Reader’s Links for August 27, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. “Now we have the deadliest insult of all. ‘Anti-vaxxer.’ Two relatively short words, but if you dare to touch them, they explode into maelstrom of poison that spreads far and wide, destroying anyone and everyone in range. Today, to mix my metaphors, there is probably no deeper abyss to be dropped into, than the abyss of being labelled an ‘anti-vaxxer.’

Of course, the term has no definition. It doesn’t even have any discernible boundaries. You can be wandering about quite innocently and suddenly find you have become an ‘anti-vaxxer.’ I mentioned that the phase III clinical trials on AstraZeneca’s COVID19 vaccine will not be completed until 2023”

“Here is the view of one doctor, from the BMJ”

“‘….criminalising people who intentionally hurt others through false information should also be considered. The freedom to debate, and to allow the public to raise legitimate vaccine concerns to fill the knowledge void, should not extend to causing malicious harm…’”

“And who, exactly, is to decide what constitutes malicious harm?”

    Take statins…

“Do people who take statin drugs need to worry about low brain cholesterol?”
Yes. “Statins” are drugs designed to lower your level of LDL cholesterol—the so-called “bad cholesterol.”

“Unfortunately, statins do cross the blood-brain barrier and enter brain cells, where they reduce the brain’s natural ability to make the beautiful cholesterol molecules the brain needs to do its important work.”

Unfortunately, not all the results for mRNA vaccines are in. Fortunately, the debate continues among civilized people whilst the fire rages.

Biden admin gives Taliban a ‘kill list’; media get leak on special forces ops to rescue Americans

Explosion at Kabul airport 26 Aug 2021, claimed by ISIS-Khorasan (ISIS-K) as a terror attack. Guardian video, YouTube

Thirteen American troops, twelve Marines and a Navy corpsman, have been killed in the explosions at Kabul airport on Thursday as the U.S. “rescue” operation spirals downward.

It is neither temperate nor judicious to look for excuses for the behavior of the Biden administration. It does little good either to fulminate.

But lagging advice on how to stop the bleeding is uninteresting at this point. President Biden made that clear with his very late appearance for a press conference Thursday evening. He is obviously not in a condition of sufficient mental competence now to change the course of this cataclysmic failure to enforce American interests.

This post will not be a synoptic summary. It will focus, for want of time, on two major errors committed by the administration in the last couple of days.

The Friday prayers at a mosque in British Columbia, South African / Canadian Imam to the youth Younus Kathrada, delivered a sermon on “War with Islam” calling for support of the Mujahideen in Afghanistan.

He said he is “inciting” his congregants to show support for their “brothers” who want to establish Shari’ah in Afghanistan. “I incite you to show support for your brothers in Afghanistan, who want to establish Shari’a in their land.”

How did Canada end up with men like Kathrada, a man who hates Canada, who speaks of Jihad and installing Shari’ah law?

In 2015, Justine Trudeau, a candidate for Prime Minister commented on Bill C-24, a bill which would remove Canadian citizenship from DUAL citizens if they took up arms against Canada, or were convicted of terrorism or treason Trudeau said:

“The Liberal Party believes that terrorists should get to keep their Canadian citizenship…because I do. and I am willing to take on anyone who disagrees with that. A soon as you make make citizenship for some Canadians conditional on good behaviour, you devalue citizenship to everyone.

Under Justine Trudeau, John McCallum introduced Bill C-6, which allowed convicted dual citizen terrorist to maintain their Canadian citizenship. McCallum said “”A Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian.

    • global pravda – “I’ve never seen this intensity of anger,” Trudeau says after rally cancelled due to safety

      ( 9 min 06 )

Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau commented on Friday just a short time after a rally in Bolton, Ont. was cancelled due to safety concerns, saying he had “never seen this intensity of anger” on the campaign trail and spoke about how, from his perspective, the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in an increase in anxiety, anger, frustration and powerlessness for people who feel the world is unfolding “in ways they can’t control.”

He said while the event had to be cancelled, he would continue to speak with Canadians and said this election was a chance to choose what kind of future the country wants to see and he wants to hear the concerns people have, adding he’s “ready for hope” and to do “big things.”

Asked if he had potentially inflammed some of the rhetoric in the campaign, Trudeau said they need to “reflect in our role as citizens in a democracy, as leaders in how we choose to bring Canadians together.”

    • global pravda – Trudeau pledges funding in push for provinces to adopt COVID-19 vaccine passports

Manitoba and B.C. are the latest provinces to implement vaccine passports, which would see people having to show proof of full vaccination in order to access various non-essential services like going to a sporting event or dining at a restaurant.

But so far, there are only three provinces utilizing such a program and while some may be under discussion in other regions, others are showing staunch opposition. In an effort to push for more adoption of such a system, Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau pledged $1 billion for provinces to help develop and implement passports.

The system does appear to be a nudge for more people to get vaccinated, with bookings for a vaccine appointment in B.C. rising by 124 per cent. But as Jamie Mauracher reports, not everyone is open the idea.

  13. Turkey: No decision yet on Taliban request for Turkey to operate Kabul airport – Erdogan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said further discussions are needed before deciding on a Taliban request for Turkey to protect and operate Kabul airport. Erdogan was speaking at a press conference at Ataturk Airport in Istanbul on Friday.

“The first of our meetings was held there with the first meeting about the Taliban, a meeting that lasted 3.5 hours, under the supervision of our embassy. In the process after that, we will have the opportunity to have such discussions here again if necessary,” Erdogan said. “With such negotiations, we strive to carry out the process in a healthy way. What are their expectations, what is our expectation, you will do all this by discussing.”

In a statement on Friday, Erdogan condemned the attack at Kabul airport which killed over 90 people including 13 US servicemen on Thursday.

SOT, Journalist asking question (Turkish): “Is there still contact with the Taliban? What will Turkey’s roadmap on Afghanistan be next? There is speculation that Turkish companies will also step in regarding the operation of the airport, and finally; There is a reaction in the Turkish public about the talks with the Taliban, not to be discussed, what would you say about this?” *LOOSE TRANSLATION AT SOURCE*

SOT, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey (Turkish): “Dear friends, of course, I don’t know who’s criticising how and in what way. Everyone has the right to criticise, anyone can make any criticism they want. And we can’t afford to ask anyone’s permission to negotiate with whom, where, when, or what kind of negotiations. The first of our meetings was held there with the first meeting about the Taliban, a meeting that lasted 3.5 hours, under the supervision of our embassy. In the process after that, we will have the opportunity to have such discussions here again if necessary. With such negotiations, we strive to carry out the process in a healthy way. What are their expectations, what is our expectation, you will do all this by discussing it. It’s impossible to do these things without a meeting. In this respect, if you say diplomacy, of course you have to tell these people, what is diplomacy, friend? That’s diplomacy. Who’s going to do this in the first place? Foreign Affairs conducts, foreign affairs representatives conduct, politicians conduct. That’s what we do. Of course, right now, our friends are determined to do so.” *MULTIPLE SHOTS AT SOURCE*

SOT, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of Turkey (Turkish): “What was the question that just came in? Are you going to talk to the Taliban? I’ll see you if I have to. But right now, once the Taliban, they have proposals to operate Kabul airport. Who? Us. He says we’ll provide security, you build the business. We don’t even have a decision on that yet. Because there’s any kind of death and so on. Seventy-two people died in yesterday’s incident, and if our name is mentioned, there’s the Republic of Turliye, or it operates the military air field there, it operates the civilian airport, but seventy-two people are killed, and if we get involved, we can’t explain it.” *LOOSE TRANSLATION AT SOURCE*
