Reader’s Links for June 6, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Recently the Bureau of International Settlements (BIS) announced that on June 28 non-allocated gold would no longer be permitted to be held by bullion banks. Unallocated (paper) precious metals is the mechanism by which gold and silver prices are suppressed, and by which fiat currencies are given false value.
    https://www.gata.org/

The question is why did the BIS make this world-changing announcement? Speculation is that Russia made what is the nuclear threat (in money terms) of introducing a gold-backed Ruble.

This change will accelerate the demise of fiat currencies and inflation. Look, also, for increasing frequency of cyberattacks blamed on Russia, crippling infrastructures. This “cyberpandemic” may be the next step in promoting Agenda 21/30 to reality.

  2. Distractions, pandemonium (sounds like a good name for a new entry on the periodic table) and other modes of control seem to be the chosen forms of cover for what may all be about the coming new monetary system. The plandemic will be, in the end, understood to have been a stepping stone to a new world monetary order along with its requisite new world reserve currency.

  3. Sky News host Rowan Dean says police in Victoria have crossed a “dangerous and scary line” by deciding in advance who is likely to commit a crime in the future.

Mr Dean said the “thuggery” of police, particularly in Victoria, during lockdowns was “chilling” and “shocked the free world”.

“Rather than China becoming more like us, are we becoming more like them?” he asked.

“It’s not only the excessive use of physical force, it is the excessive use of authoritarian power.

“The police, rather than protecting the citizens, have become an extension of the government of Victoria, protecting the bureaucrats and the politicians, in this case the Labor Party, from facing much-needed criticism and legitimate lawful protest.

“The Andrews government has used its political force to suppress legitimate debate and the freedom of the press.”

Mr Dean pointed to the way police handled Avi Yemini, a journalist for Rebel News.

He said Mr Yemini had the “right” and “professional duty” to cover Saturday’s demonstrations but received a visit from police the night before.

“Put aside the grotesque actions of a police commissioner having the power to decide which journalists may or may not attend an event, a totalitarian give away if ever there was one, but you know we have crossed a very dangerous and scary line when the police start deciding in advance who is likely to commit a crime in the future,” he said.

“It’s not quite as dramatic as the tank man with his plastic carrier bag standing up to the procession of communist tanks, but the principle, actually, is identical.

“The individual expressing his defiance of a brutal and oppressive state that has only one answer to dissent, and that is to crush it.”

“….I guess Victoria Police really didn’t like my last report that captured the excessive use of police resources against members of the Victorian community at Flagstaff Gardens. They are back at my family home tonight looking to intimidate me again, with another letter from Luke Cornelius. I’m really sick and tired of this tactic that is being employed against me by the Assistant Commissioner of Police. It’s offensive and disrespectful to target independent media. The police officer with the letter was even acting smart saying they may have served these letters to mainstream media as well. Victoria Police are out of control, and the government is backing them all the way.”

“There was an overwhelming police presence at the intersection of Flinders Street in Melbourne today, as a group of business owners gathered to voice their concerns about the situation for small businesses in Victoria. • Old news but exactly what the west deserves as it refuses to extract the minerals from the ores itself as it is too “dirty” and that is why China has such dominance there. It was obvious over a decade ago that this would become crucial but you can thank the green lobby and now the climate lunatics for painting the west into this corner.

In Oz China purchased the mining right to one of the best and most predictive rare mineral mines in the world and almost no one noticed it or commented.
      Shame upon the west!

OSINT on Iranian Ship Makran, Sailing To Venezuela

Flag Iran An Iranian Navy forward base ship, Makran, is believed to be transporting arms to Venezuela. I was able to break the arms aspect on USNI News. This piece complements that write-up by providing a few additional OSINT elements for reference.

The sinking of the Iranian Navy’s second largest warship, Kharg, may create an unintended smoke screen across the Makran affair. However defense watchers will remain focused on the larger ship. Most visible, and possibly consequential, of the arms are 7 missile boats.

Update: There have been rumors that, following the loss of Kharg, the I.R.I.N.S. Makran has been recalled to Iran. It will now complete a training mission to Russia.

Update 2: On June 4 a photo of Makran, before its trip to Venezuela, was shared on an Iranian Telegram channel. It clearly shows the Peykaap-III (Zolfaghar) missile boat. also visible are some of the anti-aircraft cannon added to the vessel.

IRIS Kharg before and after the June 1 Fire. Maxar Image used with permission

New satellite images released Thursday show the sunken hull of what earlier this week was one of Iran’s largest warship, IRIS Kharg an Ol-class replenishment oiler, caught fire on the evening of June 1.

The crew battled the fire with only 33 injured and no deaths but could not save the ship. In the end only the sea could extinguish the flames. Kharg burned for hours before slowly listing to starboard and sinking stern-first, within sight of the Iranian port of Jask, according to imagery provided to USNI News by Maxar.

The loss of Kharg, Iran’s only replenishment ship, created new challenges for the under-resourced Iranian Navy. The fleet oiler was an essential unit in Iranian ambitions to operate beyond the Middle East. For example, when Iranian warships sailed to the Mediterranean in 2011 Kharg was a key part of the group. In 2014, when Iran said that it was sending warships to the Atlantic, Kharg was present. While the Iranian surface group did not make good on Tehran’s promise to operate in the Gulf of Mexico, Kharg did give the Iranian Navy potential for much longer voyages.

Minneapolis saw an outbreak of unrest on Friday night, after a vigil and protests over the shooting death of a man by members of a U.S. Marshals task force devolved into chaotic scenes of looting, arson, and vandalism.

The second night of protests followed Thursday’s fatal shooting of 32-year-old Winston Boogie Smith Jr., who was wanted on a weapons violation and fired a gun before two deputies shot him.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force were trying to arrest Smith on a warrant for allegedly being a felon in possession of a gun, according to authorities. The Marshals Service said in a statement Thursday that Smith, who was in a parked vehicle, didn’t comply with law enforcement and “produced a handgun resulting in task force members firing upon the subject.”

Family and friends of Smith Jr. spoke at a vigil on Friday at the location of the fatal shooting, with video from the scene showing an unidentified man calling for “justice” and for the crowd to “say his name.”

No sooner had President Biden’s appeasement squad been deployed than Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the cleric heading Iran’s regime, ended almost four years of relative self-restraint by trying to revive the embers of several conflicts into blazing flames. Pictured: Iran’s “Supreme Guide,” Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. (Image source: khameni.ir/Wikimedia Commons)

Last February, when the new Biden administration launched its promised bid for a revival of the Obama “nuclear deal” with the Islamic Republic, apologists described it as an attempt at preventing another Middle Eastern war. This echoed the old mantra that in dealing with the Khomeinist regime, the choice is between appeasement and full-scale war.

Adepts of that mantra have failed to understand that in dealing with the mullahs it is appeasement that encourages war.

Thus, no sooner had President Biden’s appeasement squad been deployed than Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the cleric heading the Khomeinist regime, ended almost four years of relative self-restraint by trying to revive the embers of several conflicts into blazing flames.

  18. europravada -HUNGARY – Crowds in Budapest rally against Chinese university campus plan

The Fudan University campus is being built with a €1.3 billion loan from China despite local opposition.

    • Deutsche Pravda – Anger grows in Hungary over China’s university plans in Budapest

A new partnership between Beijing and Budapest has angered Hungarian taxpayers who will have to carry the nearly one billion euro financial burden.

China is building a European campus of its Shanghai-based Fudan University. Not only are Hungarians to pick up the tab, but no local contractors will get to work on the project. Most Hungarians oppose the plan, and anger is growing against Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Thousands have taken to the streets of the capital to protest their government’s cooperation with an authoritarian regime.

Initially the plan was to build affordable dorms, especially for people from Hungary’s rural areas.
The ground has been broken for various projects – including a new athletic stadium. But the government is also allowing China to build the very first European campus of the Shanghai based Fudan University on the site.

According to government documents obtained by the Hungarian investigative media outlet “Direkt36,” the Chinese campus will be financed by a 1.3 billion Euro loan, paid for by Hungarian taxpayers.

The journalist behind the report sees other worrying implications for the project. Szabolcs Panyi says Hungary’s intensifying ties with China create a friendly environment for Chinese intelligence.
During various visits with his Chinese counterparts over the past decade, Prime Minister Viktor Orban has been openly pursuing an “Eastern Opening strategy” in the hopes of attracting Chinese investment

At the beginning of the COVID pandemic Orban personally inspected tons of protective equipment that had arrived at the Budapest airport from China. Hungary is also the only country in the EU to inoculate its citizens with the Chinese COVID vaccine. And it recently vetoed an EU joint statement expressing concern over China’s tightening control over Hong Kong.

So, who really benefits from this relationship?

The campus will be built using Chinese labor and building material shipped in from China.
And not everyone in Hungary is a fan of the Eastern Opening strategy: Budapest’s mayor Gergely Karacsony is a key opponent of Orban. He has been showing his opposition to what he calls “Chinese influence buying” in his own special way: Four streets near the planned Chinese construction site have recently been renamed. Students at the new campus may have to take “Free Hong Kong Road” or “Dalai Lama Road” to get to class.

      • Strong and healthy democracy.

Reenactment of Pickett’s Charge (Image: Wikipedia)

One of the most stirring moments in Ken Burns’s excellent documentary on the Civil War was his treatment of the 1913 reunion at Gettysburg. A reenactment of Pickett’s Charge, the bloodiest battle of the war, was staged in which the boys who had clashed in mortal combat 50 years earlier, now old men, rushed at one another as best they could. But this time when the former Confederate troops met the former Union troops on the battlefield, they came not with fixed bayonets but with open arms to embrace their “opponents.”

The grainy black-and-white footage of the meeting, which left a lump in this viewer’s throat, revealed more about the Civil War and its aftermath than any monument or history book. The war had been fought not by soldiers but by flesh-and-blood men (children in many cases) who had come to understand more about life and death than most of us will ever fathom.

    3-4 minutes

Staff members at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee are concerned that continuing to talk about former President Donald Trump and his impeachment will backfire on Democratic candidates in the 2022 midterm elections, according to an internal email.

The DCCC, which is in charge of protecting and expanding the Democrats’ House majority, issued a press release on Friday morning criticising Rep. Michelle Steel (R-Calif.) and her “top 10 failings” in Congress. Her decision not to impeach Trump for his part in inciting the Capitol riot on Jan. 6 was one of them.

However, the DCCC included an email conversation between workers discussing document edits at the bottom of the news release by accident. “Do we think highlighting her vote not to impeach trump is helpful?” one staffer wrote. “In midterm with him out of WH, not sure how much we want to keep highlighting him and give the Trump base a reason to turnout,” the mail said. Staffers eventually chose to keep the impeachment phrase in the press release.

Newspaper publisher Gannett is fighting an effort by the FBI to try to determine who read a specific USA Today story about a deadly shooting in February near Fort Lauderdale, Fla., that left two FBI agents dead and three wounded.

The subpoena, served on Gannett in April, seeks information about who accessed the news article online during a 35-minute window starting just after 8 p.m. on the day of the shootings. The demand — signed by a senior FBI agent in Maryland — does not appear to ask for the names of those who read the story, if the news outlet has such information. Instead, the subpoena seeks internet addresses and mobile phone information that could lead to the identities of the readers.

  25. Face to Face With Dr. Fauci – The Truth Is…”It’s Almost Over”

This week I traveled to Washington DC to interview Dr. Anthony Fauci, physician, scientist, immunologist and Director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infection Diseases (NIAID), as well as chief medical advisor for the President of the United States.

We discussed all-things COVID-19. I was lucky enough to speak to Dr. Fauci last year via Zoom at the beginning of the pandemic.

This time around, I was so thrilled to sit face to face with the man, maskless, thanks to the fact that we are both fully vaccinated.

We dove in deep on a bunch of subjects such as the effect of COVID and vaccines on children, herd immunity, natural immunity, some of his previous statements, and the future of masks.

Do you part to end the pandemic and get back to normal life but getting your Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson and Johnson vaccine ASAP!

  26. June 4 2021 EU looked at ‘importing 70 million Africans’ by 2035, says German MEP Gunnar Beck, denouncing ‘disastrous’ new migration pact

A leading figure in Alternative for Germany, tipped for victory in a German election this week, Gunnar Beck is attacking the EU’s ‘deeply dangerous’ migration pact before it’s enacted under cover of a feelgood summer.
As Germany’s ‘super election year’ focuses on the state of Saxony-Anhalt this Sunday, the disruptors in the nation’s biggest opposition party, Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), are poised for a shock win as its anti-immigration message resonates in the heartlands of former East Germany.

Sitting top of the most recent INSA opinion poll with 26% and having just announced its two lead candidates for September’s federal elections – both supporters of a hard line on immigration – AfD is not about to soften its message.
Senior AfD figure and Euro MP Gunnar Beck said a strong election result would prove a useful weapon in his party’s battle against the European Union’s controversial proposed Pact on Migration and Asylum that looks to enlist its members in a centrally-run redistribution of asylum seekers across the bloc.

“I have myself been working on the EU migration pact for some time and for me the enactment of such a pact would be disastrous,” Beck told RT.com. “Because the EU not too long ago was talking about importing up to 70 million Africans into Europe by 2035. In my humble opinion this is not what we need to modernise our economy.

“And while the figure seems high, when the members of our migration pact campaign – including delegates from Denmark, Estonia, France and Belgium – met with the Commission just last year, that migration figure was brought up but no one at the Commission chose to deny it. “

That suggestion of actively encouraging inward migration to the EU has been floating around Brussels for a while, as governments across the bloc look at ways to address the phenomenon known as the ‘greying of Europe’ where ageing populations aged 65 or older and low birthrates pose ‘considerable social, economic and political challenges in countries such as Germany and Italy’ according to the Pew Research Center, a Washington-based think tank.
Some politicians, such as former European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker believe an influx of younger workers from Africa is the solution.

Meanwhile, the migration pact currently appears stuck in parliamentary committees, the received wisdom is that it’s being deliberately stalled until the outcome of the German federal elections is known in September.

Beck suggests an alternative reason for the unusual delay.

“It’s not gone through all the committees in the European Parliament and the negotiations of the Council [of Europe] haven’t started but I think the EU would like to push the legislation through from July onwards,” he said.

“Now that all the countries are phasing out the lockdown and people are generally feeling better about themselves and able to leave their homes again. So the possibility is that they’ll try to use the general feelgood atmosphere – summer combined with corona relaxations – to push ahead with this deeply dangerous legislative package,” Beck said.

And maybe Beck’s right. Because the European Parliament’s final plenary session is early July and then it doesn’t sit again until mid-September. If the pact proposals are put to MEPs in July and inevitably passed, there is plenty of time for it to lose its sting over the extended summer break. It will be just like it was there all the time.

That should play well for AfD in the federal elections, which are slated for September 22, but Beck is not so sure.

“It’s possible that migration will become an important issue in the federal election,” he said. “And the EU migration pact to those of us in the EU delegation is an important campaign but whether that can be turned into an election campaign is a different story.”

Nevertheless, a win on Sunday for AfD would indicate that despite a huge surge in Green Party popularity nationwide, Germans are interested in more than climate change, particularly in states such as Saxony-Anhalt, home to one of Germany’s three main coal mines. A recent poll there found that climate change was considered important by just 6% of respondents, whereas a national survey found 75% of folk were concerned for the planet.
Observers liken the voters of Saxony-Anhalt – which has a population of 2.2million – to those ‘left-behinds’ who Donald Trump wooed, and the so-called ‘Red Wall’ voters in the UK who felt their traditional party no longer represented them. Beck agrees.

“The election this week will probably be the first time that we become the strongest single party and that will be a huge success,” he said. “There’s widespread dissatisfaction in east Germany about the state of politics in this country and that dissatisfaction can translate very frictionlessly into increasing support for the AfD because our party is not stigmatised there. In west Germany it’s distinctly more difficult there. The campaign to stigmatise us has been more successful and some of the other parties profit from that dissatisfaction. But not us.”

Those efforts to discredit a party, which would most likely sit alongside the Conservative right in the UK, take a huge electoral toll. Despite coalitions being commonplace in Germany, no one dares buddy-up with AfD.

So, despite topping last week’s poll in Saxony-Anhalt, even if AfD wins the greatest vote share on Sunday, it will be relegated to the opposition benches, thanks to a cosy three-party so-called ‘Kenya’ coalition agreement between the Greens, Social Democrats and Christian Democrats, nicknamed as such because their respective party colours of green, red and black echo the African nation’s flag.
But an AfD victory will have some impact. It would prove no small embarrassment to the ruling establishment, particularly the CDU, who will be facing September’s elections without Angela Merkel and face their own internal battles as some members urge a tilt towards the right under the leadership of charisma-free Armin Laschet.

At least for the time being, however, AfD will take the win and, while it will irk the party to be denied the seat of power, at least its supporters can be sure that they are making a difference.
