Reader’s links for April 12th, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

What changed America from a land of Equal Opportunity into a prison of Equal Outcome? From the sky’s your limit to another’s opinion of your limit? The self-conquered for a meal of fairness. The slaves who became bonded to the master who feeds them.

    • We put monkeys in prison, “that’s the task,” and all we give them in the only pleasure they can have which is food The we build the Projects and no means to pay rent if they get work, and so the currency now becomes the pleasure of bling, sex and video games.

We created a fixation of wealth, gender and pointless battles.

And we manage this Diversity of Fairness to hold each other down.

      “That’s the task”

  2. “What’s that?” she asked just pointing there
Across the street and to the stairs
That went up twenty feet or more to
    Mackenzie Avenue.
    Soldiers gathered on the spot
And I was wishing they were not
    Rather rainbows, fun, or leprechauns
Or clowns just stupid standing there
Because nothing in this world made sense
Not up or down or in or out
    Yet always costing innocence
So any sense I gave to her
All fourteen weary years of her
Would best be dressed on Daddy’s plate
That somehow said things like they were
As much of what went on those days
    Presented after à la carte
The truth a dish that smelled so good
Like baking bread or apple pie
Or any fine dessert you try
But always showing up too late
    –With explanations long and high
Lost in tongues too hard to find
Too sweet or bitter both in turns
    Inadequate a father yearns
To answer all the answers sought
    To questions spoken others not
And so it was we stood and watched
These soldiers milling on the spot
    When then I mumbled mindlessly
Out loud to her quite senselessly
The bouncing ball up in my head
What were these soldiers doing here?
    “I don’t know.”

  3. Last week my 14-year old daughter had an appointment scheduled with her doctor. I attend all visits. At a previous appointment the subject of the Covid-19 injections came up. This pediatrician described herself as a “religious fanatic” when it came to the “vaccine”. Great, thought I. Just the sensible doc I need for my kid. Anyway I asked her a slew of good questions, all of which she deflected. This most recent in-person appointment the doc cancelled in favour of a phone call. She could have opted this way for many reasons, but I wonder if the fanatic is getting nervous:

  4. North Korea Celebrates 10 Years Of Kim Jong Un’s Rule

Kim Jong-Un’s new portraits and exhibitions were revealed Sunday in celebration of his 10th anniversary since becoming the Workers’ Party of Korea’s (WPK) leader.

Korean Central Television (KCTV) aired a 40-minute program Sunday featuring an anniversary celebration of Kim. North Korea displayed a large painted portrait of Kim’s image as the backdrop of the event stage during a “national meeting” of most of the country’s top leadership, however Kim was not in attendance.

[…]The events started with a week of commemorations that will also include the 110-year anniversary of the birth of Kim Il Sung, North Korea’s founder and Kim’s grandfather, on Friday.

[…]North Korean troops were seen practicing for a military parade that could be held this week, as shown in commercial satellite imagery. According to analysts, there are signs that North Korea could display its intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) at the event.

  5. UKRAINE: I posted an earlier comment re ZELENSKY refusing to meet with Germany’s President in Kiev.

This would explain why. It also demonstrates that Zelensky has no intention to negotiate, nor stop the war. Too much money is at stake.

“German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier confirmed he had the idea of visiting Kyiv, but was not welcome there. His old photos with Lavrov symbolize his commitment to Russia. Notably, Steinmeier stopped speaking pro-Russia after the open war began.”

  6. CBC – Suspended B.C. doctor continues to spread COVID-19 misinformation

Dr. Stephen Malthouse has been making appearances in small B.C. towns to warn people about vaccines, despite being suspended from practising medicine over allegations of spreading COVID-19 misinformation.

  8. Peter Hitchens:
    How NATO Lost Its Way

…[T]he political inheritors of the anti-cruise campaigners are today all hot for NATO, which I am sure they would have despised in the old days when it preserved the freedom of Western Europe through masterly inaction. These enthusiasts, for instance, desire to impose no-fly zones on Ukraine, a policy guaranteed to spread bloody war even further over the continent of Europe.

The successors of the left-wing academics who once apologized for the USSR are now severe enemies of non-Communist Russia. The herbivores of 1982 are the warmongers of 2022…

NATO had, in 10 years [by 1999], moved from being a soft-spoken, apolitical, practical bulwark of actual liberty, whose main job was to exist, to being the activist and rather noisy instrument of a new idealism.

We have all heard about beating spears into pruning hooks, but NATO has done something much more adventurous. It has beaten a shield into a sword.
