Reader’s Links for November 13, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. FEC Chairman Says He Believes ‘There Is Voter Fraud’ in Key States
    By Jack Phillips

The chairman of the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) stated that he believes there is evidence of voter fraud and other alleged irregularities.

In a recent interview, FEC Chairman Trey Trainor said reports of fraud in some battleground states are credible “otherwise they would allow the [poll] observers to go in,” referring to reports of some polling areas refusing to allow GOP observers to check on the process on Election Day and the days after.

“When you have claims of, you know, 10,000 people who don’t live in the state of Nevada having voted in Nevada, you have the video … they’re (poll workers) either duplicating a spoiled ballot right there or they’re in the process of just marking a ballot that came in blank for a voter,” Trainor told Newsmax. “That’s a process that needs to be observed by election observers.”

In the interview, he agreed with Trump’s campaign lawsuits, while saying that questionable actions by elections officials in several states could make the election illegitimate.

In what is amounting to a significant victory for President Donald Trump’s campaign, a Pennsylvania judge ruled Thursday that the state may not count segregated ballots, saying the Secretary of State “lacked statutory authority” to override election law.

“[T]he Court concludes that Respondent Kathy Boockvar, in her official capacity as Secretary of the Commonwealth, lacked statutory authority to issue the November 1, 2020, guidance to Respondents County Boards of Elections insofar as that guidance purported to change the deadline …for certain electors to verify proof of identification,” stated Judge Mary Hannah Leavitt in the court order.

  3. Candace Owens blasts ‘despicable’ Obama book claiming Trump election was racist reaction
‘Blackout’ author calls Obama first president who left the White House ‘hating America’

The suggestion by former President Barack Obama that President Trump’s rise to power was a product of racism is “absolutely despicable,” author and activist Candace Owens told “Hannity” Thursday.

In his forthcoming memoir, “A Promised Land,” Obama claims Trump’s presidency was the result of “millions of Americans spooked by a Black man in the White House.”

Recalling Obama’s historic election in 2008, Owens told host Sean Hannity that the 44th president ran his campaign on the American Dream and was driven by a “kinetic energy” that has since been seemingly pushed aside.

  4. Europol takes Europe-wide action against online hate speech

The European Union’s law enforcement agency Europol this week coordinated an operation aimed at cracking down on racist and xenophobic messages online.

The action was led by the German Bundeskriminalamt, the federal criminal police, and also involved police in Czechia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Norway, Spain and the United Kingdom.

The operation was coordinated by Europol’s European Counter Terrorism Centre (ECTC).

The ECTC was created in 2016, and is described as “an operations centre and hub of expertise that reflects the growing need for the EU to strengthen its response to terror”. It now has more than 80 staff members as well as 14 experts seconded from member states.

As well as tackling terrorism, it also works closely with the European Cybercrime Centre and the European Migrant Smuggling Centre.

On the day of the operation, law enforcement in the nine countries raided 97 premises, including 81 homes in Germany alone. They detained a number of individuals for questioning in relation to the dissemination of racist and xenophobic hate speech, calls to violence and incitement to commit offences.

“The coordinated action targeted communities and individuals spreading hate via the internet using different types of content such as posts, comments, and memes that spread hate and propaganda,” Europol said in a statement.

“Law enforcement also worked together to increase the awareness of individuals and groups that the World Wide Web is not a legal vacuum. Supposed anonymity does not hinder law enforcement from taking measures against unlawful acts. This first joint action day on hate crimes sends a clear signal to individuals spreading violent hatred on the internet that their actions will be detected.”

As well as the nine member states taking part, others such as Finland helped raise awareness by posting messages about the subject on social media.

    • CBC – Montreal police confirm hoax triggered major police operation at Mile End Ubisoft offices

Specialized tactical officers evacuated building on St-Laurent Blvd. Friday afternoon

Montreal police sources have confirmed that a 911 call placed to police that resulted in a major police operation at the Mile End Ubisoft offices was a hoax.

Dozens of police officers were outside one of the buildings used by the tech company at the corner of St-Laurent Boulevard and St-Viateur Street on Friday afternoon, some of them heavily armed. Ambulances were also at the scene.

Specialized tactical officers evacuated the building Friday afternoon. No one was injured, and no threat was detected, police say. They say the operation began in response to a 911 call earlier Friday afternoon.

Dozens of people on the roof of the red-brick building could be seen early in the afternoon, and the door opening onto the roof was barricaded from the outside with large objects.

  6. Germany: Hundreds demonstrate against planned “Quran-burning” rally in Berlin

Around 300 protesters rallied to stand up against a planned right-wing demonstration, called by Danish far-right party Stram Kurs (‘Hard Line’) , which intended to burn a copy of the Quran in Berlin’s Neukolln district, on Friday.

According to the police, the protest registered by Stram Kurs eventually did not take place.

Counter-protesters on the other hand showed up in hundreds with banners reading ‘Neukolln is no backdrop for right-wing civil war fantasy’ and ‘Stand up to hate speech.’

“We are in a multi-cultural society, we accept the freedom of opinion, one can also say their opinion, but to burn something, it doesn’t matter which book, we are absolutely against that,” said Raed Zaloum, the president of the Islamic Culture and Education Centre.

Party leader Rasmus Paludan was reportedly arrested in France before being expelled.

He had already been refused entry by police two weeks ago for planning a similar demonstration in Neukolln. A day later, the right-wing extremist politician is reported to have attempted to return by land to Berlin, but was arrested in front of the Nordic embassy. He was given an entry ban valid until October 31.

The same Quran-burning action was planned to be staged in Paris, Berlin and Brussels.

  7. ‘What Withdrawal?’ Senior Official Boasts About Openly Lying to Trump to Keep US Troops in Syria (sputniknews, Nov 13, 2020)
    https://sputniknews.com/middleeast/202011131081158526-what-withdrawal-senior-official-boasts-about-openly-lying-to-trump-to-keep-us-troops-in-syria/

“In late 2018, Donald Trump ordered the immediate withdrawal of almost all US troops from Syria within 90 days. He repeated the order in October 2019. Several hundred US troops remain in Syria to this day, notwithstanding the president’s executive decisions.

Jim Jeffrey, outgoing US special representative for Syria and special presidential envoy for the Western coalition against Daesh (ISIS),* has frankly admitted that he and members of his staff deliberated obfuscated and covered up the true size of the US military footprint in Syria from the president.

“We were always playing shell games to not make clear to our leadership how many troops we had there,” Jeffrey said, speaking to Defense One.

“What Syria withdrawal? There was never a Syria withdrawal,” the veteran diplomat cheekily added, referring to Trump’s repeated orders in late 2018 and then again in 2019 to bring US troops home.

“When the situation in northeast Syria had been fairly stable after we defeated ISIS, [Trump] was inclined to pull out. In each case, we then decided to come up with five better arguments for why we needed to stay. And we succeeded both times. That’s the story,” Jeffrey boasted.

He added that the real number of US troops in Syria today is “a lot more” than the estimated 200-400 Trump agreed to leave behind in 2019 to “secure” the country’s oil fields and prevent them from falling into the hands of the Syrian government or the terrorists.

Jeffrey, 74, served as US ambassador to Iraq under Barack Obama, and as deputy national security advisor to George W. Bush. In August 2016, he joined nearly 50 other Republican national security officials in signing a letter suggesting Trump was not qualified to be president and would put American security at risk if he won. Trump appointed him to his administration anyway in 2018. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced on Monday that Jeffrey would be retiring later this month.

Jeffrey praised Trump for achieving what he described as a “stalemate” in multiple Middle Eastern conflicts, but said he stood by his decision to add his signature to the 2016 letter attacking Trump. He also encouraged Joe Biden, Trump’s possible successor, to ‘stay the course’ laid out by him and other members of the Trump administration. He warned Biden not to try to engage in Bush-style nation-building in Syria. “I think the stalemate we’ve put together is a step forward and I would advocate it,” he stressed.

Biden is known to have been an active proponent within the Obama administration of the CIA’s ‘Operation Timber Sycamore’ to provide arms, supplies and training to the thousands of jihadist militants who signed up to fight the Syrian government starting in 2012. The covert operation was closed down by the Trump administration in 2017.

Commenting on the Defence One Story, CNN anchor Jim Sciutto noted that senior Pentagon officials told him similar stories about how they “fooled” Trump into leaving troops in Syria indefinitely.

“If you look at his tweets, they were definitive about leaving. And then we didn’t leave. And now we haven’t left, we’re still there, and that’s a good thing,” Sciutto quoted one unnamed official as saying…”

  8. Georgia GOP Calls on Secretary of State to Revisit Audit Protocols: ‘Does This Inspire Confidence?’
    By Jack Phillips

Georgia election officials are slated to start a hand count of presidential election votes starting on Friday, but Georgia GOP Chairman David Shafer and Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.) said there are several outstanding issues.

“You stated yesterday that the process would be ‘an audit, a recount and a recanvass all at once’ and would help ‘build public confidence,’” they said in a letter to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. “However, the training and directives issued today do not comport with your stated goals yesterday and do not satisfy our concerns that gave rise to our request for a hand count in the first place,” wrote Shafer and Collins.

They noted that Raffensperger’s office said that counties have to certify their results by 5 p.m. on Friday, meaning that an audit and hand recount are irrelevant.v

  9. Minneapolis Police Chief Pleads for Outside Help to Fight Violent Crime Surge

Amid a sharp rise of violent crime incidents in the city of Minneapolis, council members held a meeting on Tuesday after Police Chief Medaria Arradondo plead for assistance from outside police forces to help with their shortage in staff.

“Resources are hemorrhaging. Our city is bleeding at this moment. I’m trying to do all I can to stop that bleeding,” Minneapolis Chief Arradondo said, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported.

Minneapolis residents also urged city leaders to find a strategy to reduce violent crime incidents in the city as the statistics are showing the highest numbers in at least 15 years, with 74 people dead and about 500 wounded by gunfire in 2020.

The staff shortage in the force comes after dozens of officers have left the department. Officials voted to cut the department’s budget by $1 million earlier this year and also threatened to dismantle the entire force and replace it.

  12. Bangladesh: Protesters call for boycott of France at Dhaka rally

Hundreds of protesters rallied in central Dhaka on Friday to demonstrate the outrage of the Muslim community over the caricature of Prophet Mohammad published in the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo.

The protesters called for an immediate closure of the French embassy and a boycott of French products in the country in revenge for what they consider a blasphemous insult. Some activists were seen stamping on images of French President Emmanuel Macron and beating pictures of him with their shoes.

The leader of an Islamist political party Bangladesh Talime Hezbullah, Muhammad Mahmudur Rahman, addressed the masses outside the Baitul Mukkaram National Mosque.

“I want to inform all the non-believers to stop this conspiracy, you should stop this kind of activity. Otherwise you will have to face extreme defeat at the hands of the Muslims,” Rahman said during a threatening address.

“There are two ways, either you embrace Islam or we will put your throat under the sword,” he went on to say.

WASHINGTON—The former data and strategy director for President Donald Trump’s 2016 election campaign has canceled his vacation plans to comb through election data for voter fraud.

Matt Braynard and his wife had planned to be in the Dominican Republic, but “right now, this is where I’m needed,” he said on YouTube on Nov. 8.

Braynard has assembled a team to look for inconsistencies in the six contested states—Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Nevada.

So far, they’ve identified 1.25 million voter issues that they’re following up on through phone calls and against other databases.

The largest issue they’ve found so far is with voters who had submitted a National Change of Address form to the post office indicating they moved out of state, yet appear to have voted in 2020 in the state they moved from.

When the founders of our newspaper fled a communist regime to come to America, they never expected that this great nation would one day become the focal point of the battle between communism and freedom.

Many Americans believe communism is an abstract concept, something that only affects faraway nations, without realizing that it has already arrived at our doorstep.

Communism has spread in America under names such as socialism, progressivism, liberalism, neo-Marxism, and so on, in a slow process over decades of systematic subversion by first the Soviet Union, and now the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

This cumulative battle for the future of America—and with it, the rest of the world—is now coming to a head in the U.S. presidential election.

This is a conflict that transcends partisanship and party affiliation.
