Reader’s Links for November 17, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. This podcast is a veritable cornucopia of all the people the corporate media and political types try to censor.

Tim Pool – no intro needed. He is sometimes a bit verbose, but he has the mettle and securest the best guests.

    Guests:

Michael Malice – Soviet escapee and not shy. Brilliant and eloquent.

Alex Jones – yes, THE Alex Jones.

Luke Rudkowski from ;We Are Change’ – ok, he speaks too loudly, but, what he says is really worth listening to. Been a fan of his for about a decade.

Joe Rogan – if you have not heard of him and his honesty regarding successful Covid-19 treatments without the clot shots, well, words fail me as he has been so deeply made a monster of in the mainstream media for simply sharing what worked for him to get over Covid-19…and which has since worked for a lot of folkses.

Blair White – the very conservative Trans-Gender (male to female) who has been made into a monster by the left wing media – while being perfectly accepted by people on ‘the right’, because she does not ask for any special accommodations or treatment based on her identity. She is awesome and fair.

OK – am about to watch this video – but, with this lineup, I am expecting explosive results.

In a day or two. there will be publications of some of the best highlights of this show, so, tune in – but be aware that this happened and I am hoping the video will be awesome.

  2. Hey Richard, it’s been years since we tangled over the reasons for the war in Syria, remember? I said it was all about Uncle Vlad wanting to control Middle East natural gas flows in order to protect his European market. In fact, one can now reason that European fuel is his single most valued asset.

I don’t quite remember what your argument was, now, so you’ll have to remind me. And not to be snooty about it, but it sure looks like you lost our little contest, doesn’t it?

Not only does it appear, in the end, that Uncle Vlad has retained his market with the Syrian cluster#uck but has, in fact, deepened his fuel-based leverage. All this, amazingly, while the West goes insanely anti-fossil fuels in the absence of any viable alternatives. And let’s not kid ourselves, in our growing culture of corrupted science the only chance we have of some genius rising from his garage to save us with a miracle energy source is with “Breakthrough Science.” Hmm, breakthrough science, I like that. –Kinda like breakthrough love in an old marriage, eh?

    Better luck next time, pal.

  4. The town of Oroville, California, has declared itself a “constitutional republic” following over a year of restrictive coronavirus lockdowns and mandates in the state.

The bold move comes after Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom issued an executive order that will extend parts of his March 4, 2020, emergency proclamation powers until March 31, 2022.

According to the East Bay Times, Oroville responded to the extension by declaring that it will not enforce “any executive orders issued by the state of California or by the United States federal government that are overreaching or clearly violate our constitutionally protected rights.”

The resolution was passed with a six to one vote at the city’s Nov. 2 council meeting.

  5. The apparent killing of a pet dog by Chinese pandemic prevention workers has sparked widespread outrage in China. The incident has also launched debate on the lengths Chinese authorities will go to contain Covid-19’s spread.

Video footage captured on a home security camera by someone who said they were the dog’s owner showed one of the two figures in hazmat suits hitting a corgi on the head with a rod. In the video posted on Weibo, the dog runs into another room, outside of the camera’s view. The workers later emerge from the room, one holding an object in a yellow plastic bag.

A hashtag responding to the video, “Don’t treat other people’s pets like animals,” has been viewed 230 million times and was included in posts on the platform 71,000 times by Tuesday.

  6. Greece: Protesters confront police in Athens amid 24-hour restaurants strike over COVID-19 measures

Protesters confronted police in the streets of Athens, on Tuesday, as restaurants, bars and cafes went on strike in protest of newly introduced COVID-19 measures.

Protesters marching in the Greek capital were seen pushing against the shields of a line of police in riot gear.

A 24-hour strike was called by the Panhellenic Federation of Restaurant and Related Professions (POESE), a trade union that represents workers in the service and tourism industries. Protesters gathered at Syntagma Square and marched to the Finance Ministry building.

Under the new rules, introduced on Saturday, visitors of retail stores, banks, hair salons, and outdoor cafes and restaurants must provide a vaccination certificate, proof that they have recovered from COVID-19 or a negative rapid/PCR test result.

Business owners in other cities have also joined the nationwide call for action.

“It is impossible to not take any measures, as people get sick everyday. And it is not our fault that there are so many unvaccinated people. This is the situation,” said Adonis Georgiadis, Minister for Development and Investment, as he spoke during an interview at the sidelines of the protest.

One protester countered, “while they (the government) have not applied any measures to relieve the terrible situation in public hospitals, they want us, restaurant owners, to become the police of our own shops. We will not allow that.”

POESE’s demands encompass a re-introduction of fines, financial support for rising energy and rent expenses for affected business owners, and a decrease of value-added tax (VAT) from 24 to 6 percent.

    • Belarus: EU allocates €700,000 in humanitarian assistance for vulnerable people stranded at the border

Responding immediately to an appeal, the European Commission has allocated €200,000 in humanitarian funding to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

The funding is part of the EU’s overall contribution to the Disaster Relief Emergency Fund, managed by the IFRC. This immediate EU funding will support the IFRC and its national society, the Belarus Red Cross, to deliver much needed relief assistance, including food, hygiene kits, blankets, and first aid kits. The EU has mobilised an additional €500,000 in humanitarian funding and is currently in contact with its humanitarian partner organisations for the implementation of the funds.

Commissioner for Crisis Management, Janez Lenarcic, said: “The EU is supporting its humanitarian partners to help alleviate the suffering of people stranded at the border and in other parts of Belarus. I am calling for continuous access of humanitarian organisations from both sides to reach this large group of refugees and migrants to provide them with urgent assistance.”

The European Commission stands ready to provide additional humanitarian funding in response to clearly established humanitarian needs, should the access for humanitarian partner organisations in Belarus further improve.

All EU humanitarian aid is based on international humanitarian principles. The EU provides needs-based humanitarian assistance to the people hit by manmade and natural disasters with particular attention to the most vulnerable victims. Aid is channelled impartially to the affected populations, regardless of their race, ethnic group, religion, gender, age, nationality or political affiliation. 7. CNN – Ireland, home to one of Europe’s highest vaccination rates, imposes curfew on pubs and clubs as cases rise

(CNN)Ireland will impose a midnight curfew on bars, restaurants and nightclubs from Thursday, its prime minister Micheál Martin has announced, as the country tackles a fresh wave of Covid-19 cases.

Martin said the country’s rise in infections is “a cause of deep concern” as he unveiled a swathe of new measures aimed at “reducing socialization across the board.”

[…]Ireland has one of Europe’s highest vaccination rates, with 89.1% of people over the age of 12 having been immunized, but its booster program has only been available to those over 60, healthcare workers and at-risk people. The government is making plans to offer third doses to those in the 50s and people with underlying health conditions, Martin said.

    SKY NEWS UK

[…]Ireland now has the highest incidence rate in western Europe, and the 12th highest in the world, according to figures from the World Health Organisation.

The 14-day incidence of the disease currently stands at 959 per 100,000 people.

This is despite having one of the most vaccinated populations, with around 93% of all adults fully vaccinated.

Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin has said that modelling showed the current wave should peak in late December, and has urged people to get their booster vaccines “in a timely manner”.

There are concerns among some in government that further restrictions may need to be introduced during the winter period.

    • global news – WHO urges caution over mandatory COVID-19 vaccination measures

Europe has again become the epicentre of the pandemic, prompting some countries to consider re-introducing restrictions in the run-up to Christmas and stirring debate over whether vaccines alone are enough to tame COVID-19.

“This raises real issues around civil liberties… around human rights and it’s something that governments should consider extremely carefully”, Ryan, the head of WHO’s emergencies programme, told a social media event.

Ryan also called on governments to implement those measures only as a last resort and for the shortest possible period of time.

“Mandatory vaccination is not the best means to achieve the highest vaccine uptake,” he added.

WHO technical lead for Covid-19, Maria Van Kerkhove, warned that cases and deaths are increasing for the fourth week in a row globally.

“Out of those 3.3 million cases reported in the last week, more 2.1 million were reported in Europe alone. It’s an 8% increase over the last week,” she said, adding that transmission is higher in countries with low vaccination coverage.

    • sky news australia – Vaccine mandates for volunteer firefighters a ‘dangerous’ move

Bushfire Volunteers executive officer Darren Brown says it is “dangerous” to give volunteers an ultimatum on COVID-19 vaccination.

Volunteer firefighters in Victoria and Western Australia have been given a deadline to get vaccinated, and those who choose not to will be told to cease volunteering.

“Our official policy is that we support vaccination and encourage everybody who can to get vaccination,” Mr Brown told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

“But we also have a very strong caveat that all policy needs to respect and understand that volunteers have a choice.

“Unfortunately for our state (WA) and certainly others in Australia, we rely on emergency services volunteers because there’s simply not enough resources to do it without them.

“Telling volunteers what to do with no escape clause or no wiggle room is simply dangerous because if they stay at home during an emergency, towns will burn, and people may die.”
