Reader’s Links for August 4, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

One battery caught on fire during testing. The rest is history.

“At the very least in my opinion these batteries should be sited well away from densely populated areas, and the practice of storing large batteries near or inside homes should cease. As political vanity causes grid scale battery packs to grow in size, the potential for long term harm to anyone unlucky enough to breath the smoke or eat produce grown in battery smoke fallout contaminated soil will also rise.”

    • How unexpected! I predict that building insurance will escalate if the owners used electric vehicles.

      • Homeowner insurance policies have increased all across the board and the main reasons given are possibility of water damage and/or fire. I see car dealerships that are into only electric vehicles. Therefore, I agree with you.

This guy, Michael Mitchell: 65-year-old “Braveheart” actor receives both Sinovac injections, then third Pfizer “booster” shot, dead six days later – He was really into taking the jab, so much so he took the third shortly after the second one because he wanted to travel. Well… his spirit is traveling now.

His Twitter posts are included in the link. This was one major jab promoter.

  5. It is remarkable that noone is talking about Dystopia’s new flag. I mean, is it not newsworthy when a country gets a new symbol of nationhood, even if that country is deemed by its Dear Leader as “post-national”?

    https://www.google.com/search?q=canadian+flag+at+half+mast+image&oq=canadian+flag+at+half&aqs=chrome.3.0i512j69i57j0i512l2j0i22i30.9994j0j4&client=ms-android-bell-ca&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#imgrc=dL6EW2UxA4GXVM

Then again, how can a more appropriate symbol of the current Canada exist? Even if the link above works for you, it isn’t a true representation of the the new flag. The photo above has wind blowing to keep the ol’ Maple Leaf afloat. Those that I see around town are more often hugging their little poles in the dead of summer air; flaccid, limp, lifeless, defeated, and woke to the point of broke. It appears they’ve been left, or commanded to maintain this erectile-disfunctionally-sad status for over one month, and for all I know in perpetuity. For how long are Dystopians supposed to feign tears for the loss of poor native souls? Seriously. How can the flag ever be raised again without affronting this empathy?

And is there not enough tragedy to go around these days without digging up the ancient graves of people nobody knows, snuffed by cruel bastards themselves long dead, and even less relevant to we the living as much as all the dead Irish, Scottish, Hungarians, Jews, Ukranians, or any other minority that has suffered to cruel hands on a massive scale. Even the Radio Man now starts his broadcast by pledging fealty to our new-improved communist deconstructionism by saying he is speaking from land taken from ancient aborigines. Well, if you really cared about the natives as much as you say you do why haven’t you signed over the deed to your building long ago? The same goes for the public schools in which every assembly begins with the same false sensitivity. Sign them over. And sign over the Parliament buildings on Wellington Street while you’re at it. Give it all back or shut-up about it. Words are cheap.

But words are all the Left has. Words are their stock and trade. Words grease their wheels. Words are the bullshit they slide on. The Right is too busy building and raising families to be so preoccupied with silly words. The Left really only cares about getting those flags down to half mast. To steal a term from economics, creative destruction gives the Left immense satisfaction. Except any creation is utterly illusory–destruction is all they will ever accomplish–until the dust they have created runs through their fingers like sand through an hourglass.

Before Dystopia became Dystopia, Canada got its last flag in 1965. This description I’ve taken from some random listing:

On February 15th, 1965, the modern Canadian flag, bearing its hallmark maple leaf, was raised for the first time on Parliament Hill. Today, the maple leaf is a recognized symbol of Canada; it has also come to symbolize unity, tolerance, and peace.

I think it is not a coincidence that dominant red was used in this flag since creeping communism was very much alive back in ’65. Vlad posted a great article a few days ago written by an American named Stang back in the early ’70’s. He laid it all out quite well. So highly placed were card-carrying communists, or their sympathisers, even way back then it would be remiss to not wonder about the sentiments designed into this flag. The “unity” represented by this rag was followed by Quebec separatists sitting in parliament, and by Peeair Troodough (sorry, just keeping the algos out) and his hyper-destructive multi-culti policies. Indeed, some unity and tolerance this flag invited in.

By contrast Canada’s old flag was also red in large part, but my guess is this was intended to symbolize the blood shed in the sacrifice of life in battle for the British empire. Here is a National Post article that tries to place that flag in its rightful racist margin of history:

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/nationalpost.com/news/canada/former-canadian-flag-the-red-ensign-gets-new-darker-life-as-far-right-symbol/wcm/80778f2c-6c23-4000-9917-85176a40e684/amp/

Never mind that without this flag Dystopia would not exist. Nuff said.

Yesterday I spoke with three professionals who mused about leaving Dystopia and its new communism.

Everyone sees the new flag but noone is talking about it.

    • IIRC wasn’t there a statement by the involved church that there were NO lost graves and that every grave ‘s position was still catalogued in the church’s records and that the family were the ones responsible for looking after and replacing headstones and as most had moved away or died that as why there were no headstones. In other words: “there was no “massacre” of indigenes and to say so is a lie.

Have I mixed up two graveyards? I ask as I read the above over a month ago and assumed that it was the one in the news.

      • The Elders know who were buried in the graveyards, the MSM do not. is there an election in the offing, Justine?

      • I dunno, PC, I’m all confused now. This morning I woke up identifying as a friendly wood turtle, poked my head out, then went back into my shell where it’s dark and safe. Later I hope to go for a swim and warm my blood on a sunny rock. I understand only the most basic things nowadays.

A Quest for American Unity | RealClearPolicy
    by Christopher C Hull Phd

This essay is part of a RealClearPolicy series centered on the American Project, an initiative of the Pepperdine School of Public Policy. The project looks to the country’s founding principles to respond to our current cultural and political upheaval.

The United States’ hoary motto, e pluribus unum, symbolized the unity of the colonies against the tyranny of King George III. With apologies to true Latin scholars, the motto of today’s American partisans might well be ex uno plura, Out of the One, Many — symbolizing not only both parties’ seemingly endless bloodlust for each other but also a growing tendency on both Right and Left to deconstruct our great nation into warring racial, gender, and sexual factions.

Our Founding Fathers certainly did not see things this way. Alexander Hamilton, for instance, referred to parties — or factions — as “the most fatal disease” afflicting republics, and hoped to dispense with them in America. As a contemporary put it, “Hamilton said in ‘The Federalist,’ in his speeches, and a hundred times to me that factions would ruin us, and our government had not sufficient energy and balance to resist the propensity to them and to control their tyranny and their profligacy.” Hamilton granted that “the spirit of party, in different degrees, must be expected to infect all political bodies.” But, at best, he saw such partisanship to be a “necessary evil.”

The Worst O-limp-ics Ever – The Conservative Insider
    by: Michelle Malkin
    5-6 minutes

Never have so many won so many accolades for so few real achievements on the world stage. That about sums up the Olympics 2021 — or, as I call them, the O-limp-ics 2021. Indeed, the time has come to retire the hallowed motto of the Games: “Faster, Higher, Stronger.”

In our modern age, it’s: “Woker, Weaker, Loser.”

Take Megan Rapinoe, please. The infamously pink-purple-haired captain of the U.S. women’s soccer team teared up after America’s 1-0 loss to Canada, which hadn’t beaten the U.S. since 2001. “This sucks,” she lamented in a post-defeat TV interview on USA Network. “It sucks.” With a runny nose and watery eyes leaking, she complained: “I don’t think I’ve ever lost to Canada, so it’s a bitter one.”

Well, she is certainly a bitter one, ain’t she? Perhaps if Moany Megan had spent more time running drills on the field instead of running her mouth about Black Lives Matter or gender politics or her hatred for former President Donald Trump, she’d be on the gold medal stand instead of out in the cold. Good riddance.

Then there’s Laurel Hubbard, the New Zealand weightlifter hailed not for her victories but for being the “first out transgender woman to compete in the 125-year history of the Olympics.” Hubbard’s first outing consisted of failing not once, not twice, but three times to lift at 120 kilograms and 125 kilograms. Never mind. She’s already “made Olympic history” and become an “inspiration” for “young people” to “be their authentic selves.”

  15. Impeachment Investigation Against Cuomo to Move ‘As Quickly as Possible’: NY Assembly Speaker
    By Zachary Stieber
    4-5 minutes

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo “can no longer remain in office,” a top Democrat legislator said Tuesday.

Cuomo, a Democrat, sexually harassed multiple women, violating state and federal law, the state’s attorney general announced earlier in the day following a monthslong investigation.

Democrats in the New York Assembly met to discuss the report after it was released.

Following the meeting, Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie said “it is abundantly clear to me that the governor has lost the confidence of the Assembly Democratic majority and that he can no longer remain in office.”

“Once we receive all relevant documents and evidence from the Attorney General, we will move expeditiously and look to conclude our impeachment investigation as quickly as possible,” the Democrat said.

Letitia James, the attorney general, said that her office was cooperating with the Assembly.

Democratic Missouri Governor Michael Parson on Tuesday pardoned Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the St. Louis couple who brandished guns while Black Lives Matter activists trespassed through their neighborhood last summer.

Parson revealed the McCloskey’s pardon along with a batch of other pardons and commutations. The governor did not give any additional statement regarding the McCloskeys.

The McCloskeys pleaded guilty in June to misdemeanor offenses related to their confrontation with Black Lives Matter activists last year. Mark McCloskey pleaded guilty to fourth-degree assault and was fined $750. Patricia McCloskey pleaded guilty to second-degree harassment and was fined $2,000. Both agreed to give up their guns used in the altercation.

President Joe Biden called on Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign on Tuesday after the New York attorney general dropped a report detailing allegations from 11 women about his inappropriate behavior.

Biden told reporters during a press conference that he stood by his former statement that Cuomo should step down if the investigation into his alleged sexual misconduct found his accusers credible.

“I stand by that statement,” said Biden. When asked again if he thinks Cuomo should resign, he answered simply, “Yes.”

Obama pledged to “restore science to its rightful place” during his inauguration, and his director John Holdren detailed a series of actions that agencies should take to protect the independence of scientists.

The “Holdren memo” protected some EPA science during the Trump years, allowing scientific reports to pass that might have otherwise faltered. But he hopes the Biden effort will go further.

John Holdren was President Obama’s Chief Science and Technology Advisor and Senate-confirmed Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology.

Here are some of his quotes:

“The development of a long-term sterilizing capsule that could be implanted under the skin and removed when pregnancy is desired open additional possibilities for coercive fertility control. The capsule could be implanted at puberty and might be removable, with official permission, for a limited number of births.”

“The Planetary Regime might be given responsibility for determining the optimum population of the world and for each region and for arbitrating various countries shares within their regional limits. control of population size might remain the responsibility of each government, but the Regime would have some power to enforce the agreed limits.”

“Adding a sterilants to drinking water or staple food is a suggestion that seems to horrify people most — than most proposals for involuntarily fertility control.”

“A program of Sterilizing women after their 2 or 3 child, despite the relatively greater difficulty of the operation than vasectomy, might be easier to implement than trying to sterilize men.”

“In today’s world, however, the number of children in a family is a matter of profound public concern. The law regulates other highly personal matters. For example, no one may lawfully have more than one spouse at a time. why should the law not be able to prevent a person from having more than two children?”

  20. One Payoff in the Infrastructure Deal Is So Blatantly Corrupt That You Almost Have to Respect the Hustle

While Nancy Pelosi’s machinations may have put the infrastructure deal in jeopardy, the smart money still resides on its passing at some point. There are just too many Republicans who seem too gung-ho, and you’d only need a few crossovers in the House to overcome the socialist wing.

With that said, the contents of the bill are becoming public, revealing the absolute boondoggle that this hastily written bipartisan compromise is. Yet, there’s one corrupt payoff in it that really stands out among the rest.

Enter Sen. Joe Manchin, who has been one of the key players in formulating and moving forward the infrastructure deal. Given that, you knew he’d be getting his palms greased. Even still, I’m not sure I expected it to be this blatant.
