Reader’s Links for May 7th, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Just walked my dog. I figure in the dog world the morning walk is their version of reading the morning news. Sniff a tree or a hydrant and it’s like, “…In the news today Barney the three-legged Beagle from 875 peed on this hydrant yesterday…update at 11.” Dogs must glean volumes from sniffing. My guy crossed over into the human headlines by laying a handsome loaf at an Andrea Horwath election sign. She’s the Ontario communist candidate in the upcoming provincial election. We meandered on through the week’s headlines. Meander.

Yesterday the Radio Man reported the Kingston, Ontario paramedic service was putting out an S.O.S.. They can’t keep up with demand, the spokesperson said. Paramedics finish a call and are immediately back out to the next. I searched briefly for a link to include here, but there are so many stories of emergency-service deficits in all of Ontario from the last two years I gave up. No real reason was provided for the Kingston demand increase except for the muttering of “Covid”. Rural calls are especially hard to get to in a timely fashion, he said. I wondered if this was the nascent effort to draw populations into the city, a la Agenda 2030. Maybe a stretch, but don’t forget the United Nations has a far more regional, local grasp on the minutia of our lives than we realize. In fact, you likely live in a city that signed up to the Agenda without even knowing it. I know I do.

Narrowed city roadways, bicycle paths, roadway intrusions, speed bumps, more restrictive signage prohibiting right or left turns, new one-ways, new condos constructed without parking requirements, parkways that for years had no traffic lights now having many–there are myriad manifestations of an anti-auto culture in my town. Our non-driving freedom-hating Mayor is another. The guy is a walking Woke billboard who drips contempt for the non-woke. If he isn’t one of the shape-shifting WEF “young” losers, he should be.

Electric vehicle government subsidies are also be a great way to get more people into range-limited private transport. The UN doesn’t want rogue wanderers of the hinterland, do they.

Also yesterday I saw a military Chinook helicopter trundle overhead. I know the word “trundle” isn’t meant to describe aircraft, but trundle the Chinook does. I wondered what it was up to, besides a couple thousand feet. I suppose I thought about this a little more in light of the recent light cast on revelations that Dear Leader had the Dystopian military doing surveillance of the civilian population during the truckers’ convoy. The word “ominous” seems suitable to describe this, but then many things seem ominous these days. Ominous are so many sick people ambulances can’t keep up. Makes a fella want to find a corner of the world where he can just be left alone. (I like the sound of Eritrea lately. Not the place, just the sound.) I can read the headline in my mind: “Trudeau’s Totalitarianism Trundles Through Dystopia”. Trundle. Trundle. Trundle. Say any word enough times and it loses meaning, turning it almost into an onomatopoeia. Onomatopoeia is even sort of a weird sound word. Try it yourself. Try saying “faggot” about 50 times in a row. Faggot. Faggot. Faggot. See? Weird, huh?

I can say this is particular word because Dear Leader called those in parliament this week who disagreed with him faggots. Given that the slang meaning of it is hateful and very non-inclusive, I conclude Dear Leader was either referring to a bundle of sticks or, brilliantly, urging on the mass line repetition of a hurtful, hateful word so to erase its very meaning! I think we’ve seriously underestimated this little stinker. I mean, the Left is virtuoso in its use of language, but this takes the cake. Reducing words by repetition into sound dust is next-level stuff. I hope Dystopia’s Capital Mayor wears a t-shirt every day with this very word boldly printed on it in solidarity to Dear Leader’s brave effort. Faggot! There, I’ve done my part for this noble cause.

Also yesterday I tried calling the police to report a suspicious package. The package was in the form of a man standing in a driveway beside a place of personal interest. He asked a passerby questions about the property as if he was casing the joint. I thought I’d call the cops to give them a heads up, just for the record, in case something happened. But nobody picked up. I couldn’t get a real person. It wasn’t a call to merit calling 911, so I got lost in directory Hell.

Between overwhelmed paramedics and police who won’t pick up, I get the distinct feeling we’ll be on our own in the event of a really large emergency. Because of this we will be well off to assemble our own communities. Maybe you’ll get lucky and be able to wave down a passing Chinook helicopter when you need one, but I doubt it. They’re not there for you in the helpful sense.

In Dystopia there is no shortage of policing in the service of the state. We’ve recently seen enough of this as proof. As for service for the individual, well, try screaming “BUNDLE OF STICKS!” to see if anyone picks up. I doubt they will.

I lay my proverbial loaf at Dear Leader’s fanciful socks.

Oh, but there’s this definition, too, that I was unaware of:

“Faggots are meatballs made from minced off-cuts and offal, especially pork (traditionally pig’s heart, liver, and fatty belly meat or bacon) together with herbs for flavouring and sometimes added bread crumbs. It is a traditional dish in the United Kingdom, especially South and Mid Wales and the English Midlands.”

Dear leader’s use of the word is a mystery. A homosexual wrapped inside a bundle of sticks wrapped inside a meatball. Brilliant to dust.

    • I hadn’t heard Blackface say “faggot”. The fascist logo is a bunch of sticks. And he fits the definition of an offal meatball.

Boston has already kettled many neighborhoods. Though to be fair, the city is tiny and more densely populated than Toronto.

We gave up the car. No parking provisions for clusters of urban highrises, and renting a space costs almost as much as apt rent.

Our new Mayor is a soft spoken, Chinese communist woman. The message has been received: now gangs of feral black children are attacking anybody white on the Boston Common – serious injuries. Seems not to be a matter for law enforcement – though insulting these miscreants would most certainly carry a heavy penalty.

Our Sikh friends guard the kids as they walk to shul and onegs on Shabbat. They’ve gotten used to being screamed at from would-be jihadis following them in cars.

This year the focus is likely to be on the parade to deflect attention from Russia’s sluggish campaign in Ukraine.

  7. zero hedge – FDA Investigating Reports Of COVID Relapses Following Use Of Pfizer’s Pill

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is investigating reports of relapses among people who took Pfizer’s COVID-19 pill.

The FDA “is evaluating the reports of viral load rebound after completing paxlovid treatment and will share recommendations if appropriate,” an agency spokesperson told The Epoch Times in an email.

In a recent preprint case report, Veterans Affairs researchers reported that a 71-year-old male who took the pill, also known as nirmatrelvir, experienced a “rapid and progressive reduction” in the viral load of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19.

But four days after completing the treatment course, there was a “surprising rebound of viral load and symptoms,” they reported.

The report “highlights the potential for recurrent, symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 replication after successful early treatment” with the pill, the researchers said.

A number of others have said they saw renewed symptoms after taking paxlovid.

In the FDA’s evaluation (pdf) of data on paxlovid, which the agency cleared on an emergency basis in 2021, the agency reported that in an ongoing phase 2/3 trial run by Pfizer, several participants “appeared to have a rebound” in viral load five to nine days after completing their treatment courses.

In light of the new reports, additional analyses of the paxlovid trial data were performed and showed that 1 to 2 percent of the patients had one or more positive COVID-19 tests after testing negative, or an increase in the amount of viral load, after completing the treatment, Dr. John Farley of the FDA said in an interview the agency published on May 4.

“This finding was observed in patients treated with the drug as well as patients who received placebo, so it is unclear at this point that this is related to drug treatment,” he said, adding that, at this time, the reports “do not change the conclusions from the paxlovid clinical trial which demonstrated a marked reduction in hospitalization and death.”

As part of the authorization agreement, the FDA said Pfizer must later submit information regarding “prolonged virologic shedding or rebound in clinical trials.”

Pfizer did not respond to a request for comment.

The company told Bloomberg that the rate of rebound in its trial was not higher among people who took paxlovid than in people who took a placebo.

“This suggests the observed increase in viral load is unlikely to be related to paxlovid,” the company said.

Dr. Clifford Lane, deputy director for clinical research at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told the outlet that the agency will study the issue, calling it “a priority.”

Lane and the agency did not return queries.

The FDA authorized paxlovid for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 in Americans 12 years or older. To get the pill, a person must test positive for COVID-19 and be deemed at high risk of progressing to severe disease.

  8. CTH – Comrade Neil Oliver Discusses Living as a Dissident Through Orwellian Times

Comrades, in his weekly monologue Neil Oliver walks through the stages of mental exhaustion the corrupt globalists have created in order to retain power.

Looking at the landscape through the prism of George Orwell’s prescient warnings, Oliver ponders if the mirrored reality is actually their roadmap.

The Ministry of Abundance positioned to discharge the pending scarcity.

The Ministry of Peace now used to carry out wars without authority.

The Ministry of Truth purposefully created to retain lies…. and so it goes.

Indeed as the warning was predicted, even “to wear an improper expression on your face (to look incredulous when a victory was announced, for example) was itself a punishable offense.
There was even a word for it in Newspeak, facecrime it was called.”

The Global Ministry of Nutrition now instructs us to enjoy the benefits of eating bugs, slugs and “lab-grown meat” amid rising costs of farming.

The Ministry of Residential Equity promotes the benefits of tiny houses; shared space cubicles where owning nothing leads to increased happiness.

The Ministry of Education replaces academic endeavors with emotional learning. Math replaced by pansexual dance lessons for the non-binary kindergarteners.
