Reader’s Links for September 27, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. (Richard: This story sounds like something that would happen in the mountains at the LAC between India and China instead this happened between Russia and the US in Syria. The Russians should have waited until they discover who is going to win in November before they start confrontations like this.)

U.S. Reinforces Troops in Syria After Clashes With RussiansRussian military provocations against the small contingent of U.S. forces in Syria have escalated in recent weeks. This has led to exchanges of gunfire, and a clash between Russian and U.S. tactical vehicles in late August, where seven American soldiers were injured.

Video shown on Twitter clearly shows the Russian vehicle ramming into the U.S. vehicle as Russian Mi-8 and Mi-35 helicopters pass low overhead as intimidation.

  2. (Richard: JE is in real good form today and the article is well worth the time it takes to read. She implies but doesn’t state that we need some form of a Constitutional Convention to amend the Constitution to prevent the Silent Coup/Communist Insurrection from occurring again. She says that she thinks we are in more danger then in 1861 and she is probably right, back then the left wanted to split the nation and go their own way. Now they want to seize total control of the nation and force us to live the way they want.)

Why we had to go through all this
    By J.E. Dyer September 27, 2020

This will be relatively short. It’s not to pick on anyone in particular that I feature this tweet, because it’s representative of the sentiments of many.

I understand. I don’t just understand; I see, fully and completely, how compelling is the point of view. Of course we should have seen Wray removed from his position and replaced long since.

Of course Robert Mueller and his special counsel team should never have been appointed. Of course, having been appointed for no good reason, Mueller should have recognized clearly that there was nothing to find, no matter how hard his team dug, and he should have filed a close-out in May 2017.

Of course every wrong done in the continuation of Spygate since Trump took office should have been averted by firing people.

Of course none of the people who have pled to or been convicted of process crimes should have ever been under the gun in the first place, starting with General Flynn.

It would have been the right thing, at any point along the way, to just do the right thing at the time. Take the appropriate step(s) if the misconduct was discovered: discipline and fire the people involved, sever their benefits if possible, cause them to leave government under a cloud.

There was nothing to charge them with back then, for the most part. Their bad faith and improper operations were becoming obvious, but that doesn’t mean there was evidence they were guilty of provable crimes. They still should most certainly have been reprimanded, fired, their reputations permanently stained.

(Richard: The reason she is so careful about what she calls for is that we have to try and do everything by the book and let the legal system break the rebellion or risk losing the fight because we have become the rebels breaking the law. This is the problem that all of the Patriots in all of the Western Nations face, we are limited in what we can do until after the left throws all semblance of Rule Of Law out the window.

  3. Well-known analyst on the South Caucasus Thomas de Waal is convinced that Azerbaijan was the first to launch hostilities on the Artsakh-Azerbaijani line of contact, as Armenia has no motive to start a war. As reported by “Armenpress”, Waal said this in an interview with “Ahval” agency.

“The Armenian side won the war in the 1990s, they have the territory they want. “Their motive is to regulate the status quo,” Waal said.

Thomas de Waal added that for several reasons, Azerbaijan believes that hostilities will bring it victory.

  4. Iran Urges Iraq’s Legal Action on Assassination of Gen. Soleimani

“Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani called on Iraq to seriously pursue the case of American assassination of top Iranian commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani.

In a meeting with Iraq’s Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, held in Tehran on Sunday, Shamkhani said Iran expects the Baghdad government to seriously pursue the cowardly move through international organizations.

Denouncing the American assassination of Lt. General Soleimani and Iraqi commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis as a brazen example of state-sponsored terrorism, Shamkhani said the least punishment for such a grave crime is that those behind the plot must immediately get out of the region, specifically out of Iraq.

For his part, Hussein praised Iran for supporting the Iraqi government and nation in the fight against Takfiri terrorism, stressing that no foreign party can undermine the close relations between the two neighbors…”

  5. IRGC Unveils New Naval Ballistic Missile
    https://www.tasnimnews.com/en/news/2020/09/27/2357663/irgc-unveils-new-naval-ballistic-missile

“The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps unveiled a new naval ballistic missile with a range of over 700 kilometers.

The IRGC’s new ballistic missile, “Zolfaqar Basir”, has been put on display in a permanent exhibition of the achievements of the IRGC Aerospace Force that was inaugurated on Sunday morning.

Known as the latest version of a new generation of ‘Persian Gulf’ missiles, Zolfaqar Basir has a range of above 700 kilometers and its warhead is equipped with an optical seeker.

The range of the IRGC’s previous naval missiles, Persian Gulf and Hormuz, was around 300 and 250 km respectively.

The ground-to-ground version of Zolfaqar missile has a range of about 750 kilometers. It was used in an operation against Daesh terrorists in Syria in October 2018 and in a missile attack on the US airbase of Ain al-Assad in Iraq in January 2020.

Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missile power, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will be never subject to negotiations.

Back in February 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called for efforts to maintain and boost Iran’s defense capabilities, hitting back at the enemies for disputing the country’s missile program.

“Without a moment of hesitation, the country must move to acquire whatever is necessary for defense, even if the whole world is opposed to it,” Ayatollah Khamenei said at the time.”

“Azerbaijan’s parliament on Sunday declared a state of war in some of its cities and regions following Armenia’s border violations and attacks in the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region.

In an extraordinary meeting, the National Assembly passed a measure partially and temporarily restricting the constitutional and property rights and freedoms of Azerbaijani citizens and foreigners in the country as long as the war situation continues.

Under the decision, a curfew may also be declared at certain times in some regions.

Border clashes broke out earlier Sunday after Armenian forces targeted Azerbaijani civilian settlements, and military positions. The number of casualties is not yet known…”
