deaths due to covid-19 as of March 2021 in relation to the previous year.”

Pfizer will also have to address the issue “of adverse effects of the vaccines against the so-called Covid-19. In general, and also in detail in relation to the child population,” according to the court document.

Representatives of the Uruguayan Presidency and the Health Ministry as well as from the US pharmaceutical company are to appear at Wednesday’s hearing.

The Uruguayan Ministry of Public Health, the State Health Services Administration, and the Presidency have also been required to submit all the information regarding the contract for the purchase of vaccines, where the clauses of civil indemnity or criminal impunity of the suppliers in the event of adverse effects are to be examined.

U.S. Focus on the Indo-Pacific Drives Resurgence of UNCLOS Ratification Effort

Earlier this year, a group of Democratic members of Congress introduced an amendment to the America COMPETES Act, a bill aimed at boosting U.S. manufacturing and technology capabilities in order to compete with China. The amendment consisted of a “sense of Congress,” which asserts that “it is in the national interest for the United States to become a formal signatory of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).” It further states that ratification of UNCLOS remains a top priority of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard, “the importance of which was most recently underscored by the strategic challenges the United States faces in the Asia-Pacific, the Arctic, and the Black Sea regions.” In February, the amendment passed the lower chamber.
