Reader’s Links for February 28, 2021

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. This from last year, but it’s the first time I heard about it. Kind of interesting how France deals with this kind of hate speech:

Feminist book called I Hate Men sells out in France after government official attempted to ban it
The book is written by French activist Pauline Harmange, 25, from the city of Lille
A special adviser to France’s ministry for gender equality has called for a ban
Ralph Zurmély claims that it is an ‘incitement to hatred on the grounds of gender’
Following his criticism, all 450 first editions and a further 2,500 copies sold out

I Hate Men is the title of a young woman’s new book which officials tried to ban as an incitement to hatred – but the author (a French bisexual blogger) is a mass of contradictions who happily makes brownies for her mild-mannered husband, says SARAH SANDS

  2. SKY NEWS AUSTRALIA – World Economic Forum leads a ‘concerted effort’ for global socialism: Bernardi

The World Economic Forum is the “architect of the Great Reset” and aims to reduce people into mere economic vassals for a few oligarchs, according to Sky News host Cory Bernardi.

“There are certain warning signs we all need to be mindful of,” Mr Bernardi said.

“Like when someone appears in your life and says ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help you’. Another warning sign is any organization with the term ‘world’ in their name.”

Mr Bernardi pointed to the World Health Organisation, which “gave China a free pass on the Wuhan flu”.

He also spoke of the World Food Programme, the World Meteorological Organisation, the World Tourism Organisation, the World Trade Organisation and the World Vegetable Centre.

“All these authorities are pushing an agenda to decarbonize, deindustrialize, and disempower the Western world. They are part of a concerted plan to redesign capitalism in a new image,” Mr Bernardi said.

“It’s spearheaded by the grand daddy organisation of them all – the World Economic Forum.”

  3. Syria reports Israeli missile attack near capital, Damascus

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — Syrian air defenses were activated in the capital Damascus and its southern suburbs Sunday night to repel an Israeli missile attack, state media reported. There was no word on casualties.

State TV quoted an unnamed military official as saying that most of the Israeli missiles were shot down before reaching their targets near Damascus.

Israel has launched hundreds of strikes against Iran-linked military targets in Syria over the years, but rarely acknowledges or discusses such operations.

Israel views Iranian entrenchment on its northern frontier as a red line, and it has repeatedly struck Iran-linked facilities and weapons convoys destined for Lebanon’s militant Hezbollah group.

“A Russian warship, the Admiral Grigorovich frigate, entered the Sudanese port where Russia plans to set up a naval base, Russia’s Interfax news agency reported on Sunday, citing a statement from the Russian fleet.

It was the first Russian warship to enter Port Sudan, the statement said, according to Interfax.

Russian President Vladimir Putin in November approved the creation of a Russian naval facility in Sudan capable of mooring nuclear-powered surface vessels.”

  5. Turkish army ready to fight ISIL, but US should cut support to YPG: Akar
    https://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/turkish-army-ready-to-fight-isil-but-us-should-cut-support-to-ypg-akar-162763

“As the second largest army of NATO, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) is ready to combat ISIL, but the United States should cut its support to the YPG in Syria, the Turkish defense minister has said.

“The TSK, as one of the strongest armies of NATO, is here and ready to fight against DAESH. We’ll fight against DAESH wherever they want. But this support to the terror organization should be ceased,” Defense Minister Hulusi Akar told daily Hürriyet over the weekend.

Akar’s words were a direct message to the U.S., which has been supporting the YPG both politically and militarily as its partner in the fight against ISIL in eastern Syria. Turkey recognizes the YPG as the offshoot of the PKK in Syria and, therefore, a terrorist organization.

“Turkey is making a very big struggle inside and outside. I tell those who lend support to the PKK/YPG: The reason why they support them is this group’s so-called struggle against DAESH. There is no need for such pretext,” he said.

Turkey is here to fight ISIL, Akar added, recalling that it was solely the TSK which engaged in a direct fight with ISIL in Syria. “Up to today, 3,700 DAESH terrorists were neutralized in Syria and Iraq. Around 100,000 DAESH members were prevented from entering Turkey as a result of communication with the U.S.,” the minister stated.

    [HH] Intellectual ethics are sought

Turkey and the U.S. have long been at odds over the latter’s support to the YPG in eastern Syria. Turkey says the YPG is using the military and political support it receives from the U.S. to create an autonomous region from where it is posing a threat against Turkish citizens and borders.

“We demand intellectual ethic from our allies,” he said, drawing the fact that the U.S. is supporting a terror organization which poses a threat to its ally at NATO. “This can’t be,” Akar stated.

[HH] Greek armament ‘a futile effort’

On questions about Greece’s acquisition of fighter jets from France in the aftermath of last year’s tension with Turkey in the eastern Mediterranean, Akar said Greece will reach nowhere by purchasing “a few fighter jets or warships.”

“It’s not sufficient. The power of Turkey and the Turkish army is well-known. It is one of the strongest armies. These claims do not fit with logic and mathematics. The Greek government is wasting the Greek people’s money by purchasing these weapons. It’s a futile effort,” he said.”

  6. Roadside bomb kills 3 in Somali capital

“At least three people, including two soldiers, were killed in a bomb blast targeting a military vehicle in the Somali capital on Sunday, police said.

Police officials told Anadolu Agency that the bomb targeted army chief Gen. Abbas Aamin Ali and other senior military officials.

The general and other military officials escaped unhurt, security sources said, adding that the convoy was attacked on Mogadishu’s KM4 intersection while heading to the Defense Ministry.

While the number of injured is not known, a civilian was also among those killed.

Al-Shabaab, a Somali-based al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group, claimed responsibility for the attack.”

  7. Austria: Antifa demonstrators try to block deportation of migrant criminals, including rapists
    https://rmx.news/article/article/austria-antifa-demonstrators-try-to-block-deportation-of-migrant-criminals-including-rapists

“Refugee workers in Vienna tried to prevent the deportation of several rejected asylum seekers to Afghanistan, including those convicted of rape and other serious crimes earlier this week.

Up to 50 people, including members of the left-wing extremist group “Autonomen Antifa Wien”, blocked a street and demanded a right to stay for those who were being deported, according to Austria’s Heute web portal. A major traffic jam formed in the direction of downtown Vienna, forcing the police to step in and clear the blockade.

As reported by the news portal Heute, the rejected asylum seekers included several men who had committed serious crimes in the past. Of the 37 people who were deported, 11 had already been convicted of one or more crimes.

For example, three men were found guilty of attempted and committed rape. There were also crimes such as coercion, bodily harm, dangerous threats, deprivation of liberty, robbery, theft, damage to property, resistance to state power, and violations of Austria’s Narcotics Act.

However, the Antifa protests were unsuccessful. The rejected asylum seekers were deported to Afghanistan with the help of the EU border protection organization Frontex.

The Viennese protests commemorate the case of a young Afghan who entered the country illegally and was supposed to be deported from Nuremberg in 2017. At that time, too, a larger group, including supporters of the left-wing extremist movement Antifa tried to prevent his deportation. During their arrest, the Afghan had threatened that he would be back in Germany in a month and kill Germans.

In the case of Vienna, too, one of the deportees threatened several people with death. He had announced that he would kill the authorities and any judges who were involved with rejecting his asylum application.

In January, the deportation of three families to Georgia and Armenia caused a dispute in Austria’s governing coalition made up of the Austrian People’s Party and the Greens. While the latter condemned the measure, Interior Minister Karl Nehammer for the People’s Party defended the deportation.”

NEW – @ODNIgov quietly swapped the unclassified Khashoggi intelligence report with a second version on Friday, inexplicably removing three names, CNN reports.

The White House didn’t respond to a request for comment.

    =============================================

CNN – Three names mysteriously removed from Khashoggi intelligence report after initial publication

Shortly after the US intelligence community published its long-awaited report on Friday afternoon on the Saudis who were responsible for the death of Jamal Khashoggi, it was taken down without explanation and replaced with another version that removed the names of three men it had initially said were complicit.

The quiet switch by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence went largely unnoticed […]

The Office of the Director of National Intelligence declined to clarify why the names were originally on the list and what roles, if any, they may have had in Khashoggi’s killing.
“We put a revised document on the website because the original one erroneously contained three names which should not have been included,” an ODNI spokesperson told CNN.

[…]The first of the three names removed is Abdulla Mohammed Alhoeriny, who has not been previously connected with Khashoggi’s death.

According to a person familiar with the inner workings of Saudi intelligence, he’s the brother of General Abdulaziz bin Mohammed al-Howraini, a minister who is in charge of the powerful Presidency of State Security which oversees multiple intelligence and counterterrorism agencies. Abdulla (as it’s spelled by ODNI) appears in Saudi reports as the assistant chief of state security for counterterrorism.

The two other names that appeared in the unclassified intelligence report and then disappeared are Yasir Khalid Alsalem and Ibrahim al-Salim. It was not immediately clear who they are.

[…]The State Department also announced 76 unnamed Saudis would be barred from the United States under a “Khashoggi Ban.”
