A man has been arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder for allegedly shooting two Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies while they were sitting in their patrol vehicle in Compton earlier this month.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva held a news conference Monday morning announcing the arrest of Deonte Lee Murray, 36, who is accused of carrying out the high-profile ambush attack on Sept. 12 that put both officers in the hospital with serious multiple gunshot wounds.

One wounded officer was identified as Claudia Apolinar, 31 — a former librarian and the mother of a 6-year-old boy…

8. French Butcher Attacked With Tear Gas By Children For Selling Pork

Children as young as twelve years old attacked a butcher in the French city of Lyon, allegedly over the shop selling pork products.

The attacks took place on September 19th at the butcher shop located in the 8th arrondissement of Lyon with the first incident at around 4 pm just seeing the children hurl insults at the employees. “They were blaming us for selling pork,” one of the butchers said.

Around fifteen minutes several of the workers at the shop went outside and told the children to go elsewhere, the three returned to the shop with a tear gas canister and emptied it in the shop with customers inside, local newspaper Le Progrèsreports.

Police arrived on the scene and chased off the six children but they arrived back on the scene once again shortly after 6 pm with another three young people. According to one employee, a member of the group took out a fake gun to threaten the shop.

9. Bold ads promoting child-free, small families get noticed in Vancouver

(Dear Canadians. better have all the kids you want now before Trudeau goes all “Xi who must be obeyed” on us all.)

Several ads encouraging single-child or child-free families are starting to pop up across Vancouver.

The “One Planet, One Child” says its campaign has been launched to hasten progress toward a small family norm, leading to a sustainable world population.

On its website, the group says their goal is to “educate that overpopulation is a root cause of resource depletion, species extinction, poverty, and climate change.”

10. Trump Effect: Big Bet on Virus Drug Still Winning

The president’s pandemic policies are under fire, but in one area a big Trumpian bet is still coming up a winner. Three new studies suggest that the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine (HC) shows success in the fight against the coronavirus.

In Michigan, a study of more than 2,500 patients at six Detroit-area hospitals found that HC, administered early, significantly cut the death rate. “Our analysis shows that that using hydroxychloroquine helped save lives,” said Steven Kalkanis, CEO of the Henry Ford Health System. “It needs to be used early,” he added. “It needs to be used in a hospital setting.”

In New York City, researchers with the Mt. Sinai Health System studying more than 6000 patients with Covid-19 found they died at a lower rate when treated with HC. In the study, after adjusting for other risk factors, the Mt. Sinai researchers found that “hydroxychloroquine use was associated with decreased in-hospital mortality.”

And in India, a massive study of more than 300,000 people, including front line medical personnel, found that HC provided prophylactic benefits. “The task force of medical experts, including physicians and super specialists, have recommend and backed the drive to administer HC in cluster areas and high exposure cases,” a senior medical official told the Indian Express. “The benefits seem to far outweigh the debate around its risks and it has certainly helped in implementing the preventive strategies.”
