Reader’s Links for August 12, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. The sky may not be falling, but it feels a little low. This August 15, will be the 50th anniversary of President Nixon closing the gold window. Regardless of what one may think of gold, no one can ignore the dramatic purchasing power loss by the dollar from then to now. Maybe the start of this slide in Americans’ standard of living only coincides with those events of 1971, but I doubt it:

  2. Vlad, I am wondering if it would be possible for you to isolate a few select videos on your site for easy reference. My daughter wanted me to send her yesterday’s Dr. Zelenko bitch-slappin’ smack-down, but this gave me a little technical trouble. Another one that comes to mind is the activist lawyer you posted a couple of weeks ago in (Ohio?) letting us know what true informed consent should sound like.

Maybe not more than the best half dozen at a time? Having thoughtful legal and scientific testimony at our fingertips may help people defend themselves as the vaxx mandates close in. Just a thought.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

For the Hindu: ‘In the beginning was the Flame, and the Flame was with God, and the Flame was God.’
“Hindus believe that, through flame, they can obtain purity of heart and mind.”
    https://planningahinduwedding.com/2020/08/07/the-significance-of-fire-in-hindu-weddings/

The truth sets you free. To hide this in plain sight, a seller of books and idols, would say ‘but only if you believe in these books and their Persons who are better than you, then you are saved.’ Despising themselves, they eagerly took on the new robes.

    ‘Allah and His Last Prophet!’
‘Born Again only if you Believe Jesus is God!’

Words and Images (even vows of non-words and images), have no power. Unless you allow them to.

And then you’ll make them your tools of power over other people. The gullible will see you are from God.

And those who first created these ‘Holy’ words and images, will laugh as the finest meals are sent to their temples.

    • In the beginning was the spirit, and the spirit was with G_d, and the spirit was G_d.

It was hidden in plain sight all along.

      • I don’t read the New Testament in the original language. The KJV version is the best, most powerful translation, but exegesis from translation is just a riff on the text. Isolated verses are almost always fortune cookie truisms. Cliches, could be Hindu or tardish.

But there’s more here: I’m into magical thinking; you’re not.

You don’t believe that curses or prayers have power. That we just imagine they do, that we can be disabused of such simple superstitions, and somehow be more integrated, effectual individuals.

I’m coming from a very different place. Where words and phrases and music resonate within me. Archaic Hebrew connects me in the here and now, to the great chain of being that is eternal.

        Nourishing magic, if you like.

        • “But there’s more here: I’m into magical thinking; you’re not.”

This is a very important distinction.

All that John The Baptist did, was to declare “repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near” to heal troubled youths, to help them find their own fixations of resentment and pride, and their forgiveness that set them free. (John’s instruction on how to prepare to pray – after which, is silence). A healing ministry. Not a religion.

“On the day when you were one, you became two. But when you have become two, what will you do?”

Now that you can see yourself, by have two minds. To be ambidextrous and not one-handed. To do anything you want to. You are not bound by magic, but can discover other people’s magic and set the distressed amongst them free.

Having once lived from the comforts of scents, you may live by observation. No one can yank your chain – because you are not tethered to them.

Seduced by the beautiful moonlight, or go to the moon. Be terrorized by the Taliban raping little girls, or see they were raped as little boys. To not get into what you cannot get out of. To enjoy, but not overindulge. ‘Forgive seven times seventy times,’ so as to not get trapped by new temptations of pride.

For they will use white magic, and if that does not work, curse with black magic. As sure as Allah gets Muhammad as sure as God get Satan.

Spreading a little magic…. will harm a child who sees.

        • If a person really loved their g-d with all their strength, with all their heart, mind and soul; then words and images would not affect them, heaven and Earth would pass away and not deviate them by a hair’s breadth..

          Alas.

          It is what it is.

          • That prayer – the Shema – is no qwiki recipe for living a Jewish life. We’re families: living, breathing communities. We pause for a moment to touch bedrock – the Shema – get energized, and go back to checking the soup for shabbat dinner.

The early Christian writings reflect a period of enormous instability. Things fell apart, the center not only didn’t hold, it was missing altogether.

Their time of trial is profoundly antisocial. Listening to the sound of silence instead of having conversations with friends and family.
            - - Scratch that. Celibacy was lauded.

Searching for stability, they got caught up in the grand search for meaning that waylays adolescents. Experimenting with all sorts of alien formulae. Trying poorly understood Greek or Hindi philosophical trends with no knowledge of their context in the respective social frameworks.

Setting aside a period for introspection seems like a good idea. Setting aside life for navel-gazing not so good.
            IMHO

            Shabbat Shalom!

            • That was wonderful, insightful and informative.

“…the grand search for meaning that waylays adolescents…”

They will look at the old and improve on it. For them, sacrificing the first born, will become sacrificing a ram, and then with every catastrophy that follows, modifying until the destruction of the Temple with no God to rise up and defend them – becoming like the Aztecs abandoning their faith due to climate change, onto a new axiom: it rains on the righteous and the unrighteous. Period.

Our mental echo chambers hold no magic. Reiki never worked. Only for the show of prayer and the intimidation of others who are lost in seeking a blessing to avoiding a cursing.

All we can do, is change our attitudes. Blessed are the poor in spirit. And those who have come out of their hypnosis of Race, Creed, Color and Religion, now live with unrestricted speech amongst these Hate Crime Specialists.

To remove from them such religious navel-gazing, to look for the stars as they really are. Each generation knowing more than the last. Rather than less than the last in trying to grasp the sands of time and their expanding bookshelves.

‘There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad wrote The Law of Blessings and Cursings so all will be well with you.’

It did not ring true then, and it does not ring true now.

Druish? So not a New Adam after all but man born of woman. Mitochondria only comes from our mothers, and we would not exist without it. (Who was dumb enough to think the womb was only a vessel for a man’s seed?).

  4. QUEBEC: Here’s a cut of the clip of the guy from further away as Security removes him from presser, it suddenly showed up after so many attempts to access it since mid-evening: Yesterday’s first clip was really much closer up and the guy was walking up the stairs and we could see the words on his hand-held 2′ x 2′ cardboard.

He could have been walking down, and not walking up, although I see and saw it in my mind as walking up the stairs because my eyes were going up as I looked at the scene unfold trying to read the words on his open hand-held sign the words were going up as he spoke.

On this clip: we can hear the guy talk about the vaccine is not approved. And no mass-vaccination, no curfews, no vaccine passports, incredible discrimination. He says to ask the real questions to the Health Minister. The name of the protestor is Amalega Bitondo.

It is fair to suppose, now, this act was in preparation for the pandemic because they knew what was coming, and that this money would get all media that mattered singing from the same Covid-19 hymn book. Without this critical component mentacide was impossible.

It is interesting to see how the government narratives hold up in various jurisdictions.

Just one more story about a child getting vaccinated.

Mom Whose 14-Year-Old Son Developed Myocarditis After Vaccine No Longer Trusts CDC, Public Health Officials

Emily Jo said when health officials push the vaccines it’s “we’re all in this together” but when you follow their advice and you’re injured by a vaccine, you’re on your own.

Aiden Jo, 14, is spending his freshman year of high school sitting on the sidelines because he can’t engage in any physical activity, his mother said. when most kids are in gym class, Aiden is resting in an effort to keep his heart lowered, after being diagnosed with heart inflammation, doctors say he developed after receiving Pfizer’s Covid vaccine.

Aiden’s mother said before he got the vaccine, she was led to believe his chance of his suffering an adverse reaction was one in a million.

He received his first shot May 12, his second shot on June 10th. Several days after his second dose, Aiden woke his mother up at 4:30 am because his chest hurt and he couldn’t breathe.

Jo said she was aware of the potential side effect of heart inflammation, but the CDC said it was rare and always mild. what they didn’t explain is that mild means hospital care and follow-up care indefinitely.

Jo took her son to the Emergency Room in Atlanta, where the CDC has it’s headquarters. The E R doctor first asked if he had the vaccine, then tested his troponin level to see if his heart muscle had been damaged.

Tests came back as abnormal, Aiden was admitted to the cardiac unit. First night in hospital his troponin levels quadrupled. His cardiologist reported it to the CDC’s VARES (ID 1396660). Yes they determined he met the criteria of post-vaccine myocarditis. His cardiologist said no case of myocarditis is mild, that is like saying a heart attack is mild.

Jo said if you were to ask me today if I would vaccinate my children, she would say “no” because the vaccine is not effective and kids are at a low risk.

I think another thing parents should know myocarditis is not covered under the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program and the Countermeasure Injury Compensation Program only covers if you’re incapacitated, wheel-chair bound or dead. We have insurance, but they don’t pay all. It does not cover for tests down the road that we still have to get.

She is a teacher and does not have thousands sitting around- – I don’t feel I should have to pay for doing what the government told me to do. How can the government mandate something when there is no culpability?

The national racial reckoning over reparations and critical race theory is taking over the world of medicine and health care. The national movement to eradicate what activists call systemic racism and white privilege from medicine and health care has few public critics in the medical profession. A podcast of the Journal of the American Medical Association caused a furor this year when one of its editors suggested that discussion of systemic racism is an unfortunate distraction that should be taken off the table. In response to a protest petition, the AMA launched an internal investigation into the creation of the podcast (and a since deleted Tweet that promoted it). Eventually, the Journal’s top two editors, who are both white, resigned – the editor-in-chief’s departure coming after he issued a public apology in which he affirmed the existence of structural racism in the United States and in the health care field.

In Minneapolis, Hennepin Healthcare System removed gynecologist Tara Gustilo, of Filipino descent, from her position as chair of the OB/GYN department after members of her department questioned her “ability to lead.” The demotion followed her series of Facebook posts criticizing critical race theory, Black Lives Matter and “How to Be an Antiracist” author Ibram X. • Iraqi MP dies of COVID-19 as cases jump 600%

BAGHDAD: Iraqi lawmaker Ghida Kambash died Friday after contracting the novel coronavirus, parliament announced, its first member to succumb to the virus as its spread ramps up across the country.

The 46-year-old was a three-time MP from Baquba, northeast of Baghdad, and helped pass laws on education reform and social welfare.

      She leaves behind four children.

Last month, parliament speaker Mohammed Al-Halbussi said up to 20 deputies were confirmed to have been infected with COVID-19.

In total, Iraq’s health ministry has declared around 70,000 coronavirus cases, of whom nearly 3,000 have died and 40,000 recovered.

“The rate at which COVID-19 is spreading through Iraq is extremely alarming,” said Christine Petrie, IRC’s country director.

The country’s health system — already worn down by years of war and poor investments — has been overwhelmed by the rising numbers.

Protective equipment, respirators and even hospital beds are all running low, forcing authorities to turn expo centers, stadiums and hotels into coronavirus wards and confinement centers.

Particularly stark is the “severe shortage of oxygen,” according to the World Health Organization, which recently airlifted 300 oxygen concentrators to help Iraqi hospitals cope.

Aid has also been donated from foreign countries, most recently Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the US.

Still, footage shot in hospitals in Iraq’s south shows patients struggling to breathe without access to respirators as their family members berate health staff.

  15. reuters – Canada PM Trudeau planning snap election, seeks approval for COVID response

OTTAWA, Aug 12 (Reuters) – Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is planning a snap election for Sept. 20 to seek voter approval for the government’s costly plans to combat COVID-19, four sources familiar with the matter said on Thursday.

Trudeau is set to make the announcement on Sunday, said the sources, who requested anonymity given the sensitivity of the situation. Trudeau aides have said for months that the ruling Liberals would push for a vote before the end of 2021, two years ahead of schedule.

Trudeau only has a minority government and relies on other parties to push through legislation. In recent months he has complained about what he calls opposition obstruction.

The Liberals racked up record levels of debt as they spent heavily to shield individuals and businesses from COVID-19. They plan to inject an extra C$100 billion ($80 billion) – between 3% and 4% of GDP – into the economy over the next three years.

Growth is set to rebound in the third quarter and Canada currently has one of the world’s best inoculation records.

Trudeau came to power in 2015 with a majority of the 338 seats in the House of Commons, but in 2019 he was reduced to a minority after old photos emerged of him wearing blackface.

“Circumstances have changed massively since 2019. We need to know whether Canadians support our plans for economic recovery,” said one of the sources.

The official opposition Conservatives, Trudeau’s main rivals, say his spending is excessive and will leave future generations hobbled by debt.

Liberals acknowledge a call for an election now would be a gamble, given that recent opinion polls suggest the party is not yet guaranteed a majority and the risk of a fourth wave of COVID.

That said, a survey by Abacus on Thursday put the Liberals at 37% and the Conservatives at 28%.

The online poll of 3,000 people, conducted between Aug. 6 and 11, suggests Trudeau could well regain control of the House of Commons. The Liberals currently hold 155 of the 338 seats.

To formally launch the campaign Trudeau will need to visit Governor General Mary Simon, the personal representative of head of state Queen Elizabeth, to ask that Parliament be dissolved.

That visit is currently planned for Sunday morning, the sources said. Constitutional experts say Simon will agree to the request.

The Liberal party did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

She estimated the group of vulnerable people was less than 3 per cent of adults.

    • zero hedge – “Wakeup Call”: Pfizer Vax Only 42% Effective Against Infection In July

This week, Dr. Fauci confirmed that “at some time in the future” everyone will likely need a booster shot for the Covid-19 vaccine due to “fading efficacy.”

Now, Axios reports that a new preprint study which has ‘already grabbed the attention of top Biden administration officials’ over the vaccines’ effectiveness against new variants, with Pfizer’s jab being of particular concern.

      https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.08.06.21261707v1

The study found the Pfizer vaccine was only 42% effective against infection in July, when the Delta variant was dominant. “If that’s not a wakeup call, I don’t know what is,” a senior Biden official told Axios.

The study, conducted by nference and the Mayo Clinic, compared the effectiveness of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in the Mayo Clinic Health System over time from January to July. -Axios

The overall figures suggest that the vaccines provide robust (yet lower-than advertised) immunity early on, only to sharply drop in efficacy over time.

Between January and July, Moderna’s vaccine was found to be 86% effective against infection over the study period, while Pfizer’s was 76%. As far as hospitalization, Moderna’s vaccine was 92% effective, while Pfizer’s was 85%.

Bringing the averages down, of course, was the sharp drop in efficacy observed in July with Moderna proving just 72% effective against infection and Pfizer clocking in at 42%.

In other states such as Florida, the risk of infection in July among those who had taken the Moderna vaccine was around 60% lower than for people full vaccinated with Pfizer.

      More via Axios:

Why it matters: Although it has yet to be peer-reviewed, the study raises serious questions about both vaccines’ long-term effectiveness, particularly Pfizer’s.

-It’s unclear whether the results signify a reduction in effectiveness over time, a reduced effectiveness against Delta, or a combination of both.
-“Based on the data that we have so far, it is a combination of both factors,” said Venky Soundararajan, a lead author of the study. “The Moderna vaccine is likely — very likely — more effective than the Pfizer vaccine in areas where Delta is the dominant strain, and the Pfizer vaccine appears to have a lower durability of effectiveness.”
-He added that his team is working on a follow-up study that will try to differentiate between the durability of the two vaccines and their effectiveness against Delta.

      Bring on the boosters.

Vandals damage 22 health sites, often leaving graffiti comparing vaccination drive to Holocaust

French police have been urged to step up security around Covid vaccination and testing centres after a spate of attacks and vandalism in the last month.

As France prepares for a fifth weekend of demonstrations against the health pass, the interior minister, Gérald Darmanin, has written to police chiefs calling for greater vigilance. French media reported that the request had come directly from Emmanuel Macron.

It came after the ministry reported that 22 health sites had been vandalised, including five test centres, 15 vaccination centres, a medical laboratory and a health centre, since 12 July.

A number were sprayed with swastikas or graffiti reading “collabos” (collaborators), “Nazi” or “genocide”, or yellow stars.

[…]Last month, a vaccine centre at Lans-en-Vercors in the Isère was flooded by vandals using a fire hose, damaging the building and equipment. “Vaccines are a new genocide”, “1940” and “assassins” were graffitied on the building.

[…]Last Saturday, almost 237,000 people demonstrated against the health pass across France, according to official figures.

[…]However, Macron’s vaccine encouragement appears to be working

    • Florida gov. announces antibody treatment for virus

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Thursday that he is launching a rapid response unit to expand the use of monoclonal antibodies and relieve pressure at hospitals that continue to report a rise in COVID-19 patients.

  17. Years ago I read Night by Ellie Wiesel aka as # A-7713.

One of the paragraphs in my notes stands out

After being loaded into the transports, “Who knows, they may be sending us away for our own good. The front is getting closer, we shall soon hear the guns. And surely the civilized population will be evacuated”.

“A few days later in another town, we walked to the station, where a convoy of cattle cars were waiting. Eighty persons per car, not enough room to lie down, half of us could sit a while and then we would stand so the others could sit.

Our eyes were opened. Too late.

Days later we pulled into a station ‘Auschwitz’, nobody had ever heard that name.”

What a horrible reminder of what some madmen are capable of.

  18. The Anti-White Infrastructure Bill

    The Anti-White Infrastructure Bill

The infrastructure bill the Senate passed on Tuesday discriminates against whites at every turn.

Americans are enthusiastic about spending money on infrastructure — bridges, roads, broadband and green technologies. But this racist bill locates and hands out jobs and contracts projects based on race, not merit. Minority businesses and neighborhoods hold the inside track. If you’re white, you’re low priority.

The bill includes grants to install solar or wind technologies and generate jobs in areas decimated by closing coal mines or coal-fired electric plans. Here’s the catch: when contractors bid, the bill says minority-owned businesses will get chosen first. Bad news for white contractors and displaced coal miners, who are overwhelmingly white and need jobs. (Section 40209)

The same is true for the bill’s proposals to improve traffic patterns in cities. Contractors and subcontractors get priority only if they’re owned by minorities or women. White male business owners can take a hike. (Section 11509)

  19. This is a pretty horrific example of a forced vaccination. I have no idea if this is COVID-related or not despite the title. I don’t speak the language but it would be interesting to know what those pamphlets are the girl is holding to shield her shoulder.

I have lots of questions about this video but the most glaring is, who is filming it? The nurses don’t seem to be alarmed and it is way too steady to be an objecting bystander. Is this more propaganda theatre?

  20. CBC – Man arrested in Gatineau after allegedly threatening elected official

Suspect allegedly posted photo of himself with gun, made threats on social media

Quebec’s provincial police have arrested a man in his 40s on Wednesday after he allegedly made threats to an elected official.

Sûreté du Québec said the man allegedly made threats against a political figure on social media on Tuesday afternoon. Police did not confirm the identity of the elected official involved.

The individual reportedly posted a message on Facebook saying that Quebec would remember him on Sept. 1, the date on which the vaccine passport will come into effect in the province.

The suspect also posted a photo of himself with a gun.

Police said they carried out a search at the suspect’s home and seized several firearms along with computer equipment.

The suspect has been charged with uttering threats and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday. Police said firearms-related charges could be added at a later time.

    An eventful arrest

Gatineau police, who aided provincial police in the investigation, attempted to intercept the suspect’s vehicle shortly before 7 p.m. Wednesday on Boulevard La Vérendrye Ouest.

“When we tried to stop the vehicle, it crashed into a Sûreté du Québec vehicle and one of our police officers who was there, who was outside his vehicle,” said Renée-Anne St-Amant, a spokesperson for Gatineau police.

“Fortunately, he was able to dodge the vehicle and he was not injured.”

The suspect then fled by foot toward his home in the Mont-Luc district. Gatineau police say they used a Taser when the suspect resisted arrest.

“He tried to hit a police officer,” said St-Amant, adding that the man was then transported to hospital.

Gatineau police will also lay charges of obstruction, assault of an officer, assault with a weapon, flight and reckless driving. Highway Safety Code violations could also be added, police said.

Facebook threats against politicians, results in police chase, Taser and seized guns

The man, whose name is not being released pending a court appearance where charges will be formally laid, was initially accused of making threats on Facebook regarding Quebec’s policies on COVID-19.

The threat involves an unnamed politician and was posted to the man’s personal social media account on Aug. 10, which was the date Quebec announced its intention to mandate vaccine passports

The message contained a reference to Sept. 1, the date the passports are to be implemented, and included the message: “You will remember me.”

[…]Officers pursued the suspect to his residence near Rue Mont-Luc, where the man continued to resist arrest, police said.

He was physically restrained and still tried to punch an officer, said Gatineau police agent Renée-Anne St-Amant. Officers deployed a Taser to subdue the man, and he was taken to hospital for observation.

He is due to appear in court facing a number of charges, including obstructing, assaulting an officer, assaulting an officer with a weapon, flight from police and reckless driving.

Provincial police executed the search warrant and seized several guns, although police did not elaborate on the firearms. They also seized a computer and electronic equipment.
