Reader’s Links for February 6, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Another day, another dollar.

I had planned on attending the protest yesterday, but when the GoFundMe theft occurred I was particularly resolved to go. I would hand out money to the truckers–no middle man–direct.

My boy and I found parking about eight or nine blocks away. It was a good sign there would be many people, and there were. Despite the extreme cold my guess is the crowd was substantially larger than last weekend. Friday night they had a dance party, and the dance partner was the cold. The cold. This thing, this epic Canadian political movement is painted on the quintessential Canadian backdrop. I tell my kids to read the story To Build a Fire by Jack London. A man in the Yukon, I think it is–been so many years since I read it–lights a fire to save himself on a trail in the bitterly-cold wilderness. But he builds the fire beneath a pine tree. The heat of the fire goes up into the branches causing the snow on the limbs to come down, extinguishing his fire. I remember how he is peaceful. He drifts off to sleep as he freezes to death.

But not here. The warmth generated by patriotism and kind energy sustain us. There were police everywhere. Inventions of bad behavior by the Ottawa Chief of Police, Mayor Jim Watson, and a constellation of other low lights have outright lied about the character of the crowd to discredit it. We know because we are there. Live Streamers such as Machines Everywhere and Viva Frei are becoming famous by their own particular brands of reporting in real time to what seems to be millions of viewers worldwide. I saw how these blue-collar worker bees with talented hands built a little restaurant and brought in an inflated bouncy castle for kids. Where there is will there is way, and I can see the theft by the powers of the truckers’ money will backfire. I believe it has as I write this, even, with over a million bucks already donated through another medium.

I knocked on the window of the first truck window. When the man opened his door I thrust a bill at him. The reaction was almost always the same. They look at the bill in my hand then look at me. “Thank you so much,” said the 60-year old trucker.  He took the money then thumped his heart with his fist. A woman trucker from Manitoba starter to cry when I gave her money. I have learned that it costs almost one thousand dollars to diesel-up one of these monsters so what I gave is a pittance. I only hope that it shows support and steels resolve.

On our way back to our vehicle we cut through a parking lot. We passed a man with a pick-up containing seven yellow cans of diesel fuel. I offered him a hand to unload them. We put them on a little wagon he’d bought. He and his wife, both in their mid sixties, had come from a town near Toronto. “Trudeau has to go,” he said like a man of few words would say. “It really is a beautiful city you have here,” said his wife.

I thought yes, it can be, but the high-level corruption we all were witnessing was making it very ugly right now. The woman said she liked the interim Conservative leader Candice Bergen. I agreed with her, then said I thought there was a rule that the interim could not become permanent, and said I thought she took the job only to enable Poilievre run for Prime Minister. A few hours later I was proven correct. Even a broken clock gets it right twice a day, I guess.

It is an earthquake that must spread to the United States so we can save the world from the globalists. This is now possible. Remember, Bobby thumbed a diesel down:

  2. “I could be in love”
    https://youtu.be/kxe0LwUfYbo

I found this song very sad for its sense of loss.

What I could hear (any perception can as relative to hot and cold) is a voice of autism.

Not knowing if you are in love or being loved.

It needs a response to this call in the forest, for a composition of the wordless right-brain of the feminine that sees everything beyond the Boxes of Diversity, but this still would not be heard when sung in return. An allegory of the damaged children in State Education from zero aged up, seeking a way to stand on their own two feet after hearing, “you didn’t make that” all their lives and never have looked beyond the mirror on the wall – of being told they are the Fairest of them all.

    Gay is Love.
    Islam is Truth.
    Socialism is Security.

Politicians and preferential in-group hustlers that string them along like pied pipers to their ruin.

Give him a thumbs up. The greatest story never told is to persevere to the discovery. A seed that may one day ignite and the echo-chamber come tumbling down.

That is, if the ‘apple of pride givers’ do not show up from the Unholy Trinity.

  3. Some days ago, I was driving somewhere, when suddenly, needed ‘to go’. I was still far from my destination, but, I really, really, needed to go.

Then I saw a Starbucks: remembering their generous toileting policy in the US, I pulled into their parking lot and came in. There I was greeted by a sign that the toilets were for customers only.

    Fine.

I’m not a big fan of their over-roasted coffee, but, I am firmly behind a shop’s right to limit the use of their facilities to paying customers. So far, so good.

I stood in line and waited to use the facilities – got in and relieved myself. It felt great!

Then, I picked some instant coffee packets off a shelf and lined up to pay – which took about 10 minutes. Long line, slow service: typical for this particular Starbucks.

Eventually, I got to the cash, where I got asked if I was going to sit down to consume my packets of instant coffee, or if I was doing take-out. At first, I did not understand…but then it was explained to me: if I was planning to sit down to consume whatever it was I bought, I would have to show my vaxx pass, or they were not allowed to serve me.

So, using the toilet and standing in line for 10 or so minutes, along with all the other patrons – not a problem, no questions asked.

Sitting down at a ‘socially distanced’ table – must show the vaxx-pass.

    Follow the science!

  4. Five arrested in Turkey for ‘offensive posts’ related to Erdogan’s Covid diagnosis

Five people have been arrested in Turkey for “offensive” posts on social media against Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and his wife Emine, who were infected with Covid-19.

According to CNA, Turkish Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag said: “Those who curse and insult our president are lacking our cultural values ??and minimal human qualities, they are arrogant”.

In this context, 31 of 36 accounts that were considered to have made offensive posts against the Erdogans were identified and the arrest of eight people was requested.

Police arrested five as at least one was abroad.

This person was identified as a former Turkish national swimmer who posted on Twitter, addressing the Erdogans, and saying: “We pray, do not worry. I started making 20 pots of halvas. When the time comes, I will distribute it in the neighbourhood”.

The reference was to the Turkish custom wherein halvas is distributed after a funeral.

Earlier, the Turkish president had announced that he and his wife had contracted the coronavirus and called on the world to pray for them.

In a new post on Twitter, Erdogan said he was passing through the virus with minimal discomfort.

“This morning our doctor did a routine check-up. Thank God there is nothing negative. And today we are recovering from the illness and we continue to work from home,” Erdogan said.

University of Ottawa criminology professor Michael Kempa says police should use the tools they have to prevent transport trucks and tractors from flowing into the city, occupying space and preventing residents from going about their lives.
He likened that type of protest to “extortion” rather than the “expression of ideas.”

    • global news – Ottawa declares state of emergency amid trucker convoy protest

Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson is declaring a state of emergency to give the city more flexibility to deal with ongoing protests that have overwhelmed local resources.

In a brief release, the city says the decision reflects the “serious danger and threat to the safety and security of residents” from protesters encamped through much of the downtown core.

The decision gives the city some additional powers around procurement and how it delivers services. The city’s release noted those powers could help purchase equipment required by frontline workers and first responders.

The release also says the decision underlines the need for support from upper levels of governments.

Earlier Sunday, Ontario Premier Doug Ford said the province has backed Ottawa during the nine-day protest that critics have branded an occupation.

“While we cannot direct the police, we have provided the City of Ottawa everything they have asked for and will continue to provide whatever support they request,” Ford said in a tweet.

A swell of 250 RCMP officers bolstered police presence in the national capital on Sunday. Ottawa police said more than 450 tickets have been issued to demonstrators since Saturday morning for excessive noise, red light violations, driving a vehicle on a sidewalk and setting off fireworks, among others.

Almost 100 criminal investigations were underway, including cross-border investigations into what Ottawa police said were “email-based threats to public officials.”

Police also said on Sunday that anyone trying to bring items like gasoline or supplies to protesters and the 500 vehicles downtown could be arrested.

ctv news – Ottawa mayor declares state of emergency amid ‘Freedom Convoy’ protest

[…]The mayor declared the state of emergency just hours after Ottawa police said new enforcement is underway to cut off the supply of fuel and materials to protesters on Wellington Street and streets near Parliament Hill.

[…]Senior police officials told CTV News Ottawa more enforcement is coming to the downtown core. In a tweet, police said, “Anyone attempting to bring material supports to the demonstrators could be subject to arrest.”

[…]”The situation at this point is completely out of control because the individuals with the protest are calling the shots,” Watson said. “They have far more people than we have police officers and I’ve indicated to the chief that we have to be much more nimble and proactive when it comes to these activities.”

Watson mentioned the wooden structure protesters built at Confederation Park, which has become a “community kitchen.” He said more should have been done to stop that sooner.

“Now, it’s become a rallying point, where there’s so many people there. How do we go in and enforce the laws and the NCC’s property rights?”

[…]On Saturday, an estimated 5,000 people and 1,000 tractor trailers and personal vehicles filled downtown Ottawa to join the protest. Hundreds of people attended a counter-protest at Ottawa City Hall, calling for an end to the demonstration.

“This is a siege. It is a something that is different in our democracy than something I’ve ever experienced in my life,” said Sloly.

CBC – Ottawa declares state of emergency as police boost enforcement, target protest’s fuel supply

Politicians have denounced the ongoing protests, but solution remains unclear

The City of Ottawa declared a state of emergency Sunday afternoon in response to ongoing protests in the downtown core, soon after police announced they would boost enforcement and crack down on the demonstrators’ supply of fuel.

In a statement, the city said the declaration “reflects the serious danger and threat to the safety and security of residents posed by the ongoing demonstrations and highlights the need for support from other jurisdictions and levels of government.”

Earlier in the afternoon, Ottawa police announced they would ramp up enforcement on protesters in the city’s downtown core, handing out tickets and announcing that anyone looking to bring “material aid,” such as fuel, to protesters could be arrested.

“Enforcement is underway,” the Ottawa Police Service tweeted on Sunday afternoon.

The state of emergency and increased police action represent significant changes in the response to the chaotic situation in Ottawa — where demonstrators have become entrenched in the city’s downtown core, setting up structures and securing supplies of food and gas.

Amid increasing resident anger, police said on Saturday that they lack the resources to end the protest, now in its second weekend.

Politicians have also increasingly denounced the protest over COVID-19 public health restrictions, with Ontario Premier Doug Ford and others calling it an “occupation” and the head of the Ottawa Police Services Board referring to it as an “insurrection.”

[…]In a statement, Ontario’s solicitor general, Sylvia Jones, emphasized that politicians cannot direct the police but that discussions were ongoing “to ensure [Ottawa police] have every necessary resource they need to keep their community safe.”

Local, provincial and federal politicians have condemned the protesters’ actions and called for a solution. But what that solution might be remains unclear.

[…]Structures in place in Ottawa’s Confederation Park, including a plywood shack and tents, were removed on Sunday after protesters co-operated with police.

[…]The group is facing a proposed class-action lawsuit spearheaded by Ottawa human rights lawyer Paul Champ, who on Saturday posted a video statement saying truckers could be excluded from the lawsuit if they leave the city by Monday morning.

[…]Along with the disruption caused by blockages and noise, protesters have displayed symbols of hate, including the Confederate flag and swastikas.

Convoy organizers have instead pointed potential donors toward the Christian fundraising site GiveSendGo. As of Sunday morning, organizers had received more than $2.5 million US in donations on that site.

    HEATHER MCDONALD COLLAPSES ON STAGE
    … Hospitalized, Cause Unknown

Comedian Heather McDonald fell hard during a show in Tempe, Arizona, but it was no joke … it was a medical emergency.

Eyewitnesses tell TMZ … the former “Chelsea Lately” star was headlining the sold-out show, when she delivered her second joke … “I’m vaxxed, double vaxxed, boosted … and flu shot and shingle shot and haven’t gotten COVID and Jesus loves me most.”

As soon as she delivered the joke, she just collapsed and hit her head on the floor. Everyone thought at first it was all part of the act, but it was not. She was conscious, but clearly, all was not well. An EMT and a nurse happened to be in the audience … they rushed up on stage to provide first aid.

The 911 call came in as a seizure, but no one really knows yet. An ambulance came and paramedics tended to Heather.

Heather tells TMZ … she felt somewhat dizzy when she was on stage and then just collapsed. She says it’s never happened to her before.

She passed on the ambulance … she says her sister-in-law — who was in the audience — took her to the hospital.

Heather says she got a cat scan as well as other tests, but so far it’s unclear what caused her to faint. She says her head really hurts and she’s very tired.

Ever the trooper, she says she feels horrible about abruptly ending the show.

Heather tells us she never had COVID and, as she said in her set, she’s fully vaxxed and boosted.

    We wish her well.

  13. More Important Ivermectin Study Results

Plus- prescribing drugs “off label’ is important, and the “emergency” is over

    Robert W Malone MD, MS

Strictly regular use of ivermectin as prophylaxis for COVID-19 leads to a 90% reduction in COVID-19 mortality rate, in a dose-response manner: definitive results of a prospective observational study of a strictly controlled 223,128 population from a city-wide program in Southern Brazil

    http://dx(dot)doi(dot)org/10.13140/RG.2.2.20069.68320

This important preprint needs to hit alternative and mainstream media now.

    The Study:

Background: Previously, we demonstrated that ivermectin use as prophylaxis for COVID-19 was associated with reductions in COVID-19 infection, hospitalization, and mortality rates, and in the risk of dying from COVID-19, irrespective of regularity and accumulated use of ivermectin, in an observational, prospectively obtained data from a strictly controlled city-wide program in a city in Southern Brazil (Itajaí, SC, Brazil) of of medically-based, optional use of ivermectin as prophylaxis for COVID-19.

In this study, our objective was to explore the data obtained from the program to evaluate whether the level of regularity of ivermectin use impacted in the reductions in these outcomes, aiming to determine if ivermectin showed a progressive dose-, regularity-response in terms of protection from COVID-19 and COVID-19 related outcomes.

Materials and methods: This is a prospective observational study of the program mention above, that used ivermectin at a dose of 0.2mg/kg/day for two consecutive days, every 15 days. We obtained and analyzed the data regarding the accumulated dose of ivermectin use, in addition to age and co-morbidities, to analyze the patterns of reduction of COVID-19 infection, hospitalization, and mortality rates, and risk of dying from COVID-19, according to the regularity and amount of ivermectin used in a 5-month period.

Following definitions of regularity, we considered as strictly regular subjects that used at least 180mg of ivermectin (180mg = 30 tablets), and as sporadic users subjects that used 60mg (= 10 tablets) or less during the 5-month period.

Comparisons between subjects that did not use ivermectin and these two levels of regularity of ivermectin use were performed. Analysis of the intermediate levels of ivermectin use are present in the supplement appendix of this study. To analyze hospitalization and mortality rates, we utilized the database of COVID-19 infections of all participants, from Itajaí and outside. To analyze COVID-19 infection rate and risk of dying from COVID-19 we utilized the Itajaí city database.

Propensity score matching (PSM) was employed, followed by multivariate adjusted analysis for residual differences (doubly adjusted analysis).

    Results:

Of the 7,345 cases of COVID-19, 3,034 occurred in non-users, 1,627 in sporadic users, and 289 in strict users, while the remaining cases occurred in the intermediate levels of ivermectin use. Strict users were older (p < 0.0001) and non-significant higher prevalence of type 2 diabetes and hypertension.

    COVID-19 infection rate was 39% lower among strict users [4.03% infection rate; ( p < 0.0001] than in non-users (6.64% infection rate), and non-significant 11% reduction compared to sporadic users (4.54% infection rate) (n = 1,627 in each group; RR, 0.89; 95%CI 0.76 – 1.03; p = 0.11).

Hospitalization rate was reduced by 100% in strict users, compared to non-users and to sporadic users, both before and after Propensity score matching ( p < 0.0001).

    After Propensity score matching, hospitalization rate was 35% lower among sporadic users than non-users (RR, 0.65; 95%CI, 0.44 – 0.70; p = 0.03).

In propensity score matched groups, multivariate-adjusted mortality rate was 90% lower in strict users compared to non-users (p = 0.003) and 79% lower than in sporadic users (p = 0.05), while sporadic users had a 37% reduction in mortality rate compared to non-users (p = 0.043).

Risk of dying from COVID-19 was 86% lower among strict users than non-users (p = 0.006) and marginally significant, 72% lower than sporadic users (p = 0.083), while sporadic users had a 51% reduction compared to non-users (p = 0.001).

Conclusion: Non-use of ivermectin was associated with a 10-times increase in mortality risk and 7-times increased risk of dying from COVID-19, compared to strictly regular use of ivermectin in a prospectively collected, strictly controlled population.

A progressive dose-response pattern was observed between level of ivermectin use and level of protection from COVID-19 related outcomes and consistent across different levels of ivermectin use.

The results of this study clearly demonstrate that prophylactic use of ivermectin must be initiated immediately for people in high risk categories in the United States and worldwide. This includes individuals with one or more co-morbidities and the middle aged/elderly. Our “design-to-fail” government funded clinical trials for early treatment and governmental obstructionism regarding life saving treatments to patients must end now.

The CDC chart below for all deaths since the start of the outbreak clearly shows a jump in deaths after 50 years old.

However, as the data for deaths per million per age group is not disclosed, so the age for start of prophylaxis has yet to be determined.

As Omicron has less pathogenicity and slightly different disease profile this too could influence what age prophylaxis treatment should begin. But the data are in, prophylactic use of ivermectin saves lives.

In regards to the table above, the age stratification of disease shows why a universal vaccination program for a vaccine with a high adverse event profile is not advised. It is time to stop all mandates at the Federal and State level. It is time to stop pushing this vaccine on children.

Research and clinical practice show that using re-purposed drugs for Covid-19 have huge benefits. These include multi-drug, multi-staged treatments for Covid-19 disease that prevent severe disease, decreases hospitalization rates and decreases death. It is time our government and state licensing board recognize this and let physicians practice medicine.

The FDA has specifically stated that its procedures and requirements have no effect on the practice of medicine and that the FDA does not prohibit doctors from prescribing drugs in an 'off-label' manner.

The FDA's approval of a drug is immaterial to the effectiveness in the drug's 'off-label' use. In fact, prescribing medication in an 'off-label' manner can constitute the standard of care in many cases.

A doctor's duty is to practice medicine and treat his patient, not inform the patient of the FDA's non-medically related labeling. Therefore, doctors should not be branded with the additional duty of disclosing non-pertinent information, such as the FDA's medically irrelevant distinction, to their patients

*It is estimated that 21% of all prescription drugs are prescribed “off-label.”

For fun, I took the countries that reportedly use Ivermectin country-wide and compared them to the USA, Israel and Sweden. I chose a three month cut-off, although the results were extended further. I did this because I don’t know when some of the countries began ivermectin use.

Can you guess who now has the highest death rates per million? Yeh –

    USA

    Israel

    Sweden

Notes: I included – India, because although not all regions use Ivermectin – although the most populated due. Likewise Africa – which many nations treat with ivermectin prophylactically and these world maps do not break down Africa by Nations (weirdly imperialistic). I did not include Bulgaria, as although they use ivermectin – their death rate numbers are skewed for other reasons not worth delving into.

There are a lot of confounding variables here. Such as natural immunity, vaccination rates of the elderly and those with co-morbidities, as well as seasonality of the virus, vitamin D3/zinc levels and age of population.

But it is still an interesting snap shot as to where much of the world is right now.
