Reader’s Links for July 9, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

Two people are dead, a town is all but destroyed, and more than a thousand people have essentially become climate refugees. Lytton, B.C. is Canada’s face-to-face encounter with the future of climate.

    • … so Mexico is going to stay cold and extremely wet in the future? That’s essentially what you’re saying by claiming that Canada will remain hot and dry. Mexico is currently having record breaking cold, storms that are dropping way more water than usual, a recent hail storm in part of the country dumped over a foot of ice… Weather is not climate and I feel like more is at play here than meets the eye. It’s quite possibly that weather warfare has commenced.

I think I’ve had discussions w/enough Boomer-tier Trump supporters who believe the 2020 election was fraudulent to extract a general theory about their perspective. It is also the perspective of most of the people at the Capitol on 1/6, and probably even Trump himself. 1/x
Most believe some or all of the theories involving midnight ballots, voting machines, etc, but what you find when you talk to them is that, while they’ll defend those positions w/info they got from Hannity or Breitbart or whatever, they’re not particularly attached to them. 2/x
Here are the facts – actual, confirmed facts – that shape their perspective: 1) The FBI/etc spied on the 2016 Trump campaign using evidence manufactured by the Clinton campaign. We now know that all involved knew it was fake from Day 1 (see: Brennan’s July 2016 memo, etc). 3/x
These are Tea Party people. The types who give their kids a pocket Constitution for their birthday and have Founding Fathers memes in their bios. The intel community spying on a presidential campaign using fake evidence (incl forged documents) is a big deal to them. 4/x
Everyone involved lied about their involvement as long as they could. We only learned the DNC paid for the manufactured evidence because of a court order. Comey denied on TV knowing the DNC paid for it, when we have emails from a year earlier proving that he knew. 5/x

This was true with everyone, from CIA Dir Brennan & Adam Schiff – who were on TV saying they’d seen clear evidence of collusion w/Russia, while admitting under oath behind closed doors that they hadn’t – all the way down the line. In the end we learned that it was ALL fake. 6/x
At first, many Trump ppl were worried there must be some collusion, because every media & intel agency wouldn’t make it up out of nothing. When it was clear that they had made it up, people expected a reckoning, and shed many illusions about their gov’t when it didn’t happen. 7/x
We know as fact: a) The Steele dossier was the sole evidence used to justify spying on the Trump campaign, b) The FBI knew the Steele dossier was a DNC op, c) Steele’s source told the FBI the info was unserious, d) they did not inform the court of any of this and kept spying. 8/x
Trump supporters know the collusion case front and back. They went from worrying the collusion must be real, to suspecting it might be fake, to realizing it was a scam, then watched as every institution – agencies, the press, Congress, academia – gaslit them for another year. 9/x
Worse, collusion was used to scare people away from working in the administration. They knew their entire lives would be investigated. Many quit because they were being bankrupted by legal fees. The DoJ, press, & gov’t destroyed lives and actively subverted an elected admin. 10/x

This is where people whose political identity was largely defined by a naive belief in what they learned in Civics class began to see the outline of a Regime that crossed all institutional boundaries. Because it had stepped out of the shadows to unite against an interloper. 11/x
GOP propaganda still has many of them thinking in terms of partisan binaries, but A LOT of Trump supporters see that the Regime is not partisan. They all know that the same institutions would have taken opposite sides if it was a Tulsi Gabbard vs Jeb Bush election. 12/x
It’s hard to describe to people on the left (who are used to thinking of gov’t as a conspiracy… Watergate, COINTELPRO, WMD, etc) how shocking & disillusioning this was for people who encourage their sons to enlist in the Army, and hate ppl who don’t stand for the Anthem. 13/x
They could have managed the shock if it only involved the government. But the behavior of the corporate press is really what radicalized them. They hate journalists more than they hate any politician or gov’t official, because they feel most betrayed by them. 14/x
The idea that the press is driven by ratings/sensationalism became untenable. If that were true, they’d be all over the Epstein story. The corporate press is the propaganda arm of the Regime they now see in outline. Nothing anyone says will ever
make them unsee that, period. 15/x

This is profoundly disorienting. Many of them don’t know for certain whether ballots were faked in November 2020, but they know for absolute certain that the press, the FBI, etc would lie to them if there was. They have every reason to believe that, and it’s probably true. 16/x
They watched the press behave like animals for four years. Tens of millions of people will always see Kavanaugh as a gang rapist, based on nothing, because of CNN. And CNN seems proud of that. They led a lynch mob against a high school kid. They cheered on a summer of riots. 17/x
They always claimed the media had liberal bias, fine, whatever. They still thought the press would admit truth if they were cornered. Now they don’t. It’s a different thing to watch them invent stories whole cloth in order to destroy regular lives and spark mass violence. 18/x
Time Mag told us that during the 2020 riots, there were weekly conference calls involving, among others, leaders of the protests, the local officials who refused to stop them, and media people who framed them for political effect. In Ukraine we call that a color revolution. 19/x
Throughout the summer, Democrat governors took advantage of COVID to change voting procedures. It wasn’t just the mail-ins (they lowered signature matching standards, etc). After the collusion scam, the fake impeachment, Trump ppl expected shenanigans by now. 20/x

Re: “fake impeachment”, we now know that Trump’s request for Ukraine to cooperate w/the DOJ regarding Biden’s $ activities in Ukraine was in support of an active investigation being pursued by the FBI and Ukraine AG at the time, and so a completely legitimate request. 21/x
Then you get the Hunter laptop scandal. Big Tech ran a full-on censorship campaign against a major newspaper to protect a political candidate. Period. Everyone knows it, all of the Tech companies now admit it was a “mistake” – but, ya know, the election’s over, so who cares? 22/x
Goes w/o saying, but: If the NY Times had Don Jr’s laptop, full of pics of him smoking crack and engaging in group sex, lots of lurid family drama, emails describing direct corruption and backed up by the CEO of the company they were using, the NYT wouldn’t have been banned. 23/x
Think back: Stories about Trump being pissed on by Russian prostitutes and blackmailed by Putin were promoted as fact, and the only evidence was a document paid for by his opposition and disavowed by its source. The NY Post was banned for reporting on true information. 24/x
The reaction of Trump ppl to all this was not, “no fair!” That’s how they felt about Romney’s “binders of women” in 2012. This is different. Now they see, correctly, that every institution is captured by ppl who will use any means to exclude them from the political process. 25/x

And yet they showed up in record numbers to vote. He got 13m more votes than in 2016, 10m more than Clinton got! As election night dragged on, they allowed themselves some hope. But when the four critical swing states (and only those states) went dark at midnight, they knew. 26/x
Over the ensuing weeks, they got shuffled around by grifters and media scam artists selling them conspiracy theories. They latched onto one, then another increasingly absurd theory as they tried to put a concrete name on something very real. 27/x
Media & Tech did everything to make things worse. Everything about the election was strange – the changes to procedure, unprecedented mail-in voting, the delays, etc – but rather than admit that and make everything transparent, they banned discussion of it (even in DMs!). 28/x
Everyone knows that, just as Don Jr’s laptop would’ve been the story of the century, if everything about the election dispute was the same, except the parties were reversed, suspicions about the outcome would’ve been Taken Very Seriously. See 2016 for proof. 29/x
Even the courts’ refusal of the case gets nowhere w/them, because of how the opposition embraced mass political violence. They’ll say, w/good reason: What judge will stick his neck out for Trump knowing he’ll be destroyed in the media as a violent mob burns down his house? 30/x

It’s a fact, according to Time Magazine, that mass riots were planned in cities across the country if Trump won. Sure, they were “protests”, but they were planned by the same people as during the summer, and everyone knows what it would have meant. Judges have families, too. 31/x
Forget the ballot conspiracies. It’s a fact that governors used COVID to unconstitutionally alter election procedures (the Constitution states that only legislatures can do so) to help Biden to make up for a massive enthusiasm gap by gaming the mail-in ballot system. 32/x
They knew it was unconstitutional, it’s right there in plain English. But they knew the cases wouldn’t see court until after the election. And what judge will toss millions of ballots because a governor broke the rules? The threat of mass riots wasn’t implied, it was direct. 33/x
    a) The entrenched bureaucracy & security state subverted Trump from Day 1, b) The press is part of the operation, c) Election rules were changed, d) Big Tech censors opposition, e) Political violence is legitimized & encouraged, f) Trump is banned from social media. 34/x

They were led down some rabbit holes, but they are absolutely right that their gov’t is monopolized by a Regime that believes they are beneath representation, and will observe no limits to keep them getting it. Trump fans should be happy he lost; it might’ve kept him alive. end

You Can Be as Woke as You Want as Long as You Are Functionally Useless

Tim Kirby June 6, 2021 This is the real reason why Disney Lesbian army ads are the new normal, Tim Kirby writes.

Ted Cruz has come under fire for recently stating his disapproval of a woke/LGBT military recruitment video when compared side-by-side to a contemporary Russian equivalent. The American video was animated in a sort of Disney style, telling the tale of a young woman, the “daughter” of two mothers going off to fight for America as a continuation of her fight for what’s right as a Left Wing street activist. The Russian video was more of a gritty low-saturation short about men needing to prove themselves as soldiers. The ad with shaved-headed Russians has a much more tried and true message aimed at the gender that historically has done almost all the fighting throughout human history – men. It is obvious that anthropomorphic-suit Ted Cruz was not praising Russia or exalting the superiority of the Russian military as his beta-male detractors have tweeted. The quintessential pre-Trump Republican simply and honestly wants what he thinks is best for the U.S. military – having effective recruitment ads that will actually get results by enticing (mostly) young men to sign up for various combat roles that we could essentially classify into the umbrella term “infantrymen”. But perhaps Cruz is actually wrong, not for saying the Russians are doing recruitment right, but for believing in the antiquated notion that infantrymen are actually needed.

One of the main criticisms from those with traditional/masculine views is that “wokeness” either does not work or is highly inefficient. But these detractors from the dogma of the 21st century forget that you can be as woke as you want as long as you are functionally useless or there are zero blatantly perceivable consequences. This is the real reason why Disney Lesbian army ads are the new normal. And even if a woke army leads to more casualties the politicians do not care, this new ideology comes first.

As I have stated many times over the years, thanks to the media, our perception of war looks something like World War II or at the very most modern Vietnam. One could make an argument that besides disease, the big killers or 20th century warfare were artillery and bombardment, not so much “guy with gun” as Hollywood would like us to believe. Having a main character lost in the first five minutes of a film to an artillery strike that he couldn’t even see coming is nor particularly dramatic. Although we may not like it, and it is bad for developing good action scenes, the infantryman as a major player in war is already a romantic concept of the past. The “victories” of the U.S. Armed Forces in the 21st century in the Middle-East have all come from the skies and NOT M-16s, bayonets or John Wayne Bushido.

The real last remaining role of grunt infantry is occupation. Essentially, when an enemy is defeated it is the infantry that make the presence of the victory known and secure. Much like the police their function is to keep the locals pacified and respond to minor threats, not win huge glorious battles. This is much in the same way that no matter how heroic a cavalry charge may be (successful or not) there is really no role left for cavalry other than to allow certain military units to traverse particularly brutal terrain when helicopters are non-viable such as on a routine daily border patrol of a mountainous region. Perhaps certain special forces units look far from as pathetic as 21st century “cavalry” but the average grunt in Iraq/Afghanistan is pretty close – doing home raids, policing, frying under the sun while contemplating the futility of his life.

For those who find this concept unacceptable, think of it this way: what actually keeps America safe from its enemies? ICBMs with nuclear warheads or guys with guns?

Although I myself and Ted Cruz would prefer to play it safe and keep the military as the bastion of hyper-masculinity just in case, it would seem that technology has allowed American Armed Forces to become woke since the individual soldier and especially the infantryman may no longer matter. The soldier is not there to win wars or defend the homeland to the death but stand around as an occupation unit for a bit above minimum wage. They just need someone to stand there and get shot at a shilling a day to keep an occupation going.

So far there is no wokeness in Alaskan oil work as it would collapse this vital system. Brutal outdoor work in the cold requires a certain kind of character, but perhaps with the nature of 21st century warfare certain people in Washington have sent the signal that the military can be as woke as it wants because it doesn’t matter anymore in large scale operations. Again special forces and more delicate work is still an exception for now. The elite will continue to party like it’s 1950 in their heterosexuality while the potato peelers will be gender fluid.

The Russians are always scared when their media reports that 5,000 or so U.S. Troops are training at their border in Estonia or somewhere. But, what are they actually afraid of? Again due to media manipulation the average Russian expects some sort of ground based attack which is utter madness. Russia should only be so lucky as to have their enemy charge them, rainbow flags unfurled crying a rebel yell of diversity. No modern eighteen-year-olds are going to die en masse to take a few meters of Russian soil. Even if these were the same type of men who went over the top in 1914 it wouldn’t matter as infantry are just not as useful as they used to be.

On the surface, we do not seem to need a temple of masculinity in our high-tech world so it is no surprise the military is under attack by the Extreme Left’s crusade to castrate the planet starting with the West. We should expect more and more standards shifting and LGBT influence being pushed down the pipeline onto the Armed Services of the United States. They know they are never going to have to charge the Russians with bayonets so who cares? Anyone can move boxes and mop the floor, testosterone is not mandatory.

In my own personal opinion, now would be the time to do the exact opposite, and retain the hyper-masculinity of the military but in a new way. Since the “automata” of Friedrich II are no longer the core of the army, perhaps now would be a great opportunity to recreate the scholarly cultured warriors of the past. Testosterone-fueled warriors and learned men like knights, the samurai or the great Roman generals would be a good goal post to set. Like the rainbow-haired crowd I also think the army can have a cultural and social function, I just believe it has a radically different one. We are at an amazing time when the idea of what a soldier could be is changing, and could very well change for the betterment of society, but his gender and sexual orientation should remain a timeless classic.

    • You’re welcome, Michelle. As an admitted Type-A male I struggle against the current culture to maintain healthy, tempered competitive aggression into my own sons. Ultimately, though, their genes should rule this.

      • Having reread it I now think that he is full of “it”. Sure in a short term, Hi Tec war there wont be much use for infantry. But vs someone equally powerful(Russia, China or even nuclear Iran) when that dust settles(and if there is anyone still left) and it still is not over, it will be man vs man and then numbers, training and testosterone count. Even post nuclear holocaust such men will be desperately needed not woke fairies with lofty aims and weak arms.

The writer is actually woke himself going by the timbre of his article or else he lives in cloud cuckoo land. Iraq and Afghanistan were police actions NOT real wars like Korea or Vietnam or the next BIG one.

        • The way Robert Heinlein put it was: The war isn’t over until some scared kid with a knife on the end of his rifle digs them out of their holes.

You will always need the infantry, high tech can do a lot but it can’t dig them out of their holes.

Door-to-door vaccination proselytizing: How many admin spox does it take to mimic the Fauci effect?

    High noon. C-SPAN video

Dr. Anthony Fauci may have famously had his face on a jelly doughnut, but what he is principally known for at this point is flip-flopping on all of the main public measures proclaimed to combat COVID-19. From lockdowns to face masks to school closures to the efficacy of vaccines, Fauci has seemed to be on every side of the issue; in most cases, more than once.

The Biden administration gave him a run for his money in the last 72 hours on one topic, however. But it took three prominent spokespersons to bring it off.

The topic: the administration’s vow to go door-to-door across America to spread the gospel of vaccination. It was on Tuesday at the White House press briefing that Jen Psaki announced President Biden’s intentions on the matter:

Academics rushed to defend a former teacher at an elite New York City school who taught “pornography literacy” to high schoolers and showed first graders a cartoon about masturbation.

Justine Ang Fonte taught sex education at Dalton School in Manhattan for nine years, the New York Times reported, developing K-12 curriculums for students and speaking and offering workshops at other New York City schools. The sex educator sparked a backlash from parents when she taught two Zoom sessions to Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School on the Upper West Side in May to junior and senior high schoolers.

    • We here all know what we can expect from the Swamp in the USA and peace, freedom of action, speech and thought, real justice and even the rule of law, are NOT among them.
The same applies to many if not most other western states where any concerted attempt to route the socialists is undermined by the globalist takeover/control of most conservative parties.
The two party system has always been inherently weak unless they were polar as then there was actual choice, but now in many ways they are just differently coloured mirror reflections of each other, and it boils down to the “lesser evil” with neither willing to do much for the people.
I cannot see any peaceful way around this impasse.

      • Your not the only one, look at how the States are forming militias that DC has not control over.

    • In WW2 US submarines had a lot of problems with “errant” torpedoes sinking at least one and perhaps more of the actual ships that fired them.
Can you imagine the torpedoes or missiles that woke lunatics would design and manufacture when intersectional credentials are more important than competence.
There is an old university engineering faculty male joke about this: apparently the government give all uni’s more money for each disabled, gay, non white graduate while engineering adds women to that list.
The suspicion is(no one has ever admitted it openly) that each category gives that person a 10 mark boost in exams. So that a theoretical disabled(even a diabetic could wangle that), gay, non white, female engineering student could pass exams by achieving 10 % in an exam and if the pass mark was “flexible”(say 40%) so long as she turned up to lectures and tut’s she would graduate.

I initially found this incredibly insulting to all groups as it is obvious that they think that those involved cannot pass any other way. By hard work I managed to beat >95% of the males in all of my years but now I see hopeless parasites sliding along on their supposed victimhood and bringing their incompetence to a place near you. Having to be expected to actually work must have been a shock…oops further disability and on it goes.

Michigan’s attorney general, with assistance from police officers, will investigate people who claimed election fraud happened during the 2020 contest.

A spokeswoman for Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel told news outlets on July 8 that the Democrat will probe people who allegedly made false claims, with help from Michigan State Police.

The spokeswoman said Nessel decided to launch the probes on a request from Republicans in the Michigan Senate.

A Republican-controlled Senate panel last month issued a report saying it “found no evidence of widespread or systematic fraud in Michigan’s prosecution of the 2020 election.”

  12. The Moral Case for Abolishing the Inheritance Tax – Frontpagemag
    Jason D. Hill
    9-11 minutes

How it violates freedom of conscience and destroys productivity.

There is a common belief among left-wing “progressives” that failure to enforce the inheritance tax will result in increased income disparities among racial, ethnic and social groups. The tax is a way of allocating the already-taxed income of wealth creators among the general population in a manner, it is imagined, that will ease society toward the moral position any fair and just society ought to occupy: one that has achieved total equity among groups, and one that establishes metaphysical egalitarianism as an appropriate characteristic of the human condition.

But let us start from the beginning. When one is the offspring of a deceased wealth creator who is being taxed on her inheritance, exactly what is she being taxed on? Let us call this person Catherine. Catherine’s father, Mario, migrated from Poland to the United States in 1946 and started a small business in construction without government help. He started out as a construction laborer, saved his money and, after fifteen back-breaking, torturous years, began a roofing company based on a loan acquired from a loan shark. On account of his broken English and lack of a formal education he was unable to acquire a loan from a reputable financial institution. In five years, Mario owned four such companies. By the time Catherine was born her father was the sole owner of a dozen roofing companies in the state of Illinois. He had also expanded his businesses to include plumbing and house painting, and even started a moving franchise. Mario was a millionaire by the time Catherine was five—allowing her American-born mother to homeschool her and her two younger brothers.

    • The Death Tax was designed to prevent the accumulation of wealth by the poorer classes and to allow the upper classes to shelter their wealth in Corporations that own themselves. This has allowed the Federal Government to acquire most of the smaller ranches in the Western States. The planned inflation of the Keynesian economic policies raises the price of the land to the point the smaller ranches are worth enough money to trigger the Death Tax. The land is sold to get the money to pay the tax and the family business is ruined for the smaller ranchers.

When I was in Collage (the 1970s) it cost the US government $1.25 to collect $1.00 through the Death Tax, this fact was well known but the left fights tooth and nail to keep the Death Tax so the little people can’t have any upward mobility.

The House of Representatives just voted to create a select committee to investigate the unrest on Capitol Hill on January 6, 2021. And — surprise, surprise — Representatives Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger crossed over to vote with the Democrats in support of their select committee. Cheney found herself appointed to the select committee by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. She says she is “honored to serve.” Cheney’s Republican primary opponent(s) must be overjoyed.

Pelosi advanced the creation of the select committee when an earlier effort at a so-called joint “independent” commission failed after Senate Republicans blocked the initiative.

Pelosi’s committee has absolutely nothing to do with the investigation of facts concerning what happened on January 6. It is a transparent political ploy to sensationalize and criminalize all things and persons related to President Donald Trump and political conservatism.

    Michael Fumento
    9-11 minutes

America’s military bases across the world number in the hundreds and are located on every continent. There are perhaps close to 800 in more than 70 countries and territories. But President Biden is ensuring that none will be in what’s indisputably one of the most vital areas in the world, Afghanistan.

A very brief history rehash here. Al-Qaeda, operating from Afghanistan with the support of the Taliban, attacked American facilities or America proper in 1992, 1993, 1995, 1998, and 2000. Then came September 11, and finally the U.S. invaded Afghanistan to root out al-Qaeda and its supporters.

Sadly, before the U.S. and its allies could consolidate a victory, President Bush invaded Iraq, and suddenly Afghanistan became a sideshow fought on a shoestring. I know. As a photojournalist I first visited Iraq three times over three years and then Afghanistan in 2007. The difference was incredible.
