Reader’s Links for June 20, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

    • I hate working k. This phone.

Yup the leaders of the radical around the world want a major that will collapse the entire world letting them take over. People like us are doing what we can to prevent the collapse.

      • Yes we are Richard but I am having a hard time thinking about all the babies to 4 years old who are now going to be given this poison. Why are WE allowing this? Where are all the politicians and doctors? How much would it take for you to sell your soul?

        • It happened slowly, just as revolutions happen, it was one small step at a time over (roughly) 130 years. The coming revolution has been building over the last 50 to 60 years in the US and longer in Britain and the Commonwealth nations.

    • zero hedge – Russia Demands Lithuania Lift “Openly Hostile” Blockade; Panic Buying Ensues

Update (1100ET): The Russian Foreign Ministry has responded to Lithuania’s partial blockade of Kaliningrad, writing in a statement that they consider the “provocative measures” to be “openly hostile” and warning that the Kremlin may take action to “protect its national interests.”

Kaliningrad is sandwiched between the EU and NATO members Poland and Lithuania. Supplies from Russia are delivered via rail and gas pipelines through Lithuania – which announced last week that it was banning the rail transit of goods subject to EU sanctions, which include coal, advanced technology, metals and construction materials.

“If in the near future cargo transit between the Kaliningrad region and the rest of the territory of the Russian Federation through Lithuania is not restored in full, then Russia reserves the right to take actions to protect its national interests,” the statement reads.

They have demanded that Lithuania immediately lift the ban on a number of goods to the Kaliningrad region.

[…]Quite possibly the biggest Russia-West provocation of the entire four-month long war in Ukraine has occurred this weekend, but few in the media establishment seem to be taking notice of the singular event which has the potential to quickly spiral toward a WW3 scenario.

    • ctv news – Associated Press – Lithuania defends ban on some goods to Russia’s Kaliningrad

Lithuania on Monday defended its decision to bar rail transit from Russia to a Russian Baltic Sea exclave of goods hit by European Union sanctions, in a move that drew Moscow’s strong anger amid high tensions in the region.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said his country was simply implementing sanctions imposed by the EU, of which it is a member. He said the measures implemented Saturday were taken after “consultation with the European Commission and under its guidelines.”

“Sanctioned goods (will) no longer be allowed to transit Lithuanian territory,” Landsbergis added.

[…]The EU’s top diplomat, Josep Borrell, said Lithuania’s move should not be compared to the situation in Ukraine. “The rest of the world will not be affected by what is happening in Kaliningrad, but the rest of the world is very much affected by what is happening in Ukraine,” he said.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba tweeted: “Russia has no right to threaten Lithuania. Moscow has only itself to blame for the consequences of its unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Ukraine.”

[…}starting July 10, similar sanctions will be implemented on concrete and alcohol goods, from Aug. 10 on coal and from December no Russian oil will be allowed into EU territory.

al jazeera – Russia warns Lithuania over Kaliningrad restrictions

Moscow decries ‘openly hostile’ move to limit the flow of EU-sanctioned goods to Russian exclave, as Lithuania defends measures.

[…]Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis defended the move and said his country was simply implementing sanctions imposed by the EU, of which it is a member.

[…]Urging citizens not to resort to panic buying, Alikhanov said two vessels were already ferrying goods between Kaliningrad and Saint Petersburg, and seven more would be in service by the end of the year.

“Our ferries will handle all the cargo”, he said on Saturday.

Home to the headquarters of Russia’s Baltic sea fleet, the exclave was captured from Nazi Germany by the Red Army in April 1945 and ceded to the Soviet Union after World War II.

  1. Israel coalition agrees to dissolve, hold new elections

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s office announced Monday that his weakened coalition will be disbanded and the country will head to new elections.

Bennett has struggled to keep his unruly coalition of eight parties together, and defections have left the crumbling alliance without a majority in parliament for over two months.

Bennett and his main coalition partner, Yair Lapid, decided to present a vote to dissolve parliament in the coming days, Bennett’s office said. Lapid is then to serve as caretakever prime minister.

The election, expected in the fall, would be Israel’s fifth in three years.

  2. haaretz – Israel COVID Cases Hit New High as Health Ministry Warns of Sixth Wave

70 percent of infections in Israel now stem from the new COVID variant BA-5, which is more contagious than it’s predecessors

Israel recorded over ten thousand new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, the highest number since April,

[…]Ash reiterated the ministry’s call from earlier this month for at-risk populations to resume wearing masks in enclosed spaces.

[…]The latest increase in cases is due to a combination of several factors, including new and faster spreading variants such as BA5, COVID fatigue and vaccination inertia,

[…]While there will likely be an increase in deaths among those not fully vaccinated, the situation now is not comparable to that of earlier waves,

Times of Israel – Israel sees over 10,000 new coronavirus cases, highest daily number since April

Health Ministry reports 168 people in serious condition, a rise of 95% from last week; health officials tell hospitals to prepare for reopening of dedicated COVID-19 wards

According to the latest figures, 10,202 out of the 29,681 tests conducted on Sunday came back positive, putting the positivity rate at 38.9 percent.

The ministry also reported that 168 people were in serious condition — a rise of 95% from last week — with 37 of them classified as critical.

[…]Additionally, officials will also consider authorizing COVID-19 vaccines for the youngest children after US regulators on Friday gave their approval for the first shots for infants and preschoolers. According to the Ynet news site, the Health Ministry will discuss the matter at a meeting on Tuesday.

  3. Human trials of combo vaccine for COVID-19 and flu

Moderna’s chief medical officer has revealed details of a new vaccine for COVID-19 and flu.

    • Yeah, there was talk about this months ago. When Moderna proved even LESS effective than Pfizer, and their staff was quitting en masse.

Moderna has NEVER brought a product to market. Their covid vaxx doesn’t count: govt-generated and inflicted, nothing but a piggy-back on guinea pigs. (Which is probably a point in their favor, better than name brands Pfizer, J&J, and A-Z.)

Now they’re churning stock on “FLUVONA”.
      {sigh}

Their business model is the transformational potential of mRNA tech. Flexible and flashy, marketing has it curing every malady from cancer to ALL infectious diseases, irrespective of pathogen. A magic wand.

  4. city news – Quebec’s immunization committee recommends fifth COVID-19 dose for some

Quebecers 60 and over – and vulnerable individuals – should receive a fifth dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by the end of the summer, said the province’s immunization committee in a recommendation on Monday.

In addition to seniors, people living with a chronic disease, on dialysis, pregnant women and health care workers should also be targeted by this next vaccination campaign said the CIQ – Comité sur l’immunisation du Québec.

Between the second booster and this one, a period of three months should be respected as well.

Quebec has yet to officially make an announcement on this fifth dose.

Recommendations may be updated over the summer, as there are still several uncertainties regarding the evolution of influenza and COVID-19 circulation over the next few months and the efficacy or availability of vaccines.

The eventual availability of a vaccine adapted to the Omicron variant could imply a revision of the fall immunization strategy, particularly with regard to the relevant vaccine to be used and the optimal time for the next COVID-19 immunization campaign.
