Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

    https://saudigazette.com.sa/article/599565/World/Mena/Lawsuit-against-Qatar-in-US-for-Hamas-funding

“The Palestinian terror group Hamas is secretly operating a facility in Turkey where it is carrying out cyberattacks and counterintelligence operations, according to a British newspaper report on Friday.

Citing Western intelligence sources, The Times of London said the headquarters was set up two years ago and is overseen by Hamas military leaders in the Gaza Strip.

The headquarters, which is separate from Hamas’s official offices in the city, was set up without the knowledge of Turkish authorities, the report said.

The facility is reportedly overseen by Samakh Saraj, a senior member of the terror group who reports directly to Yahya Sinwar, the head of Hamas in Gaza.

The report said the headquarters’ missions included obtaining “dual-use” equipment for producing weapons; coordinating cyberattacks against Hamas’s enemies.

Meanwhile, Qatar, the main financier of Hamas, is facing a lawsuit lodged against it before a US court in New York city.

According to the charges, several Qatari financial institutions, controlled to a large extent by Emir Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, provided millions of dollars to the Palestinian Hamas and Islamic Jihad movements under the cover of “charitable donations.”

The lawsuit alleges that these institutions used the American banking system to finance Palestinian groups illegally. — Agencies”

“The Senior Scholars Council confirmed on Sunday that defaming Prophets and Messengers will never harm them, but only serves extremists who want to spread calls for hatred among humanitarian communities.

In a statement, the Council urged wise and prudent men of the world community, including individuals and organizations, to denounce such insults as they are not related to freedom of expression or wise thinking but only fall within offering free service to extremists.

The statement stated that Islam prohibited accusing any Prophet of lying or wrong-doing and barred attacking religious figures whoever.

The Council said Muslims ought to disseminate the profile of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), citing his mercy, justice, tolerance and working for the good.”

“France is facing a backlash across the Arab world over the use of cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad, which have prompted protests and growing calls for the boycott of French products.

About 200 people protested outside the residence of France’s ambassador to Israel on Saturday against the cartoons, while on Sunday, retail co-ops in Kuwait pulled French products from their shelves.

In Saudi Arabia, the Arab world’s largest economy, a hashtag calling for the boycott of French supermarket retailer Carrefour was the second most trending on Sunday.

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-britain-security-ship/uk-sbs-special-forces-storm-tanker-and-detain-stowaways-in-channel-idUSKBN27A0LT

“British special forces stormed a Greek-operated oil tanker in the English channel on Sunday to wrestle control of the vessel from seven stowaways who had threatened the crew in a suspected hijacking.

Troops from the Special Boat Service, a navy special forces unit whose headquarters in just a few miles away from where the vessel began showing signs of distress, boarded the Nave Andromeda near the Isle of Wight off southern England.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace and Home Secretary Priti Patel authorised the armed forces to board the ship “to safeguard life and secure a ship that was subject to suspected hijacking”, the defence ministry said.

“Armed forces have gained control of the ship and seven individuals have been detained,” the ministry said. “Initial reports confirm the crew are safe and well.”

The defence ministry declined to confirm or deny the involvement of the SBS – in line with British government policy of not commenting on special forces operations.

But a source with knowledge of the matter said the SBS were involved. SBS operations are usually classified. Former Royal Navy warfare officer Chris Parry said the SBS had been involved.

The navy’s Special Boat Service, considered a sister unit to the Special Air Service Regiment (SAS), is one of Britain’s most secretive special forces units.

An elite maritime counter-terrorism unit, the SBS traces its history back to World War Two and has been involved in many of the conflicts of the past 70 years including Afghanistan and Iraq.

The SBS’s closest equivalent in the United States is the SEAL Team Six, or Task Force Blue.

  7. Arabs favour Biden over Trump in US election: poll
    https://gulfnews.com/world/americas/arabs-favour-biden-over-trump-in-us-election-poll-1.1603649695134

“Democratic nominee Joe Biden substantially leads his Republican opponent Donald Trump as the Arab world’s preferred candidate in next month’s US presidential candidate, an opinion poll indicated Sunday.

Out of 3,097 people polled across 18 Middle East and North African countries, around 39 percent favoured Biden while only 12 percent opted for Trump, according to the survey carried out by British pollster YouGov and commissioned by Saudi daily Arab News.

“When asked which candidate would be better for the Arab World if elected president, most believe that neither candidate (49 percent) would fulfil such a description, yet Biden is still considered a better option to Trump,” the survey said.

The November 3 election, in which incumbent Trump is fighting to secure a second term in office, is being closely watched across the Arab world, where the United States plays a key role.

“If the Arab world were choosing the next president, Biden would win by a landslide,” YouGov’s chief Stephan Shakespeare told AFP.

“But that’s partly because they don’t know much about Biden – only half say they have heard of them, while nearly everyone has heard of Trump.”

Should Biden win, some 58 percent of Arabs said he “must distance himself from the Obama administration policies.”

Biden served as vice president in the Obama administration.

Trump won some support in the poll for scrapping an Obama-era nuclear agreement with Tehran and imposing strict sanctions against the Iranian regime, but only 17 percent Arabs felt his stance would made the region safer.

The poll listed youth empowerment, the Arab-Israeli conflict and the global coronavirus pandemic among the top three concerns Arabs would like the next US president to focus on.”

“Egypt’s Azhar’s Grand Imam Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayyeb condemned on Sunday what he deemed as a “systematic campaign” against Islam that aims to involve Islamic symbols in political conflicts.

In posts on social networking sites, Facebook and Twitter – in Arabic, English and French – Tayyeb said ” We will not accept our religious symbols becoming victims of election campaigns in the political arena.”

He renounced the sinister attack on Prophet Muhammed saying ” I say to those who justify insulting the Prophet of Islam, the real issue lies in your hypocritical ideologies and petty agendas.”

“I would also like to remind you that a leader’s utmost responsibilities are to maintain civil peace, as well as preserve social harmony, respect religions, avoid strife, and not fuel conflict in the name of freedom of expression,” the grand imam added.

  10. Kuwait, Pakistan, Jordan Condemn Repeated Insults to Islam in France
    https://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2020/10/323668/kuwait-pakistan-jordan-condemn-repeated-insults-to-islam-in-france/

“Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry and other countries and organizations condemned the continuous display of Charlie Hebdo’s caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad amid controversial remarks French President Emmanuel Macron made against Islam.

Retail firms in Kuwait decided on October 23 to remove French products from stores to oppose the recent Islamophobia in France and the “repeated insults” against the prophet, according to Reuters.

On October 16, an 18-year-old student from Chechnya murdered Samuel Paty, a history teacher who displayed caricatures of the prophet in a class on freedom of speech.

The murder ignited outrage in France and triggered a wave of Islamophobia against Muslim communities. A speech by Macron earlier in October also angered Muslims after he said Islam is in crisis worldwide, pledging to enforce several measures against “Islamist separatism.”

Macron also defended Charlie Hebdo’s offensive cartoons as emblems of France’s commitment to freedom of expression.

After Paty’s murder, France’s interior ministry launched a campaign against Islamic associations, cracking down on “extremist” organizations and individuals.

The recent developments in France angered Muslims worldwide, with many now using hashtags on social media to call for boycotts of French products.

Apart from Kuwait, several countries and organizations condemned Islamophobia and insults to the Prophet Muhammad.

    Pakistan takes a stand

Among the countries that recently showed an official stance against Macron’s remarks and the caricatures is Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan published a series of tweets to condemn Macron’s remarks.

The Pakistani official accused Macron of encouraging Islamophobia.

“Hallmark of a leader is he unites human beings,” the Pakistani PM wrote.

He said that Macron could have favored a healing approach “and denied space to extremists rather than creating further polarization and marginalization that inevitably leads to radicalization.”

The official also denounced how Macron has “chosen to encourage Islamophobia by attacking Islam rather than the terrorists who carry out violence, be it Muslims, White Supremacists or Nazi ideologists.”

    Anger in the Arab world

The Kingdom of Jordan also condemned the continued use of the cartoons offending Islam and its prophet in the wake of Paty’s murder.

Saudi Gazette quoted the spokesman for the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Daifallah Al Fayez, who expressed Jordan’s condemnation, saying the cartoons’ repeated display “represents an insult to the feelings of nearly 2 billion Muslims.”

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Nayef Al-Hajraf also denounced Macron’s remarks on Islam, calling them “irresponsible.”

Like the Pakistani PM, Al-Hajraf also believes Macron’s remarks are fueling hatred between Muslims and French people rather than healing the country after the attack.

The general secretariat of the Jeddah-based Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) also decried the continued attacks against Islam in France.

The OIC condemned the beheading of Samuel Paty along with “discourse from certain French politicians, which it deems to be harmful to Muslim-French relations, hate-mongering, and only serving partisan political interests.”

The general secretariat reaffirmed that the OIC will always condemn “practices of blasphemy and of insulting Prophets of Islam, Christianity, and Judaism.””

  11. Turkey blasts far-right politician Wilders for cartoon insulting Erdo?an
    https://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/turkey-blasts-far-right-politician-wilders-for-cartoon-insulting-erdogan-159456

“Turkish officials have slammed Dutch far-right politician Geert Wilders for a Twitter post he shared of a cartoon insulting President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an.

“Fascism is not in our book, it’s in your book. Social justice is in our book,” Erdo?an said at a meeting of his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) in the eastern Malatya province, calling Wilders a “fascist.”

“The forces that make the world uninhabitable have put us on the target board because we disrupt their games and reveal their true faces,” Erdo?an said, adding: “We will carry on.”

“When truth spoken to their faces Europe’s loser racists showed up again. Trying to exploit Islamophobia and xenophobia. Time has come to stop Europe’s spoiled politicians with fascist mindset,” Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavu?o?lu tweeted on Oct. 25.

Turkish Presidential Communications Directorate head Fahrettin Altun also criticized Wilders.

“Europe is an increasingly dangerous place for Muslims. The dog-whistle politics of offensive caricatures, accusations of separatism against Muslims and mosque raids isn’t about freedom of expression,” he tweeted.

“It’s about intimidating and reminding Muslims that they are welcome to keep the European economy going, but they will never belong — against the backdrop of lectures about integration. Everything we see about Muslims in European public culture today is eerily familiar to the demonization of the European Jewry in the 1920s,” Altun said.

“Some European leaders today do not just target Muslims in their midst. They attack our sacred values, our scripture, our prophet and our political leaders — our way of life,” he said.

“Europe’s hostility towards Muslims and efforts to ‘discipline’ them is inseparable from the increasingly widespread hostility towards Islam, Turkey and our President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an,” Altun said.

“Here’s what those Europeans need to understand: Muslims won’t go away because you don’t want us. We won’t turn the other cheek when you insult us,” he said, adding that Turkey will defend itself at all costs.

The AKP’s parliamentary group chairman, Naci Bostanc?, said Wilders “is prisoner to his dirty rhetoric.” “We hope the Dutch, who belong to the civilized world, will do what’s necessary,” he said, adding his expectation that the politician will be elected again in the next Dutch elections.

“Despicable, enemy of humanity and fascist … It is a duty to fight these despicable fascists,” AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik said.”

  12. Turkey ‘neutralizes’ 3 PKK terrorists in northern Iraq
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/turkey/turkey-neutralizes-3-pkk-terrorists-in-northern-iraq/2018340

“Turkey “neutralized” three PKK terrorists in an air operation in northern Iraq, the National Defense Ministry said on Sunday.

The terrorists, who were plotting an attack, were neutralized in the Gara region, said a statement by the ministry.

Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralize” to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.

PKK terrorists often use northern Iraq, across Turkey’s border, as a base to plan attacks on Turkey.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and EU — has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.”

  13. France calls on Arab countries to stop boycott of French products
    https://www.france24.com/en/middle-east/20201025-france-calls-on-arab-countries-to-stop-boycott-of-french-products

“France urged Sunday Arab countries to stop calls for boycotts of French products, while President Emmanuel Macron vowed the country would never give in to Islamic radicals.

The French foreign affairs ministry said in a statement released on Sunday that in recent days there had been calls to boycott French products, notably food products, in several Middle Eastern countries as well as calls for demonstrations against France over the publication of satirical cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad.

“These calls for boycott are baseless and should stop immediately, as well as all attacks against our country, which are being pushed by a radical minority,” the statement said.

On Sunday, Macron said in a tweet: “We will not give in, ever” to Islamic radicals. “We do not accept hate speech and defend reasonable debate,” the French leader added.

    Boycotts already underway

Calls to boycott French goods are already growing in the Arab world and beyond, after President Emmanuel Macron criticised Islamists and vowed not to “give up cartoons” depicting the Prophet Mohammed.

Macron’s initial comments, on Wednesday, came in response to the beheading of a teacher, Samuel Paty, outside his school in a suburb outside Paris earlier this month, after he had shown cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed during a class he was leading on free speech.

Muslims see any depiction of the Prophet as blasphemous.

Kuwait’s non-governmental Union of Consumer Co-operative Societies have already pulled several French products in boycott. Several co-ops visited by Reuters on Sunday had cleared the shelves of items such as hair and beauty products made by French companies.

“All French products have been removed from all Consumer Cooperative Societies,” union head Fahd Al-Kishti told Reuters, adding that the move was in response to “repeated insults” against the Prophet and had been taken independently of Kuwait’s government.

    Boycott calls on social media

The co-ops, some the size of hypermarkets, carry government-subsidised staples for Kuwaitis and account for a big part of retail in the country, as well as organising some educational courses and recreational activities.

In Saudi Arabia, the Arab world’s largest economy, a hashtag calling for the boycott of French supermarket retailer Carrefour was the second most trending on Sunday.

Similar boycott calls have also been issued by groups in Jordan and Qatar.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation on Friday decried the brutal murder that has shaken France but also criticised the “justification for blasphemy-based harassment of any religion in the name of freedom of expression”.”

  14. Pakistani PM writes to Facebook CEO seeking ban on Islamophobic content

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) – Pakistan’s prime minister has written a letter to Facebook FB.O CEO Mark Zuckerberg seeking a ban on Islamophobic content on the site, warning of an increase in radicalisisation amongst Muslims, the government said on Sunday.

In the letter, shared by the Pakistani government on Twitter, Imran Khan said that “growing Islamophobia” is encouraging extremism and violence across the world — especially through social media platforms such as Facebook.

“I would ask you to place a similar ban on Islamophobia and hate against Islam for Facebook that you have put in place for the Holocaust,” Khan said.

Facebook said this month it was updating its hate speech policy to ban any content that denied or distorted the Holocaust.

Facebook did not immediately reply to Reuters’ request for comment on Khan’s letter.

“One cannot send a message that while hate messages against some are unacceptable, these are acceptable against others,” Khan said, adding that this was “reflective of prejudice and bias that will encourage further radicalisation”.

Khan in his letter made reference to the situation in France, where, he said, Islam was being associated with terrorism.

Earlier on Sunday, Khan said that French President Emmanuel Macron had “attacked Islam” by encouraging the display of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammad.

Khan’s comments came after Macron paid tribute to a French history teacher beheaded by an Islamist radical who wanted to avenge the use of cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammad in a class on freedom of expression.

  15. Bangladeshi hackers claim responsibility for attacking French commercial websites

‘A dangerous apocalypse is ahead for France Cyberspace and we will continue the assault until you beg for forgiveness,’ Cyber 71 posted on Facebook

A Bangladeshi hacker group, Cyber 71, claimed responsibility for carrying out a series of cyber attacks on several French commercial websites on Sunday.

From their Facebook page, “Cyber 71 -We Work to Protect Bangladesh,” the hacker group updated a list of 10 French websites which they claimed have hacked since early Sunday.

On October 16, a history teacher was beheaded for showing cartoons of the Prophet Mohamed in a free speech lesson in a gruesome attack that has shocked the country and prompted a government crackdown on radical Islam.

Visiting the websites upto 6pm, the hacked interface (cover page) by Cyber 71 was found in six sites. Four among them were showing the regular homepage.

The Facebook post stated that eight more French websites have come under attack by a team of Algeria named, achraf Dz.

“Operation launched by Muslim Hackers against France for insulting Prophet Muhammad (SM) and abusing Islam publicly. A dangerous apocalypse is ahead for France Cyberspace and we will continue the assault until you beg for forgiveness. Get Ready! — Greetz # Cyber 71, All Hackers of #OPFRANCH, #BoycottFrenceProducts,” the claimed hacked website homepage stated.

An instrumental audio was heard playing in the background while visiting the reportedly hacked websites, and a photograph of Emmanuel Macron – with eyes closed – were displayed.

Cyber 71 also stated from their Facebook page: “In the country where our Prophet (pbuh) has been mocked, music is now playing on the websites of that country in respect of him (Prophet).”

They said they would continue the attack until the French authorities “begged for forgiveness” publicly, the hacker group claimed.

A member from the hacking group also claimed to the media that they have hacked 40-50 important commercial websites of France but all the names were not published. They have allegedly targeted more websites to carry out cyber attacks.

Cyber 71, in a latest post around 5:40pm on Sunday, urged people to hack French websites following training from another Facebook group (OpFR by Bangladesh) by sharing their link.

When contacted over an email regarding the confirmation of the cyber attacks, the French Embassy in Dhaka was yet to respond.

AFM Al Kibria, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s cyber crime investigation department, told Dhaka Tribune: “Hacking is a criminal offence, we always discourage it.”

“The hacking of French websites by Cyber 71 is not under our concern so far. If we get any complaint regarding this, we will take necessary measures afterwards,” the law enforcement official added.

    What transpired in France?

The teacher, Samuel Paty, 47, was targeted for having shown caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad published by the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, the same images at the origin of the massacre on the magazine’s premises in 2015, reports the New York Times.

The killer, 18-year-old Abdullakh Anzorov, was shot dead by police shortly after the attack.

On Wednesday, prosecutors said Anzorov had paid two teenage students around €300 ($355) to identify Paty.

The killer told the students he wanted to “film the teacher [and] make him apologise for the cartoon of the Prophet [Muhammad]”, anti-terrorism prosecutor Jean-François Ricard said at a press conference.

Police have raided some 40 homes following the attack, and the government also ordered a mosque to close for six months.

On Tuesday, President Macron said the Sheikh Yassin Collective – an Islamist group named after the founder of the Palestinian militant group Hamas – would be outlawed for being “directly involved” in the killing.

“Islamists want to take our future,” Macron said, reports AFP. “They will never have it.”

He said the ban was a way of protecting France’s Muslim community from the influence of radicalism.
