Reader’s Links for October 26, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Klaus the commie. Right.

Any article peppered with the “sustainable, inclusive, stakeholder…” lexicon is pretty much voodoo vomit from the start. Each one of these expressions is an unnatural, leftist, corrupting, contrivance willing itself upon the free market.

The first rule of business, in my book, is to admit one’s mistakes. Only then can one move forward with some kind of strength. Yes, our information battle space is fire hosed to the hilt, but this cannot stop us from confronting obvious errors.

Crony capitalism is the problem, not capitalism. Capitalism is a human force of nature. It can’t be stopped. And we can’t bury our heads in the sand, or put lipstick on the pig that is too much debt. We can’t marginalize as “doom porn” valid voices trying to identify looming issues that must be addressed.

So I hear you, Yucki. But rectifying the single greatest mistake that has empowered and financed the Redgreen rise inside our countries, Keynesian economics, starts by acknowledging it. I even offer as proof this hint that PT agrees:
    https://www.marketplace.org/2020/07/21/trump-fed-nominee-advances-in-senate-despite-support-for-gold-standard/

This woman is a cat in the hen house. Even this article tries to counter the wisdom of the President, but he knows what’s what. Keynes was a socialist who won the day and made the current orthodoxy that must be broken.

Further, those who say there isn’t enough gold to sustain a hard money system are just plain wrong. I won’t post again Alan Greenspan’s 1968 article in which he wholeheartedly supports gold. Gold in a hard-money system is stretched using real bills, while the physical is used for capital accumulation. It becomes a relatively simple two-tired system that rewards savers and the ambitious, while largely cauterizing the kind of insider corruption and war making that so benefits the military industrial complex. Deficit spending and fractional reserve banking need not be eliminated completely, but they must answer to rigid mathematical controls that only the hard money regime can exert. Our young men need not die for the wanton whims of the Obamas, Bidens and Clintons of this world. And insiders like Buffett, Soros and Gates need not become monied paper gods at our expense.

If I’m wrong about what economics means in our epoch then give it to me straight, anyone, because hard truth as I’ve said must be the foundation of our business model. Fiat truth, like fiat money, just won’t cut it for too much longer.

  8. Australia Protests After Female Passengers Forced Off Qatar Airways Flight and Strip-Searched (breitbart, Oct 26, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/middle-east/2020/10/26/australia-protests-after-female-passengers-forced-off-qatar-airways-flight-and-strip-searched/

“The Australian government on Monday said it is “deeply concerned” at the “offensive, grossly inappropriate treatment” of female passengers on a Qatar Airways flight bound for Sydney, who were ordered to disembark in Doha before being subjected to a forced strip search and invasive medical examination.

ABC News Australia reports two passengers from QR908 both told the outlet they had no idea what was happening when all women on the plane were ordered off and told to assemble on the tarmac after a three-hour delay on October 2.

The two women wanted to remain anonymous but confirmed the events took place.

One recounted what happened after she left the airplane’s gangway and entered an ambulance parked alongside.

“When I got in there, and there was a lady with a mask on and then the authorities closed the ambulance behind me and locked it,” she said. “They never explained anything.

“She told me to pull my pants down and that I needed to examine my vagina. I said ‘I’m not doing that’ and she did not explain anything to me. She just kept saying, ‘we need to see it we need to see it’.”

The woman said she tried to get out of the ambulance and the authorities on the other side opened the door before forcing her back.

The victim said she took her clothes off and was inspected, and touched, by the female nurse. Up to 12 other female passengers were subjected to the same treatment.

A source in Doha briefed on the incident told the AFP news service officials “were forcing women to undergo invasive body searches — basically forced Pap smears,” an internal examination of the cervix.

Passenger Wolfgang Babeck told AFP women returned to the plane in a “shell-shocked” state, having been told to remove clothing from the lower half of their bodies for an examination by a female doctor.

“All of them were upset, some were angry, one was crying, but basically nobody could believe what happened,” the commercial lawyer said, adding he thought the incident could be “a violation of international law”.

On Monday morning Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne’s said the Australian government was “deeply concerned at the unacceptable treatment of some female passengers on a recent Qatar Airways flight at Doha Airport”.

Payne told reporters the matter was “a grossly, grossly disturbing, offensive, concerning set of events”, which had been reported to the Australian federal police.

The incident occurred earlier this month after a premature newborn was found abandoned in a terminal bathroom at Hamad International Airport in the Qatari capital, according to accounts provided to the Australian authorities.

A spokesperson for the airport confirmed the involuntary vaginal examinations, adding: “Medical professionals expressed concern to officials about the health and welfare of a mother who had just given birth and requested she be located prior to departing H.I.A.

“Individuals who had access to the specific area of the airport where the newborn infant was found were asked to assist in the query.”

The incident will shine a light on Qatar’s reputation as it prepares to host tens of thousands of foreign visitors for the 2022 football world cup.”

  9. UK Child Abuse Inquiry Refuses to Investigate Pakistani Grooming Gangs (breitbart, Oct 26, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/10/26/uk-inquiry-refuses-investigate-grooming/

“Britain’s national inquiry into child sex abuse has been blasted for ‘cowardice’ over race as it refused to look at grooming gang scandals carried out by mostly Pakistani gangs, or to hear from key witnesses.

Victims of the grooming gangs and their advocates blasted the public probe, which was launched in 2015 and has so far cost taxpayers £143 million, after it emerged would not be examining any of the notorious cases in which ‘Asian’ gangs have preyed on thousands of mostly white, working class girls.

The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) in England and Wales has so far looked at organisations like the Church of England and the Armed Forces to investigate “what went wrong and why” with regards to “institutional failure to protect children from abuse”.

It was believed that the ‘organised networks’ section of the inquiry would look at the mostly Pakistani grooming gangs which have struck in towns across Britain including Rotherham, Rochdale, Oxford and Telford, while police, social services and local councils turned a blind eye to the sexual abuse.

In two weeks of hearings for this investigation which took place from late September, the IICSA chose not to hear from grooming gang crime experts, victims of the phenomenon, or their advocates like whistleblower and former Greater Manchester Police (GMP) detective Maggie Oliver.

Instead, the probe looked at six areas of England and Wales — Bristol, Durham, St Helens, Swansea, Tower Hamlets and Warwickshire “because they represent a range of sizes, demographics and institutional practices”, according to the Times.

None of these regions has seen a major prosecution involving South Asian grooming gangs, noted the newspaper, reporting that the proportion of the population from Pakistani backgrounds in these areas is lower than the average in England and Wales.

Oliver, who quit GMP in 2012 in order to expose the grooming scandal in Rochdale and has since launched the Maggie Oliver Foundation providing support, therapy and legal advice to survivors of child sexual abuse, disclosed that she was denied the chance to speak at the inquiry.

Speaking on the ITV talk show Loose Women, the former detective said she “repeatedly” requested the opportunity to give evidence at the investigation and was eventually invited to give a witness statement, but two thirds of this was erased by the IICSA.

“Every non-institutional core participant was denied permission to speak in public in the inquiry,” she said, reporting that “forty pages of my statement were deleted, all the statements were hidden behind numbers and symbols on the website.”

“You would imagine with a problem identified in the northern towns and cities like Rotherham and Rochdale and Middlesbrough and Halifax, you would have one of those towns included in a public inquiry looking at grooming gangs,” she said, adding that: “Not one was included. So we had an area like Swansea, St Helens, Warwickshire.”

“There is a massive imbalance in the witnesses, or the participants that have been called, and it meant that the vast majority of the time was being given to those organisations who have failed and still failing victims and survivors of child sexual exploitation and grooming gangs,” the Manchester Evening News reported her saying..

“This isn’t a historical problem, it is going on in every town and city in the north of England,” Oliver stressed. “Even now, even today and I have information from this weekend. This is not a historical problem.

“This is another attempt to silence those with an alternative viewpoint based on fact and knowledge… The establishment don’t want to hear that truth, they peddle out the same platitudes… They always say these are historical failures.

“These are not historical failures. These are current failures, that every single day children are being groomed by gangs of predatory men,” she said, asserting a belief that authorities’ unwillingness to investigate the issue could be “linked to the racial or the religious aspect of it”.

Other figures unimpressed by the inquiry’s focus include Sarah Champion, the Rotherham MP fired from Labour’s front benches for highlighting the problem of Pakistani rape gangs, and Rotherham victim Sammy Woodhouse.

“If you are going to get to the root of gang-related child sexual exploitation you need to go right to the heart of it,” Woodhouse said, blasting the statutory inquiry for being “selective in what they decide to look at”.

“They are trying to bury what happened in places like Rotherham and Rochdale because they’re scared of being called racist,” stated the campaigner, who has previously described herself as “just one of dozens of girls… exploited and viewed as white trash” by drug dealer Arshid Hussain and his associates.

According to the Times, Henrietta Hill QC told the hearing on its opening day that the inquiry “carefully considered the extent to which, if at all, it should focus on areas such as Rochdale, Rotherham and Oxford, all of which have attracted public attention”.

But the IICSA decided, according to Hill, that it would be better for the investigation to instead focus on “different areas, not least because it was intended that this was a forward-looking investigation building on analysis that’s already been done”.

“The two weeks of oral evidence was dominated by the questioning of institutional representatives from the six areas about their safeguarding practices in relation to child exploitation by organised network,” the Times said..

Research by the think tank Quilliam revealed that Muslim men from South Asian backgrounds accounted for 84 per cent of gang members involved in child sexual exploitation.

But critics, including writers in Britain’s highest circulation daily newspaper, have slammed “bleating” over the problem of Muslim rape gangs, claiming that talking about the issue distracts from “important discussions” around topics like “Islamophobia”, as Breitbart London reported earlier this year.”

    • Vile bastards have allowed this travesty to go on for generations. Diversity at the cost of hundreds of thousands lives. The Muslim mad men will tell you the dirty Kafirs deserve to be treated like scum, and the apologetic Politicians aid and abet them.

      • The intent isn’t “diversity”; that’s not how it works. It’s collaboration with an enemy bent on conquest. The only response that will tolerated is submission.

Especially with the southeast Asian demographic. Pakistan, Afghanistan – not countries, but tribal societies in uneasy truces. They’re importing their cultures like turtles carry their carapaces.

  10. Turkish lira drops to record low over US sanction threat (abcnews, Oct 26, 2020)
    https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/turkish-lira-drops-record-low-us-sanction-threat-73830990

“The Turkish currency slid further Monday to an all-time low against the U.S. dollar after President Recep Tayyip Erdogan challenged the United States to slap sanctions over his government’s decision to test its Russian-made air defense system.

The lira dropped another 1.3% to 8.06 against the dollar, a day after Erdogan dared Washington to impose sanctions after the NATO-member country tested the S-400 air defense system it purchased from Russia.

The purchase has already seen Turkey kicked off the U.S. F-35 stealth fighter program.

NATO has said that the Russian system poses a threat to the military alliance and particularly endangers the technical secrets of the F-35.

For months, the U.S. warned Ankara that it risked sanctions under the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act if the S-400 system was activated. President Donald Trump, however, has held back on implementing the sanctions amid hopes Erdogan will not go ahead with activating the missiles.

The lira has lost around 25% of its value this year as the coronavirus pandemic continues to batter the economy and amid concerns over Turkey’s troubled relations with the United States and several European nations.”

  11. Pakistan PM Imran Khan asks Facebook for stricter rules against Islamophobia

Pakistani Prime Minister and former cricketer, Imran Khan, has written an open letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg asking for a ban on Islamophobic content on Facebook. The Prime Minister said that Facebook should clamp down on Islamophobia as hard as it does with Holocaust denial.

As things stand right now, Facebook does include Islamophobia as hate speech and is against the platform’s community standards, however, Khan highlighted that cartoons had been allowed to be posted on Facebook without repercussions despite being viewed as blasphemous in Islam – Khan called it Islamophobic.

    https://twitter.com/ImranKhanPTI/status/1320440661385093121

In his letter, Prime Minister Khan said:

“Dear Mr. Zuckerberg, I am writing to draw your attention to the growing Islamophobia that is encouraging hate, extremism and violence across the world and especially through the use of social media platforms including Facebook. … The message of hate must be banned in total.”

The Pakistani government has been focused a lot on social media in the last several weeks. Earlier in the week, the government reversed its TikTok ban after initially raising concerns about “immoral” content. The block was lifted after the Chinese firm gave assurance to Pakistan’s government that it would ban immoral content. While Khan didn’t mention blocking Facebook if it did not act, there is precedence for a future ban.

  12. FRANCE – PARIS Restitution Activist Mwazulu Diyabanza Is in Prison Awaiting Trial After He Tried to Remove an Indonesian Sculpture From the Louvre

The Congolese activist Mwazulu Diyabanza was arrested at the Louvre on Thursday evening following a political protest during which the restitution advocate attempted to remove a sculpture from the museum. The action was part of the activist’s ongoing campaign for European museums to repatriate African heritage taken during the colonial era. He is currently in prison awaiting trial.

[…]The Louvre confirmed the incident to Artnet News. The work Diyabanza attempted to remove was one of a pair of late-18th-century guardian spirit figures from the island of Florès in Eastern Indonesia,

[…]Less than two weeks ago, Diyabanza avoided a ten-year prison sentence and a €150,000 fine for a similar action he took in June at the Musee quai Branly. His lawyers argued during his trial that the incident was not an attempted theft but a political protest, and the court issued him a €1,000 fine to discourage copycat protests.

  14. Morocco condemns publication of Prophet Mohammad cartoons – statement

RABAT (Reuters) – Morocco’s foreign ministry said on Sunday the continuing publication of “offensive” cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad is an act of provocation.

French media published the caricatures of the Prophet, which were also projected on some buildings, after the beheading of a French professor by an Islamist radical earlier this month.

While condemning savage acts perpetrated in the name of Islam, “Morocco denounces these provocations offending the sacredness of the Islamic religion,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.

  15. FOX News – US threatens to destroy Iranian missiles shipped to Venezuela

US warns it’ll destroy potential Iranian long-range missile shipment delivered to Maduro regime

The United States is warning it will destroy potential Iranian long-range missile shipments delivered to the Maduro regime in Venezuela, a senior administration official tells Fox News.

“The transfer of long-range missiles from Iran to Venezuela is not acceptable to the United States and will not be tolerated or permitted,” said Elliott Abrams, the State Department Special Representative for Iran and Venezuela.

“We will make every effort to stop shipments of long-range missiles, and if somehow they get to Venezuela they will be eliminated there,” added a senior administration official.

The officials provided no information that such shipments were imminent. They only claimed that Iran and Venezuela are a likely pair for arms deals.

“Iran has announced its intention to engage in arms sales, and Venezuela is an obvious target because those two pariah regimes already have a relationship,” said Abrams. “Venezuela is paying in gold to buy gasoline from Iran, and there is an Iranian presence in the country. Venezuela’s economy has collapsed, so every bar of gold for Iran is tens of thousands of dollars the Venezuelan people need for food and medicine.”

Last week, a United Nations embargo on Iran buying and selling conventional weapons expired. The Trump administration unsuccessfully tried to convince the United Nations Security Council to extend the embargo.

“Iran has shipped missiles to the Houthis, so we know they are ready, willing, and able to ship them to Venezuela and other possible buyers,” said the administration official. “Every delivery of Iranian arms destabilizes South America and the Caribbean, and is especially dangerous to Venezuela’s neighbors in Brazil, Colombia, and Guyana.”

      Say it ain’t so, Joe.
Thu Oct 22, 2020 Daniel Greenfield

The Biden family is notorious for being the crookedest clan not only in Delaware, but in D.C.

Delaware is a pretty small place, but D.C. is even smaller, yet the scope for corruption, unethical behavior, conflicts of interest, and even brazen thievery are far greater in Washington D.C.

And yet the Biden family stood out even there. To be born a Biden in the era after Joe switched his party affiliation, plagiarized his speeches, and inappropriately touched every woman or girl he could get his hands on in the state and the nation, was to be bred into dirty money.

Joe Biden was now asked in Wisconsin if Hunter had “profited off the Biden name”.

“None whatsoever,” the godfather of Delaware retorted. And the entire state laughed.

      Say it ain’t so, Joe.

It doesn’t matter if you’re a Democrat or a Republican, in Delaware, everyone knows that the Biden name means money in the bank. Literally. Just ask MBNA, Hunter’s former employer, whose executives poured $200,000 into Joe’s coffers, and one of whom bought his house.

  21. the guardian – Russia blamed for airstrike on training camp in north-west Syria

Rebel groups vow to retaliate after attack in Idlib that reportedly killed 50 Turkish-backed fighters

An airstrike on a rebel training camp in north-west Syria killed more than 50 Turkish-backed fighters and wounded nearly as many, in one of the heaviest blows to the opposition’s strongest groups, a spokesman and a war monitor said.

The opposition vowed to retaliate for the attack on Monday on Faylaq al-Sham, blaming Russia for the daytime attack. There was no immediate comment from Russia or Turkey, which have worked together to maintain a ceasefire in the rebel enclave, although they support opposite sides in Syria’s conflict.

Youssef Hammoud, a spokesman for the Syrian opposition, said the airstrike in the north-west of Idlib province, the last rebel enclave in Syria, targeted a military training camp for Faylaq al-Sham. Faylaq al-Sham is the largest Turkish-backed armed group and one of the most disciplined and best trained.

Turkey has long supported Syrian rebel forces and has used many of those fighters to bolster its military campaigns in Libya and Azerbaijan.

The camp, at Jebel al-Dweila, not far from the Turkish border, was hosting training sessions for new recruits, according to a war monitor and another opposition spokesman. Leaders of the camp were among those killed, according to Hammoud.

Journalists or activists in the area were not allowed near the camp and the extent of the damage was not immediately known,

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which monitors the war in Syria, gave a higher toll, at 78 fighters dead and nearly 90 wounded. Rescue efforts were still under way, the Observatory said. It said it also suspected the airstrike was carried out by Russia, which is a close ally of the Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, in the country’s civil war.

A hospital near the site of the explosion was overwhelmed with casualties and was forced to send wounded and dead to other facilities. A doctor in Idlib city said the city’s central hospital, more than 15 miles (24km) from the camp, had received two bodies and 11 wounded. All the casualties were fighters, the doctor said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not allowed to discuss the attack on an armed group. One media activist, Rashid al-Bakr, was among those killed, according to the Macro Media Center, an online news platform.

One Facebook group called on Idlib residents to check with hospitals in the city if they were missing relatives, a clear indication many remained unidentified.

Syrian rebel groups vowed to retaliate.

“We, the factions of the National Front for Liberation, will respond to these violations,” said Naji al-Mustafa, another spokesman for the Turkish-backed fighters, threatening to target government and Russian positions. He called the strike a “crime” by Russia.

Turkey and Russia brokered a truce in Idlib earlier this year to halt a government offensive that had displaced hundreds of thousands in the already overcrowded enclave. About a dozen Turkish observation points were deployed inside Idlib to monitor the truce, which remained shaky.

In recent days, there has been a resumption of strikes.

On Friday, airstrikes also targeted a local market for rudimentary fuel burners and diesel in the opposition-controlled region of Jarablus, in northern Aleppo. At least seven people were killed, according to the Observatory.

Last week, Turkish troops evacuated one of their largest military bases in the area, which was surrounded by Syrian government troops for months. Syrian opposition fighters said it was part of Turkey’s redeployment of its forces in the shrinking enclave.

  22. AstraZeneca Says Its CCP Virus Vaccine Triggers Immune Response in Adults

Drug manufacturer AstraZeneca said its CCP virus vaccine can trigger an immune response among adults, including among the young and the old.

AstraZeneca, which is developing the possible vaccine along with the University of Oxford, said adverse responses to the vaccine among the elderly were found to be lower.

“It is encouraging to see immunogenicity responses were similar between older and younger adults and that reactogenicity was lower in older adults, where the COVID-19 disease severity is higher,” an AstraZeneca spokesman told news outlets on Monday morning. “The results further build the body of evidence for the safety and immunogenicity of AZD1222,” the spokesman added, referring to the technical name for the vaccine.

A spokesman for Oxford University said the results “[mark] a key milestone” in the development of a vaccine, while reassuring “that the vaccine is safe for use and induces strong immune responses in both parts of the immune system in all adult groups.”

  23. WaPo: Even if Hunter Biden leaks aren’t Russian disinformation, let’s go on presumption they are
By LU Staff October 26, 2020

The title of this post is a paraphrase of what “TheIntercept’s” Glenn Greenwald pronounces in a Twitter thread “one of the clearest and most important sentences you’ll read, showing how US media really works.” The original sentence, which appears in a Washington Post op-ed by Thomas Rid, author of “Active Measures: The Secret History of Disinformation and Political Warfare,” reads, “We must treat the Hunter Biden leaks as if they were a foreign intelligence operation — even if they probably aren’t.”

  24. Qatar condemned for “disturbing” exams of women passengers after newborn baby found abandoned at airport
    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/qatar-airport-exams-women-passengers-condemned-australia/?intcid=CNI-00-10aaa3b
Australia on Monday condemned Qatar authorities\u0027 treatment of female passengers on a flight to Sydney who were subjected to internal examinations after a newborn baby was found abandoned at a Doha airport. The women, including 13 Australians, were examined at Hamad International Airport on Oct. 2 after Qatar Airways Flight 908 to Sydney was delayed.
Australia’s foreign affairs department described the treatment of the women as inappropriate and beyond circumstances in which they could give free and informed consent.
“This is a grossly, grossly disturbing, offensive, concerning set of events,” Foreign Minister Marise Payne told reporters. “It’s not something that I’ve ever heard of occurring in my life, in any context. We have made our views very clear to the Qatari authorities on this matter.
“Australia will await a report from the Qatari government before “we will determine the next steps,” Payne said.
She said the matter was reported to Australian Federal Police, but did not explain what action police might take. Police said in a statement they are working with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade on the matter and that further comment would be inappropriate.
The baby was still unidentified and was being cared for by medical and social workers, airport officials said in a statement sent to The Associated Press.
Medical professionals were concerned for the mother’s health and had requested she be located, it said. “Individuals who had access to a specific area of the airport where the newborn infant was found were asked to assist in the query,” it added.
The statement did not acknowledge the forced examinations.
The women were examined in an ambulance parked on the tarmac, Seven Network News reported.
Wolfgang Babeck, who was returning home to Australia on the flight, said women were taken from the plane regardless of their age.
“When the women came back, many of them or probably all of them were upset. One of them was in tears, a younger woman, and people couldn’t believe what had happened,” Babeck said.
“They told me they had to take their underwear off or their clothes from the bottom and then it was inspected whether they had given birth,”

  25. Why Does Barr Let Wray Lie and Flout the Law?

    by Chris Farrell
    October 26, 2020 at 5:00 am

One is supposed to believe that Attorney General William Barr is in charge of the Department of Justice, and that FBI Director Christopher Wray works for Barr. Both men purportedly work for President Donald J. Trump. President Trump has been very clear about his desire and directives to declassify and release all materials related to the “Russia!” hoax. The President is consistently ignored by his staff.

Judicial Watch submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request on February 16, 2018, to the FBI. It sought text messages sent from January 1, 2015, to December 31, 2015, between FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and FBI attorney Lisa Page, FBI Special Agent Jennifer Leonard, FBI Special Agent Peter Strzok, and/or Obama administration Homeland Security Advisor Lisa Monaco. In response, the FBI denied the request, asserting (incredibly) that text messages are not subject to FOIA.

Judicial Watch challenged the FBI’s determination. It filed an administrative appeal with the Department of Justice arguing that “text messages involving government-related business sent between government officials, whom all of the persons identified in the scope of the request are, do in fact constitute government records that fall within the purview of FOIA.” [Emphasis added]

  27. Gates-Funded UW Study Finds Hydroxychloroquine Doesn’t Prevent COVID-19

A large clinical trial conducted by the University of Washington found that people who took hydroxychloroquine were just as likely to get COVID-19 as those who took a placebo, adding to growing evidence that the drug promoted by President Donald Trump early in the pandemic doesn’t seem to work against the novel coronavirus.

Nearly 800 people from 38 states volunteered for the trial, which was funded with $9.5 million from the COVID-19 Therapeutics Accelerator, a research fund created by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the British philanthropy Wellcome, and others.

Coronavirus: Trudeau, Tam respond to “COVID internment camps” conspiracy theories

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, along with the country’s chief medical officer of health, Dr. Theresa Tam, were asked about a rise in misinformation on the COVID-19 pandemic on Tuesday.

Trudeau said he was recently asked about “COVID internment camps,” replying that we need to be “attentive to source” and look for “trusted sources.” He also said there’s a lot of “noise” and “harmful misinformation” circulating on the internet. “We need to hold together and resist people who would sew chaos within our communities and democracy,” Trudeau said.

Tam said internet and social media platforms are trying different tactics to quell the “outrageous disinformation” by pointing people to credible sources, as well as removing, de-monetizing, and throttling misinformation.

When asked about vaccine confidence she added that “we need to immunize the population against misinformation before the vaccine arrives.”

  29. French Websites Targeted By Alleged Islamist Cyber Attacks (breitbart, Oct 26, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/10/26/french-websites-targeted-by-alleged-islamist-cyber-attacks/

“French websites were targeted by alleged Islamist cyber attacks Sunday, thought to be in response to comments made by French President Emmanuel Macron.

The cyberattack was confirmed by an official French government Twitter account on Sunday which stated that a number of sites were under attack and many had been defaced by hackers.

According to a report from European broadcaster Europe1, the messages included Islamist sentiments with one stating, “Victory for Mohammed, Victory for Islam and Death to France,” and another showing a picture of the French president as a pig was posted to the Regional Technical Centre for Visual Impairment website.

An alleged group of Islamic hackers took credit for the attack on one website and left a message saying, “Operation launched by Muslim hackers against France for insulting the Prophet Mohammad and publicly desecrating Islam.”

Broadcaster TF1 also had its Facebook page inundated with violent messages and other hateful rhetoric toward both President Macron and France. The hackers behind the cyber attacks are thought to come from Bangladesh but little is known about the group.

The attacks come as many in the Islamic world have reacted strongly to comments made by President Macron in the wake of the murder of French teacher Samuel Paty who was beheaded in the street by a radical Islamic terrorist after showing his class cartoons of Mohammed.

Supermarkets in Qatar and Kuwait have vowed to boycott French goods and Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has not only called for a similar boycott but claimed that President Macron is mentally ill due to his comments.

“Macron needs treatment on a mental level,” Erdogan said and added, “What else can be said to a head of state who does not understand freedom of belief and who behaves in this way to millions of people living in his country who are members of a different faith?”

Following the comments from the Turkish leader, France withdrew its Turkish ambassador for “consultations.””
