Reader’s Links for November 2nd, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. An Election and America’s Two Choices

“We must rise again to take our stand for freedom, as in the olden time.”
Mon Nov 2, 2020 Bruce Thornton
    38

When voters go to the polls, they will be choosing not just one man over another. They will be choosing either freedom and self-rule based on the Constitution; or “soft” servitude and tutelage under the technocratic pretensions of a managerial elite.

In other words, the ancient political choice that arose with the creation of citizens rule 2500 years ago––a choice based on whether we believe that ordinary people have the practical wisdom and common sense sufficient for self-government; or instead are incapable of knowing what’s good for themselves and the country, and so their freedom must be subordinated to the greater knowledge of credentialed professionals and “experts.”

Technocrats need power to achieve their aims, and for the last century we have seen that power grow into the federal Leviathan that has spread its regulatory tentacles and oversight into ever greater parts of our lives at the cost of our autonomy. Indeed, in just the past year during the pandemic, under the guise of “following the science” we have seen many states restrict or outright cancel some of our unalienable rights such as assembling, bearing arms, and practicing our faiths.

  4. Wannabe jihadi arrested in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. State media pull mental health card and write about “an autistic man”.

Nov 2 2020 Attack on gay pride prevented
    https://cceit.com/om-prevent-attack-on-gay-pride/
Justice has arrested a 31-year-old man from Amsterdam who would have been preparing an attack on the Gay Pride this summer. He sought chemicals for explosives, announced that he wanted to shoot Jews, police officers and renegade Muslims, and sought parts to assemble a Kalashnikov, according to the prosecution‘s charge.

Tahsin E. has already been arrested on August 8, but justice hasn’t reported the arrest before. On Friday he has to appear before the Amsterdam court in a first preparatory session.

    E. just got on parole after imprisonment for making a weapon. According to the state‘s law, he was looking for substances like aluminium powder and potassium nitrate. In chat messages on the jihadist encrypted chat channel, Discord, he wrote about his laboratory plans and the substances he needed. “I’m going to make serious explosives later,” he wrote. He posted comments like “The detonator will be a phone with 4G, “the apostates will die,” and “I am truly capable of carrying out attacks.” Besides, he asked, “Does anyone have an AK-47 for sale? I need it for the Gay Pride parade.”

    Automatic firearm

Here and there E. spoke openly about killing opponents. For example, he posted a message on Twitter with a video from a computer game in which someone with an automatic firearm is shot to death in the street with the text ‘Jew spotted’. Tahsin E. wrote: “Sometimes when I walk on the street, I feel like…”

Through Whatsapp, he reported that police officers are also among his enemies. He put images of cops in the crosshairs of a visor with lyrics like “skunks, nothing more “and “I think they just want a few bullets through their foreheads “and “that day will come, “with a smiley smiley face.

  5. Boko Haram ‘Kills 12’ in Raid Near Nigeria’s Chibok
    https://www.thedefensepost.com/2020/11/02/boko-haram-kills-12-chibok/

“Boko Haram jihadists on Sunday killed 12 people and abducted seven others in a raid on a village near the northeast Nigerian town of Chibok, local sources said.

Chibok is the scene of the mass kidnapping of 276 schoolgirls in 2014 by Boko Haram which drew global outrage and international attention to the group.

Fighters in six pickup trucks drove into Takulashi village on Sunday, 18 kilometers (12 miles) from Chibok, shooting residents and setting homes ablaze.

“The terrorists killed 12 people, including two of our members who engaged them in a gunfight,” Abwaku Kabu, the leader of a local government-backed militia said.

Anti-jihadist militia members from Chibok mobilized in two trucks to defend the village but they were outnumbered by the militants who seized one of the trucks, Kabu said.

The insurgents who attacked the village from their Sambisa forest enclave nearby abducted seven residents and burnt 70 houses after looting food supplies, Ayuba Alamson, a community leader in Chibok said.

“The insurgents took away three women and their four children in the attack,” said Alamson who has the same death toll.

Troops have been stationed in Chibok since the schoolgirls kidnap but deadly Boko Haram raids continue in the area.

In the wake of the mass abduction, 57 of the girls escaped shortly after the kidnapping, and 107 were either rescued or released after negotiations. Some 112 are still in captivity.

The decade-long conflict in northeast Nigeria has killed 36,000 people and displaced around two million from their homes in the northeast, according to the United Nations.”

  6. Gunmen Kill at Least 32 in Ethiopia ‘Massacre:’ Rights Agency
    https://www.thedefensepost.com/2020/11/02/attack-ethiopia-oromia/

“An armed group active in Ethiopia’s restive Oromia region has killed at least 32 civilians in a weekend “massacre”, the national rights body said Monday, adding that the true toll could be higher.

The incident is likely to further ramp up pressure on Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, winner of last year’s Nobel Peace Prize, to improve security in a country struggling with grisly ethnic violence.

Gunmen from the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) carried out the attack Sunday in an area of western Ethiopia known as Wollega, according to a statement from the Oromia regional government.

“Peaceful civilians were killed… in a horrendous way,” the statement said, without providing a death toll.

A survivor who spoke by phone to AFP said the violence erupted after soldiers stationed in the area abruptly and inexplicably left, allowing OLA fighters to round up civilians.

“After collecting us, they opened fire on us, and then afterwards looted cattle and burnt down houses,” said the survivor, who spoke on condition of anonymity for safety reasons.

“I have counted more than 50 corpses, and I know there were others hit by bullets,” the survivor said.

The OLA, believed to number in the low thousands, broke off from the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), an opposition party that spent years in exile but was allowed to return to Ethiopia after Abiy took office in 2018.

Abiy’s government has blamed it for a spate of assassinations, bombings, bank robberies, and kidnappings in Oromia.

The National Movement of Amhara (NAMA), an opposition party, said the perpetrators of Sunday’s attack appeared to have targeted members of the Amhara ethnic group, Ethiopia’s second-largest.

Authorities last week barred NAMA from staging demonstrations denouncing violence against the group.

Separate attacks on Amhara civilians have recently been reported in two other regions.

Dessalegn Chanie, a senior member of NAMA, said Monday that “up to 200 Amharas were ruthlessly murdered” in Sunday’s attack, though he acknowledged the precise toll was difficult to pin down.

“According to survivors from the area whom I talked to earlier today, they are not sure about the count of deaths because they just ran” into the forest, he said.

Oromia regional officials did not respond to multiple requests Monday seeking further comment.”

“Sources in Egypt said on Sunday that the Cairo Criminal Court’s terrorism circuit is prosecuting 11 persons accused of joining Daesh, Reuters has reported.

The sources explained that Egypt’s Supreme State Security Prosecution (SSSP) opened an investigation after information was provided by the National Security Agency (NSA) which revealed that an Egyptian national is apparently involved in illegal migrant trafficking across the western border into Libya. The person is said to be doing this in cooperation with Bedouin smugglers.

The investigation also revealed that the citizen in question is providing intelligence to Daesh and the commander of the deterrence force brigades, who are Libyan nationals, regarding Egyptians travelling and living in Libya.

The court will also look at other charges against the defendants, including the kidnapping and torture of Egyptian citizens, demanding ransom money from their relatives, human trafficking and smuggling of illegal immigrants, as well as “communication with Daesh”.”

“Four women alleged to have been supporters and recruits of Daesh, along with their nine children, have been allowed to return to Sweden, following their escape from the infamous Al-Hol displacement camp in Syria. They escaped from the camp two months ago and have been living in Turkey while awaiting the green light to go back to Sweden.

The women’s repatriation has been delayed due to DNA tests which they were required to undergo to confirm their relationship with their children. Moreover, one of them tested positive for Covid-19.

According to the Swedish broadcaster SVT, the social and security services are set to meet the women and children upon their return in order to ascertain whether they remain radicalised and aligned with extremist Daesh ideology. The women will be interrogated but their children will be taken into state care and monitored.

“Minister of Emigration and Expatriates Affairs Nabila Makram, Minister of International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat, and the German Ambassador to Cairo Cyrill Nunn inaugurated a joint centre to help Egyptian expats returning to their country find jobs and integrate them into society and provide information about safe immigration.

The Egyptian-German Centre for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration was established in partnership with the German development agency GIZ and in line with directives of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development, the Egyptian Ministry of Emigration and Expatriates Affairs said in a statement.

The centre is funded by two million euros, the statement says, adding that it was established in light of the presidential initiative dubbed “Life-Saving Boats,” which aims at spreading awareness against irregular immigration.

The centre is part of a bilateral cooperation programme between Egypt and Germany, which is meant to provide job opportunities for Egyptians in the country as well as expats returning from other countries, through guiding them to find the suitable career paths.

The centre also works to integrate returning expats into the Egyptian society, economically and socially.

Among the missions of the centre is contributing to limiting irregular immigration through spreading awareness about its danger and helping those willing to immigrate get the required information.

Minister of Emigration Nabila Makram said the goal of the centre is to affirm Egypt’s support of safe immigration. The centre will give information about job opportunities in Germany and educate job applicants about the German language and culture.

Individual consultation sessions, advice and training will be provided to Egyptian youth looking for job opportunities in Egypt and abroad through the centre, Makram added.”

  15. Fight needs to be put up against anti-Muslim sentiment: President Erdo?an
    https://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/fight-needs-to-be-put-up-against-anti-muslim-sentiment-president-erdogan-159659

“President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an emphasized that European Muslims were facing a systematic discrimination, and a fight needs to be put up against anti-Muslim sentiment today.

“European Muslims are systematically discriminated and their rights and freedoms are taken away,” Erdo?an said in a video message sent to the Leaders (Digital) Summit titled “Genocide: Lessons Learned from Srebrenica” on Nov. 1 marking the 25th anniversary of the beginning of talks for Dayton Peace Agreement.

“We see that the countries that teach the world about human rights and democracy take the lead in Islamophobia and xenophobia,” Erdo?an said.

“Racist terrorism spreads like the plague in many western countries, sometimes protected at the presidential level. The weight of attacks and assaults targeting Muslim places of worship, workplaces, masjids, and non-governmental institutional buildings has increased to worrying levels,” the president also said.

“It is high time to say ‘stop’ to this malign state of affairs and course of actions that threaten the future of humanity and the culture of coexistence of different faiths and cultures,” he said.

He noted that at a time of increasing economic distress and rising social tensions due to the coronavirus pandemic, significant tasks and duties fall upon all people and all heads of states who uphold democracy, freedoms, peace and justice.

“The genocide, which occurred 25 years ago in Srebrenica, the heart of Europe, has been engraved as a black stain on the history of humanity. Despite the passing of a quarter-century, the pain caused by our 8,372 Bosnian brothers and sisters, brutally murdered, continues to wound our hearts,” Erdo?an said.

The president said that sadly the demands for justice made by those who lost their loved ones during the genocide were not fulfilled completely, and most of the perpetrators did not receive the punishment they deserved.

“Those who handed over our brothers and sisters taking shelter under the protection of the United Nations to their murderers have not given an account of their responsibilities. Even worse, humanity, especially the European politicians and media outlets, did not take the necessary lessons from the Srebrenica genocide,” he stated.

“The massacres we witnessed in many parts of the world from Syria to Yemen and Arakan to New Zealand, are the most painful examples of this. The international organizations that have watched the Srebrenica genocide have just remained bystanders in the face of these atrocities in recent years,” he noted.

One should be bravely vocal about the wrongs and misdeeds that are seen to prevent a recurrence of the genocide in Srebrenica, and one should look for solutions together, he said.”

  16. Turkey dealt major blow to Daesh/ISIS terror in October
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/turkey/turkey-dealt-major-blow-to-daesh-isis-terror-in-october/2028566

“Dealing a major blow to the terror group Daesh/ISIS, Turkey prevented numerous terror attacks this October, said security officials on Monday.

According to a new report by security officials, the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT), police, gendarme, and border guards arrested 204 Daesh/ISIS terror suspects and seized a large number of arms, ammunition, and organizational document during nationwide anti-terror operations last month.

Of the detained suspects – some of whom are suspected of being active in Syria – 26 were put in jail, some were deported, and some others are still working their way through the legal system, the report noted.

The report said that many of the Daesh/ISIS suspects had foreign origins such as Iraq, Finland, Syria and Tunisia. Owing to successful operations in October against the organization, some senior terrorists, including Tunisian national Soumaya Raissi, were also arrested, and possible terror attacks were prevented.

Raissi, 30, wanted by French authorities, was identified as “dangerous.”

In 2013, Turkey became one of the first countries to declare Daesh/ISIS a terror group.

It has since been attacked multiple times by Daesh/ISIS terrorists, with at least 10 suicide bombings, seven bomb attacks, and four armed attacks that have killed 315 people and injured hundreds more.

In response, Turkey launched anti-terror operations at home and abroad to prevent further attacks.”

    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/turkey/turkish-coast-guard-rescues-18-asylum-seekers/2028594

“The Turkish Coast Guard rescued 18 asylum seekers who were pushed back by Greek coastal authorities into Turkish waters off the Aegean coast, a security source said Monday.

The coast guard was dispatched to the area and took the migrants to the Turkish shore in the Marmaris district of Mugla via a coast guard boat, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media.

After reaching the shores, they were transferred to the provincial migration office.

Turkey has decried the Greek pushbacks as illegal and risky for migrants’ lives.

Turkey has been a key transit point for asylum seekers who want to cross to Europe to start new lives, especially those fleeing war and persecution.

Earlier this year, Turkey opened its gates to irregular migrants, accusing the EU of failing to keep promises under a 2016 migrant deal.

French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo has declined a request by far-right Danish political party Nye Borgerlige (New Right) to publish its cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed.

The Danish party, led by parliamentarian Pernille Vermund, wanted to take out advertisements in Danish newspapers in which it would have published the cartoons.

The cartoons depicting the prophet Mohammed were shown by French teacher Samuel Paty to his students before he was later beheaded in what the country’s president Emmanuel Macron has labelled a terrorist attack.

“The killing of Samuel Paty triggered the campaign, we want to show our support for his family and for freedom of speech,” Vermund said on Friday.

Charlie Hebdo’s cartoonists have however rejected Nye Borgerlige’s request to use the cartoons in newspaper advertisements, the magazine’s public relations bureau told tabloid newspaper Ekstra Bladet.

“Following consultation with the cartoonists, Charlie Hebdo has not made such an agreement with this political party, with which they do not share any form of viewpoints,” the magazine said according to Ekstra Bladet.

Danish newspapers Berlingske and Weekendavisen have said they would publish the Nye Borgerlige advertisements, while Jyllands-Posten and Ekstra Bladet declined to, citing concerns for staff security.”

  20. Stopping mass immigration requires action instead of words, French author Laurent Obertone says
    https://rmx.news/article/article/stopping-mass-immigration-requires-actions-instead-of-words-french-author-says

“France needs action, not words, to stop mass immigration, famed French author and journalist Laurent Obertone said in an interview with Hungarian conservative daily Magyar Hírlap. In the same interview, he also warned that Central and Eastern European countries opposed to mass immigration must not give in to pressure on the issue.

“Unfortunately, we’ve been living with dystopia for years,” Obertone said. “On the one hand we have the good intentions of our leader [Emmanuel Macron] and the media, and on the other hand, the reality: terrorist attacks, increasing crime, unprecedented insecurity, and a lack of any sense of actual security.”

Obertone said that a few days before teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded in an Islamic terrorist attack, French leaders were still debating whether the use of the word “ensauvagement” (turning wild), often used to describe migrant crime, was too rude and racist, while in his books Obertone says he was pointing out that exactly the phenomenon that the country’s leaders refused to accept reality even though 250 people have been killed in Islamic terrorist attacks since 2015.

“It is time for our leaders to come down from their parallel world and deal with the facts. Instead of communication and the distribution of public funds, concrete steps must be taken against the mass immigration that our country has suffered for decades and is opposed to by much of society,” Obertone said.

Obertone is the author of the best-selling book “Guerilla” which describes a dystopia in the near future involving a civil war in France. The book delves deeply into current divisions that already exist, including between France’s left-wing groups, its migrant population, and French nationalists. The book, also popular in Hungary and Germany, has not yet been translated to English.

In his 2013 book “La France Orange Mécanique” (Clockwork orange France), the author uses media reports and crime statistics to report on the worsening of violence and crime in French society in the years between 2000 and 2010, which he points out is greatly tied to rapid growth in France’s foreign population. The author argues that the French state, compared to the 1950s and 1960s, no longer fulfills its duty to provide security to its citizens.

Asked about his country’s immigration and integration policy, Obertone said that both have failed. Obertone’s criticisms come at a time when critics of France’s immigration policies have even claimed that France is actively participating in population replacement that will result in ethnic French people becoming a minority in their country.

“We always see that the public is becoming increasingly impatient on these issues, so our leaders cannot proceed as if everything is fine with the migration system. But they fall into their own trap, as they prefer to comply with the media and Brussels, taking only symbolic steps,” Obertone said.

“These policies are mostly just words. We are talking about ‘restraint’, ‘regulation’, ‘assimilation’, but all these words have lost their meaning. We cannot assimilate the millions of people who come from a culture completely different from ours. What’s more, community redeployment typically results in locals being assimilated to immigrants in districts where they are already in the majority.”

Obertone’s comments appear to refer to ethnic French becoming the minority in certain neighborhoods, which has resulted in deep cultural changes, such as women being afraid to wear certain clothing out of fear, a phenomenon that has even ended in violence against women in many cases who disregard the norms in Middle Eastern cultures.

Asked what advice he would give to Central European countries opposed to mass immigration, he said they should stay the course no matter what.

“Consistently stick to the path they take, whatever it takes. Don’t give in to the blackmail of global progressivism, even as the pressure grows day by day. People are the soul of the nation. They must refrain from the insane ideologies that see them as enemies and bring nothing but chaos and division,” Obertone told Magyar Hírlap.”

“If you want dignity in this world and the hereafter, if you want the Islamic nation to survive, then declare [on the Prophet’s birthday] that Islam orders Jihad against those who slander the Prophet Muhammad. I am declaring Jihad,” Rizvi urges in the video posted on Oct. 24.

The video also gained the attention of Belgian politician Filip Dewinter.

“Europe is not aware how insane certain Pakistani-Islamic political leaders are. This is the Islamic scholar Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi who calls on Pakistani government to use the atom bomb against Europe. Pakistan is a terror state!” Dewinter wrote on Twitter.

However, this was not the first time Rizvi called for Jihad on those who allegedly mock Prophet Muhammad. In July 2018, in response to a Prophet Muhammad cartoon competition, he said that if he were given “the atom bomb”, he would “wipe Holland off the face of this earth.”

“If they give me the atom bomb, I would remove Holland from the face of the earth before they can hold a competition of caricatures,” said Rizvi, according to the Times of India.

The competition of cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad was held by the Freedom Party of Dutch politician Geert Wilders in 2018.

Rizvi is the founder of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan political party, which aims to fight any changes in the country’s blasphemy laws.

Rizvi is not the only Islamic leader calling for Jihad. Sheikh Issam Amira delivered a lesson from the Al-Aqsa mosque in which he said that it was a honor that a Chechen Muslim beheaded Samuel Paty in Paris. The teacher showed his class a cartoon of Prophet Muhammad in a lesson about freedom of expression, which sparked the religious extremist attack.

“When a Muslim of Chechen origin beheaded an infidel who slandered the Prophet Muhammad, people call this ‘terrorism’. Well, it is a great honor for him and for all Muslims that there was such a young man to defend the Prophet Muhammad,” he said in a video translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MIMRI).

Late last month, Mahathir Mohamad, who served as Malaysia’s prime minister until March of this year, also wrote in a tweet that “Muslims have a right to be angry and to kill millions of French people for the massacres of the past”.

The tweet went viral before being deleted by Twitter.

The Muslim world has reacted with outrage to French President Emmanuel Macron’s crackdown on Islamic extremism in the country, including with calls for boycotts against French goods. National Rally leader Marine Le Pen claims, however, that Macron has failed to address the issue of Islamic extremism throughout his term. She has called for all unaccompanied minors from France to be deported back to their country of origin, a move she says will help reduce incidences of terror in France.”

    • They are discussing the connection between terrorism and migration.
-best thing to do is to stop it altogether
-people in every country are fed up and getting ready to fight
-Mayor of Italian island told his people the situation is impossible because too many migrants are coming
-many mayors in Italian cities are begging the government for relief because this migrant situation can’t continue
-many migrant ships were stopped from landing
-Polish government now taking in migrants
