Reader’s Links for November 28, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Note: OK, a quick timeline, as I understand it.

Project Veritas files a defamation suit against The New York Times.

Project Veritas is given a diary said to be Joe Biden’s daughter’s with allegations of having been molested by her father – by a source that claims it was left behind after she left a residence, and claims that it had been stolen by Biden’s people.

Project Veritas cannot authenticate the diary and therefore declines to publish it. (Others did.)

Project Veritas hands said diary to law enforcement.

Project Veritas’s reporters (current and former) and head (James O’Keefe) private residences are raided by the FBI due to the claims that Project Veritas stole Ashley Biden’s diary.

Materials are seized which are unrelated to the ‘diary’, including lists and contacts info of confidential whistleblowers and Project Verita’s privileged communication with their lawyers on multiple issues.

The New York Times – who is being sued for defamation by Project Veritas – publishes the privileged information between Project Veritas and its lawyers regarding the defamation lawsuit against the New York Times. Not only does The New York Times have full access to their accuser’s protected communication with their lawyer, they are publishing it…

The judge presiding over the defamation case orders The New York Times to stop publishing privileged lawyer-client communication (which there is no lawful way for them to have obtained – and which is widely believed to have been ‘leaked’ to them by the FBI following ‘the diary raid’ and seizure of confidential/protected information) regarding the very case Project Veritas is suing The New York Times over.

New York Times says ‘FU’ to the judge.

    Yeah, good times…

  2. I wonder if Dystopia’s Chief Medical Officer is a CCP operative. I also wonder if Dear Leader is, too. Neither has integrity. Both are cowards.

These are valid questions given what is going on here.

After a brief visit my sister and her daughter returned home to Florida yesterday. They had trouble getting flights because of the weather so are driving. They stopped in Chattanooga last night and sent me a photo of the place they were getting dinner. I asked if they had to be vaccinated or wear masks to enter. “God no,” was her reply. “Not here.”

It was like breathing fresh air, but vicariously. And the juxtaposition of my own mindset with the reality of her photos was jarring. It was like I was looking back in time at the normalcy we used to have here. Regular people in a regular restaurant drinking beer and eating–something I can no longer do.

Because there are no practical car rentals from Dystopia to the States ($2000) for one day, no buses or trains either, a double-vaxxed family member drove them to Rochester NY. On his way back he was not permitted to reenter his own country without a negative C-19 test. This took more than a day, plus expenses. The border guard did tell him, however, that he could enter without any test if he was willing to pay a $6000 fine. $6000 is a rounding error for many people in this Keynesian end game era. What does money have to do with public health? Why $6000? Why not make it $100,000? One million? He did not see the absurdity in this because he is a collectivist. He is an apologist for this tyranny. I am afraid he is the type Bezmenov was refering to when he described the soldier’s boot on his ass would not even wake him to reality. I fear that most Dystopians consider freedom to be nothing but a corny sentiment.

When my sister called ahead to the customs office at her crossing, before leaving for home just to make sure all was good, she asked the American officer if she needed anything special to reenter the U.S.. “Nothing but a smile,” was the answer.

Get it? This is the same difference between passing through from Western Europe into Eastern Europe under communism. You went from colour and lights in Vienna to grey, drab, grimy melancholy in Budapest. Thanks to communist bastards who had no integrity, but loads of cowardess.

    • DEUTSCHE PRAVDA – The latest from around the world on the new COVID variant

Scientists are racing to assess the threat from the new coronavirus variant Omicron.

Cases have surfaced in several countries – including Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy and Australia.

Dutch authorities have also confirmed 13 Omicron infections among airline passengers who arrived from South Africa – which first sounded the alarm.

Governments around the world have imposed restrictions on travel from southern Africa.

Scientists are still unclear how infectious Omicron might be, and whether current vaccines will remain effective.

Once again, it feels like the world is racing to catch up with the pandemic.

The UK banned flights from southern Africa and still found omicron in its midst.

The list of countries affected is growing while the research has just begun.

Germany was already facing its worst wave of infections.

Now omicron has been found in travelers arriving from South Africa, threatening to put even more strain on the healthcare system.

Israel has certainly heard that wake-up call.

With one confirmed case of the variant and several more suspected, it is shutting its borders to all foreign travelers for two weeks and phone surveillance technology will be used to keep track of infected people.

They’re the most drastic measures announced by any nation so far in the wake of this new development.

    • Deutsche Pravda – Omicron travel bans: Do we know it came from South Africa?

Authorities around the world are rushing to contain the new omicron coronavirus variant.

There’s evidence it’s already spreading globally.

Germany has detected two cases in Munich among passengers arriving on a flight from South Africa.

Researchers say it could be the most contagious form of the virus so far, and it might even be resistant to current vaccinations.

Dozens of countries have shut down air travel from South Africa and neighboring nations including Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

It was bad news for at least 60 passengers who tested positive for COVID-19 after flying to Amsterdam from South Africa.

Officials are carrying out further testing to find out if they are infected with the new omicron variant.

The UK has confirmed its first cases and is reintroducing restrictions for travelers until more is known about the strain.

The World Health Organization has called omicron a variant of concern – with scientists still unclear about its potential dangers.

As travelers scramble to leave South Africa, officials there have criticized the world’s reaction to the discovery of the new variant.

The foreign ministry said it was being punished rather than applauded for detecting Omicron.

Australia, Japan and Canada were among a number of other countries which announced travel restrictions – as the world faces another festive season plagued by pandemic woes.

    • UK is ‘panicking unnecessarily’ says doctor who discovered Omicron variant

The doctor who first discovered the Omicron variant in South Africa told The Andrew Marr show the UK is ‘panicking unnecessarily’.

Dr Angelique Coetzee told the programme she first encountered the variant in a patient in his early 30s with constant tiredness and a mild headache but no other coronavirus symptoms.

When asked if the UK was “panicking unnecessarily”, she said: “I think you already have it there in your country and you’re not knowing it, and I would say, yes, at this stage I would say definitely.

The first South African doctor to alert the authorities about patients with the omicron variant has told The Telegraph that the symptoms of the new variant are unusual but mild.

Dr Angelique Coetzee said she was first alerted to the possibility of a new variant when patients in her busy private practice in the capital Pretoria started to come in earlier this month with Covid-19 symptoms that did not make immediate sense.

They included young people of different backgrounds and ethnicities with intense fatigue and a six-year-old child with a very high pulse rate, she said. None suffered from a loss of taste or smell.

    • Iran: Tehran holds official event to celebrate 100 millionth COVID vaccine dose administered

An event was held in the Iran University of Medical Sciences to celebrate 100 million COVID vaccine doses administered in Tehran on Sunday.

“To date, we have been able to inject 85 percent of people with a single dose. In some provinces, 92 and 93 percent of people have received the single dose of the vaccine, which is unique in the world,” said health minister Bahram Einollahi.

According to the latest figures, over 50 percent of Iran’s population of 83 million are fully vaccinated.

      SOUNDBITES:

SOT, Syed Jaffar Hussain, World Health Organization Representative to Tehran (Farsi): “It’s extremely important for the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran to know that by now almost sixty million doses of different kinds of vaccines are in the country and this credit goes to the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the leadership of His Excellency the President, but also His Excellency the Minister of Health and Medical Education to mobilize in the shortest possible time such a big number of vaccines and bringing it to the country.”

SOT, Syed Jaffar Hussain, World Health Organization Representative to Tehran (Farsi): “When I look at the global data and the regional data, Islamic Republic of Iran is among the few countries in the world which reached 1.5 million doses administered by day, which again points toward the commitment but the strength of the health system.”

SOT, Syed Jaffar Hussain, World Health Organization Representative to Tehran (Farsi): “Because we were able to bring only 1.6 million doses from the COVAX Humanitarian Buffer for Afghan refugees.”

SOT, Bahram Einollahi, Iranian Health Minister (Farsi): “To date, we have been able to inject 85% of people with a single dose. In some provinces, 92% and 93% of people have received the single dose of the vaccine, which is unique in the world. And about 70 percent of people received two doses of the vaccine. Around 70% of the people have received two doses. This figure varies from province to province. In some provinces, this figure is up to 78%. And given the time between the first and second doses, we hope that the number of the second doses reaches that of the single doses injected, God willing. And about one million people received the third dose.”

SOT, Bahram Einollahi, Iranian Health Minister (Farsi): “We are one of the developed countries in the world in the production of vaccines, and we produce all types of vaccines in the country. And today we have about 20 million domestically produced, [we have had] about 170 million [vaccines]. Of those 170 million, about 105 million doses of the vaccine have been injected.”

    • paul j watson – Belgian Prime Minister Says New Variant Heralds Arrival of ‘COVID-21’

Claims it’s three times more infectious.

The Prime Minister of Belgium says the new mutant variant of coronavirus is so potentially devastating that it should be called ‘COVID-21’.

      Yes, really.

Alexander De Croo made the comments during a press conference after international markets plummeted in response to the news that the ‘Nu’ variant of the virus had been discovered in Botswana and spread across South Africa.

“You could say that this is Covid-21 instead of Covid-19: it is three times more infectious than the original virus,” said De Croo.

His remarks came in the aftermath of sustained media panic over the new mutation and the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) describing the variant as “the worst one we’ve seen so far.”

It was confirmed that the B.1.1.529 variant had reached Europe after it was detected in someone who had entered Belgium after traveling to Egypt.

Some European countries are already tightening COVID restrictions despite the fact that very little is known about the new strain and it could take weeks to determine if it is a major threat.

However, international alarm over the mutation was questioned by South Africa’s medical chief Dr. Angelique Coetzee, who described the response as a “storm in a teacup.”

According to Coetzee, South Africa has only recorded “very very mild cases” of the variant so far.

    • Dutch Health Official Confirms 13 Omicron Variant Cases in the Country

The 13 omicron Covid-19 cases identified in the Netherlands on Sunday — along with additional ones confirmed in Germany and the U.K. — suggest the new variant already has a strong foothold in Europe.

Vaccine makers are racing to evaluate the new strain to see if new formulations will be required. There are indications the symptoms associated with omicron are mild, top South African health officials said.

Dutch authorities said they found the cases among 61 people who tested positive for Covid on two flights that arrived from southern Africa on Friday.

About 10% of the travelers on the flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg tested positive for Covid-19. Analysis of the remaining samples is continuing, said Dutch Health Minister Hugo de Jonge. The other travelers have dispersed around Europe and the world.

“It is not unlikely more cases will appearin the Netherlands,” de Jonge told a news conference in Rotterdam. “This could possibly be the tip of the iceberg.”

The Dutch cases mark the most widespread incidence of the new strain in Europe found so far, but the variant has been confirmed or is suspected in at least seven other countries.

Germany on Sunday confirmed cases among two people who arrived last week from southern Africa into Munich and one into Frankfurt. More suspected cases are being investigated

Two cases confirmed by the U.K. on Saturday — plus another on Sunday — along with two in Denmark, all involved travelers from southern Africa. Austria, Belgium and the Czech Republic have suspected or confirmed cases. Australia, Hong Kong and Israel have identified cases, too.

In Campania, Italy, a double-vaccinated traveler who’d recently returned from Mozambique was confirmed as having the new variant, according to Italy’s National Health Institute. The man’s family was also positive and is isolating, with tests under way to determine the strain, authorities said.

    • Latvia: “Boost, boost, boost!” – EU”s VdL urges preventive action against Omicron variant

EU Commission president Ursula von der Leyen urged EU member states to take precautionary measures regarding the spread of the new COVID-19 variant ‘Omicron,’ speaking at a press conference with Latvian Prime Minister Krisjsnis Karinis and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, held in Riga on Sunday.

“First and foremost, highest priority is ‘vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate! Boost, boost, boost’ as much as possible because this boosting or vaccination raises the level of antibodies and stimulates the memory cells for COVID viruses. Therefore, it is the ‘police’ of the immune system that you are reinforcing in that time,” said von der Leyen.

She added that using preventive measures, such as getting the vaccine and wearing masks, will help the world ‘buy time’ for scientists and manufacturers ‘to have a full picture about the quality of the mutations of this Omicron variant.’

PM Karinis accused Russia’s Gazprom to drive energy prices up deliberately through not filling up their gas storage sufficiently, adding, “And in the end we see a disinformation campaign coming out of Russia in a very organized and aggressive way. Now we see that this is directed against Poland – Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia are accused of the hybrid situation on the Belarusian border, not Belarus.”

Stoltenberg and von der Leyen were in Vilnius earlier in the day to express support for EU and NATO member states that are currently facing what they say is a ‘hybrid threat’ from Belarus against Poland.

SOT, Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission:“The scientists and manufacturers need 2-3 weeks to have a full picture about the quality of the mutations of this Omicron variant. And therefore we really have to use this time, because there are precautionary actions that we can take. First and foremost highest priority is Vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate!. Boost, boost, boost as much as possible, because this boosting or vaccination raises the level of antibodies and stimulates the memory cells for COVID viruses, therefore it is the police of the immune system that you are reinforcing in that time. The second point is [sic] the very simple measures [such as] masks, hand hygiene and social distancing. Because no matter what the variant is, this is helping against the variant. And we need to buy time.”

SOT, Krisjsnis Karinis, Prime Minister of Latvia (Latvian): “Russia, or Gazprom, owns gas storage facilities in Germany and Austria, and although Gazprom is fulfilling its obligations to commercial partners in Europe, Gazprom has not filled its gas storage facilities sufficiently, thus creating a shortage and driving prices up. Russia, or Gazprom, owns gas storage facilities in Germany and Austria, and although Gazprom is fulfilling its obligations to commercial partners in Europe, Gazprom has not filled its gas storage facilities sufficiently, thus creating a shortage and driving prices up. SOT, Krisjsnis Karinis, Prime Minister of Latvia (Latvian): “The first threat is a hybrid attack faced by Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and therefore the European Union, in the form of an organized illegal movement of migrants across the borders of the European Union. Latvia, Lithuania and Poland are protecting and guarding the external borders of the European Union in a unified manner. We have a very clear and uniform policy in this regard, and this policy naturally receives support from our partners from both the European Union and NATO. The second challenge in our region is the concentration of Russian military forces at the Ukrainian border.”
