Reader’s Links for April 14th, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

We are just like you. Imposters who demand inclusion.

    islam is a Religion.
    Socialism is a Political Movement.
    Sexualism is a gender

When they get into the kaaba… they throw out every differing belief. What remains is their true colors:

    Communism

“In 2013, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) removed “gender identity disorder” from its diagnostic manual. The APA now refers to conversion therapy techniques as “sexual orientation change efforts (SOCE)” or “gender identity change efforts (GICE).” It’s coined the terms to differentiate from evidence-based forms of therapy. But providers, usually unlicensed, can often disguise the terms they use to avoid being found.”

      • There are people willing to convert children, to steal their souls, within madrasas, schools and libraries. To put fear into their hearts, and accuse their innocence as hatred.

If you are not with them you are against them, they say.

Death to the apostate – commanded for every muslim.
People go missing – under Communism’s secret police.
        Cancel culture – under LGBTQ+.

The West is filled with these righteous children. Prejudiced by a wrong of their father, as the model of their future.

The socialism of the parent-guardian State, that skims off the wealth of capitalism, to create a Welfare System, a parallel life in their poverty of ‘each according to their need.’ Everyone is forced to coexist. Ban people from freely associating and hiring.

The Catholic Church only hires male virgins as priests. Oh, that’s Diversity of Belief, they say.

“”Mummy, why’s that man wearing a funny hat? And why is his face so brown?”
You are mortified. Your first instinct might be to hush your child and offer an apologetic smile. But is that the right response?”
        https://www.bbc.co.uk/tiny-happy-people/how-to-talk-to-young-child-about-race-racism/zrgcf82

The first instinct is to say you don’t know and ask the owner of the look-alike turban why they wear it, or read a book. This BBC article was not aimed at creating African-guilt of a person being so lightly skinned, whose first instinct is not hush their child and offer an apologetic smile. Because the Sikh is fully able to reply to the innocence of the child as well as the parent. “The Emperor has no clothes,” is a voice that is a joy to hear and will have the bus full of mirth, not depressed with apology.

I awoke from a dream this morning with a muslim approaching me to ask why I said such horrible things about islam. My right brain responded only to his feeling of offense. This was not my intention. This question was unanswerable, I was voiceless in this dream. Only when I came out of my stupor did my left brain contextualise it: women in burquas, murder in the streets, death to apostasy.

The right-brain existence – with a voiceless left-brain – forgets and goes back to grazing. They do not have the father in them. They live off emotional resentment as their memory by reliving and avoiding their upset every day with a pride of judgement.

So they do not see the feeder at work. Only enamoured with the glamour of the willing-slave who has virtue and pride to promote her safe space.

        Fatherless.

The Christian story of “repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.” To wake them out of their trance. To be like the child on a bus. To be born again.

The worship of a God-Man, is to put a man on a pedestal out of reach. To block-out his teaching to take us back to the pain to repentance and becoming whole once again.

They will curse those who say ‘you can shake the sand from your sandals and simply walk away from mind-prisons’.

And if you do build your own kingdom and chose people only of merit; then they will say its not fair or diverse enough.

The Christian Bible that they don’t understand and overlay with gold, is banned in islamic, Communist and LGBTQ+ communities that do.

For it teaches the way to the truth to the life that will set us free.

  2. Once when I was 17 a man sold me a ’77 Dodge Monaco. When I pulled into my driveway at home the driver-side door fell off. The man who sold me the car was a family friend. Some friend. I vowed to myself to learn more about cars so I wouldn’t be suckered again.

In 2008-09 I lost a lot of money in the stock market fall. When I saw my portfolio manager at my bank he said to me, “Well, at least you’ve got your health.” I wondered if the bastard used that line on every customer after he’d cost them their savings. Probably. For self-preservation I vowed to learn more about money. I took what was left and walked away.

Yesterday while standing in the line-up at my bank the t.v. chirped on the wall. The Governor of the Bank of Canada was explaining the Bank’s decision to raise the interest rate a whole half percent. The cost of money has not been so cheap for so long in the history of peoplekind. Imagine that, and the economic and financial distortions it has created.

The gold standard against which most things used to be compared was the U.S. 10-Year Treasury bill. This was the safest place to put your money with a guaranteed return. Being the money rock it was, it provided a pilar, or anchor from which the market function of price discovery was derived. Price discovery is, self-descriptively, the process by which a free and open economy evaluates its assets. Successive American central planners (Keynes’ progeny), artificially suppressing the price of money for their political masters’ benefit, have distorted the 10-Year and its functions beyond utility and repair. Standing there in the bank, I listened to a 50-cent money mechanic hiding behind 10-dollar words explaining to his customers that their economic door had fallen off.

He had the unmitigated gall to talk about maintaining the 2% inflation rate target. This magical number of 2% is the preferential rate of money supply growth. At this rate the peoplekind don’t feel the ponzi operation they are in. Their wealth and savings are eroded at a compounded rate of 2% annually. It’s a sneaky-fast way of hiding an exponential tax while simultaneously financing political pimps. For perspective, consider the true rate of inflation by proper measurement, not the alchemy used to fool us today:

    http://www.shadowstats.com/

So, by disregarding the false CPI (Consumer’s Price Index) we get a real inflation rate between 11-16%.

Yesterday’s BoC announcement raises the official rate to 1%. This places the REAL interest rate at -10 to -15%. This is how much Canadians’ purchasing power is currently declining on an annualized basis.

The historical cost of mortgages for home buyers in the U.S. and Canada since 1971 averaged around 8%. Savings accounts got a little less, of course. Note how these rates were anchored:

    https://www.macrotrends.net/2016/10-year-treasury-bond-rate-yield-chart

In his address the Governor blamed rising inflation on price rises in commodities and supply-chain issues. This is a slight of hand. Indeed, the plandemic and Ukraine war have severely damaged supply chains, and in doing so have contributed to the scarcity of goods and hence their rising prices. But before all this it is the exponential increase in the money supply that depreciates currencies against all tangible assets. Before Covid (BC) the printed money flowed first to those closest to the printing presses–the commercial bankers. During Covid central planners sustained the locked-down masses by giving them money directly. This released the inflation hounds, so to speak. Blaming Putin and inanimate objects for inflation is the central bank’s way of distracting an unwary public from its own malfeasance. “Normalising” interest rates to anything resembling the mean is a fantasy road under the current circumstances. The Governor also remarked on efforts to get inflation back to the 2% target. This humble economic autodidact looks at the distance between the posted, official interest rate and the posted, official rate of inflation, and sees a fairy-tale narrative so utterly delusional that it is criminal in its depth and breadth. For all that I don’t know, I do suspect that inflation will not be tamed until real interest rates are near positive, which means they must match real inflation rates, which means we must see 11-16% before any meaningful taming occurs.

He also spoke about quantitative tightening, which is another 10-dollar expression that means the Canadian government will stop buying its own debt to finance its own communist agenda. Another sad fantasy.

Using Ludwig Von Mises’ Regression Theorem:

    https://dbpedia.org/page/Regression_theorem

We learn that all fiat currencies today are derivatives of the U.S. dollar. The USD is a derivative of hard money (gold and silver). Even block chain currencies are derivatives of the USD, hence are derivatives of hard money. How’s that for perspective the next time you wonder if you should get in on Bitcoin?

Yesterday the Governor of the Bank of Canada, Tiff Macklem, sold the Canadian people(kind) a ’77 Monaco with no doors. Frankly, I’m surprised he didn’t finish his frame by deifying Dear Leader in good ol’ Soviet fashion while offering Dystopians a Five-Year Plan replete with grain harvest goals for the glory of the State collective. More broadly, the same cover of war and inflation is likely being used to bring down the world economy so to build it back better. Good luck with it.

    • My uncle and aunt lost everything in 2008-09.
They had retired, bought a place close to where my parents retired in Arizona. How they managed to lose so spectacularly is a mystery.

But they still had their health.
My uncle went back to work, commuting from California. It was pretty miserable.

      • They were sold security and comfort by “trusted” portfolio managers making $5-10k/year in fees. It was done on a massive scale. Luckily I was young enough to recover.

  6. The Riddle of Modern Israel’s Remarkably High Birth Rates

Israel has all the features normally associated with ultra-low fertility rates: high levels of education among women, high levels of urbanization, high levels of income. Yet from the 1990s Israel’s fertility rate started to rise.

Today it is slightly above three children per woman, compared to 1.6 and 1.7 in the UK and U.S. No other country in the OECD, with a fully developed economy, scores above two.

Israel has shown that the trend can be bucked and that it is possible to combine modernity and prosperity with a healthy level of childbearing.

    • All those people, and not ONE machete…?

What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family?

Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, polkers, or whatever else was at hand?

  8. Al-Monitor:
Russia’s War on Ukraine Taking a Toll on Gaza

Since the outbreak of the Russian war on Ukraine Feb. 24, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been affected by the crisis’ repercussions, which negatively reflected on the population’s living conditions, especially the poor and the most vulnerable. They have been affected by the soaring prices of some basic foodstuffs, such as wheat, cooking oil, sugar and some types of legumes.

Gaza imports wheat from Russia through Israel and large quantities of vegetable oil from Ukraine…

The situation of poor citizens in the Gaza Strip has exacerbated as the month of Ramadan is drawing nearer …despite the fact that this is a month of fasting for Muslims, which means fewer hours of eating and drinking. Yet spending rates during Ramadan are higher than other periods of the year, as households purchase more food supplies to use when they break their fast after sunset…

The Egyptian government has recently announced the suspension of construction works inside Gaza, due to the rise in iron and cement prices. Egypt also stopped the supply of raw materials to the Gaza Strip…

  9. What the UAE Taught Egypt about Doing Business with Israel

It took more than 40 years, but Egypt is waking up to the potential of economic ties with Israel. Signs abound that President al-Sissi wants to strengthen economic ties beyond the $15 billion natural gas deal the two countries reached four years ago.

Last October, state-owned EgyptAir began flying to Tel Aviv under its own name rather than through its unflagged Air Sinai affiliate, and in April the first direct flights between Ben-Gurion Airport and the Sinai resort of Sharm el-Sheikh took place. Earlier in the year, the leader of Egypt’s Coptic Church gave official imprimatur to pilgrimages to Jerusalem.

“The government of Egypt and the elite now realize that economic ties with Israel are a net positive. They have seen the success of the UAE and Israel, and they think they should jump on board,” says Hussain Abdul-Hussain, a research fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies in Washington.

At the same time, “Within Egypt, public sentiment against Israel is very high – that’s not going to change in the foreseeable future, as much as Sissi would like to make the change,” says Gabriel Mitchell, of the University of Notre Dame’s Tantur Center in Jerusalem.

The powerful professional syndicates, which organize doctors, lawyers and even artists, are a major source of anti-Israel feelings. Anyone doing anything that smacks of normalization with Israel is likely to be called out.

  10. Reuters Whitewashes Palestinian Terrorism – Again

Here is how Reuters covers terror attacks in Israel: “Israeli forces shoot dead Palestinian after Tel Aviv bar attack.”

Those who did not read past the headline may never find out that the dead Palestinian had walked down Dizengoff Street, the city’s most crowded commercial district, indiscriminately shooting people, murdering three Israelis.

Now the family of the dead terrorist is likely to be paid bounties by the Palestinian Authority, which is generously funded by U.S. taxpayers.

  11. CAIRO, April 14 (Reuters) – Saudi Arabian investor Prince Alwaleed bin Talal said on Thursday that as one of the major shareholders in Twitter he rejected a takeover bid by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.

“I don’t believe that the proposed offer by Elon Musk ($54.20 per share) comes close to the intrinsic value of Twitter given its growth prospects,” the prince said in a Twitter post.

Musk took aim at Twitter Inc with a $43 billion cash takeover offer on Thursday, with the Tesla CEO saying the social media giant needs to be taken private to grow and become a platform for free speech. read more

  12. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Elon Musk’s huge Twitter investment took a new twist Tuesday with the filing of a lawsuit alleging that the colorful billionaire illegally delayed disclosing his stake in the social media company so he could buy more shares at lower prices.

The complaint in New York federal court accuses Musk of violating a regulatory deadline to reveal he had accumulated a stake of at least 5%. Instead, according to the complaint, Musk didn’t disclose his position in Twitter until he’d almost doubled his stake to more than 9%. That strategy, the lawsuit alleges, hurt less wealthy investors who sold shares in the San Francisco company in the nearly two weeks before Musk acknowledged holding a major stake.

  14. (CNN)Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law on Thursday a Mississippi-style anti-abortion measure that bans the procedure after 15 weeks of pregnancy without exemptions for rape, incest or human trafficking.

The bill, which goes into effect July 1, does allow exemptions in cases where a pregnancy is “serious risk” to the mother or a fatal fetal abnormality is detected if two physicians confirm the diagnosis in writing.
The bill makes Florida the latest Republican-led state to advance a 15-week abortion ban bill this session. Additionally, the Kentucky legislature on Wednesday overrode Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear’s veto of a broad abortion bill that bans most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. And in Oklahoma, Republican Gov. Kevin Stitt on Tuesday signed a bill into law that makes performing an abortion illegal in the state, with an exception only in the case of a medical emergency.
The US Supreme Court appears poised to uphold the Mississippi law that bars abortion after 15 weeks. The fate of Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion nationwide, also hangs in the balance, and anti-abortion activists are hopeful that the court’s conservative majority will strike it down.

  16. JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel’s new laser missile defense system has successfully intercepted mortars, rockets and anti-tank missiles in recent tests, Defense Minister Benny Gantz said Thursday.

The Israeli-made laser system, designed to complement a series of aerial defense systems such as the costly Iron Dome deployed by Israel, will be operational “as soon as possible,” Gantz said.

The goal is to deploy the laser systems around Israel’s borders over the next decade, Gantz added. The tests took place last month in the Negev Desert.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said in February that Israel would begin using the system within a year, sending a message to archenemy Iran.

Gantz said the laser system would be part of “an efficient, inexpensive, and innovative protection umbrella.”

  17. Nothing to see here. Just a Palestinian swastika.

This morning, the IDF killed Shas Kamamji as he tried to resist being arrested. (Three of his brothers were arrested; another brother was one of the Palestinians who briefly escaped the Gilboa prison last September.)

Abu Ali Express has some photos of Shas Kamamji.

This one shows how peaceful he was.
The graffiti says “The people of the streets” – with a swastika.

Unlike other swastikas one sometimes sees made by Palestinians, this one isn’t accusing Israel of being Nazi. This isn’t meant to mock Jewish suffering. The graffiti shows solidarity with Nazis and Nazi philosophy in a place where it would only be seen by fellow Arabs.

  18. Another take, neither US/EU/Nato corporate media nor Putin/Russia stooges. From Asia Times.

    China’s three-pronged Ukraine problem

As Russia’s war brings US, EU, Japan, South Korea and others closer together, China needs to change tack to survive

China is experiencing three different forces that are shaking up its world. One is the war in Ukraine and the spin of the propaganda about it. The second is its ties with Europe, also strained because of the war. The third is the wild card of North Korea incensing the situation in East Asia.

China initially believed that Russia would win easily in Ukraine and therefore blamed the “special operation” by Moscow on America because of NATO’s expansion.… However, now the war is clearly turning against Russia, Chinese people realize it, and therefore America may come under a different light…

The other issue is about Europe. For decades, China has been trying to play Europe as a counterbalance to the United States and perhaps pit European issues against those of America. This policy may have scored a few successes as both Americans and Europeans were eager to run alone and against one another for the Chinese market.

However, the Ukrainian war has created a deep weakness in Europe. The European countries didn’t believe Putin would actually invade Ukraine as the US had been saying for months. Once Putin invaded Ukraine, it was as if the whole architecture of the European mindset fell apart…

[I]n the course of contacts between delegates from old and new Europe – say Germany, Poland or Romania – the Chinese seemed to their EU counterparts somehow callous about developments in Ukraine…

This had nasty consequences on April 1, when Chinese President Xi Jinping had a virtual summit with European leaders. The meeting was apparently frosty…

Europe is China’s main market and, with the US, it makes up the largest part of China’s exports… Europe and especially Germany have very significant investments in China, but this in the future could be uncertain if Europe feels that China is in fact politically backing Russia in its Ukrainian adventure.

For China, there appears to be little or no difference between the invasion of Iraq and the invasion of Ukraine.

The EU disagrees deeply with that viewpoint; although it didn’t approve of war in Iraq, it believes Ukraine is a whole different kettle of fish. The war in Iraq was to have a more orderly and peaceful Middle East; Ukraine was about spreading Russian naked power.

There is power in both instances, but one dons values and principles, the other is naked. Here, in Europe, there is an immense gap.… In Europe and its heart, Germany, geopolitics plus morals trump economics. Chinese seem to miss this, failing to address the morals of the Ukrainian situation…

    Missiles from Pyongyang

The third threat comes from North Korea. Almost trying to steal the lousy limelight away from the Ukrainian fire, North Korea has been extremely busy launching missiles up in the air and posing as a new regional threat…

With Russia embroiled in Ukraine, China is the only viable lifeline to North Korea. Therefore it becomes easy for neighbors to blame China for abetting Pyongyang’s misbehavior.

Things have changed in South Korea, too. The new president elected in March, Yoon Suk-yeol, is firmer in his policies toward the North. Therefore the two elements are bringing about a firmer stance on North Korea: a more belligerent Pyongyang and a more resolute Seoul.

This is welding back together the northern security triangle of South Korea, Japan and the US. Then, the US is saying to China that either it manages to bring North Korea back to the table to discuss a true and effective disarmament or a new campaign of stronger containment against Pyongyang will have to be put in place…

    New Russian temptation

These three elements are all external, and China is suffering internally as well. New waves of Covid are paralyzing big cities, creating panic and discontent. This can be made up for by telling people that life is also harsh in the rest of the world.

However, the news is trickling into China that life is back to normal in Western countries with more effective vaccines. Furthermore, there is the real estate crisis, with large developers practically going bust…

Beijing may be tempted to follow Russia once again.… However, Putin has opened two more issues that might keep tensions high in Europe.

He demanded to be paid in rubles for its gas and, on March 30, flew jets that violated Swedish airspace “equipped with nuclear devices.”

The West’s tide is too big to turn, and the West is economically and militarily vast, especially if one welds together the US, EU, Japan, South Korea and other countries. Then China should understand that it needs to change to survive.

Beijing may need a big plan to get out of this mess.
