Reader’s Links for October 31, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. It appears Uncle Vlad is deadly serious about maintaining decency in Russian society. The ironies are, well, revolutionary.

Former KGB communist Putin is now the defender of Russian culture. This is a man who, as a Soviet, helped export the demoralization Bezmenov talked about. Therefore, while the most successful espionage campaign in history comes to full fruition in the West–that of demoralization–Putin sees the needs to re-raise the Iron Curtain in self defense. That’s how successful the Soviet campaign is proving to be. It has become a demoralizing wild fire, so to speak, threatening even the people from whence it came.

The polarity reversal of East and West seems complete:

    • @Johnnyu – It is very rare that on a conservative site I find a person who understands the work of Putin who is working with China for the subversion of the West. Yes, Putin has been trained from a young age to subvert, to destroy his enemies, that we are. Now, the feminist, LGBT, Antifa, cancel and woke machine is so well installed that it seems no longer possible to stop it.

    • Why isn’t Putin defending freedom of religion, especially that of the Russian Orthodox Church. I have seen reports of orthodox priests being thrown in jail Ala Artur for going against the COVID scam.

The Russian Orthodox Church seems to be the only based religion standing, with the exception of some American preachers. All others have sold out.

  3. GREECE – Adrift freighter carrying migrants towed to Greek island

ATHENS, GREECE — A small cargo ship carrying 382 people, almost all migrants, has been towed to the Greek island of Kos and 375 of the passengers moved to a special migrant facility, Greece’s Ministry of Migration and Asylum announced.

The Turkish-flagged freighter was located off the island of Greece Friday and towed to a “safe anchorage” off Kos, close to the Turkish coast, on Saturday.

Coast guard officials have said the boat’s passengers are mostly male and mostly from Afghanistan. Sunday’s announcement made no mention of the passengers’ ethnicity.

Greece has made a formal request to Turkey to take back the ship, which, according to the coast guard, sailed from the Turkish coast and was headed to Italy.

“We have notified the EU that Turkey is refusing to take their vessel back. … It is time for the EU to act and provide impactful solidarity and ensure the EU/Turkey statement is upheld,” Migration and Asylum Minister Notis Mitarakis said on his Twitter account.

  4. Viganò: the Vatican’s Silence on Biden’s Declarations Creates Disconcertment

    STATEMENT

    of Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò

on the occasion of the visit of Joe Biden to the Vatican

On the occasion of the October 29 visit to the Vatican, the press agencies have spread the news that Joe Biden reported the content of the meeting and said that Francis called him “a good Catholic,” inviting him to “continue to receive Communion.” It is disconcerting that, to date, no clarifying comment has come from the Vatican Press Office.

This leaves us to presume that Joe Biden’s words correspond to the truth and that Bergoglio actually spoke them.

Even if what Biden said corresponds perfectly to the intemperate quips of Jorge Mario Bergoglio – who called a notorious radical abortion activist a “great Italian” – it is evident that such statements represent an unheard of scandal, since they fail to condemn the positions of a political personality who supports abortion, disavow the immutable position of the Magisterium of the Church, and resound as a blatant invitation to commit sacrilege, profaning the Most Holy Eucharist by receiving it in the state of public and manifest sin.

Every Catholic knows that the killing of a defenseless creature in the mother’s womb is a horrendous crime; and that the most serious scandal is given to the faithful not only by Joe Biden as a convinced supporter of abortion, but also by Bergoglio himself, who is recognized as holding the authority of Supreme Pastor of the Church. His work of demolition knows no respite before the astonished silence of the Cardinals and Bishops. The very rare exceptions of Pastors who truly have at heart the souls entrusted to them – the example of His Eminence Cardinal Burke stands out among others – are seen with hostility by the majority of their brother Bishops and by the Vatican, in a disturbing subversion of the mission of the Church of Christ, which today has been reduced to climate change, inclusive capitalism, and mass vaccination.

Bergoglio was recently recognized as “moral guide” by the Council for Inclusive Capitalism led by Lynn Forester de Rothschild, and he appointed Jeffrey David Sachs as a member of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences. Sachs is the president of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network of the United Nations, a supporter of reducing the global population and of the fight against climate change – this has nothing to do with the mission of the Papacy and ought to lead the Prelates of the Church to seriously ask themselves about Bergoglio’s mental and moral suitability for the role he holds.

I exhort the faithful, on the Feast instituted by Pius XI in honor of the social Kingship of Our Lord Jesus Christ, to beseech the Divine Majesty, asking that among the many societies afflicted by the present crisis, the Church of Christ may be the first in which Jesus Christ, who today has been replaced by the idols of globalist ideology, returns to reign.

I’m not even embarrassed. This old mafia pedo is Not. My. Potus.

Wrath used to post regularly from filthy Turk and Twisted-Raghead media. I hated it and complained, but he said it was important, so I watched and read it all.

Now I hold my nose and plow through enemy media linked by Joe Truzman, Seth Franzman, Tony Badran, Heshmat Alavi, and a few others via MEMRI. They share many pieces, so it’s not too much.

I totally abstain from Western Pravda. Enough comes in by osmosis, so I don’t violate The Boycott List.

The Indian videos Richard posts are just plain fun. Wish-fullfilment and glass half-full. Cute boys and girls – an antidote to the poison on enemy media.

  7. With Lebanon in turmoil, threat to Israel as high as ever

Hezbollah has more than 70,000 rockets that have a variety of ranges. It also has tens of thousands of mortar shells. Some of the rockets can strike a target at an accuracy of several meters. All this is a source of great concern for the IDF.

The Israeli military estimates that Hezbollah has about a hundred precision-guided munitions as well as the capability to produce more on an industrial scale. Israeli national security officials are concerned that if Hezbollah’s efforts on this front are successful, the balance of power with Israel would change dramatically….

There is also the threat posed by Hezbollah’s drones, antitank missiles, cruise missiles, and of course, the threat of attack by its elite Radwan Unit, which includes several thousand fighters who cut their teeth in the Syrian Civil War….

[BREAK their teeth! GRIND their bones!]

In this context, Hezbollah is preparing for a surprise attack on Israel, during which if a war were to break out, it would deploy its forces to infiltrate Israeli territory and take over outposts or towns close to the border, thereby disrupting the IDF’s ground maneuver capabilities.

As such, the IDF Northern Command is working to improve infrastructure along the northern border … After many years of warning by the Northern Command of the poor condition of the northern border, the government has finally approved a budget for the construction of a better barrier.

Moreover, Israel has been preparing for a campaign in Lebanon for years…

    • • [Except for the last two years, four elections, culminating in one of the most incompetent coalitions in decades.
    • • Two years consumed by COVID, IDF performing PCR tests on civilians and delivering groceries during lockdowns. Instead of training.]

Nevertheless, despite the IDF’s intense preparations, no one doubts that a campaign in Lebanon would be nothing like the 2006 Lebanon War or even the recent conflict in the Gaza Strip. Hezbollah’s rockets pose a major challenge to the Iron Dome, and should hostilities erupt, the air defense system would have to defend strategic sites at the expense of population centers.

In such a scenario, the only way for the IDF to deal with the threat from the north would be to take swift and aggressive action. To that end, it must immediately bolster the combat worthiness of its ground forces, which are currently, not in their best shape. (TO PUT IT MILDLY)

  8. Seth Frantzman:
Hezbollah-Saudi crisis deepens and could impact Israel – analysis

Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have expelled Lebanon’s ambassadors in recent days. Hezbollah may see an opening and could increase tensions

Thirty years ago, Saudi Arabia was key to the Taif Agreement that ended the Lebanese Civil War. Riyadh is seen as generally supporting the status quo and Sunni politicians in Lebanon, such as Saad Hariri. Hezbollah murdered Hariri’s father, Rafic in 2005.

In recent years, Riyadh has grown tired of backing a Lebanon that continues to be swallowed by Hezbollah. Hezbollah maintains an illegal terrorist army in Lebanon with 150,000 rockets, undermines Lebanon’s foreign policy, conducts its own policies, has its own communications network and in many ways is more powerful than the state.

Israel is conducting a national readiness drill this week. Starting Sunday, Home Front Command and the National Emergency Authority (RAHEL) are holding a weeklong drill that simulates a large-scale war in which civilians may be evacuated from northern border communities in response to rocket barrages from Hezbollah, according to reports.

It is not clear if Hezbollah will exploit regional tensions in this regard. Hezbollah wants closer ties with the Houthis in Yemen, and Iran is exporting the same technology to Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis, such as drones and rockets…..

This means regional tensions are entwined and heating up. Iran used drones to attack a ship in the Gulf of Oman in July. A drone attacked the US garrison at Tanf in late October. Hezbollah has increasingly mentioned Yemen in statements. In January, reports said Iran may have sent drones to Yemen. These had a range that could threaten Israel.

    • There are clan alliances through marriage between Saudis and Sunni Lebanese that go back to Ottoman times.

They’ve thinned out considerably over the last 70 years or so, and the status has flipped. Used to be camel-drivers vs. rug-peddlers; now it’s oily Gulfies throwing spare change at groveling tenth cousins.

  10. New research addresses ongoing concerns regarding risks of allergic reactions after receiving mRNA COVID-19 vaccines, particularly for individuals with a history of severe allergic reactions.

The JAMA Network Open study of employee vaccinations within the Mass General Brigham health care system revealed that although people with such a history reported more allergic symptoms after vaccination, nearly all of them were able to become fully vaccinated.

The findings provide reassurance regarding the safety of mRNA COVID-19 vaccination in individuals regardless of allergy history.

“We hope these data will help inform ongoing conversations with patients who are hesitant to receive COVID-19 vaccination due to allergy concerns,” says senior author author Kimberly G. Blumenthal, MD, MSc, co-director of the Clinical Epidemiology Program within Massachusetts General Hospital’s Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology.

“At our institutions, nearly all individuals with and without a history of high-risk allergy were able to complete the 2-dose vaccine series.”

    • “Clarke stated that he had considered Autonomous Mobile Explorer–5 as a name for the computer, then decided on Socrates when writing early drafts, switching in later drafts to Athena, a computer with a female personality, before settling on HAL 9000.[7]:?78? The Socrates name was later used in Clarke and Stephen Baxter’s A Time Odyssey novel series.”

“HAL’s name, according to writer Arthur C. Clarke, is derived from Heuristically programmed ALgorithmic computer.[7]:?78? After the film was released, fans noticed HAL was a one-letter shift from the name IBM and there has been much speculation since then that this was a dig at the large computer company,[24] something that has been denied by both Clarke and 2001 director Stanley Kubrick.[2] ”

“Clarke addressed the issue in his book The Lost Worlds of 2001:

…about once a week some character spots the fact that HAL is one letter ahead of IBM, and promptly assumes that Stanley and I were taking a crack at the estimable institution … As it happened, IBM had given us a good deal of help, so we were quite embarrassed by this, and would have changed the name had we spotted the coincidence.[7]:?78”

  12. I often asked myself the question, “What are good people?” After many years of research I realized, 1. they are people who give space to your potential and creativity, and 2. they are people who intend to make you feel good.

So we have to ask ourselves each time, “How does this person want me to feel? Does he intend to publish a book about the coming end of the world and need idiots to buy his book? Does someone want to cause my envy by bragging about his luxuries?”

“Isn’t your definition a bit naive? Hitler, too, served people’s desires, and then sent them to their deaths!” This is exactly the point where Hitler did not attach any importance to individual fates, but many voluntarily laid their judgment at his feet.
