Reader’s Links for November 3rd, 2020

This post was created in the early morning of October 19th 2020 for automatic posting now.. And here is hoping that we all made it safely to today. So much can happen between now and then. Let’s hope whatever happens in the following few days, assuming we are all ok now, that we all come out alive and well

and with our rights and freedoms intact.

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Austrian police arrest 14 in manhunt after gunman’s deadly rampage
    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-austria-attack/austrian-police-arrest-14-in-manhunt-after-gunmans-deadly-rampage-idUSKBN27J0EN

“Austrian police raided 18 properties and arrested 14 people in a massive manhunt on Tuesday for possible accomplices of a convicted jihadist who shot dead four people and injured 22 others in a late-night rampage in the centre of Vienna.

The gunman, who was killed by police minutes after opening fire on crowded bars on Monday, had been released from jail less than a year ago. He was identified as Kujtim Fejzulai, a 20-year-old Austrian who also held North Macedonian nationality.

It was the first such militant attack in Vienna in a generation, and the government pledged robust action.

“We will defend our fundamental values, our way of life and our democracy with all our strength,” Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said in a national address about what he branded an Islamist terror attack.

“We will find and hunt down the perpetrators, those behind this and their associates and mete out a just sentence. And we will pursue all those who have anything to do with this outrage with all available means.”

Swiss police also arrested two men on Tuesday near Zurich in an investigation of possible links to the gunman.

Speaking later to broadcaster ORF, Kurz urged European nations to take more decisive action against terrorism.

“We must give everyone who wants to integrate the chance to integrate, but we must at the same time make clear that our basic values are not negotiable,” he said.

The attack followed recent deadly assaults by lone Islamist attackers in Nice and Paris. Many Muslims have been angered by the publication in strictly secular France of satirical caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad…”

  2. Islamic Studies Department at Belgium University Sues Macron for Racism
    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2020/11/324612/islamic-studies-department-at-belgium-university-sues-macron-for-racism/

“The Department of Islamic Studies at the European Benelux University in Belgium issued a press release to announce its plan to file a lawsuit against French President Emmanuel Macron for his “racism” towards the Arab and Muslim communities.

The department condemned the insults by Macron “in light of the civilizational and cultural openness and the spread of globalization across the world,” the statement reads.

The Islamic department at the university also condemned Macron’s insults towards Islam and the Prophet Muhammad in response to the recent attacks in France.

The statement said that despite COVID-19, which urged the world to work as one to fight the pandemic, Macron “unfortunately appears to us to insult the Prophet Muhammad.”

The department said that Macron’s insults came long before the recent attacks in France that the president described as “Islamist terrorist attacks.”

“We regret that Mr. Macron represents France, the country of freedoms and beliefs, and at the same time, France is witnessing the repeated use of freedoms and beliefs through its president, to achieve personal or political gains and benefits,” it continued.

The department of Islamic Studies and Research at Benelux, therefore, decided to file a lawsuit at the European Court in Luxembourg against Macron for “contempt of religions, advocacy of hatred and threatening societal peace.”

The statement issued on October 26 came in response to Macron’s controversial remarks after he said that France will not give up its cartoons that Muslims consider offensive to the Prophet Muhammad.

The president defended Charlie Hebdo and its caricatures in response to the gruesome murder of Samuel Paty, a French teacher who displayed the satirical magazine’s cartoons in a class.

An 18-year-old man born in Russia beheaded the teacher.

Millions of Muslims and non-Muslims condemned the murder but saw Macron’s response as a provocation against Islam and Muslims across the world.

Macron’s statement was not the first against Islam. Weeks before the killing of Paty, Macron said Islam is in crisis around the world and vowed strict measures to fight “Islamist separatism” in France.

Following the murder of Paty, France cracked down on mosques and Islamic collectives as part of actions against “extremism.”

In response, millions of Muslims decided to launch a campaign to defend their religion and prophet.

The campaign targets French products, calling on Muslims and non-Muslims to boycott them in response to Macron’s rhetoric and the continuous use of cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad.

The calls for a boycott went viral on social networks, with millions of Muslims vowing to refrain from purchasing French-made products.

In an attempt to calm tension, Macron said last week that he can understand Muslims’ frustration against the cartoons, but described the boycott as “unacceptable” and “unworthy.”

France is still experiencing tension and Islamophobia due to violent attacks its leaders describe as Islamist terrorism. Last week on October 29, a man killed three people at a church in Nice, southern France. The 21-year-old man beheaded one of his victims and injured several others.”

“Police have taken four new suspects into custody over the deadly knife attacks in the French city of Nice last Thursday, adding to three others who remain in custody.

The main suspect, Brahim Aouissaoui, also has tested positive for the coronavirus. He remains in a hospital with gunshot wounds after being shot at by police. Law enforcement and those close to the case will now need to be tested.

The four new suspects, all male, were detained in Val d’Oise, a French department to the north of Paris…”

  4. ‘World must keep fighting abuse of Islam’

“Stressing Turkey’s condemnation of Monday’s terror attack in the Austrian capital, the Turkish foreign minister has underlined the need to keep fighting ideologies which abuse Islam.

“Especially we need to continue our fight to destroy the ideologies of those who abuse Islam, our religion of peace,” Mevlut Cavusoglu told a joint news conference with his Sierra Leonean counterpart in the Turkish capital Ankara on Tuesday…”

“Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio said Tuesday that it is necessary to get a grip on the illegal influx of migrants in the wake of Monday’s terrorist attack in Vienna.

“We must increase attention on illegal migrant flows, as the interior ministry is rightly doing,” Di Maio said via Facebook.

“They represent a risk. Realism is needed.

    “This problem must be solved…”

  6. The ‘migrant invasion continues’ in Italy, warns Matteo Salvini
    https://rmx.news/article/article/the-migrant-invasion-continues-in-italy-warns-matteo-salvini

“The migrant camp on the Italian island of Lampedusa has been again flooded with illegal immigrants after 900 landed there Monday night after 600 already landed on Sunday, League leader Matteo Salvini said.

After information came to light that the Islamic terrorist attack in Nice, France, was perpetrated by an illegal migrant from Tunisia who first landed on Lampedusa island on Sept. 20, Salvini warned that the number of terrorists and potential killers among the latest arrivals is unknown.

Almost 700 arrived at night with twelve boats, and in the morning 200 more arrived ashore with three more boats. The smallest group was 14, and the largest nearly a 100. Nine hundred people at a time have traditionally been housed at the island’s registration center for illegal migrants, where there are less than 200 spots. Barely a day ago, just over a 100 previously arrived immigrants from the camp were transferred to the Suprema quarantine ship after 600 migrants in 14 separate boats also landed in Lampedusa on Sunday.

Salvini, the leader of the opposition League party, wrote on his Facebook page that Italians get coronavirus lockdowns while migrants get “open ports”.

“Shame on you!” wrote Salvini, who called on the current Minister of the Interior Luciana Lamorgese to “wake up and resign” after the terror attack on Nice last week, stressing that while everything and everyone will be locked down due to the coronavirus epidemic, the movement of migrants is the only exception to any restrictions.

“In Italy, the catastrophe of migrant invasion continues… How many terrorists and potential killers will be among the newcomers? Will the government continue to claim that the strict migration policy I represent posed a threat? Enough with the [government’s] lies, ports must be closed, landings must end, and we must oblige Tunisia and the other countries of origin to adhere to strict rules,” Salvini wrote.

The leader of the right-wing opposition recalled that the Nice assassin also arrived to Lampedusa on Sept. 20 was placed on a quarantine ship, but was eventually allowed to leave the country after Italian authorities lost all trace of him. On Oct. 29, he killed three people at the Notre-Dame Basilica in Nice.

According to Maurizio Gasparri, a senator from another opposition party, Forza Italia, said the armed forces should protect the Italian borders.

“The continued arrival of migrant ships could lead to further tragedies in Italy and Europe. Whoever helps the arrival of migrants puts guns in the hands of potential killers,” Gasparri said.

Antonio de Lieto, secretary general of the independent police union in Lisipo, noted that the vast majority of illegal immigrants are not fugitives from war or persecution, a fact confirmed by data. He explained that the terrorist attack in Nice reflects poorly on Italy’s interior minister, who has a policy of open ports.

“The closure of ports cannot be postponed any longer, uncontrolled migration is a threat to national security. The interior minister will close the ports or resign,” he added.

Seventy migrants were transferred from Lampedusa to Porto Empedocle, Sicily, on board the quarantine ship Allegra on Monday. After being identified, they will be distributed among other migrant centers in Italy.

Prto Empedocle mayor, Ida Carmina, who belongs to the left-wing coalition government’s Five Star Movement (M5S), protested against the move, pointing out that the problem of migration and the coronavirus epidemic is compounded by the threat of terrorism.

“The population is worried, and we can’t become a European migrant camp,” he said, adding that many migrants are fleeing the centers before they can be tested for the virus.

By Sunday night, nearly 28,000 illegal immigrants have arrived in Italy since Jan. 1, up from less than 10,000 last year.”

  7. VIDEO: Girl is forced to kneel and then robbed by ‘youth’ in Belgium
    https://rmx.news/article/article/video-girl-forced-to-kneel-by-youth-in-belgium-who-then-rob-her

“A girl was forced to kneel in front of a group of “young people” in the small Belgian town of Geel and subsequently threatened and robbed by them, local news portal Sceptr reports.

The incident happened at the Geel train station, and while police — who were still conducting the investigation — did not reveal the attackers’ identity, their statements indicate that it could have been the work of immigrants.

Since yesterday, video images of the incident have been widely shared on social media. It shows how a young girl is forced to kneel in front of a group of young people who appear to be ecstatic about the situation. They have been made unrecognizable on the images so that the identity of the perpetrators is not clear.

The police have also begun an investigation after becoming aware of the video and details of the case.

“On Friday afternoon, an incident occurred at Geel station that is part of a broad and complex problem that starts with bullying and ends with criminal offenses,” the police described the facts to news portal HLN.

HLN reports that it is not the first time such an incident has taken place and that the suspects are already known by the police.

“Everyone involved is known both in the more extensive issue and in this incident,” police said.

It is not clear whether the suspects have since been arrested and questioned.”

  8. Xi Jinping turns his soldiers into “Winter Soldiers” straight from Marvel movies. It’s a big fat lie

    • About those Chinese soldiers being “unblooded”?
Apparently LOTS have been fighting along with Assad in Syria. Maybe others helping Iran. (China also has forces in Venezuela.)
They seem to appreciate the importance of real fighting for a quality military.
