Reader’s Links for May 30, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

    • The suns is still rising every day. You do not live under Stalin or Mao et al. Enjoy life more by putring uplifting works in your life. This one is needlessly negative. It reduces to a glorious thought: we are unqiue in being made in God’s image, but some powerful people prefer we think otherwise.

      • Thank you Malca. You are very right. Now is the time to try to stay on the sunny side, and I don’t mind being reminded one bit.

Freedom isn’t free, you freedom was bought with the lives of the brave, those who thought that freedom for all in our nations was worth the risk of their own lives. We are once again faced with the evil people of the world trying to enslave us, the goals of the evil ones hasn’t changed, the only thing that has changed is the tools they are using. Once again we must stand up and be counted in order to preserve our freedom, once again we must prove that we are worthy descendants of the people who bleed and died to give us our freedom, we must fight and possibly die to give the future generations the freedom we use to enjoy.

Testing for the coronavirus has become a multi-billion dollar business globally.

In Germany, a whole industry of private test centers has sprung up in recent weeks.

They’re free for the public, but the federal government pays for each test.

Now German media are reporting on allegations of widespread fraud in testing centers.

Some have been accused of billing the government for tests that never occurred.

Millions of euros have been paid to testing centers, with little control or oversight over their operations.

    • DEUTSCHE PRAVDA – COVID comes to Taiwan: Two words kill BioNTech deal

Taiwan’s health minister has revealed that two words scuppered a deal for millions of COVID 19 vaccines with Germany’s BioNTech.

Chen Shih-Chung says the company requested Taiwan drop the words ‘our country’ from a joint press release set for January the 8th.

He said his government agreed to change the wording to just ‘Taiwan’ the same day.

But a week later, BioNTech put the agreement on hold due to a ‘re-evaluation of global vaccine supply and adjusted timelines.’

This explanation comes a day after President Tsai Ing-wen directly accused China of blocking Taiwan’s deal with BioNTech.

In response to her statement, BioNTech told News Asia:

“We do not provide information on any potential or possible distribution of our vaccine.

Our goal at BioNTech is to make the vaccine available to as many people worldwide as possible.”

Meanwhile, only about 1 percent of Taiwan’s population has received a vaccination.

And there’s a growing sense of alarm as the island faces its biggest COVID-19 outbreak yet, after months of keeping the pandemic well under control.

The government has ordered a lockdown to curb infections.

It’s something many on the island thought they would never see.

After more than a year of relative safety, Taiwan is battling its first major domestic outbreak, reporting hundreds of local cases daily.

It’s believed that airline pilots brought the U.K. variant to the island last month after quarantine was shortened to just 3 days for crew members.

The spread was then accelerated through a network of tea houses in Taipei’s red light district.

The authorities have declared a nationwide Level 3 alert, meaning a soft lockdown.

Public events are called off. Many shops are closed and restaurants can only do takeout.

The shopping district in Taipei is virtually a ghost town, while dozens of people queue up for COVID tests at various sites.

Hospitals in Greater Taipei are running out of beds and patients will now be sent to other parts of the country for treatment.

The authorities have also taken over hotels to accommodate those with light or no symptoms.

So far, Taiwan has only vaccinated around 1% of its 24 million people.

Most Taiwanese had been vaccine hesitant before the local outbreak.

10 million doses of vaccines will arrive by August.

But until then, the island is likely to remain under soft lockdown.

Do not be complacent in the face of a pandemic.

It is a lesson learned for Taiwanese.

The students marched carrying placards and banners agreeing to return to classes but only if immunized, rejecting a return to schools without the vaccine.

The students are demanding that at least 70 percent of the population be vaccinated before students return to the classroom.

    • WSJ – Employers Can Require Covid-19 Vaccine Under Federal Law, New Guidance States

Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says federal laws don’t prevent an employer from requiring workers to be inoculated

U.S. employers could require all workers physically entering a workplace to be vaccinated against Covid-19, the federal government said Friday.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission issued updated guidance stating that federal laws don’t prevent an employer from requiring workers to be vaccinated.

However, in some circumstances, federal laws may require the employer to provide reasonable accommodations for employees who, because of a disability or a religious belief, aren’t vaccinated. For example, the EEOC said as a reasonable accommodation, an unvaccinated employee entering the workplace might wear a face mask, work at a social distance or be given the opportunity to telework.

The new guidelines also say that federal laws don’t prevent or limit incentives that can be offered to workers to voluntarily take the vaccine. And employers that are administering vaccines to their employees may also offer incentives, as long as the incentives aren’t coercive.

The updated guidance is intended to answer frequently asked questions, EEOC Chairwoman Charlotte Burrows said in a statement. She said the agency will continue to update and clarify its assistance for employers.

The commission is an independent, bipartisan agency that enforces workplace civil-rights laws. The five-person body is led by Ms. Burrows, a Democrat whom President Biden elevated to the top position. It also includes three Republican members nominated by former President Donald Trump.

Some employers have offered bonuses to workers who take the shot. For example, retailer Dollar General Corp. is offering four hours of pay to those who take the shot, and Bolthouse Farms, a maker of juices and salad dressings, said it would pay $500 to full-time hourly workers who get Covid-19 vaccine. Retailer Trader Joe’s, delivery service Instacart Inc. and meat producers Pilgrim’s Pride Corp. and JBS USA Holdings Inc. said they would give vaccine incentives.

JBS USA, the biggest U.S. beef processor, and Pilgrim’s Pride, a top poultry supplier, won’t require plant workers to get the vaccine, a spokesman for the companies said. A Bolthouse Farms spokesman said the company didn’t have plans to mandate vaccinations. Dollar General, Trader Joe’s and Instacart Inc. didn’t respond to requests for comment Friday.

Keira Lombardo, chief administrative officer for Smithfield Foods Inc., said the pork giant is making vaccines available for plant workers but isn’t requiring them at this time.

The EEOC said employers may provide employees and their family members information about the benefits of vaccines and how to obtain them. It noted the vaccines are available free of charge.

The guidance comes at a time when more employees are returning to work sites, and separate federal agencies have said mask wearing isn’t required for vaccinated individuals.

Edwin Egee, vice president for government relations and workforce development at the National Retail Federation, said he didn’t know of any NRF members that had mandated vaccines, and he didn’t expect that to change much, if at all, based on the EEOC guidance. Instead, he expects the guidance to help employers encourage workers to get vaccinated.

“A lot of them have already done it in the absence of guidance, but today’s guidance clearly gives them legal clarity to go forward,” he said.

The EEOC, on its website, said it has received many inquiries about vaccine requirements, including concerns that the three vaccines used in the U.S.—from Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, and Pfizer -BioNTech—were granted emergency use authorizations as opposed to fuller approvals. The agency said decisions around whether the level of authorization creates a legal issue is “beyond the EEOC’s jurisdiction.”

The agency added that “because some individuals or demographic groups may face greater barriers to receiving a Covid-19 vaccination than others, some employees may be more likely to be negatively impacted by a vaccination requirement.”

The EEOC noted that it would be unlawful to apply a vaccination requirement in a way that treats employees differently based on disability, race, color, religion, sex, national origin or age. It also stated that state and local laws may also govern vaccination requirements.

Marc Freedman, vice president of employment policy at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, said the guidance should also help ease individuals’ fears about returning to the workplace.

“To the extent that employees are concerned that coming back to the workplace will put them at risk of getting Covid-19, anything that helps an employer get more employees vaccinated will help make the case that the workplace is safe,” Mr. Freedman said.

Mr. Freedman was pleased the EEOC had clarified that employers can offer vaccination incentives without confronting legal issues. But, he said, the EEOC’s guidance also said that incentives are acceptable as long as they aren’t “coercive”—a term whose meaning, Mr. Freedman said, wasn’t clear.

That could “expose employers to challenges from employees who don’t wish to be vaccinated.”

Many employers are reporting difficulty hiring workers for open positions. Whether the vaccine guideline will impact that labor shortage depends on how many employers require vaccinations, and how much unvaccinated workers mind it if they do, said Adam Ozimek, a labor economist at Upwork Inc., a platform that connects businesses and workers for freelance projects.

A lack of available workers could make employers in certain sectors hesitant to make vaccine demands, and also could make workers confident in finding another job if they don’t like the requirement, he said. But he added the most important impact, for the economy more broadly, “would be if employers require vaccines and this helps to get more people vaccinated, because that would help end the pandemic faster.”

  9. Jordan Peterson Demands for Conservatives to ‘Sacrifice Trump and Stolen Election’ Concerns

Best-selling author and classical liberal philosopher Jordan Peterson is demanding for conservatives to “sacrifice Trump and the stolen election narrative” moving forward.

Peterson made the suggestion in a Twitter post calling for unity between the Left and the Right.

He said that conservatives must sacrifice Trump and tolerate election fraud, and liberals must sacrifice “DIE and CRT” in order for a middle ground to be established.

The tweet can be seen here:

    https://bigleaguepolitics.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/img_20210529_121207_383.jpg

Even though Peterson has advertised himself as a defender of Western thought, his globalist connections have caused many to doubt his authenticity.

Peterson once helped draft The Report of the United Nations Secretary-General’s High-Level Panel On Global Sustainability at the behest of the United Nations in 2013. He was joined by Obama-gate villain Susan E. Rice and other high-level globalists in drafting the report.

“The universal human rights and fundamental freedoms of migrants must be respected. These migrants make a positive economic contribution to their host countries, by building up their labour force,” the report read.

During a 2016 podcast appearance shortly before he would explode on the public scene, Peterson explained even more troubling connections that he has with Big Tech and the corporate elite.

“I do executive coaching, mostly for senior partners of big law firms. I run a testing business for the world’s biggest early-stage technology incubator in California, called the Founder Institute,” he said.

Peterson was also a guest of honor in 2018 for the infamous Trilateral Commission, which has been frequently described as a cabal of the ruling class. They produced video of some of Peterson’s remarks after their conference:

Big League Politics has reported on Peterson’s major health problems in recent years as he became dependent on pills:

“Classically liberal philosopher Jordan Peterson currently has the COVID-19 Chinavirus, according to his daughter Mikhaila, but he is expected to recover from the ailment.

Mikhaila Peterson made the announcement during a recent podcast. Her father has been recovering from a variety of ailments recently, which has stopped him from being in the public eye as Western Civilization quite literally goes up in flames.

“He was put on a whole bunch of, kind of preemptively, he was put on anti-virals and things,” Mikhaila Peterson said.

“I don’t know if that was necessary, because his symptoms weren’t that bad — he didn’t have a cough, he had a mild fever, but they just put him on everything,” she added.

Mikhaila said that Peterson is suffering his second bout with pneumonia in this year alone, as his health takes a turn for the worst.

“And so now we’ve had a step back in his recovery. Life is just not good, things are not good right now,” she said.

Despite her father’s many health issues, she believes he will make a full recovery and the family will be able to make it out of this severe rough patch.

“He’ll get better, but he’s definitely taken a step back and it’s just really unfortunate… it’s been a disaster,” she said.”

In the past, Peterson called for Brett Kavanaugh to be disavowed because of liberal outrage. This enigmatic individual may not be what he bills himself to be, and Peterson’s deep globalist ties should arouse skepticism about his actual motives.

The Arizona Senate is mulling an expansion of the 2020 election audit taking place in Maricopa County.

Senators are considering hiring a California-based nonprofit to analyze ballot images to create a third set of numbers to compare with the tabulation from Dominion Voting Systems machines and the hand recount being done by Cyber Ninjas, a Florida-based firm in charge of the current audit.

  11. Deutsche Pravda – Danish secret service helped US spy on Germany’s Angela Merkel: report

Denmark’s complicity in the NSA spying scandal against German politicians has been revealed in a joint European media investigation.

Denmark’s secret service helped the US National Security Agency (NSA) to spy on European leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, a European media investigation published on Sunday revealed.

The disclosure that the US had been spying on its allies first started coming to light in 2013, but it is only now that journalists have gained access to reports detailing the support given to the NSA by the Danish Defense Intelligence Service (FE).

The report showed that Germany’s close ally and neighbor cooperated with US spying operations that targeted the chancellor and president.

The then chancellor candidate for the German center-left socialist party (SPD), Peer Steinbrück, was also a target, the new report disclosed.

Secret service sources passed on the information to a team including Danish, Swedish and Norwegian broadcasters (DR, SVT and NRK respectively), as well as the French newspaper Le Monde, German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung and German public broadcasters NDR and WDR.

    How did German officials react?
Steinbrück spoke to the German members of the research team upon finding out about the spying operations against him.

“Politically, I consider this a scandal,” he said. While he accepted that western states require functioning intelligence services, the fact that Danish authorities had been spying on their partners showed “that they are rather doing things on their own.”

Neither Merkel nor Steinmeier had “any knowledge” of the spying operations carried out by leading Danish government officials. A spokesperson said that the chancellor had been informed of the revelations.

How was the Danish government involved?

The Danish government knew of the involvement of their country’s secret service in the NSA scandal by 2015 at the latest.

They began to collect information on the FE’s cooperation with the NSA between 2012 and 2014 in the secret Dunhammer report following the disclosures by the former NSA employee and whistleblower Edward Snowden, NDR reported.

The information they gathered made it clear that the FE had helped the NSA to spy on leading politicians in Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands and France, as well as Germany.

Danish intelligence also helped the US agency to spy on the Danish foreign and finance ministries as well as a Danish weapons manufacturer. The FE also cooperated with the NSA on spying operations AGAINST THE US GOVERNMENT ITSELF.

Upon discovering exactly how far the cooperation between the two countries’ intelligence services went, the Danish government forced the entire leadership of the FE to step down in 2020.

What drove Danish spies to help the NSA?

A Danish expert in secret service operations Thomas Wegener Friis believes that the FE was faced with a choice about which global partners to work more closely with.

“They made a clear decision to work with the Americans and against their European partners,” he told NDR.

Patrick Sensburg, who led the German parliamentary committee to investigate the NSA spying scandal, was not surprised by the news. For the lawmaker from Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU), it is important to understand what drives secret services.

“It’s not about friendships. It’s not about moral-ethical aspirations. It’s about pursuing interests,” he told NDR.

The NSA, FE and Danish defense ministry did not respond to requests for comment on the research, however, a general statement from the defense ministry said that “a systematic bugging of close allies is unacceptable.”

  12. Deutsche Pravda – China’s competition for living space

More than 60 percent of China’s population of 1.4 billion currently lives in cities.

Within a decade, the share of urban dwellers is expected to increase to 75 percent.

Construction is booming and competition for residential land is fierce.

But the right to live in a city in China is conditional.

Authorities want their modern cities to be peopled with well-educated, highly-qualified or politically well-connected residents.

As a result, certain standards have to be met to be eligible for a modern, urban home.

Only members of China’s political classes and the financially successful have a hope of qualifying.
Yet more than half of the people who live in cities are so-called “migrant workers.”

They come from rural communities and have no official rights to settle in cities.

    They are there to work.

With no proper rights, they are merely tolerated while they serve as merchants, servants, waitstaff, cleaners, construction workers and tradespeople.

But while they are indispensible to daily life in the cities, they are unable to afford their exorbitant rents.

This documentary looks at how and where these workers live, and asks whether middle and working class Chinese even figure in the official vision of shiny, high-tech cities.

The filmmakers also look at what happens to those who oppose official plans, or stand in the way of the building boom.

“Hindus have been at the receiving end of barbaric violence, massacre, rape and demolition of ancient temples by Islamic invaders in Bharat since the 7th century. Every barbaric Islamic invader from Muhammad bin Qasim to Aurangzeb has used terrorism as a tool to convert people to Islam in hordes. Even in independent India, Hindus have been wiped out of Kashmir and are being continuously hounded out from areas where Muslims are in majority. The inspiration for all Islamists for the past 1400 years since the inception of Islam has been the Quran and Sunnahs.

In this background, instead of giving out mealy mouthed politically correct statements which only gives rise to increasing Islamo-Fascism, Waseem Rizvi has addressed the main cause of terrorism boldly. He has been targeted with several FIRs, death threats and beheadings brazenly by Islamic leaders in India, many of them hailing from national political parties. ”

    • “Surprisingly, instead of welcoming Waseem Rizvi’s petition in the Supreme Court to examine these controversial 26 verses and its import on increasing Islamist terror and violence, the Supreme Court bench headed by controversial Justice Rohinton Nariman dismissed Rizvi’s petition summarily and even imposed fine of Rs.50,000.”

      Surprisingly, eh?
