Reader’s Links fo November 10, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. No state is safe. That was a tough lesson Democrats learned after losing the 2016 presidential election.
Michigan, part of what was considered the Democrats’ reliable blue wall of the industrial upper Midwest, became an important symbol of Hillary Clinton’s loss in her 2016 presidential bid, prompting soul searching within the party about how it had lost the white working-class vote.

But the state is also home to the country’s largest concentrations of Arabs and Muslims, who would four years later help flip Michigan back to the Democrats by an even wider margin than Donald Trump’s 2016 win.

“There’s no doubt that the Arab American community showed up for Biden. We delivered,” says Sirene Abou-Chakra, a volunteer for Arab Americans for Biden, who works as chief development officer for the city of Detroit. “I feel like this is the first time I’ve been able to exhale in four years.”

  2. Why Trump Shouldn’t Concede
It’s a contested election, and neither candidate has been officially declared the winner.

Like the Potemkin villages quickly erected to hide the squalor in which Russian peasants lived during the reign of Catherine the Great, a façade of legitimacy is under construction by the Fourth Estate to cover up the widespread voting irregularities and outright fraud that gave us “President-Elect Biden.” Never mind that the election was prematurely called for our erstwhile vice president by the same “news” media that steadfastly refused to report his well-documented history of racism, influence peddling, serial plagiarism, and conspicuous cognitive decline. They now expect the electorate to accept their word that Biden has won the presidency — a month before he is actually elevated to that office by the Electoral College.

Even worse, having called the election for Biden without any legal or moral authority to do so, they are now hectoring President Trump to concede. USA Today, for example, declares: “The whole world is watching, waiting for Trump to concede.” We are told that such concessions are an honored American tradition. This takes no small amount of chutzpah, considering that the media never accepted his legitimacy. Instead, they actively abetted Democrat attempts to remove him from office by dishonestly “reporting” the Russia collusion hoax and the impeachment farce. More importantly, calls for Trump’s concession are potentially dangerous. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) explains:

  4. Amnesty Urges US to Halt MQ-9B Drone Sale to UAE
    https://www.thedefensepost.com/2020/11/10/us-uae-drone-sale-amnesty/

“The US’ plan to sell 18 MQ-9B drones to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) could increase the death toll of Yemeni and Libyan civilians, Amnesty International warned.

“These US drones could be responsible for UAE attacks that violate international humanitarian law and kill, as well as injure, thousands of Yemeni civilians already bearing the brunt of one of the world’s most devastating humanitarian catastrophes,” said Philippe Nassif, the advocacy director for the Middle East and North Africa at Amnesty International USA.

Amnesty further said that ground investigations of various sites in Yemen where the Saudi Arabia and UAE-led coalition carried out airstrikes revealed that the munitions used for the strikes were manufactured by US firms.

The organization also alleged that the UAE, through the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, has used armed drones in Libya to break the long-standing UN arms embargo, and has targeted civilian targets including houses, field hospitals, and ambulances.

The international non-profit said the $2.9 billion deal will allow US contractors to sell more arms and ammunition to these countries and fuel more bloodshed in the region.

It appealed to the US to refrain from transferring the weapons to the UAE, or risk being complicit in likely war crimes in the region.”

  5. Nigeria Takes Delivery of Chinese Drones to Combat Insurgency, Armed Banditry
    https://www.thedefensepost.com/2020/11/10/nigeria-wing-loong-drones/

“Four Chinese-made Wing Loong II combat drones have reportedly arrived in Nigeria to take part in ongoing counter-insurgency and anti-banditry operations in the country’s restive northwest region.

This comes a month after Nigeria’s Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, reportedly revealed that his country had concluded the purchase of eight armed, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) from China.

The remaining four UAVs are expected to arrive before the end of the year.

Wing Loong II, designed and manufactured by Chengdu Aircraft Design & Research Institute, was primarily developed for China’s People’s Liberation Army Air Force for surveillance and reconnaissance missions.

However, it can also be armed with a variety of weapons including laser-guided bombs and missiles such as the AKD-10 air-to-surface anti-tank missile, BRMI-90 90mm guided rocket, FT-7/130 small 130kg bomb with planar wing, and FT-9/50 50kg bombs.

    Operation Hadarin Daji
“Nigeria has joined China & UAE as the only countries operating the WingLoong II Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle,” said Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola in a tweet on Tuesday. The Wing Loong II can remain airborne for 31 hours in intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance mode, and for 26 hours in offensive mode, the official added.

The Nigerian armed forces are currently conducting operation Hadarin Daji against armed bandits in Zamfara state.

A mineral-rich state, Zamfara has attracted illegal mining and groups of armed bandits who steal livestock and other essentials from villagers in the area.

Thousands of people have fled the region and hundreds have lost their lives.

The drones are based in Zamfara’s capital, Gusau, where a new runway and ancillary facilities are being constructed to support its operations.

The aircraft’s area of operation will cover several states including Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Kastina, and some parts of Kaduna state.”

“Saudi Arabia’s Council of Senior Scholars said on Tuesday that the Muslim Brotherhood is a terrorist outfit that does not represent the Islamic way of life, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

“The Brotherhood pursues its partisan goals that contradict the guidance of our true religion, and it is causing discord and inciting sedition, violence, and terrorism that are contrary to the teachings of Islam,” the council said in a statement quoting verses from the Holy Qur’an and Tradition of the Prophet (peace be upon him).

The council warned against the Muslim Brotherhood, saying that it is a deviant group that seeks to fight with the guardians and calls for rebellion against the rulers. “This group incites sedition in countries, undermines coexistence in one nation, and makes Islamic societies look ignorant. Ever since its inception, this group has not shown interest either in the Islamic faith or in the sciences of the Holy Book and the Sunnah, but rather its goal is to grab power,” the statement said.

“The history of the Muslim Brotherhood is full of evils and strife. The extremist terrorist groups, which emerged out of its womb, ravaged countries and people with violence and terrorism around the world,” the council said while calling on all to be wary of this group and not to be associated with it.”

“The United Kingdom’s media regulator has taken action against Abu Dhabi TV for broadcasting an interview with a former Qatari detainee which was conducted against his will.

Ofcom ruled that the UAE-based channel violated its policies by airing an interview with Mahmoud al-Jaidah, a Qatari medical doctor who was detained in Abu Dhabi in 2013.

The media regulator also confirmed it would impose legal sanctions on the channel, a move prompting praise from the Doha-based National Human Rights Committee.

“[We consider] this decision as an initial step in achieving justice and redress for the Qatari citizen, who has been subjected to arbitrary arrest, torture and degrading treatment by the authorities in the United Arab Emirates and Abu Dhabi TV which accused him and the state of Qatar of terrorism,” the rights group said in a statement.

  10. Austria arrests 30 Hamas, Muslim Brothehood members, in crackdown on Islamism
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20201110-austria-arrests-30-hamas-muslim-brothehood-members-in-crackdown-on-islamism/

“Austrian police arrested 30 people suspected of being radical Islamists yesterday as part of the government’s “war on Islamism”, the Times reported.

The individuals were apprehended during a series of pre-dawn raids, collectively termed ‘Operation Luxor’, conducted by almost 1,000 police officers, including special forces, counterterrorism personnel and dog handlers.

The raids, which were conducted simultaneously around the country at 5am yesterday, focused on the Austrian branches of Hamas, the Palestinian group, and the Muslim Brotherhood, a transnational Islamist organisation.

More than 70 individuals are currently being investigated, according to the Times, though only 30 were arrested during yesterday’s raids.

Police also seized smartphones, documents, computers and large sums of cash, but no weapons or explosives, the report said.

Bank accounts and other financial assets belonging to the 30 detainees have been frozen, the state prosecutor in Graz said, with the aim of tracing money flows that may be used to finance terrorism.

The operation comes after four people were killed and 22 wounded in a Daesh-inspired terror attack in central Vienna on 2 November.

Though ‘Operation Luxor’ was reportedly planned before the attack last week, the crackdown has been seen as part of Austria’s “war on Islamism”, called for by Chancellor Sebastian Kurz after the deadly gun rampage.

Kurz, at the time, told German newspaper Die Welt: “Islamist extremism wants to divide our society. This hatred should not be given space. The enemy are extremists and terrorists, not immigrants. There must be no tolerance of intolerance.”

The state has already shut down two mosques in the capital which authorities believe the gunman, Kujtim Fejzulai, frequented and arrested two suspected associates.

The Austrian Chancellor is expected to travel to Paris today for a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron as the pair seek to build a European front to counter political Islam.

The pair will also meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen to discuss efforts to eradicate Islamist terrorism on the continent.

Kurz said: “The threat from Islamist terror affects all of us in Europe, as we have recently seen through the attacks in France and in many other European countries in the past.”

“We must remorselessly pursue both Islamist threats to public safety and the ideology that lies behind them.””

“The Turkish intelligence neutralized a senior PKK terrorist abroad, who was behind a 2016 terror attack that killed 12 Turkish police officers, security sources said on Nov. 9.

Mesut Ta?k?n, codenamed Demhat Sperti, was neutralized by Turkey’s National Intelligence Service (MIT) abroad on Oct. 20, said the sources who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

The terrorist was the plotter of the terror attack near the local police department in the Cizre district of southeastern ??rnak province. The August 2016 attack martyred 12 police officers and wounded 75 others.

Ta?k?n is also known for organizing transfer of explosives that were used against security forces in separate terror attacks in the southeastern Diyarbakir province in 2016 and 2017.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU – has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.”

“The EU and its member countries on Tuesday refused to attend a conference organized by the Syrian Bashar al-Assad regime in Damascus.

“A number of EU member states’ foreign ministers and the High Representative have received an invitation to a conference on the theme of refugee returns, on 11-12 November, in Damascus. The EU and its member states will not attend this conference,” the European Council announced in a written statement.

The statement underlined its view that the priority should be to create conditions for a safe, voluntary, dignified and sustainable return of refugees and internally displaced persons to their areas of origin.

The EU said the regime’s conference would be “premature,” adding that the conditions inside Syria were not suitable for “large-scale voluntary returns.”

“We reiterate therefore our urgent call on the regime and its sponsors to engage fully and in good faith in the work of the Constitutional Committee, as well as in all other issues mentioned in UNSC Resolution 2254, notably the release of detainees,” it added.”

“As part of a larger case involving Syrians, a German citizen is also suing Bashar Assad’s security apparatus. Martin Lautwein says he witnessed abuse and killings of other inmates during his 48 days detained in Damascus.

Aid worker Martin Lautwein said only his German passport and Czech diplomatic intervention freed him from Syrian intelligence service brutality in 2018, enabling him and an Australian friend to return home.

“Now, I want to use my privilege to make people in Germany aware of what happens every day in Syria,” Lautwein said in remarks published by the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR) in Berlin Tuesday.

Germany’s federal prosecutions office in Karlsruhe said Lautwein’s case had been the subject of investigations over the past two years.

The ECCHR said Lautwein had become joint plaintiff to charges filed in 2017 with German federal prosecutors by 13 “torture survivors” from Syria, directed at high-ranking functionaries in Syria’s military intelligence services.

“French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday urged a “rapid and coordinated” European response to terror attacks that have plagued the continent in recent years.

Such a response should focus on “the development of common databases, the exchange of information or the strengthening of criminal policies,” he said after hosting a video conference with fellow EU leaders.

The online summit came a week after a convicted Islamic State group supporter killed four people in a shooting rampage in the heart of Vienna, following hot on the heels of last month’s attack on a church in the French city of Nice and the beheading of a teacher in a Paris suburb two weeks before that.

  19. Security analyst: Terrorism is linked to migration waves
    https://rmx.news/article/article/security-analyst-terrorism-is-linked-to-migration-waves

“Every religion has its radical or extremist branches but, at least on the European continent, no religion is as aggressive and inclines to terrorism more than Islam, according to security analyst Josef Kraus from Masaryk University in Brno.

In the Rozst?el program broadcasted on iDNEScz, Josef Kraus talked mainly about the latest terrorist attacks on the European continent.

“These are still sporadic and relatively short-range attacks, carried out by a smaller number of people. On the other hand, we can talk about a growing trend,” warned the analyst, adding that we can indeed see that religiously motivated violence and terrorism on the European continent have increased dramatically in the last few years.

The impact of migration on terrorism in Europe
According to Kraus, the inclination to radicalism goes hand in hand with the migration waves that have arrived in Europe — and it does not matter whether it was in the last ten years or throughout the twentieth century. With the Muslim population of Europe potentially tripling in the next 30 years to 75 million, according to Pew Research, there are fears from experts like Kraus that terrorism could become even more of a threat.

According to Kraus, radicals consider the West, the Western way of life, or even the people of Western European countries to be the most obvious enemies of Islam. In addition to mosques or pulpits of radical imams, prisons are a typical place where Muslims are radicalized.

“People commit a simple crime (car theft) and get behind bars. That is a place with the best conditions for religious radicalization. And when these people are released, they have a clear vision of who is to blame for their problems and how to solve them. That is, through violence,” Kraus said.

Islam has tendencies towards radicalization in recent years
Throughout the history of the 20th and 21st centuries, according to Kraus, we can see that virtually every world religion has its own radical or extremist branch.

“But if we put aside other factors, in the last 20 years, we can say fully and openly that no religious movement other than Islam is so aggressive and has been a source of such a violence, including terrorism, at least on the European continent,” he added.

According to Kraus, each of the imams who spread radical Islam in Europe has their own story, but a similar pattern can be found in their activities.

“The pattern is worrisome. It should not happen, and it is a big problem for European states which allow it and thus help to spread Islamic terrorism on their territory. These [imams] are often people who emigrated from their country because they were called religious extremists, and the local security forces were after them,” said Kraus.

“They left their country for fear of their safety and found asylum in the West. And there, they continue to spread their extremist version of religion. They would not be able to do that in their home countries,” Kraus pointed out.

According to Kraus, Europe has so far been imprudent when it comes to accepting radical imams.

“These radicals will prove in the asylum procedure that they would be threatened with persecution in their countries on the grounds of political or religious beliefs. Europeans strive to comply with international law and grant asylum to those who have the right to it. But by doing so, they are sacrificing their security because they are helping to spread extreme forms of Islam among communities in their own countries,” he explained.

Asylum policy and money from the Saudis
Kraus thinks that Europe should tighten this form of asylum policy. The admission of controversial asylum seekers should go hand in hand with repression measures. So, if such an imam starts breaking the law, European countries should expel him.

According to Kraus, it is also concerning how radical imams are financed in Europe.

“The most important donor in the case of Sunni Islam is Saudi Arabia. In Europe, it funds several organizations that operate, for example, as charities, help people, build schools. But at the same time, it finances religious enlightenment, which, in the case of Saudi Arabia, can be described as fundamentalist, orthodox, and also a radical-extremist version of Wahhabist Islam, which is the state religion in Saudi Arabia,” Kraus explained.

According to the security expert, Shiite extremists are connected to Iran, which Kraus said is not nearly as aggressive as Saudi Arabia.

    Why Austria?
Kraus also says he has thought about why the latest terrorist attack happened in Austria, a country which, unlike France, Belgium or Germany, has not yet been referred to as a place where Islamic radicalism would be on the rise.

“Austria began to open up to migrants at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s. So the Islamic community here does not consist of Arabs, like in France, or the Kurds and Turks, like in Germany, but they are mostly the North Caucasians, Chechens, and Dagestanians. There are also the Bosnians and the Muslim Yugoslavs, who came to Austria as refugees during the Yugoslav conflict. And quite often, it is not even the people who have fled their countries, but it is their children who pose a potential danger,” Kraus explained.

“These are second-generation immigrants who are much more difficult to work with because they were born in the country and have local citizenship, but there is still a social distance between them and the majority population,” Kraus concluded.”

President Donald Trump won the state of North Carolina in the 2020 election, according to a new projection.

Decision Desk on Tuesday projected that Trump has won the state and its 15 electoral votes.

The organization also projected Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) has beaten Democrat challenger Cal Cunningham, which would give Republicans 49 seats in the 100-member body with three races left uncalled or in runoffs.

According to the current unofficial count, Trump has received 2.73 million votes, compared to Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s 2.65 million votes.

Requests for comment sent to the campaigns of Trump and Biden weren’t immediately returned.

  22. Republican State Lawmaker Proposes Plan To Make Okla. A Second Amendment Sanctuary State

Some Republican state lawmakers are drafting legislation that they say will protect gun rights in Oklahoma when presumptive President-elect Joe Biden takes office.

Biden’s plan includes a ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, similar to the assault weapons ban of 1994; it would regulate possession of existing assault weapons under the National Firearms Act; the plan would also buy back the assault weapons and high-capacity magazines already in our communities; and require background checks for all gun sales and end the online sale of firearms and ammunition.

State Sen. Nathan Dahm, R-Broken Arrow said he’s working on legislation that would make Oklahoma a Second Amendment sanctuary state.

“Meaning that those cities, those states, those counties that enact this will not implement any unconstitutional gun control measures,” Dahm said.

Dahm said he is also considering language that would prevent police from enforcing gun control measures.

  23. A Stolen Election Breaks the Republic
The 2020 election calls into question the fundamental social contract underpinning America.

This week the Trump campaign will presumably outline the case, by presenting evidence of electoral chicanery, that the true results of the 2020 election are not those that have been reported by the news media.

They’ve stolen your consent to be governed, if this election was fraudulently decided. How are the actions of a fraudulently installed presidential administration thus legal?

Team Trump should not be ignored. The evidence presented cannot be ignored. It must be vetted, observed, and adjudicated. The media’s characterization of Trump as whining or acting as a sore loser is invalid and inappropriate.

Because as the president noted, this is about far more than his election. This involves the very existence of American government. It’s the very lives we lead that are at stake.

Let’s understand what our republic is. It’s a contract between our people, and between our state governments, who are the ultimate sovereigns, and the federal government.

The Iranian regime has excitingly announced former U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden’s possible victory in the US presidential elections and is celebrating that the next US administration will, they hope, be from the Democrat Party.

Iranian authorities view the chance that Biden might take over the White House as a definite win for Tehran. Hesameddin Ashena, an advisor to Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani, tweeted that Iranians “stood their ground bravely until that coward’s time [Donald Trump] came to leave”. Headlines in the state-controlled newspapers, which celebrated the news, included, “World without Trump!” (Aftabe Yazd newspaper), “Mr Withdrawal is Close to Being Kicked Out of White House”, “Go to Hell You Gambler!” (Sobhe Now newspaper) “Trump’s Card No Longer Valid for Media!” (Aftabe Yazd newspaper), “The Bankrupt US President Got Humiliated” (Mardom Salari newspaper), and “Trump Must Leave” (Donyaye Eghtesad newspaper).

The last three years has indeed been a nightmare for the Iranian regime and its proxies. No US administration before the current one has imposed such a draconian pressure on the mullahs, their rogue state and their allies.

At the beginning, President Donald J. Trump pulled the US out of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), commonly known as the Iran nuclear deal, which Iran never signed and which paves the way for Iran to have nuclear weapons. Then, the Trump administration re-imposed primary and secondary sanctions on Iran’s energy, banking and shipping sectors. During the last two years, several other Iranian entities were added to the sanction list. The killing of General Qassem Soleimani was also a huge blow to Iran’s regime, particularly the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its proxies across the Middle East.

The sanctions, in fact, have imposed significant pressure on the Iranian government — to such an extent that the Iranian leaders have had to cut their funding to their allies, militia and terror groups.

  25. BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: Analysis of Election Night Data from All States Shows MILLIONS OF VOTES Either Switched from President Trump to Biden or Were Lost — Using Dominion and Other Systems
    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/11/breaking-exclusive-analysis-election-night-data-states-shows-millions-votes-either-switched-president-trump-biden-lost/

“We’ve reported on numerous events in the 2020 election which are being referred to as system ‘glitches’ in the media.

Last night we provided another ‘glitch’, this time in Wisconsin, which if reversed would eliminate Biden’s reported vote lead in the state.

Tonight we have obtained an unaudited analysis of data available for all the states looking for system glitches and other oddities in vote counts related to the Presidential race only.

Last night we reported on another so called system ‘glitch’, this time in a county in Wisconsin. Evidence was provided to us that showed that the vote totals for Rock County appeared to be switched between President Trump and Joe Biden. 9,516 votes were eliminated from President Trump and moved to Joe Biden. This 19,032 vote difference when corrected would eliminate Biden’s lead in Wisconsin.

In the post last night we also identified issues we’ve reported on in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia where similar ‘glitches’ occurred.

We next attempted to obtain more data on this issue so we could determine how widespread this issue may be and/or if there are reasonable explanations for what is occurring.

Then tonight we were led to a site on the Internet (https://thedonald(.)win/p/11Q8O2wesk/happening-calling-every-pede-to-/) where someone who had seen our posts decided to do an analysis himself.

In the piece the author claims his work is a full list of votes switched from Trump to Biden or votes erased by Dominion (the vote machines used in many states across the US).

(The author claims that his work has been verified but we have not verified the results so we currently are labeling his results “unaudited.”)

The author decided to obtain the data himself and perform an analysis of national votes switched from Trump to Biden and votes erased (the total amount of votes counted decreased by that amount throughout the counting).

The author obtained data that has been passed around that was reportedly captured by the New York Times on election night.

By examining the data the author was able to locate an instance where votes were switched from Trump to Biden so he decided to perform an analysis on the entire data set, starting with the states where Dominion voting machines are used.

The author also claims that the data is from Edison Research and it is the same data that is used for election coverage by at least ABC News, CBS News, CNN and NBC News.

    https://sputniknews.com/us/202011101081122292-ilhan-omars-campaign-paid-nearly-28-mln-to-husbands-firm-finance-reports-show/

“Omar married Tim Mynett, a political consultant, in March 2020, but claimed her relationship with him began long before he started working for her campaign and there were “no legal issues”.

Democrat Ilhan Omar’s campaign has paid almost $2.8 million to her husband Tim Mynett’s firm in 2019-2020 so far, the latest Federal Election Commission (FEC) data showed.

According to the data, Omar, who won re-election to the House last week, reported paying $1.6 million to Mynett’s political consulting firm – E Street Group LLC – from 2019 through 22 July, and later filed $1.1 million and $27,000, respectively.

In March 2020, Omar officially announced her marriage to Mynett, following lengthy speculations in the media about their possible affair. The Democrat defended her relationship with Mynett, claiming that started dating long before he became a political consultant for her own campaign, which, however, assumes their affair could have been taking place when they were both still married.

In a series of tweets posted on 17 March, Omar called those scrutinising her campaign’s finance reports “trolls”, adding that an attorney told her there are no violations concerning her relationship with Mynett.

In accordance with American law, relatives of the members of Congress are allowed to engage in campaign work, though there could be some moral concerns, given the amount of money involved in the campaigning.”
