Reader’s Links for February 4, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  5. Vaccinated Canadians who catch COVID-19 can get booster 3 months after positive test: NACI

Tam said that Canada’s National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) is advising that vaccinated Canadians who experienced a COVID-19 infection should wait at least three months to get a booster shot after symptoms start or testing positive, according to NACI.

NACI made the updated recommendation Friday as some provinces and territories begin easing COVID-19 restrictions.

In its updated guidance, NACI suggests that a longer interval between infection and vaccination could result in a better immune response and longer-lasting protection against Omicron and future variants.

  6. DAILY MAIL – ‘I know because I studied philosophy’: Awkward moment anti-vaxxer student tells world-renowned vaccines expert ‘the jab is more dangerous than getting covid’ and credits the wrong man for inventing it – before being torn apart on Question Time

Philosophy graduate appeared on BBC show featuring anti-vaxxers and the unvaccinated

He claimed that the vaccine’s safety record was based on ‘incomplete data’
Accused of speaking ‘nonsense’ when he wrongly credited anti-vax professor with inventing the vaccine

Another woman said she wasn’t anti-vaccine but doesn’t need it to fight Covid

‘I know because I studied philosophy’: Anti-vaxxer student tells vaccines expert he knows ‘the jab is more dangerous than Covid’ because he has a degree, then credits the wrong man for inventing it – before being torn apart on Question Time

The unnamed man said that tens of millions of Britons had been given the jab even thought the country was ‘operating with incomplete data’, shuffling his notes and telling the panel: ‘I have looked at the data myself’.

When asked by host Fiona Bruce about why he didn’t believe the experts he replied: ‘I studied philosophy at university’, claiming this had taught him to question authority.

He then referred to Professor Robert Malone, a former vaccine scientist turned skeptic who went on the Joe Rogan Spotify podcast to slam the Covid-19 jab, claiming he had invented the mRNA vaccines being used to battle coronavirus globally.

Fiona Bruce began pointing her pen at him and said: ‘No I don’t think that is the man who invented the vaccine’.

And Professor Robin Shattock, head of the Mucosal Infection and Immunity at Imperial College London’s Medicine department, then accused him of talking ‘complete nonsense’ and that it had been designed after research by teams at BioNTech and Moderna.

The BBC has been facing criticism after it emerged that Question Time was planning to show an episode which will air the views of vaccine sceptics.

One woman appearing on the show said she felt she didn’t need the vaccine – believing her body was best to beat it – but admitted her friends had advised her not to reveal she was unvaccinated because ‘people are gonna look at you like you smell.’

An anti-vaxxer philosophy student was accused of ‘talking nonsense’ on Question Time last night after arguing with one of the world’s top experts that the vaccine is more dangerous for young people than catching Covid.

The unvaccinated man claimed the jab had ‘horrific side effects’. He then said that ‘for young healthy people… the potential side effects’ of the vaccine are ‘worse than the potential side effects from Covid’.

Professor Shattock said: ‘We have far more safety data on the current vaccines as they have been in the arms of billions of people,’ he said, and encouraged him to check the data on risks and ‘serious adverse events,’ saying they are ‘extremely rare’. He said the data on vaccine safety is ‘indisputable’.

The Daily Telegraph’s Tim Stanley, who was on the panel, said ‘To the gentleman with his degree in philosophy, which is a very good thing to have, by the way, of course it won’t protect you from a virus, whereas degrees in medicine are probably much more useful in that regard.’

The BBC has been facing criticism after it emerged that Question Time was planning to show an episode to air the views of vaccine sceptics. One woman appearing on the show said she felt she didn’t need the vaccine – believing her body was best to beat it – but admitted her friends had advised her not to reveal she was unvaccinated because ‘people are gonna look at you like you smell.’

At one point Victor Adebowale, chair of the NHS Confederation, looked uncomfortable and appeared to panic-drink some water.

When asked by the unvaccinated philosophy graduate what ‘rights individuals have’ to choose whether or not to get the jab because of health concerns, Prof Shattock said there was ‘overwhelming evidence’ the vaccine was safe.

He added later: ‘I think the issue here is that it’s not just about personal choice… You’re not just getting vaccinated to ensure your own health, it’s about ensuring everybody else’s health.’

[…]Asked whether antibody tests should be prioritised higher in the Covid-19 response, Prof Shattock said: ‘The issue is natural immunity is very variable. You can’t in a mass population basis go around and measure everybody’s antibody levels.’

    • Cheap gotcha to an arrogant uni grad, flaunting his mastery of fluffy studies. Guilty of wrongthink. But I can see why he might’ve been mistaken on the specific point.

When Dr. Malone is being introduced before a presentation, his background is often misstated. He’s said to be the inventor of *the vaccine*, not the mRNA technology.
Probably worth flagging instances of that.

the rigth scoop – BREAKING: Judge gives final ruling on FDA release of Pfizer documents

A federal judge has issued his final ruling to the FDA on their release of the Pfizer vaccine document and he’s only giving them six months to get it done.

We told you last week that Pfizer stepped in and was hoping to convince the judge to extend the release of these FDA documents over a longer period of time. But the judge clearly wasn’t swayed, continuing with his previous order that they get it done in only six months.

So between now and September, we should be seeing a lot of redacted documents from the FDA. Yeah I fully expect sheets of paper with nothing but black on them. Hopefully the judge won’t stand for any more shenanigans and we’ll finally get to see what Pfizer is so intent to keep hidden.

  9. Just sent to all public servants in Ontario by the top bureaucrat in the OPS
    ======
    Colleagues,

Over the past week we have witnessed large scale protests occurring in Ottawa. We are aware of the potential for protests in other parts of the province, including southwestern Ontario, at Queen’s Park today and into the weekend.

I am writing to assure you that ensuring the safety of Ontario public servants continues to be our top priority.

Ontario Public Service (OPS) employees should continue to work remotely, except where necessary because the nature of their work requires they be on-site at the workplace. I recognize about half of our OPS staff have been attending the workplace over the course of the pandemic in order to provide critical services to the public that cannot be delivered remotely.

I recognize that this can be a difficult time for many of us and would like to remind you that there are a number of resources available through the Employee and Family Assistance Program to support you and your staff at this time.

Peaceful protests are a cornerstone of a healthy democracy, but hatred, intolerance and criminal behaviour have no place in our society, and must be condemned by all.

  10. zero hedge – Long Funeral Homes, Short Life Insurers? Ex-Blackrock Fund Manager Discovers Disturbing Trends In Mortality

    […]A few key observations:

Mortality worsened in 2021 vs. 2020 despite widespread vaccinations

A spike in Mortality among younger, working-age individuals coincided with vaccine mandates

The spike in younger deaths peaked in Q3 2021 when Covid deaths were extremely low (but rising into the end of September)

[…]Some key questions for the insurance companies:

What are the leading causes of death for 2020 and 2021?
How many of those who died were vaccinated vs. unvaccinated?

Reinsurance Group of America, for example, reported a profit in Q4 2020 when the most of the population was unvaccinated and amid a deadlier strain of Covid-19, yet they registered a loss in Q4 2021 with more than 60% of the country fully vaccinated (and around 75% who have received at least one dose).

Perhaps this is why Pfizer is now actively fighting to suppress research data submitted to the FDA for approval – while the pharmaceutical giant and its peers continue to enjoy legal immunity from vaccine injuries.

GoFundMe takes down Canada’s Freedom Convoy fundraiser.

GoFundMe has deleted Canada’s Freedom Convoy fundraiser for violating its terms, stating the “peaceful demonstration has become an occupation” now.

$9 million funds to be sent to “credible charities.”

    ================================

UPDATE: GoFundMe Statement on the Freedom Convoy 2022 Fundraiser

GoFundMe supports peaceful protests and we believe that was the intention of the Freedom Convoy 2022 fundraiser when it was first created.

We now have evidence from law enforcement that the previously peaceful demonstration has become an occupation, with police reports of violence and other unlawful activity.

To ensure GoFundMe remains a trusted platform, we work with local authorities to ensure we have a detailed, factual understanding of events taking place on the ground.

Following a review of relevant facts and multiple discussions with local law enforcement and city officials, this fundraiser is now in violation of our Terms of Service (Term 8, which prohibits the promotion of violence and harassment) and has been removed from the platform.

Organizers provided a clear distribution plan for the initial $1M that was released earlier this week and confirmed funds would be used only for participants who traveled to Ottawa to participate in a peaceful protest. Given how this situation has evolved, no further funds will be directly distributed to the Freedom Convoy organizers — we will work with organizers to send all remaining funds to credible and established charities verified by GoFundMe.

All donors may submit a request for a full refund until February 19th, 2022 using this dedicated refund form.
