Reader’s Links for March 23, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. ** The Athletes Aren’t Ok **

In Orange County, Florida there is a brand new policy for the current academic school year relating to student athletics. Starting from September 2021, all student-athletes are required to undergo an electrocardiogram and be cleared by a cardiologist prior to playing on a sports team at any of the county’s schools.

In a phone call with the Director of the Athletics Dept at an Orange County High School, he informed me that the policy was put in place by multiple counties in Florida, and the trend is picking up steam. He revealed that it’s become not uncommon for students to be identified as high risk for cardiac arrest and sudden death via these screenings. This coming May through August, there will be ECG events on campus for the convenience of the students.

Meanwhile, in New Jersey, a family medical practice posted an official notice stating that when signing student athletic health forms, IF a student has been vaccinated, they can ONLY get cleared by the clinic to compete if they undergo lab tests and possibly an echocardiogram to ensure there are no signs of heart damage. Unvaccinated students need not undergo the extra tests. I personally verified this to be the case.

Bahrain Victorious rider collapsed after opening stage
Cardiac tests have shown ‘no signs of concern’

Cardiac tests on Italian rider Sonny Colbrelli have shown no signs of “concern or compromised functions” after he collapsed at the end of the opening stage of the Volta a Catalunya, his team Bahrain Victorious said on Tuesday.

Colbrelli, 31, was edged out by Australia’s Michael Matthews on Monday in a tight end to an uphill stage finish and fell to the ground after crossing the line. Reports said medics performed CPR at the scene.

In a statement, his team said: “After being admitted to Hospital Universitari de Girona Dr Josep Trueta, Sonny Colbrelli was conscious and feeling OK. He has since been in touch with family and friends as he recovers at the hospital.

“He will undergo further tests today to discover the cause of yesterday’s incident. All cardiac tests carried out last night showed no signs of concern or compromised functions.”

In October, Colbrelli became the first Italian to win the Paris-Roubaix Monument classic in 22 years, which came a month after he captured the European road race title.

    • Focus of tripartite summit: Syria’s potential return to Arab League

During their tripartite summit in Sharm el-Sheikh on Monday, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, and United Arab Emirates Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan discussed Syria’s return to the Arab League and the ramifications of such a development for Israel and the region.

The issue rose to the forefront on Friday following Syrian President Bashar Assad’s historic visit to the United Arab Emirates – his first visit to an Arab country since Syria’s civil war erupted in 2011 – where he met with al-Nahyan….

The unprecedented summit between Bennett, el-Sissi, and al-Nahyan also touched on other regional and international issues and discussed bilateral and trilateral cooperation. They discussed the economic consequences of the war in Ukraine, specifically wheat prices – a matter of particular concern to Egypt.

The leaders also addressed the Biden administration’s desire to sign a nuclear deal with Iran and its intention to remove the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps from its blacklist of terrorist organizations. The leaders expressed their concern that such a move would only obligate Iran not to target Americans.

  5. Neo-Nazi Group Spotted at Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade in ‘Disturbing Display’

A neo-Nazi group was seen at Boston’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade, prompting concern from local officials and Jewish community members.

The group of around 20 men were photographed at the South Boston parade with a sign saying “Keep Boston Irish.” They wore green clothing and baseball caps, and concealed their faces with masks and sunglasses.

A Boston Globe report identified them as belonging to the Nationalist Social Club, a neo-Nazi group founded in 2019 in Eastern Massachusetts whose tactics include public demonstrations and disseminating white supremacist propaganda.

Members see themselves as “soldiers at war with a hostile, Jewish-controlled system that is deliberately plotting the extinction of the white race,” according to the Anti-Defamation League, which last year reported that the group was focusing on a six-state area in New England.
