Reader’s Links for June 30, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

NASA administrator on UFO report: ‘I don’t think we are’ alone

By Mychael Schnell – 06/28/21 10:23 AM EDT

    NASA Administrator Bill Nelson

on Sunday said he does not think individuals on Earth “are alone” in the universe, following the release of a United States intelligence report that revealed the U.S. government has encountered more than 140 unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), commonly known as UFOs.

The intelligence report, which was unclassified on Friday, said the U.S. government has encountered 144 UAP since 2004. Of the sightings, one was identified with high confidence, while the others remain a mystery.

The nine-page unclassified assessment presented a number of potential explanations for the encounters, including airborne clutter, natural atmospheric phenomena, top-secret U.S. government programs and foreign adversary systems.

It also, however, presented “a catchall ‘other’ bin” as an additional explanation.

Nelson, who has reviewed the unclassified and classified versions of the report, said he believes Earth is not alone in the galaxy.

“Are we alone? Personally, I don’t think we are,” Nelson said during an interview on CNN.

“The universe is so big, it’s 13 1/2 billion years ago is when the universe started. That’s pretty big. But people are hungry for this kind of information and we’re going to keep searching,” he added.

He said the report “says basically what we thought,” referring to Navy pilots who previously reported UAP sightings.

“We don’t know the answer to what those Navy pilots saw. Now they know that they saw something. They tracked it, they locked their radar on to it, they followed it, it would suddenly move quickly from one location to another. And what the report does tell us that is public is that there have been over 140 of these sightings,” Nelson, a former U.S. senator from Florida, said.

He added that the UAP sightings by the Navy pilots “may not be extraterrestrial,” and could possibly be new technology obtained by an adversary country.

Nelson said if the latter is the case “we better be concerned.”

He said the U.S. does not think that other countries have capabilities to create such flying objects, but cautioned that “the universe is so large.”

“We don’t think so. But when it comes to the universe, remember, the universe is so large. We have a program in NASA called the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. But thus far, we don’t have any receipt of communication from something that’s intelligent,” Nelson said.

The assessment came after lawmakers inserted the requirement for the report into last year’s intelligence authorization bill, following a spike in UFO sightings by U.S. military flyers.

  3. June 30, 2021. This morning’s 4 a.m. attempt at pre-crime entry was deleted on VTB by Pre-Crime. The test, therefore, is already successful. I now must try to “write back better”. Right. Write. What a world.

Last night I had a lucid dream. Lucid in the sense that it was intended, and I was aware. I cycled to Parliament Hill, tomorrow, for the protest. I arrived at 1 p.m to see Hillier and Bernier. The sky was a mix of sun and cloud. A lovely day. Warm. Many thousands attended. Conservatives were maskless. Collectivists, who were also protesting, were uniformly masked, as expected. Uniformed. Apolitical patriots were pickles and onions in this regard. Later on I would ask a token conservative why his face was covered. “Spiked pollen,” he would say. Fair enough, thought I. Who am I to judge. And anything in a dream is a fair go. Besides, that Israeli psychiatrist is right. The masked, the watched, the struggling and the injected are all victims. They are not the enemy, he said. But what of injected Dear Leader? Friend or foe? I slap myself in the face. As hard as Mama did but without the weight of love behind the swing. Doubtful Dear Leader got the stab. He would have made a grand ceremony of it, replete with court jesters, the changing of the guard and trumpeteers. The Canadian Brainwashing Corporation would toot his great heroism. What a man, they would say. Maybe he will join we servants on the Hill and give us a little Indian dance. A Queen’s wave. All post-national women would swoon. I slap myself again on the other side of my face. My eyes water. No, he won’t show. He is mourning the natives lost to the Catholic church. He is mourning at the official cottage at Harrington Lake. Poor thing. I feel what he feels he says what he thinks he must feel. For this I am an empath. I hit myself again once last time, just for next time, right on the button. That’ll learn me.

I look at my compass. (Yes, I have changed tenses because my dream lense has zoomed in to express dramatic change in the scene.) I have brought the compass along to detect mRNA interferences. It spins wildly. Shedders abound. I back my bicycle up into a small clearing. Bike back-ups are like dog back-ups. Always awkward. Mother Nature didn’t build dogs to back-up very well, poor things. Bikes too, poor things. I look up. There are dark police vans with tall poles and special cameras attached at the top. I also noted these on the streets approaching the Hill. It dawns these must be facial recognition cameras. I know that masks do not prevent them from identifying you. They are pre-registering free radicals to their pre-crime list. For this reason they are happy to see us here. The CBC is there, too, but incognito. Since the Covid gear change they no longer fly their colours. They are Ministry of Lies reporters. They saw how that BBC reporter was hounded out of a protest in London last week and are very careful. They will speak freely only in the masked crowds. They will amplify a-la PCR the collectivist numbers at 60 cycles, the conservatives’ numbers will by negatively cycled.

My compass has settled down to steady North. It reminds me of my youthful days growing up in tough East Tuktoyaktuk. That’s where the men were men, the women were women, and the blubber was fresh. “Woke” meant waking up at perpetual dawn, not looking over at your juicy little snoring Nanuk wishing you were her. I wonder how the Inuit handled their gender dysphoria in the old days before the white man came. Must have been hell stuck in the wrong body, in the wrong igloo, at the wrong time in history. What could you do in that vast desert? Catch more fish? I miss my fresh blubber. Can’t get no blubber fix in Ottawa. Suddenly I gots the junkie blubber twitch. Haven’t had that in years. I miss my true North strong and free.

I hear shouting. A masked woman is yelling at an unmasked man. (Notice how the “Karen” moniker has faded?) Everything fades fast now because things move so quickly. She calls him a murderer. He shouts something back that I don’t quite get but I don’t think it is a swear word. I scan the crowd for my friends who are supposed to be here. This is hopeless because there are too many people. I will text them to meet at the flame. There is more shouting between the masked and the unmasked. How quickly we were divided. As if a massive cleaver came down through the heart of our nation. I sense there may be trouble today.

It will not take much. The collectivists have learned that the false flags no longer need to be massive events or gruesome attacks, always. They have learned more nuanced approaches with the refined use of the tools at their disposal. Those not wearing a mask will be depicted in any unsavory role that serves the narrative of the day. Ignorant, racist, far-right, knuckle-dragging troglodytes. The CBC will paint the scene artfully, but in an impressionist’s light and with Picasso logic. In keeping with the current and effective American model the event is already likely planned. The maskless antagonist will be an undercover cop. He will respond to another actor aggressively. Uniformed police will be on the spot because as in all theatre the floors are marked. They jump in and both actors are arrested. Weeks later we will discover neither was charged with an offense. All maskless, uninjected people are henceforth branded a danger both by their spikelessness and attitude. PCR’d in the threat scale to 75 cycles. Nova Scotia’s injunction limiting gatherings jumps on a train headed West, as planned. Last stop Victoria B.C..

What a world, indeed. All pre-crime fiction, yes. But narrative turnabout is fair play.

The line between peaceful protest (as outlined by the First Amendment) and riot was blurred last summer when mobs angered by the death of George Floyd set fires and wreaked havoc in several American cities. The mainstream media and Democrats in Congress were content to brand the protest as “mostly peaceful” despite the fact billions of dollars in damages were sustained and several dozen lives were lost.

Then came the events of Jan. 6 when Trump supporters descended on the Capitol to protest the outcome of the 2020 election. While the bulk of the protesters remained outside the building, many of them penetrated the interior. This time the same news outlets and Democratic leaders who had excused BLM’s and Antifa’s behavior cried “insurrection.”

So how do we classify the latest demonstration, which occurred yesterday when a mob of climate activists blockaded all ten entrances to the White House? The group, which calls itself the Sunshine Movement, describes its own actions in a tweet.

  12. WEB WARNINGS Google will warn you about ‘fake news’ websites before you click on them

GOOGLE has begun warning users that its search results may be unreliable.

The feature is aimed at breaking news stories, when information is often rapidly changing and sometimes inaccurate.

Google announced the change earlier this month and has now begun testing it in some regions, according to a recent blog post.

Upon searching for keywords surrounding a breaking story, a warning reads: “It looks like these results are changing quickly”.

The message continues: “If this topic is new, it can sometimes take time for results to be added by reliable sources”.

In its June 25 blog post, Google suggested that users of its popular search engine may want to check back later when it’s found more results.

“While Google Search will always be there with the most useful results we can provide, sometimes the reliable information you’re searching for just isn’t online yet,” Google said.

“This can be particularly true for breaking news or emerging topics, when the information that’s published first may not be the most reliable.”

The company said it has trained its search algorithms to spot when a topic is rapidly evolving and a range of sources haven’t weighed in yet.

“We’ll now show a notice indicating that it may be best to check back later when more information from a wider range of sources might be available,” Google added.

The change is now live for select users and is expected to roll out to more people over the coming months.

It’s the latest attempt by Silicon Valley to tackle online misinformation.

Facebook, for instance, removes false claims made by users and news organisations about Covid-19 vaccines.

The claims first need to have been debunked by public health experts.

Facebook has also introduced a new pop-up that encourages people to read news articles before sharing them.

The warning message, currently being tested among select users, appears if someone clicks to share a link that they haven’t opened.

Twitter implemented a similar system during the 2020 US Presidential election.

In other news, Google this month put into action new rules for users that will lead to your photos being DELETED if you don’t log on regularly.

  13. Top Experts Say COVID-19 ‘Delta Variant’ Symptoms Are Identical To ‘Hay Fever’, Common Cold’

    Absolutely terrifying

Top experts have likened the COVID-19 “Delta Variant” to the common cold and hay fever. This comes as people like Anthony Fauci, Boris Johnson, and the WHO are pushing for more social distancing, lockdowns, mask mandates, and vaccinations.

Experts in the United Kingdom have compared the symptoms of the COVID-19 “Delta Variant” to that of hay fever and the common cold, according to various reports. The new strain has reportedly been the cause of 99% of all new COVID-19 cases in the UK. “The main symptoms of COVID-19 appear to have changed — with headaches and sore throats now more common than fevers and coughs, according to a warning by UK experts,” noted the New York Post.

“Allergy sufferers can experience some of the same symptoms as those with Covid, which can cause huge levels of anxiety,” said Dr. Connor Bryant, co-founder of clean air tech MedicAir, according to Mirror. “COVID is acting differently now, it’s more like a cold,” said Tim Spector, a professor of genetic epidemiology. “All those are not the old classic symptoms.”

Dr. Fauci continues to assert that “the Delta variant is currently the greatest threat in the US to our attempt to eliminate COVID-19,” which reportedly has accounted for 20% of all new COVID-19 cases in the United States. Fauci maintains that COVID-19 vaccines can protect people from the “Delta Variant,” adding that young, unvaccinated people are “more vulnerable than ever.”

However, many Americans are skeptical about the COVID-19 vaccinations they’ve received amid reports of the “Delta Variant” infecting individuals after they’ve been fully vaccinated. As was reported by the Wall Street Journal, “About half of adults infected in an outbreak of the Delta variant of Covid-19 in Israel were fully inoculated with the Pfizer Inc. vaccine, prompting the government to reimpose an indoor mask requirement and other measures to contain the highly transmissible strain.”

On May 13, Joe Biden told America to “get vaccinated or wear a mask until you do,” prompting hundreds of millions of Americans to eventually receive their COVID-19 vaccines.

The World Health Organization is now urging fully vaccinated individuals to continue wearing masks, socially distance, and practice COVID-19 safety measures. “Vaccine alone won’t stop community transmission,” said Dr. Mariangela Simao, WHO assistant director-general for access to medicines and health products. “People need to continue to use masks consistently, be in ventilated spaces, hand hygiene … the physical distance, avoid crowding. This still continues to be extremely important, even if you’re vaccinated when you have a community transmission ongoing.”

    • zero hedge- “Panic Porn Dressed Up As Science” – Exposing The Truth About The Delta Variant

Equity futures are in the red Wednesday morning as Dr. Anthony Fauci’s warnings about the supposedly “dire threat” posed by the Delta variant continue to be dramatically amplified by the American media.

[…]But is the Delta variant really “far more contagious” than earlier iterations of SARS-CoV-2?

In a recent piece published by the Blaze, writer Daniel Horowitz explains that the existing data suggests Delta isn’t any deadlier or more infectious than other strains. Horowitz described the warnings from epidemiologists and public health bureaucrats like Dr. Fauci as “panic porn dressed up as science.”

The implication from these headlines is that somehow this variant is truly more transmissible and deadly (as the previous variants were falsely portrayed to be), they escape natural immunity and possibly the vaccine — and therefore, paradoxically, you must get vaccinated and continue doing all the things that failed to work for the other variants!

After each city and country began getting ascribed its own “variant,” I think the panic merchants realized that the masses would catch on to the variant scam, so they decided to rename them Alpha (British), Beta (South African), Gamma (Brazilian), and Delta (Indian), which sounds more like a hierarchy of progression and severity rather than each region simply getting hit when it’s in season until the area reaches herd immunity.

However, if people would actually look at the data, they’d realize that the Delta variant is actually less deadly. These headlines are able to gain momentum only because of the absurd public perception that somehow India got hit worse than the rest of the world. In reality, India has one-seventh the death rate per capita of the U.S.; it’s just that India got the major winter wave later, when the Western countries were largely done with it, thereby giving the illusion that India somehow suffered worse. Now, the public health Nazis are transferring their first big lie about what happened in India back to the Western world.

Fortunately, the U.K. government has already exposed these headlines as a lie, for those willing to take notice. On June 18, Public Health England published its 16th report on “SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern and variants under investigation in England,” this time grouping the variants by Greek letters.

      https://assets.zerohedge.com/s3fs-public/styles/inline_image_mobile/public/inline-images/table2.jpg

As you can see, the Delta variant has a 0.1% case fatality rate (CFR) out of 31,132 Delta sequence infections confirmed by investigators. That is the same rate as the flu and is much lower than the CFR for the ancestral strain or any of the other variants. And as we know, the CFR is always higher than the infection fatality rate (IFR), because many of the mildest and asymptomatic infections go undocumented, while the confirmed cases tend to have a bias toward those who are more evidently symptomatic.

In other words, Delta is literally the flu with a CFR identical to it. This is exactly what every respiratory pandemic has done through history: morphed into more transmissible and less virulent form that forces the other mutations out since you get that one. Nothing about masks, lockdowns, or experimental shots did this. To the extent this really is more transmissible, it’s going to be less deadly, as is the case with the common cold. To the extent that there are areas below the herd immunity threshold (for example, in Scotland and the northwestern parts of the U.K.) they will likely get the Delta variant (until something else supplants it), but fatalities will continue to go down.

According to the above-mentioned report, the Delta variant represented more than 75% of all cases in the U.K. since mid-May. If it really was that deadly, it should have been wreaking havoc over the past few weeks.

These are the countries best prepared for health emergencies

The Global Health Security Index lists the countries best prepared for an epidemic or pandemic.
National health security is fundamentally weak around the world, it says, and nowhere is fully prepared to handle such an outbreak.

Global biological risks are in many cases growing faster than governments and science can keep up.
The international community must work together to ensure all countries are prepared to respond to these risks, it says.

Two years ago the director general of the World Health Organization silenced the audience at the World Government Summit with the view that a devastating epidemic could start in any country at any time – and that the world would not be prepared.

Today, with the globe in the grip of coronavirus, those comments seem even more prescient.

The current outbreak is nowhere near the scale of the situation Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus described to leaders at the Dubai summit, in which as many as 100 million people could die. But it has brought one question into sharp focus: just how prepared are we for a pandemic?

Not enough, according to the Global Health Security Index, a report from the Nuclear Threat Initiative, the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security and the Economist Intelligence Unit released in October 2019.

The 195-country study finds national health security to be “fundamentally weak” around the world. No nation is fully prepared to handle an epidemic or pandemic, it says.

      Which countries are best prepared?

The report uses public information to assess each country’s ability to prevent, detect and respond to health emergencies. The index measures countries’ capabilities from 0-100, with 100 representing the highest level of preparedness.

      ===============================

On this scale, the US is the “most prepared” nation (scoring 83.5), with the UK (77.9), the Netherlands (75.6), Australia (75.5) and Canada (75.3) behind it. Thailand and South Korea are the only countries outside of the West that rank in this category.

Much of Europe, Russia, the Middle East, Asia and Central and South America are described as “more prepared,” with scores between 66 and 34.3, while the majority of countries ranked “least prepared” are in Africa. North Korea (17.5), Somalia (16.6) and Equatorial Guinea (16.2) are listed in the index’s bottom three.

China – which is at the centre of the recent coronavirus outbreak – is in 51st place, scoring 48.2.

Collectively, international preparedness is “very weak.” The index’s average overall score is 40.2, which rises to 51.9 for high-income countries – a situation the report describes as alarming.

So what can be done? The report emphasizes that health security is a collective responsibility.

It recommends governments commit to action to address health security risks, that every country’s health security capacity should be measured regularly and transparently, and that the international community works together to tackle biological threats, with a focus on financing and emergency response.

This kind of action will become even more necessary. The number and diversity of epidemic events has increased over the past 30 years, according to the World Economic Forum’s Global Health Security: Epidemics Readiness Accelerator.

The trend is expected to intensify. As globalization brings increasing trade, travel and population density, and as problems such as deforestation and climate change grow, we enter a new era in the risk of epidemic events, it says.

Stronger, unified responses to these threats – such as that displayed by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations when it moved to rapidly form partnerships to develop a vaccine for the novel coronavirus – will be of vital importance.

  14. Microsoft exec: Targeting of Americans’ records ‘routine’

WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal law enforcement agencies secretly seek the data of Microsoft customers thousands of times a year, according to congressional testimony being given Wednesday by a senior executive at the technology company.

Tom Burt, Microsoft’s corporate vice president for customer security and trust, will tell members of the House Judiciary Committee that federal law enforcement in recent years has been presenting the company with between 2,400 to 3,500 secrecy orders a year, or about seven to 10 a day.

“The fact that law enforcement requested, and courts approved, clandestine surveillance of so many Americans represents a sea change from historical norms,” Burt will say.

The relationship between law enforcement and Big Tech has attracted fresh scrutiny in recent weeks with the revelation that Justice Department prosecutors obtained as part of leak investigations phone records belonging not only to journalists but also to members of Congress and their staffers. Microsoft, for instance, was among the companies that turned over records under a court order, and because of a gag order, had to then wait more than two years before disclosing it.

Since then, Brad Smith, Microsoft’s president, called for an end to the overuse of secret gag orders, arguing in a Washington Post opinion piece that “prosecutors too often are exploiting technology to abuse our fundamental freedoms.” Attorney General Merrick Garland, meanwhile, has said the Justice Department will abandon its practice of seizing reporter records and will formalize that stance soon.

Burt is among the witnesses at a Judiciary Committee hearing about potential legislative solutions to intrusive leak investigations.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler said in opening remarks Wednesday that the Trump administration took advantage of outdated policies on digital data searches to target journalists and others in leak investigations. The New York Democrat said that reforms are needed now to guard against future overreach by Justice Department prosecutors.

“We cannot trust the department to police itself,” Nadler said.

Burt said that while the revelation that federal prosecutors had sought data about journalists and political figures “was shocking to many Americans,” the scope of surveillance is much broader.

“What may be most shocking,” he added, “is just how routine court-mandated secrecy has become when law enforcement targets Americans’ emails, text messages, and other sensitive data stored in the cloud.”

Burt said that while Microsoft Corp. does cooperate with law enforcement on a broad range of criminal and national security investigations, it often challenges surveillance that it sees as unnecessary, resulting at times in advance notice to the account being targeted.

As possible solutions, Burt said, the government should end indefinite secrecy orders and should also be required to notify the target of the data demand once the secrecy order has expired.

“Secrecy should be the rare exception, not the norm. Providing notice to an individual the government targets with a warrant or other demand for information is a critical protection against government overreach,” he said. “Safeguarding one’s constitutional rights requires knowledge that those rights are at risk. Without notice, an individual is left in the dark, unable to raise privileges or other objections that may be applicable, and unable to protect their rights in court.”

  16. Why the GOP Has to Resist the ‘Infrastructure’ and ‘Bipartisan’ Magical Thinking – Frontpagemag

Remembering what is none of the state’s business.

Bruce Thornton is a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center.

Last week the White House announced that the framework for a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill had been agreed upon by the President and several Republican Senators. Paeans to “bipartisanship” were sung by the DC establishment, although resistance from the Democrats’ extreme left caucus indicates a final bill may not be coming.

But more worrisome is the willingness of some Republicans to persist in thinking that the Dems really believe in give-and-take negotiations, rather than using them as a tactic for getting what they want. For too long the “bipartisan,” “reaching across the aisle” magical thinking has led Republicans into advancing Democrats’ big-government priorities. And given the urgency of turning back the most left-wing administration in American history, Republicans don’t need to be giving Dems any wins they can leverage during the 2022 midterm elections.

  18. US to finally allow self-ID for trans folk and ‘X’ gender markers in massive passport shake-up

US passports will now have an “X” option and enable trans Americans to self-identify on certain federal documents, the State Department said Wednesday (30 June).

The State Department, which issues passports, announced a pathway for trans, non-binary and intersex Americans to update gender-markers on their identification documents.

Trans Americans will be able to self-identify when it comes to applying for and updating both passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad in what amounts to the biggest shakeup in federal identification laws since 2010.

Antony Blinken is ‘committed’ to LGBT+ folk following self-ID passport shake-up
Trans passport-holders have long face an uphill climb to update their gender markers since president Barack Obama paved the way to do so. Department forms only offered “M” and “F” options and required applicants to provide a form of medical certification.

This need for certification typically required applicants to visit a physician and obtain a formal letter on the letterhead – for those living in rural areas, without health insurance or who are not open to their providers, this proved a huge problem.

But not for much longer, secretary of state Antony Blinken said in a press release.

The department will be “immediately […] updating our procedures to allow applicants to self-select their gender as ‘M’ or ‘F’ and will no longer require medical certification if an applicant’s self-selected gender does not match the gender on their other citizenship or identity documents”.

“The department has begun moving towards adding a gender marker for non-binary, intersex, and gender non-conforming persons applying for a passport or CRBA,” he added.

Blinken sought to stress that updating the department’s systems will “take time” and officials are “evaluating” the best route towards this.

In providing a third gender option and self-ID, the Biden administration will squash the challenges so many trans, non-binary and intersex passport-holders face when travelling while their gender markers do not accurately reflect who they are.

Blinken acknowledged this, noting that the department will work with interagency partners to “ensure as smooth a travel experience as possible for the passport holder”.

“In line with the administration’s commitment to re-engage with allies and partners, the department is taking these steps after considerable consultation with like-minded governments who have undertaken similar changes,” he continued.

“We also value our continued engagement with the LGBT+ community, which will inform our approach and positions moving forward.

“With this action, I express our enduring commitment to the LGBT+ community today and moving forward.”

The move makes good on a campaign promise from president Joe Biden and is the upshot of months of discussions between White House officials and LGBT+ advocacy groups. It also comes after a federal judge ordered the State Department to issue a gender-neutral passport to intersex Colorado navy veteran Dana Alix Zzyym in 2020.

Despite the court order, Zzyym had yet to receive the passport.

ACLU bosses said earlier this year that Biden remains “committed” to rolling out a gender-neutral option across all federal identification documents, such as social security cards and residence permits.

Activists argue that without such an option or self-ID, inaccurate identification can bar people from travelling, applying for jobs and even accessing the coronavirus vaccine.

The State Department’s policy shift will no doubt be a relief to the 42 per cent of transgender people who are eligible to vote in 45 American states that have inaccurate identification documents, according to a report from Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law.

But while federal ID documents are steadily being smoothened out by administration officials, at a state level, the US remains a patchwork of wildly varying policies.

Processes to change a driver’s licence or birth certificate, for example, can range from allowing trans people to update their documents or not at all, monitoring group National Center for Transgender Equality shows.

Even then, some activists, countries and international agencies, such as the United Nations, question whether there’s even a need for a gender marker on identity documents at all.

The New York City mayoral race has added a layer of confusion — and frustration for at least one candidate — after elections officials mistakenly tabulated about 135,000 test ballots that weren’t supposed to be counted.

Officials on Tuesday released the first updated count for the Democratic primary since the election a week ago. When they did, it showed that second-place candidate Kathryn Garcia had narrowed Eric Adams’ lead to about 16,000 votes.

Later, however, officials retracted the update and said the test ballots were never removed from the computer. They said they hoped to have a more accurate update in the race on Wednesday.

  26. CHILLING: China Discussed Bioweapons Targeting Specific Races
    Matt Margolis
    5-6 minutes

A new report alleges that China discussed how manmade viruses could be weaponized to target certain races.

The report comes from David Asher, who led the State Department’s investigation of the origins of COVID-19 before Joe Biden shut it down.

According to Asher, what China wrote in a declaration to The Seventh Review Conference of the Biological Weapons Convention at the United Nations office in Geneva “essentially laid out a road map of developments in biotechnology pertinent to the biological weapons convention that the Chinese indicated as particularly salient,” the Daily Wire reported.

“It wasn’t clear from their declaration whether this was for potential offensive use of synthetic biology and other techniques … but it certainly appears to lay out what they felt were going to be the drivers of a more potent offense in the future decade related to biotechnology,” Asher said. “This is probably the most disturbing thing to note that there could be a type of population-targeting or ethnic targeting using biology, according to the Chinese. That doesn’t mean they did it in the case of Covid-19 or anything else but it definitely implied that they were fully aware that this is feasible and possible.”
