Reader’s Links for August 20, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

Voting Machine Investigation Launches In Colorado – FBI Joins Probe Into Elections Equipment Password Breach

The debate surrounding election integrity continues to rage throughout the country. It will undoubtedly be a major point of contention when the 2022 midterm elections roll around, too.

There’s also plenty of controversy concerning the reliability of voting machines, and the election officials who run them. Security is a serious concern for both campaigners and voters.

That’s why one county in Colorado will be conducting a criminal investigation into a security breach. And the FBI is involved now as well.

This story involves voting machines and passwords leaked online: on August 9, Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold announced she’d begin her own investigation into the matter.

What I’ve been trying to tell you for twenty years.

As the Taliban moved into Kabul and demanded the unconditional surrender of the central government, Taliban commander Muhammed Arif Mustafa told CNN: “It’s our belief that one day, mujahedin will have victory, and Islamic law will come not to just Afghanistan, but all over the world. We are not in a hurry. We believe it will come one day. Jihad will not end until the last day.”

The CNN “journalist,” demonstrating yet again the network’s spectacular misunderstanding of the conflict (which, of course, is shared by the U.S. foreign policy establishment), followed that with “It’s a chilling admission from a group that claims it wants peace.”

The Taliban does indeed want peace. It wants the peace that will follow the world’s submission to the hegemony of Islamic law.

Muhammed Arif Mustafa was stating plainly what the U.S. State Department steadfastly ignored for twenty years: the fact that the Taliban views itself as the exponents in 21st-century Afghanistan of a fourteen-hundred-year-old conflict, one that is as old as Islam itself. The History of Jihad details how Muslims in Afghanistan and the world over have waged this jihad without any interruption throughout that entire period, with the goal that the Taliban commander enunciated: to establish the rule of Islamic law anywhere and everywhere possible.

The nascent resistance to the Taliban that has organized in Panjshir province has launched a counteroffensive against the Taliban and has taken control of four districts in two neighboring provinces.

The Panjshir resistance force, which is flying the flag of the anti-Taliban Northern Alliance, took control of Dih Saleh, Andarab, and Puli Hisar districts in eastern Baghlan province, as well as Charikar in Parwan. The resistance is led by former Vice President and National Directorate of Security chief Amrullah Saleh [See FDD’s Long War Journal report, After fall of Kabul, resistance to Taliban emerges in Panjshir].

Noor Wali Mehsud, the emir of the TTP, as seen in a recent video produced by the group’s Umar Media.

Noor Wali Mehsud, the emir of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP, or the Pakistani Taliban), has renewed his oath of allegiance to the Taliban’s Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Mehsud also celebrates the Taliban’s “historic and blessed victory” in a one-page statement released on the TTP’s social media and website.

Mehsud describes the Taliban’s defeat of the U.S.-backed Afghan government as a “victory” for the “entire Muslim ummah” (or worldwide community of Muslims), adding that “the future of the entire Islamic ummah depends on it.” He “renews” the TTP’s “allegiance to the Islamic Emirate” of Afghanistan, pledging his men “will not spare any sacrifice for the stability and development” of the restored emirate.
