Reader’s Links for June 6th and 7th, 2022

(Sorry to have missed these yesterday and today)

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. city news – Walk against Islamophobia in Ottawa

Muslims from across Canada came to Ottawa

    • Let’s not forget Sara Anne Widholm, 75 year old lady who was beaten to death by 20 year old Muslim Habibullah AhMAD.

    • Let’s not forget 25 year old Gmail Rodrigues Liass Gharbi aka Marc Lepine, the Muslim who shot and killed 14 women and wounded 10 other women and 4 men at Ecole Polytechniqque. He admired Adolf Hitler, disliked feminist Carter women and stated women belong in the home. He planned his attack for months.

    • To all news media in Canada commenting on gun control.

When reporting Faisal Hussain, 29 year old Muslim, would never have been able to shoot and kill 10 year old Julianna Kozis, 18 year old Reese Fallon and wound many others if he was not allowed to have a gun, the guns he had were illegal. He did not buy any of them.

He may have acquired some from his brother, Fadad 31, the man who was found unconscious in a home in Pickering, Ontario with 42 KILOS OF CARFENTANIL, some white powder believed to be cocaine, 32 stolen, identical high-end hand guns and an arsenal of ammunition.

India’s ruling party, the BJP, has suspended two senior members for making derogatory comments about the Islamic Prophet Muhammad.

  3. Leeds Protest Against Lady Of Heaven Disparaging Islamophobic Movie

We reject the disparaging movie which insults the Prophet and slanders his Companions, Family and Wives .

    • DAILY MAIL – Cineworld pulls £12m film on Prophet Muhammad’s daughter after hundreds of Muslim protesters picketed movie theatres and branded it ‘blasphemous’ over Islamic history ‘inaccuracies’

The release of The Lady of Heaven, a £12m historical drama, has prompted outrage among some Muslims

It is billed as depicting the life of Lady Fatima, who is one of the daughters of the Prophet Muhammad

Protesters have gathered outside cinemas in Sheffield, Bolton and Birmingham that were showing the film

Cineworld pulled the film after four days of protests saying it was to ‘ensure the safety’ of staff and customers
      —————————–
Made in Britain for £12million, the film opens with the invasion of Iraq by ISIS and features a graphic jihadist murder, before telling the story of Lady Fatima, one of the daughters of the founder of Islam.

Islamic tradition forbids the direct portrayal of religious figures, with previous depictions of prophets leading to protests and even murders amid accusations of blasphemy.

Director Eli King depicts Fatima as a faceless character, shrouded by a black veil to avoid doing this.

  4. ctv news – Over 500 Quebecers vaccinated against monkeypox so far: health officials

As monkeypox cases rise, just over 500 Quebecers have been vaccinated against the virus, according to public health officials.

“We’re vaccinating in a very targeted way. So we vaccinated people that had high-risk exposure in the last 14 days,” said Dr. Genevieve Bergeron, Montreal’s medical officer responsible for health emergencies and infectious diseases.

The majority of Quebec cases are in Montreal. According to Bergeron, the city has reported 82 cases, although not all of them have been officially confirmed.

Canada’s first two confirmed cases were detected on May 26 in Quebec, which remains the province with the highest number of cases.

Although monkeypox is not classified as a sexually-transmitted disease, Bergeron said most of the province’s current cases have spread through sexual contact.

“We’re seeing the chain of transmission mainly in social networks in men who have sex with men,” said Bergeron.

According to the World Health Organization, monkeypox is transmitted through close contact with an infected uindividual. Transmission between people is thought to primarily occur through large respiratory droplets, which generally do not travel far and would require extended close contact. However, the virus can also be transmitted through skin-to-skin contact, as well as contact with infected material and surfaces.

Bergeron said anyone who believes they may have monkeypox should self-isolate and notify those they’ve been in contact with.

Symptoms of monkeypox include fever, headache, muscle aches, exhaustion, swollen lymph nodes and sores.

reuters – Kremlin says Ukraine must demine its coast for grain to be exported

The Kremlin said on Tuesday that Ukraine needed to demine the approaches to its ports in order for ships to be cleared by the Russian military before they could export grain.

“[President Vladimir] Putin has said: Ukraine must demine the approaches to its ports,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call.

“This will allow ships, once checked by our military, to enter the ports, load grain and with our help, proceed to international waters.”

reuters – Ukraine not ready to export grain via Belarus – Zelensky

Ukraine is not ready to agree to a plan to export its grain by rail across Belarus for shipment via the Baltic Sea to bypass Russia’s blockade of its Black Sea ports, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday.

Zelensky told a news conference in the capital Kyiv that there could be as much as 75 million tonnes of grain stuck in Ukraine this autumn.

Belarus, used by its ally Russia as a staging ground for Moscow’s Feb. 24 invasion, has said it is ready to let Ukrainian grain go via the country to Baltic Sea ports, if Belarus is allowed to ship its goods from the ports as well.

the guardian – Plan to ship grain out of Ukraine dealt blow due to mines

Turkish offer to escort ships through Black Sea blockade would face six-month wait for mine clearance, says Ukraine

A plan mediated by Turkey amid a global food crisis to open shipping corridors out of Ukrainian ports has been dealt a blow as officials in Kiev said it would take six months to clear the coast of Russian and Ukrainian mines.

Turkey’s defence minister, Hulusi Akar, said in a statement released on Tuesday that his government was making progress with the UN, Russia and Ukraine on reopening ports under Russian blockade in the Black Sea. The ships leaving Ukrainian ports would be given safe escort by Turkish naval vessels under the plan.

The development appeared to offer some hope as the UN warned that the war in Ukraine – a major exporter of grain – was fuelling crippling shortages of food around the world and pushing millions of people into famine. However, Ukraine’s first deputy minister of agrarian policy and food, Taras Vysotskyi, responded that even if Russia lifted its blockade, thousands of mines would remain floating off the port of Odesa and elsewhere.

Vysotskyi said that Ukraine was able to export a maximum of 2m tonnes of grain a month – compared with the 6m tonnes before the war – and that it would take until the end of the year to clear the mines.

“I think we reached the limit,” Vysotskyi told participants at an International Grains Council conference. “The biggest amount we can export is about 2m tonnes a month.”

It is estimated that more than 20m tonnes of grain are stuck in Ukraine’s silos. The country has faced severe capacity constraints while trying to export its grain by road, river and rail.

The Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, told reporters on Tuesday that it was the responsibility of Ukraine’s government to clear the coastal waters of mines in order to allow the resumption of exports. “This will allow ships, once checked by our military, to make sure they are not carrying any weapons, to enter the ports, load grain and with our help, proceed to international waters,” he said.

Russia’s defence minister, Sergei Shoigu, said the Russian occupied ports of Berdiansk and Mariupol had already resumed their operations. “The de-mining of Mariupol’s port has been completed,” Shoigu said during an appearance on Russian television. “It is functioning normally and has received its first cargo ships.”

The Russian claims could not be independently verified, and at a UN security council meeting on Monday evening in New York, the European Council president, Charles Michel, accused Russia of using food supplies as “a stealth missile against developing countries”.

Michel said Russian forces had stolen grain from occupied Ukrainian territories “while shifting the blame to others,” calling this behaviour “cowardly” and “propaganda, pure and simple”. His comments prompted the Russian ambassador to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, to walk out.

Meanwhile, on a visit to Lithuania, the German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, said his government was ready to increase its military presence in the Baltic region in response to the war in Ukraine. “We have agreed to strengthen the eastern flank of Nato by creating a new strong brigade here,” he said.

Lithuania borders Kaliningrad, a Russian enclave where the Kremlin’s Baltic Sea fleet is based. A brigade is comprised of 3,000 to 5,000 soldiers.

Scholz also promised to continue supplies of necessary weapons, and troops’ training to Ukraine. He dismissed claims that Germany was hesitating with supplies of heavy weaponry, including most modern howitzers.

He said: “We have far-reaching sanctions now that will set back the Russian economy by decades. That means it will not be able to participate in global economic and technological progress. We know from reports that this means that Russia will not even be able to retain its military capacities at the same level.”

Gitanas Naus?da, Lithuania’s president, welcomed Scholz’s comments, saying the Russian military threat would “remain a major source of threat to regional security”.

        • “No grain will go anywhere to anyone” until the issue of Ukraine’s security is resolved.

Ukraine will not be able to resume grain supplies until it is safe, said the head of the National Security and Defense Council, Oleksiy Danilov, on the air of the telethon on Wednesday, June 8.

“If the question that our country will be safe is not resolved, no grain will go anywhere to anyone. Because for us the number one issue is security,” he said.

According to Danilov, this “issue is under control” because “no one wants to see hunger in the world.”

He accused Russia of creating artificial obstacles to Ukrainian exports, “in order to seize the market for itself, and then blackmail us because of the lack of food.”
