Reader’s Links for April 15, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  2. YouTube deletes anti-lockdown video by prominent Canadian legal group

    April 14, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – YouTube has deleted a powerful new video blasting COVID lockdowns and the negative social and mental effects they have caused. The video was released by prominent Canadian legal group Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF).

    The banned video, titled, “Covid: The Political Pandemic,” was released on April 10 on the group’s YouTube channel. Within minutes, the video was taken down for allegedly violating YouTube’s terms of service.

    The JCCF was able to post the video to a Rumble account in short order, however, and to date, it has over 21,000 views.

  3. Israel: Pfizer CEO ‘honoured’ by Independence Day ceremony tribute in Jerusalem

    The CEO of pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, Albert Bourla said that he was ‘honoured’ after he was thanked during the official Israeli ceremony celebrating the country’s independence day in Jerusalem on Wednesday.

    Bourla, the son of Greek Jews who survived the Holocaust, praised the nation’s achievements in science and innovation, calling the rapid pace of the vaccination campaign ‘another ground-breaking achievement,’ via a pre-recorded video message.

    The Pfizer boss committed last year to providing Israel with enough of the vaccine it produced in partnership with BioNTech in order to vaccinate the entire Israeli population, after intense lobbying from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with the country in turn agreeing to supply the company with data from its vaccination campaign.

    To pay tribute to the immunisation campaign, Israeli military officers demonstrating manoeuvres formed a moving syringe alluding to the COVID-19 jabs, along with a number one changing to number two, symbolising both doses administered as part of a full treatment regimen.

    Over 10 million vaccine doses have been delivered in the country of 9.3 million people, with over 55 percent of the population fully vaccinated, with COVID-19 cases and deaths falling rapidly even as the country takes steps towards reopening.

    SOUNDBITE:

    Albert Bourla, Pfizer CEO: “I am honoured that you have chosen to pay tribute to Pfizer at this Independence Day ceremony. Along with Jews around the world, I take immense pride in Israel. Pride in the fact that Israel is there for Jews everywhere, for us and for our children. Pride in Israel’s achievements, in science and technology, innovation and so much more. This year the partnership between Pfizer and Israel produced yet another ground-breaking achievement. Together we are demonstrating that with mass vaccination we can defeat the COVID-19 pandemic and save lives. I want to thank Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and all of Pfizer-Israeli counterparts. We have seen that there is a path back to normal and that definitely is something the entire world can celebrate. Chag Yom Haatzmaut Sameach (Hebrew, Happy Independence Day).”

      Pfizer CEO says third Covid vaccine dose likely needed within 12 months

      Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla said people will “likely” need a booster dose of a Covid-19 vaccine within 12 months of getting fully vaccinated. His comments were made public Thursday but were taped April 1.

      He also said it’s possible people will need to get vaccinated against the virus annually.

      “It is extremely important to suppress the pool of people that can be susceptible to the virus,” he told CNBC’s Bertha Coombs during an event with CVS Health. He added the vaccines will be an important tool in the fight against highly contagious variants.

      The comment comes after Johnson & Johnson CEO Alex Gorsky told CNBC in February that people may need to get vaccinated against Covid-19 annually, just like seasonal flu shots.

      Researchers still don’t know how long protection against the virus lasts once someone has been fully vaccinated.

      Pfizer said earlier this month its Covid-19 vaccine was more than 91% effective at protecting against Covid and more than 95% effective against severe disease up to six months after the second dose. Moderna’s vaccine, which uses technology similar to Pfizer’s, was also shown to be highly effective at six months.

      Pfizer’s data was based on more than 12,000 vaccinated participants. However, researchers say more data is still needed to determine whether protection lasts after six months.

      Earlier Thursday, the Biden administration’s Covid response chief science officer David Kessler said Americans should expect to receive booster shots to protect against coronavirus variants.

      Kessler told U.S. lawmakers that currently authorized vaccines are highly protective but noted new variants could “challenge” the effectiveness of the shots.

      “We don’t know everything at this moment,” he told the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis.

      “We are studying the durability of the antibody response,” he said. “It seems strong but there is some waning of that and no doubt the variants challenge … they make these vaccines work harder. So I think for planning purposes, planning purposes only, I think we should expect that we may have to boost.”

      In February, Pfizer and BioNTech said they were testing a third dose of their Covid-19 vaccine to better understand the immune response against new variants of the virus.

      Late last month, the National Institutes of Health started testing a new vaccine from Moderna designed to protect against a problematic variant first found in South Africa.

      Moderna CEO Stephane Bancel told CNBC on Wednesday that the company hopes to have a booster shot for its two-dose vaccine available in the fall.

  4. reuters – U.S. cancels warships deployment to Black Sea -Turkish diplomatic sources

    The United States has cancelled the deployment of two warships to the Black Sea, Turkish diplomatic sources said on Wednesday, amid concerns over a Russian military build-up on Ukraine’s borders.

    Washington and NATO have been alarmed by the build-up near Ukraine and in Crimea, the peninsula that Moscow annexed from Ukraine in 2014. Last week, Turkey said Washington would send two warships to the Black Sea, in a decision Russia called an unfriendly provocation.

    The U.S. Embassy in Ankara had notified Turkey’s foreign ministry of the move, the sources said, but did not provide a reason. Turkey’s state-run Anadolu news agency later reported that no new notices had been conveyed to Ankara for potential deployments at later dates.

    U.S. officials said that Turkey may have misunderstood the initial notification and the deployment was never confirmed.

    They said the United States frequently notifies Turkey for potential access to the Black Sea. But a request does not necessarily mean its ships will pass through, but rather ensures that if they choose to, they already have the required approval.

    Russia, which warned Washington to stay far away from Crimea and its Black Sea coast, says the build-up is a three-week snap military drill to test combat readiness in response to what it calls threatening behaviour from NATO. It has said the exercise is due to wrap up within two weeks.

    Ahead of the notification about U.S. warships, Russia’s navy on Wednesday began a drill in the Black Sea that rehearsed firing at surface and air targets. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg called on Moscow on Tuesday to end its troop build-up.

    Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has called for the “worrying” developments in eastern Ukraine’s Donbass region to come to an end.

    German Chancellor Angela Merkel and U.S. President Joe Biden on Wednesday called on Russia to pull back troops from Ukrainian borders.

    Biden, in a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, proposed a summit of the estranged leaders to tackle disputes and told Moscow to reduce tensions over Ukraine, the White House said.

    • Biden – Declares National Emergency Over Russian National Security Threats…

      Executive Order on Blocking Property with Respect to Specified Harmful Foreign Activities of the Government of the Russian Federation

      By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, including the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (50 U.S.C. 1701 et seq.) (IEEPA), the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1601 et seq.) (NEA), section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952 (8 U.S.C. 1182(f)), and section 301 of title 3, United States Code,

      I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, find that specified harmful foreign activities of the Government of the Russian Federation — in particular, efforts to undermine the conduct of free and fair democratic elections and democratic institutions in the United States and its allies and partners; to engage in and facilitate malicious cyber-enabled activities against the United States and its allies and partners; to foster and use transnational corruption to influence foreign governments; to pursue extraterritorial activities targeting dissidents or journalists; to undermine security in countries and regions important to United States national security; and to violate well-established principles of international law, including respect for the territorial integrity of states — constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States. I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat.
      Accordingly, I hereby order:
      Section 1. All property and interests in property that are in the United States, that hereafter come within the United States, or that are or hereafter come within the possession or control of any United States person of the following persons are blocked and may not be transferred, paid, exported, withdrawn, or otherwise dealt in:
      (a) any person determined by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State, and, with respect to subsection (a)(ii) of this section, in consultation with the Attorney General, or by the Secretary of State, in consultation with the Secretary of the Treasury, and, with respect to subsection (a)(ii) of this section, in consultation with the Attorney General:
      (i) to operate or have operated in the technology sector or the defense and related materiel sector of the Russian Federation economy, or any other sector of the Russian Federation economy as may be determined by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State;
      (ii) to be responsible for or complicit in, or to have directly or indirectly engaged or attempted to engage in, any of the following for or on behalf of, or for the benefit of, directly or indirectly, the Government of the Russian Federation:
      (A) malicious cyber-enabled activities;
      (B) interference in a United States or other foreign government election;
      (C) actions or policies that undermine democratic processes or institutions in the United States or abroad;
      (D) transnational corruption;
      (E) assassination, murder, or other unlawful killing of, or infliction of other bodily harm against, a United States person or a citizen or national of a United States ally or partner;
      (F) activities that undermine the peace, security, political stability, or territorial integrity of the United States, its allies, or its partners; or
      (G) deceptive or structured transactions or dealings to circumvent any United States sanctions, including through the use of digital currencies or assets or the use of physical assets;
      (iii) to be or have been a leader, official, senior executive officer, or member of the board of directors of:
      (A) the Government of the Russian Federation;
      (B) an entity that has, or whose members have, engaged in any activity described in subsection (a)(ii) of this section; or
      (C) an entity whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order;
      (iv) to be a political subdivision, agency, or instrumentality of the Government of the Russian Federation;
      (v) to be a spouse or adult child of any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to subsection (a)(ii) or (iii) of this section;
      (vi) to have materially assisted, sponsored, or provided financial, material, or technological support for, or goods or services to or in support of:
      (A) any activity described in subsection (a)(ii) of this section; or
      (B) any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order; or
      (vii) to be owned or controlled by, or to have acted or purported to act for or on behalf of, directly or indirectly, the Government of the Russian Federation or any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order.
      (b) any person determined by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State, to have materially assisted, sponsored, or provided financial, material, or technological support for, or goods or services to or in support of, a government whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to chapter V of title 31 of the Code of Federal Regulations or another Executive Order, and to be:
      (i) a citizen or national of the Russian Federation;
      (ii) an entity organized under the laws of the Russian Federation or any jurisdiction within the Russian Federation (including foreign branches); or
      (iii) a person ordinarily resident in the Russian Federation.
      (c) any person determined by the Secretary of State, in consultation with the Secretary of the Treasury, to be responsible for or complicit in, or to have directly or indirectly engaged in or attempted to engage in, cutting or disrupting gas or energy supplies to Europe, the Caucasus, or Asia, and to be:
      (i) an individual who is a citizen or national of the Russian Federation; or
      (ii) an entity organized under the laws of the Russian Federation or any jurisdiction within the Russian Federation (including foreign branches).
      (d) The prohibitions in subsections (a), (b), and (c) of this section apply except to the extent provided by statutes, or in regulations, orders, directives, or licenses that may be issued pursuant to this order, and notwithstanding any contract entered into or any license or permit granted before the date of this order.
      Sec. 2. The prohibitions in section 1 of this order include:
      (a) the making of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services by, to, or for the benefit of any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order; and
      (b) the receipt of any contribution or provision of funds, goods, or services from any such person.
      Sec. 3. (a) The unrestricted immigrant and nonimmigrant entry into the United States of noncitizens determined to meet one or more of the criteria in section 1 of this order would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, and the entry of such persons into the United States, as immigrants or nonimmigrants, is hereby suspended, except when the Secretary of State or the Secretary of Homeland Security, as appropriate, determines that the person’s entry would not be contrary to the interests of the United States, including when the Secretary of State or the Secretary of Homeland Security, as appropriate, so determines, based on a recommendation of the Attorney General, that the person’s entry would further important United States law enforcement objectives.
      (b) The Secretary of State shall implement this authority as it applies to visas pursuant to such procedures as the Secretary of State, in consultation with the Secretary of Homeland Security, may establish.
      (c) The Secretary of Homeland Security shall implement this order as it applies to the entry of noncitizens pursuant to such procedures as the Secretary of Homeland Security, in consultation with the Secretary of State, may establish.
      (d) Such persons shall be treated by this section in the same manner as persons covered by section 1 of Proclamation 8693 of July 24, 2011 (Suspension of Entry of Aliens Subject to United Nations Security Council Travel Bans and International Emergency Economic Powers Act Sanctions).
      Sec. 4. (a) Any transaction that evades or avoids, has the purpose of evading or avoiding, causes a violation of, or attempts to violate any of the prohibitions set forth in this order is prohibited.
      (b) Any conspiracy formed to violate any of the prohibitions set forth in this order is prohibited.
      Sec. 5. I hereby determine that the making of donations of the types of articles specified in section 203(b)(2) of IEEPA (50 U.S.C. 1702(b)(2)) by, to, or for the benefit of any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order would seriously impair my ability to deal with the national emergency declared in this order, and I hereby prohibit such donations as provided by section 1 of this order.
      Sec. 6. For the purposes of this order:
      (a) the term “entity” means a partnership, association, trust, joint venture, corporation, group, subgroup, or other organization;
      (b) the term “Government of the Russian Federation” means the Government of the Russian Federation, any political subdivision, agency, or instrumentality thereof, including the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, and any person owned, controlled, or directed by, or acting for or on behalf of, the Government of the Russian Federation;
      (c) the term “noncitizen” means any person who is not a citizen or noncitizen national of the United States;
      (d) the term “person” means an individual or entity; and
      (e) the term “United States person” means any United States citizen, lawful permanent resident, entity organized under the laws of the United States or any jurisdiction within the United States (including foreign branches), or any person in the United States.
      Sec. 7. For those persons whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order who might have a constitutional presence in the United States, I find that because of the ability to transfer funds or other assets instantaneously, prior notice to such persons of measures to be taken pursuant to this order would render those measures ineffectual. I therefore determine that for these measures to be effective in addressing the national emergency declared in this order, there need be no prior notice of a listing or determination made pursuant to section 1 of this order.
      Sec. 8. The Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State, is hereby authorized to take such actions, including the promulgation of rules and regulations, and to employ all powers granted to the President by IEEPA, as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of this order. The Secretary of the Treasury may, consistent with applicable law, redelegate any of these functions within the Department of the Treasury. All departments and agencies of the United States shall take all appropriate measures within their authority to carry out the provisions of this order.
      Sec. 9. Nothing in this order shall prohibit transactions for the conduct of the official business of the Federal Government or the United Nations (including its specialized agencies, programs, funds, and related organizations) by employees, grantees, and contractors thereof.
      Sec. 10. The Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State, is hereby authorized to submit recurring and final reports to the Congress on the national emergency declared in this order, consistent with section 401(c) of the NEA (50 U.S.C. 1641(c)) and section 204(c) of IEEPA (50 U.S.C. 1703(c)).
      Sec. 11. (a) Nothing in this order shall be construed to impair or otherwise affect:
      (i) the authority granted by law to an executive department or agency, or the head thereof; or
      (ii) the functions of the Director of the Office of Management and Budget relating to budgetary, administrative, or legislative proposals.
      (b) This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.
      (c) This order is not intended to, and does not, create any right or benefit, substantive or procedural, enforceable at law or in equity by any party against the United States, its departments, agencies, or entities, its officers, employees, or agents, or any other person.

      • Sundance at the Conservative Treehouse puts this in perspective:

        “The knuckleheads behind Biden attempted to flex their muscle toward Russia through a series of sanctions earlier today. The United States sanctioned 32 Russian entities and individuals along with six technology companies, formally attributed the SolarWinds cyber breach to Russian intelligence agencies, and accused Moscow of still trying to hack American targets.

        Russian President Vladimir Putin doesn’t care about words. Words, without action are meaningless. Putin knows the Biden administration is weak domestically because the majority of the U.S. electorate view his administration as illegitimate. Putin also knows Barack Obama foreign policy is essentially Biden foreign policy, and Putin accepts that both Obama and Biden are intent to weaken the U.S. globally.

        From the Russian perspective a bunch of noisy and pontificating moonbats are currently running everything in the U.S. and there is absolutely nothing to fear because their leadership, our U.S. government, is weak and unsupported. Putin knows Americans are not going to agree to another regional war in Europe when the damn Europeans are not even willing to defend themselves.

        Joe Biden acting like Scott Farcus only works until Ralphie puts a fist in Farcus’s face.

        And don’t forget… the number one asset of Russia is energy (oil and gas); JoeBama’s energy policy has effectively assisted the Russian economy. So there’s that…”

          …………
          As I said from the start, this is a gift to Putin. The NS-2 is the least of it.
          Though nice…

          Uke oligarchs, together with Soros-linked, Euro-oligarchs, incited the idiot Prez of Uke to declare war on Russia on March 24: He proclaimed his intent to recover ALL the ‘sacred’ land lost to Putin in 2014.

          In direct violation of the Minsk 2 Accords. The OPPOSITE of what the Ukrainian people wanted when they voted for Zelensky.

          An act of aggression against RUSSIA, just the OPPOSITE of what Western media spews. Warmed-over Cold War drivel, absurd.

          Crimea and the Donbass are _Russia_.
          Russian-speakers listen to Russian media, Ukes to their own version. But the gist is the same: Only oligarchs and crazies are up for a fight. Not the pathetic conscripts – not loyal to either miserable govt. And drafted up to age 59!

          If the Ukes had gotten a “loan” of head-choppers from the filthy Turk – plus some neat drones – maybe they could do a Nagorno-Karabakh.

          Too stupid. The Black Sea is not some little corner for proxy blood-sports, which both Putin and the filthy Turk thoroughly enjoy.

          Team-Biden: please stfu and stop embarrassing us.

  7. CBC – Conservatives’ climate plan would replace Liberal carbon tax with lower levy of their own

    CBC News has obtained a copy of the party’s climate change plan

    After years of criticizing the Liberal carbon tax, the Conservative party is proposing a climate plan that also puts a price on carbon for consumers, according to a copy of the party’s climate change plan obtained by CBC News.

    But instead of the Liberal carbon tax-and-rebate system, Conservative leader Erin O’Toole is proposing to charge a levy on fuel purchases and use the money to fund personalized savings accounts, which Canadians can use for environmentally friendly purchases.

    “We recognize that the most efficient way to reduce our emissions is to use pricing mechanisms,” notes the plan.

    Under O’Toole’s plan — which will be unveiled Thursday — Canadians would pay a carbon levy, initially amounting to $20 per tonne of greenhouse gas emissions, every time they buy hydro-carbon based fuels, such as gas.

    But instead of that money going into direct rebates for Canadian households, as is the case currently, the Conservatives would divert revenues to a “personal low carbon savings account.”

    Consumers could then draw on those accounts for “things that help them live a greener life,” the document says. “That could mean buying a transit pass or a bicycle, or saving up and putting the money towards a new efficient furnace, energy efficient windows or even an electric vehicle.”

    The Conservative party’s carbon price for the savings account would increase over time to reach a maximum of $50 per tonne. But it would go no higher than that, according to the plan.

    Private sector consortium to manage accounts

    The current Liberal policy — which only applies in provinces that have not set up their own carbon levies — sets the price at $40 per tonne, rising $10 each year to $170 per tonne by 2030.

    Under the Liberal policy, which was passed into law in 2018, 90 per cent of the revenue is returned to consumers in those provinces via rebates. The remaining 10 per cent is directed toward businesses, schools, hospitals and municipalities.

    The Conservative proposal calls for the accounts to potentially be managed by a private sector consortium in a manner similar to Interac, Canada’s debit card system.

    Tories say plan meets emissions reductions target
    The plan also specifies that Conservatives are prepared to maintain the current output-based pricing system on larger industrial emitters that the Liberal government has put in place, though they will assess what Canada’s trading partners are prepared to do.

    Currently, large emitters are charged a levy at the same rate as the consumer fuel charge. In the interests of providing an incentive to reduce emissions, while also addressing competitiveness concerns, companies are then given a subsidy tied to the average emissions intensity across their sector.

    The rest of the 15-page plan covers a number of other promises, including a zero-emission vehicle mandate, investments in technology, and a promise to develop a “national clean energy strategy.”

    The Conservatives also say their plan has been independently analyzed to ensure it meets Canada’s emissions reductions target for 2030, though no details of that analysis are included in the copy of the plan obtained by the CBC.

    More than a year into the pandemic, coronavirus variants are making it harder for people to avoid infection and changing the way people should be protecting themselves against the virus, as daily activities like grocery shopping become riskier than they used to be before the variants.

    Experts are now recommending doubling down on precautions, as the current measures might not be effective enough to protect against more contagious variants, like B.1.1.7, first detected in the U.K., and the P.1 variant, first detected in Brazil.

    • the epoch time – 5,800 Fully Vaccinated Americans Have Contracted COVID-19, 74 Dead: CDC

      Some 5,800 Americans have contracted COVID-19 despite being fully vaccinated against the virus that causes it, federal officials said April 15.

      The Americans contracted the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, which causes COVID-19, despite getting both doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) told The Epoch Times via email.

      Of the 5,800 fully vaccinated people who were confirmed as so-called breakthrough cases, nearly 400 required treatment at hospitals and 74 died.

      A little over 40 percent of the infections were in people 60 years of age or older, and 65 percent were female. The CDC declined to make a state-by-state breakdown available, though it has developed a national database where state health department investigators can enter, store, and manage data for cases in their jurisdiction.

      The figures were for cases through April 13.

  10. the hill – Chelsea Clinton calls on Facebook to ban Tucker Carlson

    Chelsea Clinton is calling on Facebook to ban Fox News host Tucker Carlson from the platform following a surge in online engagement with a post that included the conservative television personality’s speculation on the effectiveness of coronavirus vaccines.

    The former first daughter on Wednesday tweeted a screenshot of a Facebook post that included Carlson’s monologue from the night before, in which he said, “If the vaccine is effective, there is no reason for people who have received the vaccine to wear masks or avoid physical contact.”

    “So maybe it doesn’t work and they’re simply not telling you that,” he added at the time.

    According to data from the social media tool CrowdTangle, Carlson’s segment had become the most popular post on Facebook by Wednesday.

    In response, Clinton tweeted, “In December, @facebook banned claims about #covid19 vaccines ‘that have been debunked by public health experts.’”

    Clinton added that the attention to Carlson’s segment was “especially troubling given Republican men are currently most likely to say they’re not interested in being vaccinated.”

    Carlson’s Tuesday remarks came in the context of news that day that the distribution of Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine was being paused throughout the country because of concerns about a rare type of blood clot that has developed in six women who received the shot.

    Carlson has described himself as pro-vaccine, but the comments were criticized by public health officials such as Anthony Fauci, who in an interview with CNN Wednesday said it was “just a typical crazy conspiracy theory.”

    The Fox host pushed back on Fauci’s criticism during a Wednesday night segment, saying, “We never for a minute doubted” that “vaccines work.”

    “We bought all of that stuff completely at face value. We believe in science,” he continued. “Actually kind of trust the pharmaceutical companies a little bit too much, so when they said this stuff works, we never questioned it.”

    “We assumed they had detailed studies showing that it does work. We still think that,” Carlson added. “The only reason we are asking the question is because the people in charge are acting like it doesn’t work.”

    Life imitates art: Pig’s head impaled on a pike paraded in front of Brooklyn Center police station

    Scene from the film “Lord of the Flies”

    Yesterday a group of angry protesters congregated outside police headquarters in Brooklyn Center, Minn., holding aloft a pig’s head wearing a cop hat. The intended symbolism is obvious, but a secondary interpretation of the symbol makes a powerful statement about the protesters themselves.

    The image of a severed head of a big on a stake lends the vision and title to William Golding’s Nobel Prize-winning novel “Lord of the Flies.” The book, published in 1954, depicts a group of elementary school-age children stranded on an uninhabited island after the plane they were aboard crashes and they are left to fend for themselves.

    The idea for the book came to Golding after he read several 19th-century youth novels about stranded children that struck him as unrealistic and set out to write a book “about children on an island, children who behave in the way children really would behave.”

    The children in “Lord of the Flies” behave grotesquely. After starting out as a united team with the single-minded goal of summoning help by building and vigilantly maintaining a signal fire, they split into factions, one driven by baser instincts including groupthink, irrationality, and increasingly immorality, ending ultimately in murder. Believing that they are being stalked by a “beast,” they erect an offering in the form of a severed pig’s head mounted on a sharpened stick. They consecrate the offering, which soon swarms with flies, as he “Lord of the Flies.”

    Court-packing, CEO-tracking: Radical political steamroller gathers momentum

    Fox 5 D.C. video

    Each day, it seems, brings an increased sense of recklessness coming from the radicalized, unaccountable government in Washington, D.C. that we are supposed to believe 81 million Americans wanted in November 2020.

    The primary example of that on Wednesday 14 April was the news that congressional Democrats are preparing legislation to pack the Supreme Court by enlarging its ranks to 13 justices.

    Trending: Where are the protests over this black death?

    This incendiary announcement came very shortly after the Biden administration unveiled its plan for a commission to study such a proposal. President Biden said during the 2020 campaign that it was not on his agenda to pack the court, so in the conventional terms of “old politik,” his move could be seen as a gesture to the far-left progressives who want to pack the court, but not necessarily as a signal of intent.

    • The filthy Turk told Prez Z he would NOT send him arms or his pet jihadi mercs. Proxy wars are one thing (Azerbaijan, Libya).
      Direct engagement against Russia is altogether different…..
      …..OUT of the question.

      • Without US leadership there will be no effective opposition to the Russian conquest of all of Ukraine.

        Letting the nation be conquered is one way to get rid of the indictment for corruption.

        • He doesn’t WANT all Ukraine.

          Crimea and the eastern provinces – maybe up to the Dnieper, a natural border. It’s good drainage, and the population would be mostly Russian.

          The west can cozy up to Eurotrash, bring in money he’ll squeeze out of them.

          Not NATO, of course.

        • It’s no nation.
          Westerners project – or wish for – neat, Westphalian states where they don’t make sense. Like across Mesopotamia, the Levant, or the Indian Subcontinent.

          It’s fragments of tribes, run by oligarchs who loot resources and prop up puppets. “Patriotism” is only expressed as ideological extremism, ugly and distasteful to most everybody else.

          Broadly, the two language groups fought on opposite sides in the Great Patriotic War. There’s no love lost. Khrushchev threw a chunk of core Russia – Kievan Rus – to the Soviet Socialist Republic of Ukraine. A lordly gesture.

          No natural border, without the linguistic and religious coherence of a single, stable state. That’s the case for many of these quasi-states and ‘stans that became sorta independent after the break up of the Soviet Union.

  16. Texas Ranchers Dealing With Armed Smugglers on Land

    McALLEN, Texas—Two heavily armed suspected smugglers drive down a dirt road to hand their cargo of illegal aliens over to the next vehicle. One, the front passenger, is filming the bumpy drive with one hand, while pointing an AR-15 with a drum magazine out the windshield.

    They’re speaking Spanish, talking about how much farther to go. At one stage, the driver communicates over a radio to say, “I’m there, I’m there, hold on.”

    Suddenly the vehicle arrives at a gate, where a pickup truck is waiting on the other side, and the driver and passenger yell to their cargo, “All of you, all, all, all, run, run,” along with a lot of cursing. The backseat passengers jump out and run to the waiting vehicle.

    The incident occurred in Jim Hogg County, Texas, about 70 miles north of the U.S.–Mexico border.

    Caroline, who was an embedded reporter with the 3rd Infantry Division at the outset of the Iraq War analyzed the consequences of the war on Iranian power. Gadi discussed the roots of America’s “woke” Iran policy in Edward Said’s anti-intellectual legacy.

    And Glick and Taub marked Israel’s 73rd birthday considering the threats and triumphs of the Jewish state.

    Twitter banned Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe after he posted multiple videos exposing CNN’s left-wing bias.

    Project Veritas on Thursday released a third bombshell undercover video of CNN Director Charlie Chester admitting that the network is “trying to help” Black Lives Matter by protecting their narrative on race.

    Chester admits that they have only been pushing stories that implicate white people, during a conversation with a Tinder date that ended up being a Project Veritas reporter.

    Chester admitted that while researching Asian hate, they found that it is mostly black men attacking them — so they did not dig in deeper.

  19. Biden U.N. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield Faces Backlash For Attacking U.S.: ‘CCP Propaganda’
    Ryan Saavedra
    4-5 minutes

    Linda Thomas-Greenfield, Biden’s U.N. ambassador, faced widespread criticism on Wednesday after she bashed the U.S. while speaking to a far-left organization run by “genuine bigot” Al Sharpton.

    Thomas-Greenfield said the Biden administration wants to have “humility” as it raises the issues of “equity and justice at the global scale.”

    “I tried to do this recently in the UN General Assembly when I spoke on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination,” Thomas-Greenfield said. “That day and commemoration was personal for me. So I told the UN some personal stories. I told them how my great-grandmother, Mary Thomas, born in 1865, was the child of a slave, just three generations back from me. I grew up in the segregated South; I was bused to a segregated school. On weekends, the Klan burned crosses on lawns in our neighborhood. I shared these stories and others to acknowledge, on the international stage, that I have personally experienced one of America’s greatest imperfections. I’ve seen for myself how the original sin of slavery weaved white supremacy into our founding documents and principles.”

    Thomas-Greenfield faced subsequent backlash over her remarks from a wide range of critics, including:

    Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and “Ball Sweat Poisoning” is an extraordinary claim.

    Their evidence is:

    1 We prank called a random guy
    2 Were telling you this random guy is an assassin
    3 That assassin told us they tried to Novichuk Navalny’s Nut sack

    2/7 Bellingcat does all investigation “open source.”
    Clearly CIA and our 17 intel agencies, with all their God-tier surveillance, couldnt crack this case

    Who needs civil rights violations and billions in spending when an “independent blog” can do the CIAs job even better?

    3/7 Bellingcat is a “Hoax for Hire” factory where spies launder lies. Look into Christopher Steele’s connection to the network around Bellingcat. They called YOU a Russian intelligence asset for posting Trump memes on Twitter. You’re gonna trust them on geopolitics now?

    4/7 Conservative reporters in the White House press pool, ask Jen Psaki if “Ball Sweat Poisoning” is the White House’s official explanation for their position on the Navalny events.

    Ask Ned Price at State.
    Make them say “Yes” or “No” whether they endorse Bellingcaught.

    5/7 If they don’t give a response, you have your answer: They want Bellingcaught to stir up a pile of shit, but they don’t want to step in it themselves.

    6/7 All of this may have been okay before 2017, when the Globalist American Empire only did these outrageous ops to foreign adversaries.

    But now they’re targeting us at home. So why should you care?

    Because they do.
    The answer here is clear: America needs a Church Committee 2.0

    • All claims need the same level of evidence because to everyone some claim is extraordinary. To a Muslim, claiming that Mohammad made up Allah will get you killed. But in reason and logic, the requirement of proof is the same.

      At one point, the claim that the Earth was round was extraordinary. Today, the claim that its a flat disc is. Both need the exact same level of proof. One passes, one fails. Problem solved.

      • Who gets to present the evidence?
        What if there’s a challenging set of proofs?
        Who audits statistics? Who’s weighing them?

        I just visited the Globalresearch website. Indistinguishable from Russian-language media.

  22. Turkey: Scuffles as healthcare workers slam govt response to COVID crisis

    A crowd of doctors protested the deaths of health workers and the mismanagement of the pandemic in Istanbul on Thursday.

    Among protesters, there were representatives of health workers’ unions, labour organisations and students. Police tried to disperse doctors to prevent them from gathering outside Istanbul provincial health directorate.

    Scuffles broke out between police and health workers.

    ”It has to be really explained that our citizens today lack vaccines, but we as Turkey are giving 150,000 doses of vaccines to Libya. From here, we want to make a call again upon public authorities. Please let’s fight COVID with logic, science and solidarity. We do not want to see any more deaths,” said one of the doctors who took the stage during the protest.
