Reader’s links for April 11th, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. europravda – Brussels favours Macron in second round of voting, says expert

The French president will face far-right candidate Marine Le Pen on April 24.

    • Money is the name of the game. When they’ve enriched themselves sufficiently, Zelensky included, only then will there be a true attempt at stopping this war. And they don’t care about the people who are being used for propaganda purposes.

Meanwhile, another huge explosion in Donbass today. Just in time for planting season. I think it’s the second such explosion to occur recently.

A chemical plant that produces nitric acid, one of its main uses is in the preparation of fertilizers.

We all know Russia wouldn’t do that to itself? So, who did? All that’s left is Zelensky’s friends.

  2. How Communist Jews Made the Haggadah as Red as the Blood in the Nile

According to this Soviet Russian Haggadah, the eternal revolution of Marx and Lenin was responsible for liberating the Jews from the bondage of the bourgeois…

“Next year in Jerusalem!” cry the multiple voices of Jews around the world when they finally reach the end of the Seder, the ritual meal of Passover…

Except in Soviet Russia, where a special Haggadah was written and distributed in which the cry for revolution, not Jerusalem, was brought to the table. “This year a revolution here; next year – a world revolution!”

The communist Jews of the early Soviet Union put together special propaganda Haggadot in which the old Jewish traditions were decried and the new communist ideas were embraced.… using the language of Passover to show how communist ideals have and will continue to spread throughout the world…

“Five years before the first Komsomol Pesach all Russian proletariat and peasants performed bdikes-khomets [burning leavened bread] in the land. They removed all remnants of the rule of the bourgeoisie and landowners, gained power in their hands and defeated the enemy on all fronts.

In the fire of Great Socialistic Revolution they burned kolchaks, yudeniches, … abramoviches and said the [blessing]:

“All landowners, bourgeois and their minions – Mensheviks, SRs, CaDets, Bundists, Zionists, Poale Zions, Tsaire Zions and all other counter-revolutionists, nuisances, ne’er-do-wells and parasites should be burned in the fire of the Revolution.

Those who were already burned, shall never rise again, and as to those who will remain, we will sacrifice them and hand them over to the State Political Directorate.”

  3. Ukraine War Has Caused a Surge in Aliyah to Israel – from Russia

The number of immigrants and potential immigrants to Israel from Russia in the past two months far exceeds the number of immigrants and potential immigrants from Ukraine….

From the start of the war on Feb. 24 to the first week in April, 8,371 immigrants and potential immigrants from Ukraine have landed in Israel. At the same time, 12,593 immigrants and potential immigrants from Russia have landed in Israel. In all of 2021, only 7,700 Russians made aliyah.

Israeli officials based in Russia have also reported a huge increase in aliyah files being opened there. The officials are reluctant to speak publicly for fear that Russian authorities might try to stop the large number of Jews fleeing the country…

At the same time, there has been a dramatic slowdown in the pace of aliyah from Ukraine, attributed to the fact that those Jews who wanted to leave Ukraine had already gotten out. Moreover, many of the refugees from Ukraine hope to return there as soon as possible, which makes Europe a better place to wait out the war…

  4. Palestinian Terror Is Not “Senseless”

After a Palestinian terrorist murdered three Israelis in Tel Aviv last week, Secretary of State Tony Blinken said the U.S. “stands resolutely in the face of senseless terrorism and violence.” But is the violence really senseless?

The terrorists think their terror has a purpose. If you despise Jews and think they don’t belong in the Middle East, killing them gives you purpose. And if you fall for the propaganda from your corrupt leaders that Jews will soon take over your holy Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem, killing Jews is anything but senseless.

Since the birth of Israel, virtually every act of violence against the Jewish state has been connected to an overarching belief among Palestinians that Jews don’t belong in this region, regardless of any legitimate claims of a Jewish connection to the land.

Palestinian terror against Israelis is intentional violence rooted in deep hatred. Until Western leaders connect Palestinian terror to the anti-Jewish and anti-Zionist propaganda that emanates from Palestinian society, peace and reconciliation will remain delusional pipe dreams. It is treating intentional terror as senseless that is really senseless.

  5. What Set Off the Palestinian Terror Wave in Israel

The current wave of Palestinian violence may have been caused, ironically, by peace – the Abraham Accords and the growing acceptance of Israel by many Arab states. The Palestinians desire to somehow deal themselves back into the game, to avoid becoming irrelevant.

A great deal of their situation is the Palestinians’ own fault. Had they accepted Ehud Barak’s peace offer in 2000, they would have already had a state for 22 years. Instead, they chose a campaign of terrorist atrocities that mortally wounded the peace process.

After two decades of low-intensity conflict, missile fire and periodic mayhem by the Palestinians, Israelis today are even less likely to give up on what little strategic depth they have in hopes of peace with an enemy they do not trust.

  6. Lt.-Col. (res.) Maurice Hirsch:
The PA and Fatah Are Behind the Current Terror Wave

The current terror wave in Israel was initiated and is being fueled by the Palestinian Authority and PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah party.

In the run-up to Ramadan, the PA intensified its false rhetoric that Israel was seeking to escalate violence and destroy the Al-Aqsa Mosque. Those calls were then used to incite hatred and spark terror attacks.

Speaking on official PA TV on the first day of Ramadan, Supreme Shari’a Judge Mahmoud al-Habbash explained: In the same way as the Prophet Muhammad engaged in war during Ramadan, so too should Palestinians engage in jihad.

Ramadan is “not a month of laziness but rather…a month of jihad, conquest, and victory.”

Palestinians Vandalize Joseph’s Tomb in West Bank

Palestinians set fire to Joseph’s Tomb in the West Bank city of Nablus on Saturday night. Military spokesman … told Israeli Army Radio that 100 Palestinians marched toward the site and set it ablaze before they were dispersed by Palestinian security forces. Images on social media showed parts of the tomb inside the shrine smashed and charred.

Under the Oslo Accords, Jewish worshippers are allowed to visit the site several times a year, in coordination with Palestinian security forces. Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz said, “The vandalism of Joseph’s Tomb is a grave event and a serious violation of freedom of worship in one of the holiest places for every Jew.”

  8. The Reform Movement’s anti-Zionist Arab allies

Temple Tzedek Chicago has voted to repudiate Zionism because of “its injustice to the Palestinian people.”

Tzedek Chicago is in denial about its Jewish heritage, and about the Islamic obsession with destruction of Israel. The issues surrounding Israel’s relation with the Islamic world are not in the main policy issues, but are historical and, yes, theological.

It is not because of simple misunderstanding or denial of socio-political on-the-ground facts that Tzedek Chicago takes sides with many Arab positions, but because that congregation and other like-minded groups are undergoing a psychotic break with reality.

…[I]ntifada is an extension of jihad, and it is the moral duty of every person on the planet – including Reform Jews – to strongly oppose violent actions against civilians, even Jewish ones, despite the philosophical niceties they claim to uphold which question the legitimacy of Zionism. Beyond that, questioning the existence of Israel in favor of Islamic claims to that land is to question and oppose the destiny and history of the Jewish people.

The Haggadot of the fake “anti-Zionist” synagogue

Last week, the membership of Tzedek Chicago, a virtual synagogue that never seems to actually meet, voted to adopt anti-Zionism as a “core value.”

Their virtual seder this year will be held on the fifth night of Passover, for some reason.

Of course, their Haggadah must eliminate all mentions of Israel. In fact, the main text shaves down the Haggadah to a mere three pages.

So we see in the beginning … instead of saying that next year we should be in Israel, we should be in a “just land.”
    […]
Perhaps fittingly, the entire handout ends abruptly with the blessing on the bitter herbs.

Obviously, “Next Year in Jerusalem!” is cut out altogether, although rabbi Brant did include it in his 2010 additional readings, to include “Next year in Al Quds!”

Who is Pakistan PM frontrunner Shehbaz Sharif, the ‘can-do’ administrator?

Shehbaz Sharif, 70, the person most likely to be Pakistan’s next prime minister, is not well known outside his home country, but has a reputation domestically more as an effective administrator than a politician.

The younger brother of three-time prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz led a successful bid by the opposition in parliament to topple Imran Khan in a no-confidence vote early on Sunday that Mr Khan’s supporters tried for hours to block.

    Who is Shehbaz Sharif?
Analysts say Shehbaz, unlike his brother Nawaz, enjoys amicable relations with Pakistan’s military, which traditionally controls foreign and defence policy in the nuclear-armed nation of 220 million people.

Pakistan’s generals have directly intervened to topple civilian governments three times — and no prime minister has finished a full five-year term since the South Asian state’s independence from Britain in 1947.

Shehbaz, part of the wealthy Sharif dynasty, is best-known for his direct, “can-do” administrative style, which was on display when, as chief minister of Punjab province, he worked closely with China on Beijing-funded projects.

He also said in an interview last week that good relations with the US were critical for Pakistan for better or for worse, in stark contrast to Mr Khan’s recently antagonistic relationship with Washington…

How is he viewed within politics?
As chief minister of Punjab, Pakistan’s most populous province, Shehbaz planned and executed a number of ambitious infrastructure mega-projects… boondoggles

[D]eparting Chinese consul general wrote to Shehbaz last year praising his “Punjab speed” execution of projects under the huge China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative. The diplomat also said Shehbaz and his party would be friends of China in government or in opposition…

Unlike Mr Khan, who has regularly denounced India’s Hindu nationalist Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Sharif political dynasty has been dovish towards the fellow nuclear-armed neighbour, with which Pakistan has fought three wars…

    Who are the Sharifs?
Shehbaz was born in Lahore, to a wealthy industrial family and educated locally. After that, he entered the family business and jointly owns a Pakistani steel company…

Both brothers have faced numerous corruption cases filed by the National Accountability Bureau, including under Mr Khan’s premiership, but Shehbaz has not been found guilty on any charges.

Why is he being elected now?
No prime minister has completed a full five-year tenure in Pakistan’s 75-year history — a trend extended with the ousting of Mr Khan…

Prime ministers have been removed 18 times for different reasons, including corruption charges, military coups, forced resignations caused by infighting among ruling groups, and one assassination…

Syrian rescuers make video on Russia war strategies to help Ukraine’s first responders

Syrian rescue workers well versed in Russia’s war strategies have filmed a tutorial video for Ukrainian volunteers on how to treat casualties.

Using a dummy, members of Syria’s WHITE HELMETS civil defence force demonstrated how to apply bandages and tourniquets in a clip shot in a bombed-out building in the rebel-held town of Ariha in Idlib province, where Russian air strikes are relatively routine.

The video is the latest example of how Syrians are mobilising to share with Ukrainians bitter knowledge gleaned from more than a decade of war involving Russian forces…

Russia entered Syria’s civil war in 2015 on the side of President Bashar Al Assad’s regime, allowing Damascus to secure decisive victories in the decade-long conflict.

From besieging cities to shelling civilian infrastructure and arranging so-called “humanitarian corridors”, the strategies Moscow fine tuned in Syria are now being put into practice in Ukraine…

The many shades of racism that could get France its first female president

… Part of the massaged Le Pen strategy, undeniably successful, has been to establish distance between her policies and those of the other far-right candidate, Eric Zemmour. If both were tainted by past support for Russian President Vladimir Putin – a common characteristic of the European populist right – Mr Zemmour seemed to go even further than his rival in Islamophobic rhetoric.

His allusions to the “great replacement”, Muslims supposedly overwhelming French society and rejecting republican values, have been greeted with comprehensive disdain which Ms Le Pen has been quick to exploit.

“There is a fundamental difference,” she told one interviewer. “Mr Zemmour leads a fight against Islam. My fight is against Islamist ideology.…”

Now, support for the main parties that ran France for decades has disintegrated, leaving only Mr Macron as the obstacle to a radical presidency that would appal the western establishment.

He remains the slim favourite to win when France makes its final choice in the conclusive April 24 vote.
