Reader’s Links for March 14, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. 100,000 Israelis who got first COVID shot reportedly haven’t returned for second

A hundred thousand Israelis who received their first COVID-19 vaccine shot have not returned for the second dose, according to a Saturday report.

Ministry officials quoted by Channel 12 news attributed the reluctance to get the second shot to two factors — wariness over side effects after the first dose and misinformation about the vaccines.

The network said health workers were among those who got a first dose but did not come back for the second, but at a lower percentage than the general population.

According to the latest Health Ministry figures, 5,128,212 Israelis have received at least one vaccine dose. The 100,000 people who reportedly have not gotten a second dose account for just under 2 percent of this group.

The number of people who have received both shots stood at 4,128,807.

  2. Hizbullah Responds to the Publication in Israel of Nasrallah’s “Secret File”

On March 12, 2021, the Israeli newspaper Yediot Ahronot published what it purported to be a secret profile of Hizbullah head Hassan Nasrallah, prepared by a research team from the IDF’s Intelligence Branch that follows Hizbullah’s secretary-general 24/7. Below is an excerpt:

Nasrallah is a megalomaniac, paranoid, and obsessed with the media in Israel who reads every word written about him. A narcissist and liar. The coronavirus makes things worse, but he rejects vaccines made by the enemy, America. He is not going to retire anytime soon, and he is not grooming an heir.

Hizbullah responded immediately to the Israeli article, “Nasrallah’s Secret File,” in a column in the Al-Akhbar newspaper, written by editor Ibrahim al-Amin who is close to Nasrallah.2 The response was stinging…

Ibrahim al-Amin paid back in full the journalists who wrote it and “fell for it” without asking questions about the reliability of the information and its intelligence value. The article was primarily intended to glorify the Israeli military intelligence, the Nasrallah associate charged.…

Mexico’s left-wing government is reportedly concerned that Democrat President Joe Biden’s policies are sparking a massive surge in illegal immigration to the U.S. and are providing business for the nation’s violent drug cartels.

Reuters reported this week that, according to government officials and reports, Mexico is “worried the new U.S. administration’s asylum policies are stoking illegal immigration and creating business for organized crime.” Biden’s policies have already significantly impacted the border situation as more than 100,000 migrants were detained last month for illegally trying to enter the U.S., the highest total for the month of February since 2006.

Major cities on the West Coast were among those seeing riots and protests Saturday night as demonstrators marked the one-year anniversary of Breonna Taylor’s death in a police raid in Louisville, Kentucky.

Several U.S. cities were beset by riots and protests on Saturday night as demonstrators marked the one-year anniversary of the death of Taylor in Louisville, Kentucky.

Los Angeles, Portland, and Seattle saw protests and clashes between crowds of people and police. Rioters threw rocks at police officers in Hollywood and smashed store windows, according to reports and footage published from the scene.

Videos showed riot police at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street. A video uploaded to Twitter showed a demonstrator appearing to jump on a police car as it drove away.

Officials told KNBC in Los Angeles that at least one officer was injured during the skirmishes between protesters and police.

“Ppl asking why the protesters who got hit by LAPD’s car jumped on the hood… uh… cuz when you’re getting hit by a car YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE UNDER IT,” the person who uploaded the video said.

  5. Texas to Stand Up Against Biden’s ‘Radical’ Policies, AG Paxton Says
    By Janita Kan

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has vowed to use all available legal means to rein in President Joe Biden’s policy plans and ensure that his administration adheres to the rule of law.

The Lone Star State’s top law enforcement official wrote in an op-ed that it’s the responsibility of individual states to provide the necessary checks and balances against the executive branch, given that both chambers of Congress are currently controlled by Democrats with their slim majority.

“I am proud to lead the way for Texas in providing the necessary counterweight to the far-left Democrats forcing dangerously radical policies upon us,” Paxton wrote in the op-ed published on Fox News on March 13.

Paxton, who has served as the state’s attorney general since 2015, has been at the forefront in defending constitutional rights, election integrity, and has stood as a bulwark against leftist progressive policies that he says harm his state.

  6. The Game that Left Iran in Historic Impasse

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s presidency ends like the scene of a car crash. With the official inflation rate at over 50 percent, unemployment hovering over 25 percent and over 40 percent of Iranians pushed under the official poverty line, talk of “hope” seems indecent to say the least. “Not worth a bucketful of spit!” This is how US President Harry Truman described the vice-presidency when he himself filled that slot under President Roosevelt.

Today, some commentators believe that he colorful description could be applied to the position of the president in Iran.

This is why many, even among the critics of the regime, insist that showing any interest in this year’s presidential election, slated for June, is not only a waste of time but active participation in a massive political deception.

    – Critics blast ‘hellish demi-lockdown where we have to be tested all the time, carry a vaccine passport everywhere and are under the constant threat of being locked down’ after Boris laid out Covid road map including rules lasting into the future –

WHEN WILL IT END? Answer: NEVER.

The former Tory leader accused government scientists of deploying ‘Project Fear’ tactics to keep restrictions in place for longer than necessary.

He told the Mail: ‘We were told the vaccine was the way out, no ifs, no buts. We can see from the data that the vaccine is working better than anyone had hoped, but now the scientists are saying the real issue is variants or a third wave.

‘They want to keep Project Fear going because they are enjoying the control they have, and ministers have caved in to them.

‘The result is we are headed for a hellish demi-lockdown, where we have to be tested all the time, carry a vaccine passport everywhere and are under the constant threat of being locked down again.’
