Reader’s Links for December 5, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Muslims in the Netherlands (esp Turks) make a big deal out of wedding celebrations. They rent the most expensive cars they can afford to flaunt their non-existent wealth. Then cause as much nuisance as they can, honk their horns from dusk till dawn, block intersections, dance on highways, drive against traffic, set off fireworks. All of this is illegal, especially now with the lockdown. But anybody who complains gets a fist to the face, they even knock out police officers.

  7. 2021 to Be ‘Catastrophic’: World Food Programme Chief Predicts Crises Over Conflicts, COVID Pandemic (sputniknews, Dec 5, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/world/202012051081368573-2021-to-be-catastrophic-world-food-programme-chief-predicts-crises-over-conflicts-covid-pandemic/

“While disrupting people’s lives across the world, the coronavirus pandemic has decimated livelihoods by plunging the global economy into decline, with jobs lost and poverty expected to rise. A record 235 million people will need humanitarian assistance and protection next year, the UN projected earlier this week.

Top UN officials have warned that the year 2021 is shaping up to be fraught with “catastrophic” humanitarian crises, reported Reuters.

Addressing the 193-member UN General Assembly on Friday during a special meeting on COVID-19, World Food Programme (WFP) chief David Beasley and World Health Organisation (WHO) head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus offered a dire forecast for the coming months against the continuing COVID pandemic, that has infected 65 million globally so far.

    ‘Economic Ripple Effect’
WFP chief David Beasley warned that despite efforts to curb the spread of the pandemic and mitigate the economic fallout from the health crisis, approximately 270 million people are currently “marching toward starvation” and suggested that for some countries, famine is “around the horizon”.

“2021 is literally going to be catastrophic based on what we’re seeing at this stage of the game.” said Beasley.
He added that next year was likely to be “the worst humanitarian crisis year since the beginning of the United Nations” 75 years ago.

The official emphasised that “we’re not going to be able to fund everything … so we have to prioritise, as I say, the icebergs in front of the Titanic.”

According to Beasley, both the pandemic itself and the lockdown policies adopted by governments were fuelling the current trends, acknowledging that the “cure could be worse than the disease because of the economic ripple effect”.

The WFP chief also singled out the “man-made conflicts”, such as ongoing wars in Syria, Yemen, and South Sudan, as having impacted the situation.

“We’ve got to end some of these wars. We’ve got to bring these wars to an end, so we can achieve the sustainable development goals that we so desire,” he said.
Touting the importance of emerging coronavirus vaccines, coupled with fiscal efforts to mitigate the crippling effect of the global health crisis, Beasley said:

“If we’re strategic and put the funds to these particular icebergs before us, I believe that we can get through 2021, while we work with the vaccines and rebuild the economies.”
Earlier, in August, the WFP head had warned that the number of people facing malnutrition could spike by 80 percent by the end of the year.

A UNICEF forecast in May suggested that in 118 low and middle-income nations, 1.2 million children under the age of five could die in the following six months “due to lockdowns, curfews and transport disruptions”.

The vaccine issue was similarly addressed by World Health Organisation (WHO) head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, as he appealed for an injection of $4.3 billion into a global inoculation-sharing programme.

“We simply cannot accept a world in which the poor and marginalised are trampled by the rich and powerful in the stampede for vaccines. This is a global crisis and the solutions must be shared equitably as global public goods,” Tedros told the UN General Assembly.
Earlier, the United Nation’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) hosted a virtual global launch of the Global Humanitarian Overview 2021 on Tuesday, 1 December 2020.

According to its published overview of the current state and future trends in humanitarian action, a record 235 million people will require humanitarian assistance and protection next year.

The projected estimate represents a 40 percent increase on 2020 which is “almost entirely from COVID-19”, according to the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mark Lowcock.”

  8. In Trump’s campaign to save the Republic, we haven’t seen the key supporting effort yet
    By J.E. Dyer December 4, 2020

n a military campaign, like the invasions of Saddam’s Iraq in 1991 and 2003, there is designated a main effort, and a set of supporting efforts. The main effort is the constructive centerline of the strategy, the one on which the momentum may accelerate or slow, but is always propelling the campaign most directly toward the its objective (e.g., to reach Baghdad with massed force and reduce Iraq’s national authorities to disorganized impotence, so that there is no longer any focused national will).

The supporting efforts contribute to the main effort, affording it what it needs in terms of strength, protection, breathing space, acceleration, and preparation for follow-through, including the need to move on to a next phase. In some cases supporting efforts are maneuver vectors in their own right, such as flanking moves to complicate the enemy’s battle problem geographically. In other cases they may be well-designed logistic activities, political gambits, or campaigns in warfare dimensions like information or strategic interdiction; e.g., eliminating the infrastructure for producing war materiel.

    https://sputniknews.com/world/202012051081370004-ankaras-military-technology-helped-baku-in-karabakh-conflict-turkish-defence-chief-says/

“Turkish military technologies have contributed to Azerbaijan’s success in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar said on Saturday.

“Azerbaijan has successfully ended the war in Karabakh, being also assisted by our national military technologies, and liberated Karabakh from the occupation in 44 days”, Akar said as quoted by the Anadolu news agency.

On 9 November, the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan adopted a joint statement on the cessation of hostilities in unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh. The agreement resulted in the loss of some territories controlled by the Armenian-majority self-proclaimed Republic of Artsakh and the deployment of 1,960 Russian peacekeepers to the region.

On 11 November, Moscow and Ankara signed a memorandum on establishing a joint centre in Azerbaijan to control the cessation of hostilities in the region of Nagorno-Karabakh.”

  10. Teacher goes into hiding after Islamist girls allege he displayed Mohammed cartoon
In the Netherlands, in the city of Rotterdam, a teacher had to go into hiding because, according to a group of radicalized girls, he had displayed a cartoon of Mohammed in his classroom. They demanded that he take down the picture, even though it was not a drawing of Mohammed.
    https://freewestmedia.com/2020/11/09/teacher-goes-into-hiding-after-islamist-girls-allege-he-displayed-mohammed-cartoon/
A photo of the offending drawing was widely shared on Instagram. … “If this isn’t removed very quickly,” writes one Instagram user, “then we’ll do something else.” According to the police, there are also online threats against the teacher.
In actual fact, there has been a “substantial” digital investigation to hunt down the senders, the police spokesperson admitted, according to Dutch daily De Dagelijkse Standaard.
In 2015, the teacher had put up a cartoon by Joep Bertrams about the attack on the satire magazine Charlie Hebdo. The cartoon won the Inktspotprijs that year. It features a decapitated man in a Charlie Hebdo shirt, sticking out his tongue at the jihadist who just decapitated him. The teacher tried to explain to “the girls” that it was not Mohammed, but they refused to listen to him.
The Islamist girls wanted the cartoon taken down right away. They said the teacher was guilty of “blasphemy”. Other teachers were brought in to explain that the man in the cartoon was not the prophet, but a jihadist. It was however impossible to convince the Islamist students. The discussion became so heated that the cartoon was promptly removed from the bulletin board.
Dutch news outlet NRC tweeted: “For five years a cartoon has hung on the wall of a classroom in Rotterdam. On Monday students demanded its removal. Now a teacher has gone into hiding.”
The community police officer was at the school for a whole day “looking for the connection” with the students. Rector Raoul Majewski said in a statement that the conversation with the students was “hijacked by outsiders to make unfounded threats”.
But on Thursday afternoon, PowNed journalists who were filming in front of Emmaus College were attacked by students from the school. Broadcaster Dominique Weesie told public broadcaster NOS that despite the offer to erase images, the journalists have been abused and beaten. The terrified rector did not want to comment on this incident.
The threats are being taken very seriously in the light of the attacks in France and Austria since Dutch authorities estimate that very little is needed in this climate to trigger jihadists.
Education Minister Arie Slob on Thursday expressed his support for the teacher and the Emmaus College. “It is terrible that the teacher had to go into hiding after a lesson on freedom of expression,” the minister wrote on Twitter. “We stand firmly behind this teacher.” But several teachers of Emmaus College no longer feel safe and the threatened teacher remains in hiding, according to sources. Worse still, says one teacher, the “girls” responsible for the smear campaign can go back to school as usual.
On Friday morning, the Rotterdam police arrested an 18-year-old woman on suspicion of issuing death threats. A post from her on social media had incited others to “commit criminal offenses towards Emmaus College and a teacher”.
On Sunday evening, a video surfaced of Sait Cinar shooting a large photo of Geert Wilders’ head with a firearm and declaring that it was a “cartoon”. Even apart from the man’s crime against the arts, the scene is reason enough for Geert Wilders to report it to law enforcement.
Within 24 hours Wilders received more than 100 Islamist death threats wanting to chop his head off, pour gasoline on him, put a bullet through his head, hang him, bomb or slaughter him.

  11. paul j watson – CORONAVIRUSChief Medical Officer Says Canadians Who Refuse Vaccine Won’t Have “Freedom to Move Around”

Suggests those who don’t take the shot will have to wear masks.

Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer says that those who refuse to take the COVID vaccine won’t have “freedom to move around” and will have to continue to wear masks.

Dr. David Williams was asked if he “would make some sort of mandatory vaccination recommendation.”

Williams acknowledged that “we can’t force someone to take a vaccine,” but when on to explain how people who didn’t take it would have their freedom of mobility severely restricted.

“What we can do is to say sometimes for access or ease of getting into certain settings, if you don’t have vaccination then you’re not allowed into that setting without other protection materials,” said Williams.

“What may be mandatory is proof of…vaccination in order to have latitude and freedom to move around…without wearing other types of personal protective equipment,” he added.

Williams also suggested that people would be prevented from entering certain settings without having been vaccinated if there was a “risk.”

As we previously highlighted, governments do not have to make the vaccine mandatory, they can simply make life unlivable for people who refuse to take the vaccine.

If bars, restaurants, cinemas, sports venues, airlines, employers and others all make the vaccination a mandatory condition of service, anyone who refuses to take it will be reduced to a personal form of de facto lockdown with their social lives and mobility completely stunted.

    • ctv news – Politicians not prioritized for early COVID-19 vaccine doses

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other political leaders of all levels will be waiting their turn to receive a COVID-19 vaccine like most other Canadians.

“We have really based our priorities on burden of illness, so people who have died most of the disease or have been most touched with complications, and frontline health-care workers, as well as Indigenous communities and remote communities. Political leaders are not part of these groups,” said Dr. Caroline Quach-Thanh, chair of the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) in an interview on CTV’s Question Period.

This of course, is not unexpected, as the latest advice from NACI— the group of medical, pharmaceutical and public health experts who make recommendations to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) on vaccines and vaccine-related issues—was to narrow down its priority list due to the small number of initial doses expected.

Under the revised recommendations, the advisory committee has identified four specific groups as the ones who should be considered for early immunization.

      – Residents and staff of long-term care, assisted living, retirement homes, and chronic-care hospitals;

      – Individuals of advanced age (starting with 80 years and older and expanding by five-year increments to age 70 years as doses become available);

      – Health-care and personal support workers, considering exposure risk and direct contact with patients; and

      – Indigenous communities

In a separate interview on CTV’s Question Period, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh criticized the government for not securing more doses that could be ready in the initial rollout, which is right now estimated to be six million doses by March 31, which is enough to vaccinate three million people.

“The census shows that seniors that are over 70 years of age, there are more… then the three million that the doses will cover,” Singh said. “The first round should have secured more.”

Asked earlier this week whether he’d be looking to get one of the early doses, Trudeau said that he’s “going to trust the experts to make the right determination of what the priority populations are.”

Discussions are continuing with the provinces as to how many doses of the initial tranche each will have access to.

Dr. Quach-Thanh said that while her team is offering the recommendations for who should get access to the first doses, “it is very possible that in the end, logistically and based on local epidemiology, provinces might decide to tweak a bit within the priorities.”

She also said that NACI is not recommending the COVID-19 vaccine be mandatory, nor is it the government’s plan to force anyone to be immunized.

  13. Biden vote fraud claims hit ONE MILLION in five key states, independent investigator says (express, Dec 5, 2020)
    https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/1368787/joe-biden-election-2020-vote-fraud-donald-trump-latest-news

“An independent human rights organisation has claimed that it has identified more than a million instances of potential fraud in five key states in the US Presidential election to support legal challenges to the presumptive victory for Joe Biden.

The Amistad Project of the Thomas More Society, which is a non-party political and not officially affiliated Trump campaign, has filed its latest motion in Arizona which Mr Biden won by just 10,477 votes. The group came to prominence when it put Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg at the heart of its last challenges last month making allegations that massive donations he made to the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL) was linked to funding voter fraud. According to expert data analysis for the Amistad Project more than 200,000 illegal votes were potentially cast for Mr Biden in the state while 100,000 legal ballots were not counted.

The allegations of fraud have been denied by the Biden team, Democrats and state officials, while yesterday legal challenges by the official Trump team in Nevada and Michigan were rejected by the courts.

But according to the independent Amistad Project, the data, compiled and analysed over the course of “weeks of rigorous investigation”, show that the total number of illegal ballots counted and legal ballots not counted likely exceeds 300,000 votes — 30 times more than the number of votes separating the presidential candidates.

In five closely fought states, including Arizona, Michigan and Pennsylvania, where the Amistad Project is challenging reported results, it claims its investigators have identified over a million instances of potential fraud.

“The number of potentially fraudulent ballots we’ve identified in Arizona is over 30 times greater than the margin separating Donald Trump and Joe Biden,” said Phill Kline, director of the Amistad Project.

“This is what happens when private interests are allowed to create a two-tiered election system unaccountable to the public.”

The Amistad Projects filed its complaints in Maricopa County, Arizona, which it claims received nearly $3 million from the CTCL, which received $350 million earlier this year from Mr Zuckerberg.

According to the complainant, this violates Arizona law, which does not allow election funding from sources other than taxation or federal grants.

According to Amistad Project, the private money, which paid the salaries of election workers and financed the purchase of voting equipment, also helped Maricopa County set up “public-private coordinated voter registration drives allowing private access directly to government voter registration files,” the motion alleges.

The money also allowed Maricopa County to engage in other allegedly unlawful practices, including taking pre-canvassing mail-in ballots and facilitating pre-election “curing” of flawed ballots.

Those advantages were not available to voters in counties that did not receive private financing.

The Amistad Project argues that the violations outlined in the litigation deprived voters of due process and equal protection, and rendered the results of the election null and void.

The latest challenge follows the Amistad Project unveiling a number of whistleblowers last week who have signed legal documents saying they are willing to testify to instances of voter fraud and running fraudulent votes across state lines.”

  15. Italian Police Break Up Migrant Smuggling Ring, Arrest 19 (breitbart, Dec 5, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/12/05/italian-police-break-up-migrant-smugging-ring-arrest-19/

“Italian police on Saturday arrested 19 suspects, dismantling what authorities say was a criminal organization that moved migrants from Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and Pakistan to Italy and then into northern Europe.

The investigation, led by prosecutors in Catania, Sicily, unveiled a network that involved hired or stolen sailboats transporting migrants via Turkey and Greece to Italy. Some then traveled north to the French border and were smuggled by vehicle into France, thanks to human smugglers based in border towns, police said in a statement.

The arrested suspects included Iraqi Kurds, Afghans and Italians, police said.

One of the alleged ring’s bases was in Bari, southern Italy, where false documents were issued indicating the migrants had housing, a requirement for residency permits. Other bases were in Milan and Turin in northern Italy as well as in the town of Ventimiglia, near the French border.

Others allegedly involved in the scheme falsified work contracts so the migrants could successfully apply for permission to reside in Italy, authorities said.

The investigation began in 2018, triggered by the arrival of 10 boats near the eastern Sicilian city of Syracuse. The boats had sailed from Turkey and Greece in the Eastern Mediterranean, and not from Libya, from where for years the majority of the hundreds of thousands of migrants had set out for Italy in traffickers’ unseaworthy vessels.

The investigation ascertained the activities of a network of Italians and foreigners, most of the latter holding residency permits issued on grounds of international protection, the police said. The ring was “dedicated to facilitating the entrance, stay and transit toward northern Europe of migrants coming from Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan.”

One suspect, police said, was about to transport migrants from the railroad station at Ventimiglia into France, one of the preferred destination countries for those being smuggled.

Skippers who were engaged to sail the boats to Sicily were paid about $1,000 (800 euros) per crossing, while migrants each paid about 6,000 euros ($7,200) to be smuggled from Asia, via Turkey and Greece, into Italy, the police said. The smuggling ring cracked by Italian authorities was an “essential link of connection with criminal groups active in Turkey and Greece,” police said.”

On Dec. 2, 2020, President Donald Trump delivered a speech that detailed some of the abuse and fraud in the 2020 general election, saying: “As president, I have no higher duty than to defend the laws and the Constitution of the United States. That is why I am determined to protect our election system, which is now under coordinated assault and siege.”

Our country was founded under George Washington’s leadership, as he led our army to win the War of Independence. We were fortunate to have President Abraham Lincoln, who kept us united by leading us through the Civil War. Now, our country faces a third fundamental challenge, one to ensure our continued freedom and the right to elect our leaders.

A judge in Antrim County, Michigan, has authorized a forensic audit of 22 Dominion Voting Systems machines, according to Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

“BIG WIN FOR HONEST ELECTIONS,” the former New York City Mayor wrote on Twitter on Dec. 4. “This is where the untrustworthy Dominion machine flipped 6,000 votes from Trump to Biden. Spiking of votes by Dominion happened all over the state.”

It is unclear which of the several election lawsuits the order originated from. The public dockets in four of the major election lawsuits in Michigan did not feature an order Giuliani described. Giuliani did not immediately respond to an emailed request for clarification.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi hinted Friday that the contested race for New York’s 22nd Congressional District may end up being reviewed by the House — like another disputed race in Iowa.

New York Democratic Rep. Anthony Brindisi was 28,422 votes behind former New York Republican Rep. Claudia Tenney on election night based on in-person ballots received during early voting on Election Day. But her massive lead disappeared to just 100 votes after almost 60,000 mail-in ballots were counted.

Both campaigns went to court to have a judge rule on disputes about more than 2,000 absentee and affidavit ballots. Although Brindisi commanded the recount by 12 votes several days ago, after more ballots were reviewed, the advantage swung back to Tenney, who now leads the contest by 12 votes.

In a bid to agree on strategy and maximize pressure on Joe Biden’s transition team, more than 100 far-left organizations, including Code Pink and Win Without War, held a Wednesday conference call “to try to get on the same page and make a more coherent pitch to the Biden team,” according to Politico. The organizations are preparing to recommend some 200 staffers who share these organizations’ foreign policy ideology, which includes rolling back sanctions on Iran and challenging American aid to Israel.

Nine months into the coronavirus pandemic, 13 states have no statewide mask requirement. U.S. Sen. Edward Markey wants to change that.

The recently re-elected Massachusetts senator has teamed up with his colleague Connecticut U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal on the Encouraging Masks for All Act, which would provide financial incentives for states to tell their residents to mask up.

The legislation would provide an additional $5 billion to the Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund for states that implement mask requirements. It would also make $75 million in grants available for states to use to promote mask mandates and provide face coverings to those who need them.

“We are entering the winter months with what many are calling potentially the darkest time in the pandemic,” Markey said Friday, the day after Massachusetts blew past its previous record high for daily new coronavirus cases. “The vaccine is around the corner and that gives us hope. But hope is not health — we can ensure our health by wearing a mask.”

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has a serious predicament: He wants his country to keep suffering as a third world democracy while he hopes to lure foreign investment at the same amounts and terms as a Western democracy. That will not happen. (Photo by Adem Altan/AFP via Getty Images)

It is his favorite cycle: President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an recklessly widens Turkey’s democratic deficit, weakens institutions, refuses to acknowledge democratic checks and balances. He isolates Turkey mostly from its Western alliances and follows an irredentist foreign policy of trying to reclaim supposedly “lost” land. Turkey is at odds with both the United States and Europe.

Inevitably, political isolation causes economic isolation. The economy is on a downfall. Investors flee the country. Voters start to complain about the double-digit inflation and interest rates; the lira falls and falls; unemployment rises sharply. Erdogan rediscovers his reformist self and promises to democratize — presumably hoping, in vain, that he can reverse the economic downfall.

He described Chávez, who ruled Venezuela from 1999 until his death in 2013, as a “new kind of dictator.” Upon his taking power, Chávez revised the country’s constitution to increase the presidential term of office from five to six years, but also allowed people to call off his presidency in a referendum, which required 20 percent of signatures of all 11 million voters.

By 2003, opponents of Chávez managed to collect enough signatures to trigger a referendum. “That’s when he started to panic,” the former intelligence official—who is also an expert in Latin American politics and counterterrorism—told The Epoch Times. “So he started talking to a company called Indra, which is a Spanish company that runs elections.”

  23. Evidence supports Sidney Powell’s claim about global election fraud
    By Andrea Widburg
    9-12 minutes

For the last two weeks, Sidney Powell was telling everyone she could prove that our election was decided abroad by bad actors. Tuesday’s news seemed to confirm those claims. A retired military analyst testified in Arizona that the U.S. has captured the information that was sent overseas. Also, a November 25 declaration from an active-duty military analyst was made public today, which says that, within five days of the election, the analyst was able to connect dominonvotingsystems.com, which is Dominion’s proprietary URL, to Belgrade, Iran, China — and Barack Obama.

I’ve been enjoying a delightful email conversation with Nick Chase, who’s written some deservedly lauded articles helping readers to understand how the voting machines could be used to send victory to Joe Biden. (See here, here, here, here, and here.) One of the things Nick explained to me is how information travels across the internet. I’m going to share his words with you because you’ll need them to understand how important this next bit of news is:
