Reader’s Links for September 3, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. “He was known to our national security agencies, was of concern and was being monitored constantly. There are very few people that fall into this category,’ Ms Ardern said.

She reiterated that if the offender had commit a crime in the past that would have allowed authorities to put him in prison, ‘that’s where he would have been’.

‘The reason he was in the community is because within the law we could not put him anywhere else. His past behaviour was, within the threshold of the law, not enough to put him in prison.”

‘Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern revealed on Friday the 32-year-old Sri Lankan national was considered one of the nation’s most dangerous extremists and was watched 24/7 since 2016. He arrived in New Zealand in 2011.’

Friedrichshain cult shoemaker in wheelchair after Corona vaccination

With his love for his craft and a lot of heart, John O’Hara (59) became the cult shoemaker of Friedrichshain. Customers from all over Berlin came to his store on Lebuser Straße. But for two months now, the blinds have been lowered there: “Closed due to illness.”

What is not written on the notice in the window: O’Hara had himself vaccinated with AstraZeneca – and is now in a wheelchair.

B.Z. visited him in a rehab clinic near Berlin. His legs are paralyzed, he can neither stand nor walk. The fine motor skills of his hands do not work. Even opening a yogurt pot is no longer possible. In addition, there is constant pain in his back.

All O’Hara wanted to do was follow the recommendation of the federal government and get immunized against Corona at an early stage. With a heart attack as a pre-existing condition, he belonged to priority group 3.

His cardiologist felt there was nothing wrong with the AstraZeneca vaccine. O’Hara had to make the final decision as a layman – like hundreds of thousands of others. On June 7, he had himself vaccinated with the drug. Just twelve days later, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his lumbar spine. An odyssey began: General practitioners, emergency rooms, specialists – no findings.

“The pain was like torture,” says the shoemaker. The numbness moved from his legs to his hands. It wasn’t until a week later that doctors at Park-Klinik Weißensee diagnosed Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS).

It progresses rapidly, the immune system destroys the sheathing of the nerve cells. The experts stopped the process with therapies. And: They reported the suspicion of a vaccination complication to the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI), which is responsible in Germany.

An accumulation of GBS cases after AstraZeneca vaccinations were already known to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) at the beginning of May. The PEI also counted 37 confirmed cases by the end of July! In August, a warning was therefore included in the information sheet.

“My case could have been avoided,” says John O’Hara. “If physicians had been made aware of GBS as a rare consequence in a more timely manner, they would have recognized my symptomatology more quickly.”

A spokeswoman for AstraZeneca rebuffed a B.Z. inquiry: There is currently no evidence of a connection between GBS and the vaccine.

Whether John O’Hara will ever be able to open his shoemaker’s workshop again, whether the paralysis will regress, the doctors do not yet know. ?He says: “Politics and the pharmaceutical company would have to take responsibility for the victims!”

According to a spokeswoman, the first report of a Guillain-Barré syndrome in connection with an AstraZeneca vaccination was received by the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI) as early as February 19, 2021! This was initially an isolated case.

By July 31, there were then a total of 84 suspicious reports. In 37 cases, the PEI was actually able to determine, according to the criteria of the World Health Organization, that the vaccination was causative for the outbreak of the neurological disease. Purely statistically, according to PEI, 8.48 cases would have been expected within 14 days after vaccination – but 43 cases were reported!

The European Medicines Agency’s Committee for Risk Assessment recommended in July 2021 that a warning be included in the product information of Covid 19 vaccines from Janssen and AstraZeneca.

(Caption: “O’Hara loved his job. He repaired 15 pairs of shoes in a day.” “He wanted to do everything right, now he is paralyzed from the belly button down”).

Biden and Afghanistan: The unbearable lightness of scapegoating

Recent disclosures about President Biden and his White House have observers concluding that Biden is being set up as a scapegoat for the disorderly flight of the United States from Afghanistan, which left at a minimum hundreds of Americans behind. (According to his administration’s own original numbers – some 10,000 to 15,000 Americans who would need evacuation – the number may be in the thousands. The American retreat is attended by other unfavorable numbers, for which there is no lack of sources online.)

The disclosures include a 23 July phone call between Biden and former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, in which Ghani said the Taliban advance throughout Afghanistan was in the nature of an invasion, and was moving very rapidly. The date, 23 July, was 23 days before the fall of Kabul. I’ve pointed out a number of times now that we didn’t need to ask Ghani, nor did it require classified national intelligence, to recognize the rapid advance of the Taliban and the collapse of the Afghan National Army in many of the provinces. Open-source analysis had made it very clear since at least mid-May 2021

    • New Zealand authorities were so worried about a Muslim extremist they were following him around-the-clock and were able to shoot and kill him within 60 seconds of him unleashing a frenzied knife attack that wounded six people Friday at an Auckland supermarket.

Three of the shoppers were taken to Auckland hospitals in critical condition, police said. Another was in serious condition, while two more were in moderate condition.

[…]Witnesses said the man shouted “Allahu Akbar” — meaning God is great — and started stabbing random shoppers, sending people running and screaming.

Coster said that when the commotion started, two police from the special tactics group rushed over. He said the man charged at the officers with the knife and so they shot and killed him.

One bystander video taken from inside the supermarket records the sound of 10 shots being fired in rapid succession.

[…]Ardern said the attack was violent and senseless, and she was sorry it had happened.

“What happened today was despicable. It was hateful. It was wrong,” Ardern said. “It was carried out by an individual. Not a faith, not a culture, not an ethnicity. But an individual person who is gripped by ideology that is not supported here by anyone or any community.”

Ardern said the man had first moved to New Zealand in 2011 and had been monitored by security agencies since 2016. She said authorities are confident he acted alone in the attack.

[…]Extremist ideology is rare in New Zealand and Ardern said that only a tiny number of people would be subject to such intense surveillance.

  5. Biden’s Actions Arm Taliban With Assault Rifles But Tells Americans He’s Going to Take Their AR-15s

    • I should have posted this video just below the JE Dyer article, while I don’t expect a coup over what has happened if there are many more disasters caused by the Biden administration one may, I repeat may occur. As Atul points out the frustration among the war fighting military is growing, we have the top ranks filled with officers (political apparatchiks for the left) who are more concerned with pushing the far left WOKE AGENDA then they are in defending the US and protecting US citizens.

The frustration can be seen in the soldiers disobeying orders and damaging the helicopters that were left for the Taliban. I am sure that there were more examples of the Troops (here I am including officers as well as enlisted) doing their best to prevent the sensitive equipment from falling into enemy hands. The orders to give working sensitive equipment to the enemy is clearly and illegal order but there wasn’t enough time to plan and implement any organized resistance to this order. What is telling is that while there was resistance to the order and equipment was damaged no officer resigned in protest. This means that either the Senior Officers didn’t have courage enough to resign to protest the orders or that the Senior Officers decided that they could do more for the country by staying on active duty and quietly organizing to resist the Biden Administrations efforts to damage and/or destroy the US.

We will have to wait and see which explanation is correct.

Impeach the president, court martial the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Only one man lost his job over Afghanistan. Lt. Col. Stuart Scheller challenged Biden’s incompetent and spineless Joint Chiefs of Staff to take responsibility for their dereliction of duty that led directly to the catastrophe in Afghanistan. Taking responsibility meant resigning. Biden’s military men immediately smeared him as mentally ill and forced him out of the Marines.

Biden is directly responsible for the worst, most humiliating, most dangerous – yet completely avoidable – defeat in the history of American warfare. He has betrayed the country that elected him and that he is sworn to serve. Yet Biden has shown no remorse and taken no responsibility for the damage he has done. Instead, he has brazenly lied and called his own actions a “success.” As for his allies, he has blamed the Afghan military, the Afghan president and, of course, his adversary Donald Trump for the mess he single-handedly created. Hundreds are already dead and legions of unknown and uncountable others await death from terrorists whom Biden has freed, empowered and armed.

Scuffles broke out, as police reportedly tried to stop protesters from throwing stones at a large doll called ‘Amal’.

The 3.5-metre tall puppet represents a nine-year-old Syrian girl and is on a journey from Turkey to the UK as part of a theatre piece called ‘The Walk’.

The project intends to raise awareness of the plight of refugees, especially unaccompanied minors.

Following the route taken by numerous refugees, ‘Little Amal’ is expected to travel across eight countries, covering around 8,000km.

However some in Greece objected to the puppet and her handlers visiting.

The local council of Meteora voted to ban the doll from travelling through an Orthodox village that is a World Heritage site.

Next ‘Little Amal’ will go to Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and finally the UK, finishing her journey in Manchester on November 3.

The Forever War is Islam’s War on the West – Frontpagemag

    5-6 minutes

Imagine after Pearl Harbor, FDR announcing, “We’re getting into this to bring human rights to Japanese women” or “Our goal in this war is give Germany a democracy.” He would have been laughed out of office.

There was only one legitimate reason to go into Afghanistan after 9/11 and it’s the same reason that should have impelled us to stay – not human rights, democracy or nation-building – but saving our nation.

We went to Afghanistan to root out terrorism, to destroy Al Qaeda’s infrastructure, to disrupt its network – and, quite frankly, to kill as many terrorists as possible.

The goal was to kill them there so they wouldn’t kill us here, as they did on 9/11. Everything else was extraneous. That the mission failed may be seen in just how quickly the Taliban made a comeback, except now, with the most modern weapons in the region – thanks to Quartermaster Joe.

  14. Supreme Court’s Ruling in Favor of Texas Abortion Law Prompts Senate Judiciary Committee to Examine ‘Shadow Docket’
    By Masooma Haq

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, announced Friday that the panel will hold a hearing to investigate if the Supreme Court is abusing its authority when it hands down a decision without full court procedures, a process dubbed “shadow-docket.”

“This anti-choice law is a devastating blow to Americans’ constitutional rights—and the Court allowed it to see the light of day without public deliberation or transparency,” said Durbin in a press statement after the ruling. “At a time when public confidence in government institutions has greatly eroded, we must examine not just the constitutional impact of allowing the Texas law to take effect, but also the conservative Court’s abuse of the shadow docket.”

Out of about the 70 cases the high court considers, most of them have clear deadlines, public oral arguments, and published opinions, while some of them are emergency appeals that do not have clear and transparent procedures.

The Supreme Court rules allow for emergency requests by litigants that believe their cases have been wrongly decided by a lower court. The decisions in these cases are meant to be temporary while an appeal is made.

Durbin said the High Court needs to earn public trust and the recent ruling in the Texas abortion ban case, using the emergency abridged procedure, would erode that trust.

In addition, Durbin said Democrats will examine the shadow docket being used for overturning the Biden administration’s eviction moratorium and reinstating the “Remain in Mexico” policy that was ended by Biden when he took office in January.

In her dissenting opinion, liberal Associate Justice Elena Kagan wrote that the emergency ruling “illustrates just how far the Court’s ‘shadow docket decisions may depart from the usual principles of appellate process… In all these ways, the majority’s decision is emblematic of too much of this Court’s shadow docket decision-making—which every day becomes more un-reasoned, inconsistent, and impossible to defend.”

The Supreme Court, in a 5-4 ruling on Wednesday, denied a bid to stop Texas from banning abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected, allowing the abortion ban to remain in effect while abortion rights groups continue to challenge the restriction.

  15. China will be the Taliban’s “main partner” and help rebuild Afghanistan, according to a spokesman for the group.

“China will be our main partner and represents a great opportunity for us because it is ready to invest in our country and support reconstruction efforts,” Zabihullah Mujahid said in an interview published by Italian newspaper La Repubblica on Wednesday.

He said the Taliban value China’s Belt and Road Initiative as the project will revive the ancient Silk Road.

He said China will also help Afghanistan fully utilize its rich copper resources and give the country a path into global markets.

The Taliban also view Russia as an important partner in the region and will maintain good relations with Moscow, he added.

Speaking about the Kabul airport, Mujahid said the facility is fully under Taliban control but has been seriously damaged.

Qatar and Turkey are leading efforts to resume operations at the airport, he told the Italian publication.

“The airport should be clean within the next three days and will be rebuilt in a short time. I hope it will be operational again in September,” he said.

On relations with Italy, Mujahid said the Taliban hope Italy will recognize their government and reopen its embassy in Kabul.

  16. 2019 CDC Memo on Ivermectin Blows a Hole in Media’s Narrative That It’s Just a Horse Treatment
    5-6 minutes

The anti-parasitic drug Ivermectin got a big boost in its reputability for treating Covid-19 when popular podcaster Joe Rogan testified to its effectiveness in his case. The news media went absolutely ballistic over the news and blasted the drug as merely a ‘horse dewormer’ and ‘not fit to be ingested by humans.’

“We immediately threw the kitchen sink at it. All kinds of meds,” Rogan said after his Covid diagnosis. “Monoclonal antibodies, ivermectin, Z-pak, prednisone, everything. And I also got an anti-D drip and a vitamin drip.”

People immediately seized on the anecdotal case to justify the use of the alleged therapeutic to treat Covid-19. The FDA, meanwhile, cautions people that they should not use the Ivermectin treatment that is intended for animals.

“People are purchasing various highly concentrated animal ivermectin drug formulations such as ‘pour-on,’ injectable, paste and ‘drench’ that are intended for horses, cattle and sheep, and taking these drugs has made some people very sick,” the FDA wrote in a letter to veterinarians. “Even if animal drugs have the same active ingredient as an approved human drug, animal drugs have not been evaluated for safety or effectiveness in humans.”

“We Are F*cking Abandoning American Citizens” – Angry Army Colonel Wrote in Frantic Leaked Texts of Biden’s Afghanistan Withdrawal

Joe Biden on Tuesday said his botched withdrawal which resulted in the deaths of 13 US service members and hundreds, if not thousands of stranded Americans was an “extraordinary success.”

However, text messages between US military commanders and private citizens paint a different picture.

“We are fucking abandoning American citizens,” said an Army colonel assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division in secret text messages leaked to Just the News:

President Biden declared to a puzzled country on Tuesday that the U.S. evacuation from Afghanistan was an “extraordinary success,” while his Pentagon portrayed a prosaic, workaday process to repatriate Americans still stranded in the war-torn country.

But text messages between U.S. military commanders and private citizens mounting last-minute rescues tell a far different story, one in which pleading American citizens were frantically left behind at the Kabul airport gate this past weekend to face an uncertain fate under Taliban rule while U.S. officials sought to spread the blame between high-ranking generals and the State Department

“We are f*cking abandoning American citizens,” an Army colonel assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division wrote Sunday in frustration in a series of encrypted messages that detailed the failed effort to extricate a group of American citizens, hours before the last U.S. soldiers departed Afghanistan.
