Reader’s Links for November 8, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

“A man who had allegedly stabbed his maternal aunt to death in Shah Faisal Colony was arrested by police late on Friday night.

The suspect, Imran, had reportedly stabbed his aunt, Rukhsana, over a monetary dispute earlier the same day, fleeing from the scene immediately afterwards. Rukhsana sustained critical injuries and succumbed to her wounds while receiving treatment at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

The investigation police later apprehended Imran. According to the police, Imran confessed in his initial statement that he had attacked Rukhsana because she had refused to lend him money to start a business. Further investigation is underway.”

  4. Intelligence services: Islamic terrorism has never disappeared from Europe
    https://rmx.news/article/article/intelligence-services-islamic-terrorism-has-never-disappeared-from-europe

“According to intelligence services, the threat of terrorist attacks in Europe is “long-term.” Radical Islamism has not disappeared in recent years, but most attacks have not become known to the wide public due to the low number of victims. Rather than extensive attacks, the current problem is the terrorist acts of individuals that are difficult to predict.

The murder of the teacher in Paris, the massacre in the church in Nice, and the terrorist attack in the center of Vienna on Monday are just a few examples of attacks in recent weeks. Besides them, there were several other incidents, which have since been forgotten, such as the machete attack in Dresden or violence and murders in the French suburbs.

With the number of terrorist attacks increasing, the question often arises: Is a new wave of violence motivated by radical Islam coming to Europe?

Intelligence services agree that, in principle, this is not the case, as Islamic terrorism has never actually disappeared from Europe. According to them, the perception that there have been less attacks in the last two to three years has merely been due to the public not being aware of the real numbers and ongoing threat. Although there have been less large-scale and organized attacks, as in 2015 and 2016, they have been replaced by several smaller terrorist attacks, which, due to the low number of victims, have often not become known to the wider public. On top of that, security forces have also managed to prevent many attacks.

The intelligence services point out that the mood among radical Muslims has recently reached a boiling point. Terrorist organizations are increasingly calling on their supporters to organize attacks and die a martyr’s death. Encouragements to attack also take place in mosques and on online platforms. According to experts, the propaganda of radical Islam is still spreading fast, regardless of the defeat of the Islamic State in the Middle East. Furthermore, various instructions on how to make explosives are circulating freely on the internet, along with motivational texts so that jihadists are not afraid to use the weapons against “unbelievers.”

According to German counterintelligence, the chance of a terrorist attack in Europe is “long-term high.” In Germany alone, authorities expect there are 30,000 followers of radical Islam. Also, at least 300 jihadists returned to the country from Syria and Iraq after the defeat of the Islamic State.

One of the current issues is that European authorities often register more potential terrorists than their intelligence services are able to track. Another problem is that attacks have become less and less predictable in recent years. Whereas until a few years ago, terrorists were connected to terrorist organizations in Syria, Iraq or Afghanistan, now they are more likely to be independent individuals who radicalize on their own discreetly, in mosques, or over the internet. Also, many are not even on the list of dangerous people, and to carry out an attack, all they have to do is go to the nearest shop and purchase a kitchen knife.

But Monday’s attack in Vienna also showed a failure on the part of the Austrian government. The attacker, a 20-year-old Albanian from North Macedonia with Austrian citizenship, was already sentenced to prison last year while trying to cross into Syria and fight for the Islamic State. He was released prematurely as a juvenile, underwent a deradicalization program, and was to remain under strict supervision. Nevertheless, he murdered four people in the center of Vienna and wounded 23 others, at least seven of them seriously.

It is also unclear how he obtained the two firearms, also seen with him in a photo he had posted on a social network before the attack. Traces led to Slovakia, which claims it warned the Austrian authorities about a suspicious trip this past summer.

Intelligence services also predict that radical Islamists have been recently encouraged to increase their activity by the cartoons of the Charlie Hebdo satirical weekly as well as by the assurance of President Emmanuel Macron that France will not restrict art, satire, and freedom of speech. After all, it is Macron, together with Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, who is now calling on other European states to take firm action against Islamic terrorism and to reconsider “false tolerance.””

CATHOLIC SCHOLAR SPINS JIHADI BEHEADING: Considine pushes fiction of Muhammad’s non-violence against mockers

A Catholic sociologist is whitewashing Muhammad’s violent response to people who mocked him as thousands rallied across France Sunday to honor a schoolteacher who was beheaded for showing cartoons of Muhammad to his students.
Pictures of Paty’s decapitated body were found online

“Prophet Muhammad was defamed, insulted, mocked and violently attacked by those who opposed him. How did he respond?” asks Dr. Craig Considine, lecturer at Rice University, Houston, Texas.
“By remaining calm, ignoring the insults and focusing on his mission. Responding with violence was never an option,” Considine replies.
“The Paris beheading is an affront to his teachings,” declared the Catholic scholar, who has become a well-known apologist for Islam.

Murder for Criticism: Rife in Islamic Texts

“What Considine says is flatly false,” distinguished Islamic scholar Robert Spencer told Church Militant.

    Spencer explained:

Islam mandates death for non-Muslim subjects of the Islamic state who mention “something impermissible about Allah, the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), or Islam” (‘Umdat al-Salik, o11.10), and such laws are based upon passages in the Hadith and Sira in which Muhammad orders the murders of people who have insulted him.
Spencer told Church Militant he could cite numerous instances of such executions ordered by Muhammad in sacred texts revered by Muslims.
“These include Abu ‘Afak, who was over 100 years old, and the poetess Asma bint Marwan,” noted Spencer, author of 21 books on Islam.
    Spencer quoted Ibn Ishaq, 674-676:
Abu ‘Afak was killed in his sleep, in response to Muhammad’s question, “Who will avenge me on this scoundrel?” Similarly, Muhammad on another occasion cried out, “Will no one rid me of this daughter of Marwan?” One of his followers, Umayr ibn Adi, went to her house that night, where he found her sleeping next to her children. The youngest, a nursing babe, was in her arms. But that didn’t stop Umayr from murdering her and the baby as well. Muhammad commended him: “You have done a great service to Allah and His Messenger, Umayr!”
Spencer also cited the example of Ka’b bin al-Ashraf from Sahih al-Bukhari, volume 5, book 59, number 369.
Muhammad asked: “Who is willing to kill Ka’b bin al-Ashraf who has hurt Allah and His Apostle?” One of the Muslims, Muhammad bin Maslama, answered, “O Allah’s Apostle! Would you like that I kill him?” When Muhammad said that he would, Muhammad ibn Maslama said, “Then allow me to say a (false) thing (i.e. to deceive Ka’b).” Muhammad responded: “You may say it.” Muhammad bin Maslama duly lied to Ka’b, luring him into his trap, and murdered him.
Church Militant contacted Considine, asking if he was willing to go on record to “confirm there are absolutely no instances in the Qur’an, Hadith or Sunnah where Muhammad reacts with violence to people who mock him for various reasons.”

  6. Trump Campaign Moves to Initiate Wisconsin Recount

President Donald Trump’s campaign took steps to seek a recount in Wisconsin on Nov. 7, after several news outlets and Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s campaign declared a narrow victory in the state.

Biden has more than a 20,000-vote lead over Trump in Wisconsin, according to The Associated Press and Decision Desk, an organization used by The Epoch Times. Biden has 49.5 percent of the vote, while Trump has 48.9 percent. A trailing candidate is allowed to seek a recount under state law if the margin of a race is within 1 percentage point.

Justin Clark, Trump’s deputy campaign manager, said on Nov. 7 his team would initiate a recount because of “irregularities” in the Nov. 3 election process, while asserting the team is “very concerned about what we’re hearing and seeing.” He didn’t elaborate.

  7. Protests Break out in Washington

At the highest court in the land, dozens of Trump supporters attended a “Stop the Steal” rally on Saturday to protest against what they claim is an unfair election. The president of a conservative, pro-constitution forum agrees with Supreme Court Justice Alito’s decision to have Pennsylvania separate ballots received after Election Day to be counted separately.

“We’re worried about the election, we came together to say, Stop stealing the election. And as you know, in Communist China, the government shuts down elections that they don’t like we’re going to let them happen. And what we’re seeing now is a combination of power by the media and big tech and power by local officials to try to steal an election. So we have to fight back.”

  8. Czech customs officers detain a Turkish truck with dozens of migrants
    https://rmx.news/article/article/czech-customs-officers-detain-a-turkish-truck-with-dozens-of-migrants

“On Thursday afternoon, Czech customs officers stopped a truck transporting 48 migrants in the South Moravian Region after an X-ray detected people in the semi-trailer.

Customs spokeswoman Lada Tem?áková said that this was a usual inspection in which customs officers on the D2 highway stopped and inspected a tractor with a semi-trailer. “It had a Turkish license plate. There were two drivers inside, and according to the documents, they were supposed to be transporting tiles,“ said the spokeswoman.

However, a large-object X-ray by the customs officers revealed people inside the trailer. The customs officers thus made the truck park near the small town of Podivín, and around 5 p.m., people gradually started coming out of it with the assistance of police officers. “They are young men and one woman; there is no child among them. They said they were from Syria and headed for Germany,“ the spokeswoman added.

Customs officers originally estimated that there would be 20 to 30 people, but in the end, there were 48 of them in the trailer. The police have taken them to the Foreign Police Office to verify their identities. Spokesman Bohumil Malášek said that it was not yet possible to say exactly what would happen to them next. They could be returned to where they came from, but they could also apply for asylum. Both drivers were detained, and criminal investigators are trying to find out what role they played in the case.

Customs officers and police in the Southern Moravia Region and elsewhere have detained migrants in recent months, but there were always just a few people, usually two. The latest incident was when three refugees were detained on a dirt road at the end of October near the border with Slovakia. None of the migrants had any proof of identity, and the police took them in for further verification.”

  11. zero hedge – NY Bar Association Recommends Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccine With No Exemptions

The New York State Bar Association is urging the state to adopt mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations once they become available – if ‘voluntary measures fail to protect public health’ – and has recommended following ‘current New York law’ – including exemptions for “religious, philosophical or personal reasons,” according to the New York Law Journal.

“The authority of the state to respond to a public health crisis is well-established in constitutional law,” said Mary Beth Morrisey NY Bar association Health Law Section Task Force chair, in a Saturday statement.

“In balancing the protection of the public’s health and civil liberties, the Public Health Law recognizes that a person’s health can and does affect others,” she continued. “It may become necessary to require that certain individuals or communities be vaccinated, such as healthcare workers and students, to protect the public’s health.”

According to the Bar Association’s recommendation, “To protect the public’s health, it would be useful to provide guidance, consistent with existing law or a state emergency health powers act as proposed in Resolution #1, to assist state officials and state and local public health authorities should it be necessary for the state to consider the possibility of enacting a vaccine mandate.”

They also recognize that the public needs to believe that the vaccine is safe and that it works.

“A vaccine must not only be safe and efficacious; it must be publicly perceived as safe and efficacious.”
