Reader’s Links for April 30, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. WebMd is an accredited website, FDA-approved.

I swear to God, I looked at the video for one solid week, day after day, and suddenly two days ago it changed.

Before, I had to scroll down and downer to find it. And now, it’s at the top of the list of the category.

What I saw for one solid week, day after day and I looked sometimes twice a day, and I regret not sending it, was the image in the video of the top of an inside arm muscle covered with spikes.

    https://www.webmd.com/vaccines/covid-19-vaccine/video/video-covid-mrna-vaccine

    • It’s in the section of Covid-19 vaccine – Videos.

When VLAD mentioned Muscle Degeneration, I thought about that and looked at the video again.

And I thought of how hard our immune system is disoriented by the vaccine with so many spikes on muscle cells.

And now, they changed the video. UPSET LIKE HELL.

    • In the video, the post-jab image of the arm muscle newly covered with spikes appeared around the 2-minute mark. The idea was to show how our muscle cells react to the jab by reproducing spikes.

And, in truth, the change in the video occurred today because I looked at it yesterday morning. And I also looked at the transcript but you can’t copy the transcript and that is why I didn’t send it.

There are things in life you don’t forget. That image is one of them.

  3. Conrad Black’s opinion of Biden’s State of the Union address:

    https://nationalinterest.org/blog/politics/joe-biden%E2%80%99s-speech-was-declaration-war-america-183962

We are witnessing the demolition of history’s greatest nation. This said, I believe it will save itself precisely because it is history’s greatest nation. No communist movement is smart enough or strong enough to eradicate the truth of freedom as it is written in this nation’s DNA.

  4. Last week I got a call from one of my kid’s teachers warning me he had used troublesome language.

He was in a group chat on-line with other students. They were talking music. My boy said he “hated” the two musical groups they were talking about. The word “hate” in this context is the simple, common figure of speech that also sees it used in sentences such as, “I hate the taste of coconut.” For this he was reported to a teacher as guilty of being homophobic and white supremacist. The teacher told him he could not use the word “hate” in this way.

I told him he had better choose his words more carefully in the future to avoid trouble. He replied he knew what words he had used and that he is fed up. I can’t say I blame him.

Open season on common sense. Particularly when it comes from the religious:

  5. This video is being disseminated by my own professional association for the purpose of clarification. What would be interesting is to compare the efficacy of the virus and its variants to not maim or kill you (which I understand is an odd use of the word efficacy) with the “vaccines'” abilities to accomplish the same. This is unknowable at this early stage in the use of the injections. However, given the compelling testimony of various legitimate experts posted on this site expressing their concerns, I believe this will become a seminal question in the future.

AP fact check of Biden’s address to joint session of Congress is brutal

No tapioca for the Associated Press at Joe Biden’s first state dinner!

The news agency’s fact check of his quasi-State of the Union address last night opened with the charge that the president “gave a distorted account of the historical forces driving migrants to the U.S. border, glossing over the multitudes who were desperate to escape poverty in their homelands when he was vice president,” and it was all downhill from there: “Unsubstantiated claim,” the wire service declared at one point. “Wishful thinking,” they wrote at another “That’s a real stretch,” they observed at yet another juncture. Biden likely hasn’t seen that many red X’s in one place since the last time he got back an exam in law school.

Each time Biden told a lie, which was fairly often, the wire service would hit the buzzer.

  9. CBC -MPP Randy Hillier charged after organizing Kemptville anti-lockdown rally

Dozens showed up at South Branch Bistro in Kemptville, Ont., on April 8

Ontario Provincial Police have charged independent MPP Randy Hillier for his role in an anti-lockdown rally last month that drew dozens of people to a restaurant in Kemptville, Ont.

Hillier was one of four people charged Thursday for defying COVID-19 restrictions at the South Branch Bistro on April 8, 2021.

Police identified Hillier, the MPP for Lanark–Frontenac–Kingston and a vocal opponent of the province’s COVID-19 rules, as an organizer of the rally.

The other three people charged with violating the Reopening Ontario Act were two of Hillier’s sons and his daughter, Const. Dave Holmes told CBC.

The restaurant — which has since had its liquor licence suspended by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) — was also charged, OPP said.

Charged earlier for attending church service

Officials who showed up to the “No More Lockdown” rally found people drinking alcohol inside the restaurant, on its patio and in the parking lot, the AGCO said at the time.

They also saw patrons who weren’t observing physical distancing rules or wearing masks, including children and South Branch Bistro staff.

When AGCO officials returned the next day, they found liquor was again being served on the patio.

The charges against Hillier come the same week he was charged with attending a large religious service at the Church of God Restoration in Aylmer, Ont., where hundreds gathered Sunday without wearing masks or physical distancing.

In a statement posted to Facebook Thursday afternoon and shared with CBC, Hillier accused Premier Doug Ford of attempting to “arrest political opposition and dissent.”

“[People] do not need to be afraid of charges and tickets like these, they will not hold up in court, and I am confident the courts will nullify all of Doug Ford’s unlawful charges,” Hillier wrote.

Hillier is scheduled to appear in court in Brockville, Ont., on June 24 in connection with the Kemptville rally.

Additional charges could still be laid against other people who were there, OPP said.

MONTREAL — Quebec is redirecting people from the mass vaccination site at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday because of a planned protest in the area against COVID-19 health orders.

Health Minister Christian Dubé said today on Twitter appointments have been transferred to other clinics in the city.

Dubé says the other clinics had the capacity to honour appointments scheduled at the stadium but is deploring the fact protesters are choosing to demonstrate outside the mass vaccination site.

The protest is being organized online by a group calling itself Québec Debout (Quebec standing up). It calls the public health orders imposed in the province “excessive and unjustified.”

Protests are planned in Montreal and several other Quebec towns, according to the group’s Facebook page.

Dubé says the government respects the right to demonstrate but vaccination is a priority.

“People have a right to their opinion, but I think they could have left those who are getting vaccinated alone,” Dubé told TVA network in an interview today.

ctv news – ‘Extremely unfortunate’: vaccination appointments moved due to protest planned at Montreal’s Olympic Stadium

MONTREAL — Dozens of vaccination appointments are being rescheduled and moved to other clinics Saturday due to a protest being planned at the Oympic Stadium in Montreal.

The regional health authority said approximately 50 appointments are being moved to the morning at the Big O, one of the city’s largest vaccination sites.

According to a Facebook event, the “Quebec Debout” group is organizing a demonstration at noon at the stadium. A press release from the groups claims thousands of people are expected to “make history” in a protest against public health measures in the province that are aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19.

The Montreal protest is one of several planned for May 1 throughout Quebc.

On Friday, Quebec’s health minister, Christian Dube, said it was “extremely unfortunate” that appointments will have to be moved to other clinics to accommodate the people who are being affected.

On Thursday, Quebec announced it is opening up its mass vaccination campaign to the general public in a gradual roll-out in the coming weeks.

MONTREAL GAZETTE – Vaccinations at Big O Saturday reshuffled to avoid lockdown protest

“People are allowed to have their opinions but I think they could have left people getting vaccinated alone,” says Health Minister Christian Dubé.

Roughly 50 vaccination appointments taken for Saturday at the Olympic Stadium have been reshuffled because of a planned protest against public health measures.

In an interview on TVA Friday morning, Quebec Health Minister Christian Dubé said the decision was taken to avoid any possible confrontations.

“I find it unfortunate, because what we need is to vaccinate people,” Dubé said. “People are allowed to have their opinions but I think they could have left people getting vaccinated alone.”

The Olympic Stadium’s atrium has served as a mass vaccination site since Quebec opened the campaign to the general public.

The local health authority that oversees the site, the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, said it moved about 50 afternoon appointments to the morning in order to avoid the protest, which is planned for noon.

People who had booked appointments were contacted about the change earlier this week, a spokesperson said, and a few were also asked to receive their vaccine at two nearby clinics instead.

The health board also stopped booking appointments for Saturday afternoon once it learned of the protest.

“The small volume of vaccines available on Saturday combined with the low demand for appointments allowed us to concentrate our appointments in the morning and thus adjust to the context surrounding the protest,” the spokesperson wrote in an email response.

Asked about the protest during a news conference Friday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called it “deeply disappointing.”

Trudeau said freedom of speech and the right to protest are important, but “it must be done safely.”

“The irony here is that by gathering, people are putting each other at risk, spreading further cases of COVID-19, and extending the time in which we will have to be faced with restrictions and public health measures,” Trudeau said.

“We know people are tired, people are frustrated, everyone is feeling this way,” he added, urging people to keep respecting the measures and getting vaccinated.

“These are the things that are going to get us back to normal as quickly as possible, and I know that’s what we all want.”

The protest is being advertised on Facebook under the banner “Québec Debout.” Roughly 30,000 people have expressed interest in attending.

Similar protests are also planned across the province on Saturday.

“We regard the sanitary measures as excessive and unjustified. We are asking for a return to normal life,” the organizers wrote online.

“Now is the time for all to stand up at the same time to create a historic and peaceful gathering.”

This week, Québec solidaire MNA Alexandre Leduc presented a motion at the National Assembly calling on protesters to respect people who want to get vaccinated and the health-care employees working at the sites.

“I reiterate my call to those who plan to demonstrate this Saturday at the Stadium: this is not the right target,” Leduc tweeted afterwards.

A peaceful protest against the curfew in Montreal’s Old Port this month degenerated and ended with people setting fire to trash cans, destroying city benches and smashing shop windows.

    • zero hedge – Biden Mulls Vax Mandate For All US Military After Huge Numbers Refused

President Biden told NBC News in an interview which broadcast Friday that he’s mulling ordering all US military personnel to get a COVID-19 vaccine as commander-in-chief. “I’m not saying I won’t” rule it out, he emphasized in the new interview.

This would also mean that anyone wanting to enter military service would have to receive the jab as a requirement to get in, which would likely cause a blow to military recruitment in the near-term. However, he didn’t outright say he’s ready to pull the trigger on the policy, which if enacted would constitute the largest federal government-ordered mandate in terms of forcing the vaccine on some 1.3 million active duty service members, not to mention over one million more reserve personnel.

Describing the decision as a “tough call” he suggested it was being hotly debated. “I don’t know. I’m going to leave that to the military,” Biden told NBC News’s Craig Melvin.

“I’m not saying I won’t. I think you’re going to see more and more of them getting it. And I think it’s going to be a tough call as to whether or not they should be required to have to get it in the military, because you’re in such close proximity with other military personnel.”

In follow-up to Biden’s comments, national security advisor Jake Sullivan confirmed that a DoD-wide vaccine mandate is “something the Department of Defense is looking at in consultation with the interagency process and [I] don’t have anything to add on that subject today.”

The whole debate was sparked in earnest when multiple headlines earlier this month took note of the large numbers of military members who were rejecting the vaccine.

For example, one recent USA Today report noted that nearly 40% of US Marines who have been offered a COVID-19 vaccine have refused to recieve it, according to Pentagon figures. And an earlier report in The Guardian described that “Reluctance to be vaccinated for Covid-19 is now rife in the US military, with about a third of troops on active duty or in the national guard refusing to be administered the vaccine.”

The Hill notes of the latest numbers as of this week that “Roughly 780,000 service members, or close to one-third of the total force, are partially or fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, according to the latest Department of Defense numbers.”

The broad reluctance among America’s military members to receive the jab probably has a lot to do with the vast majority being young, fit, and healthy — obviously far above the average American. And it’s clear at this point that this health demographic tends to experience fewer or minor symptoms if they get infected, if any symptoms at all.

Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs Terry Adirim earlier this month tried to combat this mentality among military ranks, however, calling the wealth of anecdotal evidence in the end “not true”. But so far it still looks like a large chunk of armed personnel are not convinced that the vaccine is worth getting, hence the Pentagon mulling the mandate.

Turkey Bans Citizens From Filming Police at Protests

Rights groups have condemned a new directive banning citizens from recording any footage of the police during protests, calling it an act of censorship and a blow to both accountability and citizens’ journalism.

General Directorate of Security, Turkish Police on Friday issued a directive banning all audio-visual recordings of citizens at protests.

“These kind of audio-visual recordings prevent them [the police] from fulfilling their duties and must not be permitted; they should prevent those taking recordings of a protest or action,” the directive said.

It said legal action will be taken against any citizens who record the police in any social events.

The police claim that audio-visual recordings of officers while they are fulfilling their duties during social events violate their privacy and reveal their identities.

Rights groups condemned the new directive as blatant censorship.

The Istanbul branch of the Association of Progressive Lawyers, CHD said that it was clearly introduced to guarantee police anonymity ahead of any incidents on May 1, International Labour Day.

“If your personnel are recorded while torturing someone, this could be presented as evidence. Once again, your duty is not to torture, it is a crime!” CHD wrote on Twitter. CHD told citizens that if they see a crime being committed, they can take audiovisual recording as “evidence.”.

  16. With guns drawn, FBI raids Homer couple’s home looking for Nancy Pelosi’s laptop

Paul and Marilyn Hueper, owners of Homer Inn & Spa, woke with a start at 9 a.m. April 28 when a dozen armed FBI agents kicked down their front door in an investigation associated with Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s stolen laptop, which was taken during the Jan. 6 siege of the nation’s Capitol.

Speaking April 29 to Kenai-based radio host Bob Bird of the Bird’s Eye View, Paul recalled that he was alarmed and shocked to come out of his bedroom with seven guns pointing at him and his wife.

“It was a little alarming when I turned around the corner,” Paul said. “The first thing they did was start barking out commandments.”

Ultimately, the couple was handcuffed and interrogated for the better part of three hours before being released. In the end, it was a case of mistaken identity.

The Huepers were in D.C. for the rally with President Trump, but they never came close to entering the Capitol, and certainly never took Pelosi’s laptop.

It appears the FBI were most interested in Marilyn. They had a photo of a woman wearing the same coat as her, and with a similar hairstyle. The photo was taken from Capitol building cameras, according to Marilyn, but beyond the hair and coat, there is little similarity between Marilyn and the woman photographed inside the Capitol.

The entire saga, however, left the Huepers disoriented but determined to better understand and defend their personal liberties and those of their friends and neighbors.

Paul said he repeatedly asked to see a search warrant but was denied until two and a half hours had gone by. During that time, he was separated from his wife.

“We sat there really for the first hour, not knowing what’s going on,” Paul told the Bird’s Eye View. “They never offered for us to be comfortable,” he added, “It was very harshly done.”

Paul said the agents ransacked the house and left a huge hole in his front door, which they offered to replace.

Paul said he knew he was innocent of whatever they suspected of him and his wife, but that it was still “all pretty confusing.”

After more than an hour, the agents told him that the raid had to do with the Jan. 6 siege of the U.S. Capitol.

The Huepers were in D.C. but only to “peacefully protest.”

“That’s what we were there for,” he said, adding that they never broke any laws. In fact, Paul said they never entered the Capitol building and were “at most a hundred yards away” from the entrance.

Agents showed Paul a photo of the woman who did enter the Capitol and asked if that was his wife.

“They had the same coat on,” he told Bird, but said the face of the woman was quite different from his wife’s. “My wife is much better looking than that,” he said.

While separated from her husband, Marilyn was told why the agents were at their home.

“They said, ‘We’re here for Nancy Pelosi’s laptop,” she recalled. “So, I guess it was stolen and it is still at large.”

The agents then claimed that they had positively identified Marilyn as being in the Capitol building and that they wanted to know who she was working with.

Marilyn said she tried to be respectful but couldn’t help but laugh.

She asked to see some identification, at which point agents quickly flashed their badges.

“I couldn’t read it fast enough to know what it was,” she said of the badges. She then asked to see a warrant and was told that she “would get to see it” later.

When repeatedly told she was the woman in the photo, Marilyn responded by saying “I would like to know how I split myself into two locations because I didn’t know I had this power.”

The first photo agents showed her was very fuzzy and depicted a woman wearing a similar coat with a similar hairstyle. They then showed her a photo of the woman’s face.

She told them, “Oh that’s obviously not me. Why didn’t you show me that photo to start with?” The woman in the photo has detached earlobes – Marilyn’s are attached, she said. Plus, the woman was wearing a sweater that Marilyn said, “You couldn’t pay me to wear.”

The agents suggested that she was lying and not cooperating, she told Bird.

At no point was the couple read their Miranda rights or charged with any crime, and the agents left after three hours without offering an apology. They also took Marilyn’s phones and laptop, she said.

Both Huepers say the whole ordeal has revealed just how little they know about their legal rights when dealing with the government.

“We really need to understand our latitude of choices,” Marilyn said. This is especially true when you see guns pointed at you and “you don’t want to disappoint them,” she said.

Marilyn said the raid has inspired her to know her rights.

“A lot of us have fallen down on the job,” she said of the duty to know and understand basic civil liberties. “The ball lies squarely in our court.”

Paul agreed, saying he feels “invigorated” to stand up for his personal liberties.

“This energizes me to take the right next step,” he said. “This fires me up to take care of my business as a citizen to do what’s right.”

How Marxists in America expect to seize power completely.

This is Part 1 of a new 3-part series on the rapidly deteriorating situation in American schools with regard to the teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT) as part of Ethnic Studies programs. The dangerous effects of CRT ideology already are apparent across U.S. institutions and must be countered immediately and resolutely if we are not to lose this Shining City on a Hill forever to a dark Marxist future.

A series of four articles here, here, here, and here, published at this site last year began to lay out the situation with a focus on the Santa Barbara Unified School District in California. This new series will update that focus, as the State of California continues to wrestle with the final form of an Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum. With the Biden Education Department signaling its intent to push Critical Race Theory on America’s schools, however, the issue is nationwide. In mid-April 2021, the Education Department released the text of a proposed new rule establishing priorities for the awarding of grants in American History and Civics Education programs to U.S. public schools.

Parents across the country are becoming increasingly alarmed at the pace with which the Biden administration and Department of Education are pursuing the framing of education across the board – in K-12 classes in everything from civics to basic reading, writing and math – in terms of racism. Many parents, stuck at home for the last year along with their children, are just beginning to realize what their kids are being indoctrinated with. It is identity-based Marxism in its purest form but adapted for the U.S. system to centralize race rather than economic class as the Alinskyite wedge issue maliciously designed to provoke division, hatred, and eventually, revolution.

  21. More Than 200 Seattle Police Officers Quit Citing ‘Anti-Police’ Climate
    Emily Zanotti
    4-5 minutes

More than 200 Seattle police officers walked off the job last year, according to the Seattle Police Department, following weeks of protests and heightened “anti-police rhetoric.”

Like the Louisville, Kentucky, police department, which revealed, earlier this week, that it is in a “staffing crisis” following the departure of nearly 200 of its own officers, Seattle’s police department is losing police officers “at a record pace.”

“Police Chief Adrian Diaz said Tuesday that the department is in a ‘staffing crisis’ after more than 180 police officers quit last year and another 66 officers left their jobs so far this year, according to police data,” per The Associated Press.

“We are at record lows in the city right now. I have about 1,080 deployable officers. This is the lowest I’ve seen our department,” Diaz said in an interview with local media.

  22. New Judge In Maricopa County Audit Worked For Firm That Merged With Perkins Coie – National File
    Patrick Howley
    2-3 minutes
Judge Daniel Martin, who is now presiding over the challenge to the Arizona Senate Republicans’ audit of the Maricopa County 2020 election results, is a Democrat appointee who worked for a firm that merged with Perkins Coie, the pro-Democrat powerhouse firm that is trying to shut down the Maricopa County audit.

Martin took over the case after the previous judge overseeing it, Republican Judge Christopher Coury, recused himself because a lawyer for the Cyber Ninjas auditing team previously working as an extern for Coury’s office. That lawyer was not listed as a representative for Cyber Ninjas until recently, prompting Coury’s recusal. A hearing will reportedly be convened in the case on Tuesday at 11 AM. A local NBC reporter said that the new judge Martin was initially appointed to a judgeship by former Democrat Arizona governor Janet Napolitano.

  23. Biden says he will ignore CDC guidance and keep wearing a mask — even outdoors: ‘It’s a patriotic responsibility for God’s sake’
    Chris Field
    3-4 minutes

Leading voices in the “party of science” are continuing to undermine recent face mask guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. From the liberal media to the president of the United States, it appears that the left has not fully embraced its own mantra of “trust the experts” when it comes to the coronavirus pandemic.

The CDC issued new face mask guidelines Tuesday saying that fully vaccinated Americans do not need to wear masks outdoors, or even indoors in many cases. Fully vaccinated people, the CDC said, can gather outdoors without wearing a mask except in certain crowded settings and can also gather indoors without wearing a mask or staying six feet apart.

Yet many liberals cannot wrap their minds around it.

  24. Biden State Dept. Nominee Demanded Prosecution of Bush and Cheney for War Crimes – Washington Free Beacon
    Alana Goodman
    5-7 minutes

President Joe Biden’s nominee for human-rights chief at the State Department has called on the Hague to investigate U.S. armed forces and former Bush administration officials for alleged “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity” related to the war on terror, a stance that conflicts with the Biden administration’s stated opposition to the international court probe.

Sarah Margon, Biden’s nominee for assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights, and labor, was the Washington, D.C., director for Human Rights Watch (HRW) and the foreign policy director at the Open Society Foundations. She has advocated prosecuting U.S. officials in foreign criminal courts over the CIA’s enhanced interrogation programs and other activities in Afghanistan—a position at odds with the Biden administration’s stance that could draw scrutiny ahead of Margon’s Senate confirmation hearing.

  25. Russia: Navy test-fires supersonic anti-ship cruise missile in the Black Sea

In what is being deemed as the first of its kind, the Russian Navy test-fired a supersonic anti-ship cruise missile in the Black Sea.

The flagship of the Russian Black Sea fleet “Moscow” practised hitting a simulated target with the use of the “Basalt” complex, the Russian Ministry of Defence press department reported on Friday.

According to the department, the missile cruiser targeted sea shields imitating enemy vessels with a “Vulkan” missile.

The flagship crew reportedly hit targets as part of combat training exercises. Marine aircraft and helicopters also took part in the drills, the ministry said.
