Reader’s Links for January 29, 2022

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

    • JAN 29 2022 – OTTAWA – Islamophobia is unacceptable: Canadian PM Justin Trudeau

OTTAWA: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Saturday said that Islamophobia is not acceptable at any cost and vowed to make his country safer for Muslims.

Taking to Twitter, the Canadian premier wrote: “Islamophobia is unacceptable. Full stop.

We need to put an end to this hate and make our communities safer for Muslim Canadians.

To help with that, we intend to appoint a Special Representative on combatting Islamophobia.”

On Saturday, the Canadian Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion Ahmed Hussen highlighted the federal government’s intention to appoint a special representative on combatting Islamophobia, saying that “this appointment will be part of a renewed Government of Canada Anti-Racism Strategy,” a statement issued by the Government of Canada said.

  1. “40 psychologists co-signed a letter to Parliament’s Public Administration and Constitutional Affairs Committee, warning of amoral adverts that used slogans like: ‘Stay home to save lives’ and ‘if you go out and spread it, people will die’”

“The Nudge Unit was established in the Cabinet Office in 2010 by David Cameron’s government to apply behavioural science to public policy. Now owned partly by the Cabinet Office, by Nesta and by employees, it has operations across the world.

Its chief executive is Dr David Halpern, former director of research at the Institute for Government, who is also the government’s What Works national adviser.”

“It is called ‘nudge’ after the book by Richard Thaler (who went on to win the Nobel prize in economics) and Cass Sunstein which set out how people are not the rational economic actors beloved of conventional economic theory – but can be influenced by “choice architecture” into making better choices in their own interests.”

    Policy-Makers and nudged Stakeholders.

Manipulation is comfortably normal. Truth is a Hate Crime.

  2. If it is only a small number of people protesting, as Dear Leader said, why the need to truck in cops from as far away as Toronto? When was the last time this was done? The last time someone insulted his socks? Never?

Why is it that all mentions of bad behavior and “extremism” are coming from politicians, the woke Ottawa Chief of Police, and paid media shills, while the protesters themselves have a mantra only of peaceful demonstration? If someone wanted to discredit this protest, this is how they would start. It’s really easy when you are the only one holding a megaphone.

Give one of your agents an old, raised Dodge 4×4 pick-up and fly from it a Confederate flag. This will show the sheep the yahoos have arrived. Have your paid MSM interview paid, scripted plants in the crowd. Have these propaganda spokespeople shift the narrative from noble freedom to something racist, or any of the other irrelevant but prepositioned hot buttons that have been so unfairly and spastically tapped all the way from Winnipeg. Message the country that all the economic and social degeneration is the fault of the virus and never mention the government’s pandemic policy response to it. Create decoy narratives very close to earnest stories. These will discredit the genuine by altering their mark.

    Remember, we are kind people.

The ugliness comes from State actors. Put Antifa in the crowd with their bandito hankies covering their faces. We see this and know this. This malevolent machine has already inadvertantly telegraphed its intentions:

    Close the bridges
    Block the roads
    Give the people every woe
Flip a tanker in the way
    Slow it down
    Make them pay.

But it matters little, now, because the energy, hope and inspiration generated by this epic has taken root. The resident politburos on both sides of the 49th parallel are worried. No matter how the police, government, media or dirty tricks services try to ruin this protest, it will backfire. (Don’t forget, there are good men and women inside these services with eyes that can see.) It will fail simply because all trust was boiled off long ago. Suspicion is a virus, too. CBC and CTV cameramen in the crowd may hide their logos, for example, because they have before and they know it well. Even then their big camera rigs give them away. Sarcastically thank them for their “service” to the country and move on.

Even peaceful people made docile and soft by generations of prosperity and good fortune have a limit to their patience. The frequency of the resonance in this body brought to life is just that of a sleeping heart that awoke and began to pump. Now, any unfairness delivered upon it will only alert it to pump harder. Lay this epic gaff at Gerald Butts’ feet. Fun fact: few people know Dear Leader has three hands–the two we see and the hidden one up his you-know-whats.

“Unacceptable opinions” rumble in on rubber tires like a tsunami. Hide in bogus self-isolation, Dear Leader, nothing to see here.

But wouldn’t it be remarkable if he raised the Maple Leaf atop the Peace Tower back up its rusting mast, screwed up his own nervous manhood, and crawled from this champagne and caviar dugout to speak with these poor frozen sods? Speaking not with the smoothie who spoke with Tucker Carlson, but with the people? Imagine the glory, Dear Leader. Tastier than a bag of chips. Such power that you have only ever imagined, and all by your OWN visible, baby-soft hands.

I know. A dreamer am I. The shortest bridge between hero and zero in this country is expressing the wrong opinion. The shortest bridge between two people is humour. So Fringe This, and continue to be inspired.

As an aside, wouldn’t it be great if the church bells rang today? Do they still ring, ever? Do you know why they used to ring at noon? Bring this back today.

    • The only “Fringe Minority” in Canada is Justine Trudeau, Chrystia Freeland, Mark Carney and the many boot lockers in Parliament, the so-called “healthcare officials” and the media, the Soros funded.

    • Create decoy narratives…
To justify the mayhem you’re so eager to incite.
      – – Those snipers: are they Canadian-Canadian?
      – – Poised to take out an aloha snackbar?
      sure.....

    • BBC – Ukraine: PM weighs up bigger troop offer amid Russia border crisis

The UK is considering offering to double its number of troops deployed in Eastern Europe, as ministers weigh up options to increase pressure on Russia amid heightened tensions over Ukraine.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the possible deployment would send a “clear message to the Kremlin”.¨

The defence and foreign secretaries are preparing to meet their counterparts in Moscow to encourage de-escalation.

Mr Johnson will phone Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming days.

The prime minister, who will also visit Eastern Europe this week, said the UK would not tolerate Russian “destabilising activity, and we will always stand with our Nato allies”.

He added: “If President Putin chooses a path of bloodshed and destruction, it will be a tragedy for Europe. Ukraine must be free to choose its own future.

“I have ordered our armed forces to prepare to deploy across Europe next week, ensuring we are able to support our Nato allies on land, at sea and in the air.”

Russia has placed about 100,000 troops, tanks, artillery and missiles near Ukraine’s border, but denies it plans to invade the former Soviet republic, which borders both Russia and the EU.

The has more than 900 military personnel based in Estonia, more than 100 in Ukraine as part of a training mission, while a light cavalry squadron numbering about 150 is deployed to Poland.

The Foreign Office is expected announce tougher sanctions against Russia’s strategic and financial interests in Parliament on Monday.

Meanwhile, UK officials will be sent to Brussels to finalise the details of the latest UK offer as ministers discuss military options.

In addition to bolstering troop numbers, No 10 said this could involve sending defensive weapons to Estonia. Fast jets, warships and military specialists could also be sent to protect the UK’s Nato allies.

Ukraine is not part of Nato and Russia wants the West to promise it will never join the military alliance, seeing it as a direct threat to its security.

Nato’s 30 members include the US, UK, and several former Soviet republics, some of which border Russia. Members agree to come to another’s aid in the event of an armed attack.

Last month, Russia made three demands of Nato: Ukraine should be barred from joining; it should end military activity in eastern Europe; and should not deploy missiles in countries near or bordering Russia.

The UK already has more than 100 troops providing training in Ukraine as part of Operation Orbital.

There are also 900 British military personnel based in Estonia, and a Light Cavalry Squadron of around 150 people is deployed to Poland, No 10 said.

Mr Johnson has also asked defence and security chiefs to consider further defensive military options in Europe during a high-level intelligence briefing on the situation last week.

Chief of the Defence Staff Admiral Sir Tony Radakin will brief Cabinet on the situation on Tuesday.

A second trip for the prime minister to meet Nato member counterparts is also being planned for early next month, No 10 said.
