Reader’s Links for August 3, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Going from having brown hair to red hair almost overnight teaches a person much. Suddenly people don’t want you around. They tell you you’re dirty and dangerous and the cause of society’s ills. I understand, better, the redhead. I wonder if I’ve always been one. There are historical indicators….

Doesn’t matter, though, ’cause I y’am what I y’am. We are what we are. Getting the injection won’t change my friggin’ hair colour.

    • I watched most of the videos of the Berlin protests and it seems like the German police have a standard technique to push people backwards causing them to suffer concussion. I have watched many videos of French police and they are no where near as brutal as the German police.

I noted one German policeman in those videos who was obviously a Turk and he was an animal, the protestors kept a camera on him for some time and it was evident that the other policeman or woman with him was more focussed on trying to keep him calm than anything else.

1930’s indeed. People of the anti-Jihad movement that went to Cologne saw the police working closely with Antifa at the Anti-Jihad conference in teh early 2000’s I have to say I was shocked then, but the behaviour of the police in Berlin made that look like nothing.

If I was an ugly hostile radical feminist purple-crew-cutted lesbian communist bitch I would be a tad worried about the comments section of this post. The always-furious UHRFPCCLCB community thinks they can do no wrong and can treat conservatives any way they want but it appears they may be overly optimistic about that assumption.

I wonder how the US lesbian soccer team captain is going to like competing for the bronze knowing full well that at least half the country is rooting for me to break my leg and lose the game 20 to zero. The entire woke establishment is made up of unspeakable assholes and we all wish then nothing but the worst. Apparently, being a constantly whining anti-American communist traitor does garner some push-back…

Frankly, I don’t care if I ever hear from the LGBGTSDEW%$ activist community ever again. I’ve always been pro-gay but they’ve had their 15 minutes and it’s time for them to leave the stage. I just don’t care about them one little iota anymore. Things are better for gays and other minorities in the USA today than they’ve ever been before in world history and they carry on as if they’re in the middle of a racist sexist holocaust. I’m sick and tired of it…

I can clearly remember when I was a kid making the conscious decision that I was way too heavy and chicken to do gymnastics. It’s not for me. The thought of slamming my face (or genitals) into a hardwood balance beam or the end of a vaulting horse was all I needed to know. I’m simply not the gymnastic type, but I have much respect for those who are. I’m just too chicken, personally. It’s not for me…

That being said, if Ms. Biles thought her head was screwed up and was afraid she was going to break her neck I support her 100% for taking a pass. Long jump – not so much, but gymnastics, definitely. It would sicken me thoroughly to see them carting her off the field on a stretcher with one of her limbs bent the wrong way…

    • When did Ms. Biles get the mRNA shot?? Balance, brain “fog”. She clearly was not her usual self! It is a reasonable question to ask these days.

The virus that causes COVID-19 entered the human population due to a leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) sometime before mid-September 2019, according to a new report from Republican members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

“[W]e now believe it’s time to completely dismiss the wet market as the source of the outbreak,” the report, released Sunday, states. “We also believe the preponderance of the evidence proves the virus did leak from the WIV and that it did so sometime before September 12, 2019.”

The report also said there was “ample proof” showing that the virus could have been genetically manipulated prior to the outbreak.

    […]

    Let’s take Gibraltar first.

Located on the southern coast of Spain, the British overseas territory fully vaccinated 99% of its roughly 34,000 residents by June 1st.

COVID-19 is supposed to be gone, right?

But cases have exploded in July.

Despite virtually everyone being double jabbed, restrictions are coming back.

    ==================

Now let’s investigate the Nordic island nation of Iceland.

Iceland has a population of around 369,000 individuals.

The ‘Land of Fire and Ice’ has vaccinated roughly 90% of its adult population and briefly dropped all domestic restrictions the previous months.

    Everything back to normal, right?

Iceland has witnessed an explosion of cases the previous two weeks and restrictions have returned with a vengeance.

Iceland has reinstituted masks, social distancing, and lockdowns in response to the spike in cases.

Despite one of the world’s highest vaccination rates, Iceland continues to set new daily case records.

In fact, Worldometer indicates Iceland set another daily record on the day of this writing.

And Iceland’s top epidemiologist suggested lockdowns could last up to 15 years, basically making them permanent.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo violated federal and state law by sexually harassing multiple women and threatening retaliation against a former employee who made a public complaint about his behavior, according to a bombshell report from the state attorney general’s office.

“The independent investigation has concluded that Governor Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed multiple women and in doing so violated federal and state law,” said state Attorney General Letitia James Tuesday at a press conference. “Specifically, the investigation found that Governor Andrew Cuomo sexually harassed current and former New York State employees by engaging in unwelcome and nonconsensual touching and making numerous offensive comments of a suggestive and sexual nature that created a hostile work environment for women.”

The attorney general’s report also found that Cuomo created an office culture “filled with fear and intimidation” that normalized his illegal behavior and “allowed the sexual harassment to occur and persist.”

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) called for Democrat President Joe Biden and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to both be impeached on Monday, citing the administration’s continually worsening border crisis.

Roy tweeted out what he said were preliminary border numbers for the month of July, which he noted were subject to change.

“Total encounters: 205,029. Total known gotaways: 37,400,” Roy tweeted. “1.3 million for [Fiscal Year] 21 so far. Largest monthly encounter number since 2000.”

The numbers, if accurate, would be the largest total ever recorded by DHS, which was created in 2002 in response to the 9/11 Islamic terrorist attacks.

“What Joe Biden is doing at our border is impeachable,” Jesse Kelly, a political commentator, responded. “It’s more impeachable than Watergate. This is an attack on the sovereignty of America and it’s coming from the Oval Office. Republicans should move to impeach after 2022.”

  15. Infrastructure bill includes $1B for commission run by Manchin’s wife
    by Emily Brooks, Political Reporter | | August 02, 2021 12:51 PM
    3-4 minutes

A commission run by the wife of Democratic West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin would receive $1 billion from the bipartisan infrastructure bill, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.

Gayle Conelly Manchin co-chairs the Appalachian Regional Commission, an economic development partnership between the federal government and 13 Appalachian states. She works in partnership with a co-chairman from one of the states in the region (currently Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam) to lead the commission and was appointed to the post by President Joe Biden and unanimously confirmed by the Senate in April.

The $1 billion distributed over five years, which was originally part of Biden’s American Jobs Plan infrastructure proposal that preceded the bipartisan bill, would fund the Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization initiative. The program provides grants to communities affected by job losses in the coal industry.

In a May statement, Gayle Conelly Manchin said that the $1 billion would help the commission “to more adequately meet the overwhelming needs of communities impacted by job losses resulting from the decline in the coal industry. These ARC grants will be instrumental to the long-term diversification and economic growth in Appalachia.”

  17. New FBI Initiative Will Put “Hate Crime” Quotas On Local Law Enforcement
    Eric StrikerJul 29, 2021 | 700 words 4,760
    3-4 minutes

The Department of Justice and the FBI have a message for local police departments: start charging more white people with hate crimes or invite an investigation.

Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta told an assembly of FBI agents yesterday that they are now tasked with hounding police departments in their district if they do not register any “hate crimes.”

Gupta and FBI Deputy Assistant Director of the Criminal Investigative Division Jay Greenberg have declared “hate crimes” by “racially motivated violent extremists” (a euphemism generally reserved for right-wing white men) to be a national threat priority — a rare designation.

According to Greenberg, the FBI will be increasingly specialized in pursuing “hate crimes” through increased training in the matter, an aggressive media campaign designed to recruit victims in “underrepresented and targeted populations,” and putting federal pressure on local law enforcement to charge and report hate crimes when they otherwise wouldn’t.

      Via CodeMonkeyZ:

The whistleblower reached out with footage filmed of the Dominion Election Management System inside an election center in one of the states that used Dominion software and hardware (not Arizona).

As you will see in the video, the whistleblower initially discusses with a Dominion employee about who holds the BIOS password and it is discovered that the STATE is keeping the password – not Dominion, and not the county.

Later, the whistleblower asks the Dominion employee about connectivity and whether or not the machines can be connected to the internet…

  19. just the news – Hillary Clinton’s old campaign law firm uses China excuse to avoid Carter Page lawsuit

Perkins Coie’s claim of “stateless” entity wins at federal appeals court level. Is Supreme Court next?

The Perkins Coie law firm that helped Hillary Clinton’s campaign fund the now-debunked Steele dossier is using a China excuse to avoid being sued for defamation by former Trump adviser Carter Page. And so far, it is working.

“Three Perkins Coie partners are ‘stateless’ U.S. citizens domiciled in China,” the lawyers representing the firm and the Democratic National Committee argued in an appellate brief earlier this year. “That statelessness is imputed to Perkins Coie and forecloses the existence of complete diversity of citizenship in this case.”

In a little noticed ruling in late June, the 7th Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals in Chicago accepted the Washington D.C.-based firm’s claim that it was a “stateless” entity that can’t be sued in federal court.

“In response to our concerns regarding subject matter jurisdiction, Perkins Coie submitted affidavits from three individual partners who are U.S. citizens domiciled in China: Yun (Louise) Lu, Scott Palmer, and James M. Zimmerman,” the court noted.

“We adhere to this same reasoning and conclude that Perkins Coie (as a named defendant) takes on the stateless status of its individual partners Lu, Palmer, and Zimmerman,” it added. “This attribution of statelessness destroys complete diversity and deprived the district court of the power to hear this case.

The appellate judges acknowledged the legal theory of federal court immunity for “stateless” entities was novel and based on laws created before the rise of multinational corporations and it may be ripe for review by the U.S. Supreme Court.

“We acknowledge that in today’s global business environment, where multinational entities exist in every facet of commerce, this result may strike some as impractical,” the judges noted. “But keep in mind that when Congress enacted the Judiciary Act of 1789, and in the subsequent decades when the Supreme Court decided many of its significant diversity jurisdiction cases, most of today’s business forms did not exist.”

“The Supreme Court has not explicitly answered this question. But the Court has held both that a stateless citizen cannot be sued in diversity (see Newman-Green, 490 U.S. at 828–29) and that the citizenship of a partnership is based on the citizenship of each individual partner,” the judges added.

Page told Just the News that he would continue to fight in the courts because he believes the Clinton-funded dossier amounted to improper foreign interference in the U.S. election. Steele is a British citizen and former MI6 operative.

“Reminiscent of the rigorous years of work by leaders on Capitol Hill and DOJ’s Inspector General who originally uncovered the wrongdoing behind the Steele Dossier, this has remained a long road toward resolving perhaps the worst election interference and intelligence scandals in U.S. history,” Page said.

“I greatly appreciate this latest rigorous analysis by one of the most respected federal appellate courts in America, as they cogently highlighted these serious unresolved questions of law,” he added. “I will continue doing everything in my power to eventually achieve justice in this important matter.”

Marc Elias, a partner for Perkins Coie, did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment. All three of the firm’s partners cited in the brief either moved to China or joined the firm in 2018, long after the Steele dossier at the center of the lawsuit had been created and leaked to the media.

    • July 31, 2021 5:00 am

The Biden administration’s full withdrawal from Afghanistan could leave behind a U.S. Navy veteran kidnapped by the Taliban.

Haqqani network operatives backed by the Taliban abducted Mark Frerichs, a civilian contractor in Afghanistan for the U.S. government, in January 2020. The government has made little progress in retrieving the Navy veteran. U.S. authorities have been able to establish that Frerichs is alive, but have yet to disclose his whereabouts. The State Department has briefed lawmakers in recent weeks, but according to Rep. Mike Waltz (R., Fla.), a former Green Beret in Afghanistan and lead advocate for bringing Frerichs home, the Biden administration’s opacity has hindered the urgent recovery operation.

“I am incredibly frustrated by their lack of responsiveness and lack of answers,” Waltz told the Washington Free Beacon. “The question is: What’s the plan now?”

  24. Tyranny Has Returned to the US, This Time by Proxy
    Deane Waldman
    6-7 minutes

In 1776, the newly minted Americans declared their unequivocal rejection of government tyranny. Back then, tyranny was simple and direct. Today, it’s not.

Tyranny describes “cruel, unreasonable, or arbitrary use of power or control.”

Under 18th century British rule, control was applied directly: aristocrats decreed and government officials — bureaucrats, police, and military — enforced their decrees. The rule of law was arbitrary, applied unevenly depending on class, social position, and wealth.

Today, Americans are tyrannized by their own professional political ruling class indirectly. Rather than passing unconstitutional laws, federal politicians hold press conferences, make pronouncements, and generate advisories or guidelines. Under threat of being canceled, private citizens implement these guidelines, becoming agents or proxies of the federal government.

“As it stands, the only thing between America and rule by a 51-50 majority in the Senate is Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, who would have to stick by the rest of the 50 Democrats to end the 60-vote cloture requirement, or otherwise make filibustering infeasible. So far they’ve been outliers. But no unbearable pressure has been brought on them yet. The brass ring wasn’t within reach until now.

“Removing 60-vote cloture is a crossing of the Rubicon, to be sure. But the atmosphere of political motivation in Washington has just such a character of recklessness to it today.

We’ve never been this close to the unthinkable. That proximity comes from being so close to getting the radical-progressives’ agenda implemented.

“A lot of things will change very quickly if the filibuster is eliminated. For the first time in my life, it appears the odds on the filibuster surviving are about 50-50.

“The Democrats could not have signaled more clearly up to now that they are ready to force through a radical agenda that most Americans never thought they were voting for. The rampant chaos of the southern border situation is evidence of that….

“This infrastructure vote was a major unforced error by the GOP. We could get lucky. But luck, like hope, is not a strategy.”
