Reader’s Links for September 26, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. Convicted Dutch terrorist helped 12 women escape ISIS camps, Prosecutor says
    https://nltimes.nl/2020/09/24/convicted-dutch-terrorist-helped-12-women-escape-isis-camps-prosecutor-says

Former member of the Hofstad group and convicted terrorist Samir A. helped at least 12 women who are on the national terrorism sanction list escape from ISIS camps in Syria, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) said in the court in Rotterdam on Thursday, NU.nl reports.

The OM said that the women are or were on the terrorism sanction list because they were suspected of involvement in terrorist activities. That was why their assets were frozen, and the financial support A. gave them can therefore be characterized as financing terrorism. “Samir A. played a crucial role in the escapes,” the OM said. “He is part of an international network of smugglers and his actions keep these women out of sight of governments and allow them to return unseen to their country of origin or move freely in Syria and rejoin ISIS.”

    A. does not deny supporting the women financially, but sees it as emergency aid, his lawyer Tamara Buruma said in court. She pointed out that the only way these women could escape the terrorist organization is with the help of smugglers. A. said that he gave the women only enough money to live on. “The large amounts went to the smugglers,” he said.

Buruma said that her client gave several interviews in March 2019 in which he already admitted to raising money to help the women and children in detention- and refugee camps in Syria. At that same time he also contacted the OM to bring this to its attention, the lawyer said.

According to the OM, some of the women A. helped escape have moved to Idlib, where many ISIS fighters are still located. None of the women returned to the Netherlands so the emergency aid explanation “as sketched by the defense” holds no water, the OM said.

The court said that it was aware of the dire situation in the Syrian camps and called this a “case of principle”, but still decided to remand A. into custody until the next hearing on December 15.

  2. Father could face 9 years for Amsterdam girl’s abduction
    https://nltimes.nl/2020/09/23/father-face-9-years-amsterdam-girls-abduction
The Public Prosecution Service (OM) demanded 9 years in prison against Shehzad Hemani for the abduction of his now 6-year-old daughter Insiya from Amsterdam in 2016. The Dutch authorities were unable to bring Hemani to the Netherlands for his trial, so he was tried in absentia. As far as is known, Hemani and Insiya are both in India, NU.nl reports.

Hemani’s cousin Imran S. is believed to be one of the men who abducted the then 2 year old girl from her grandmother’s Amsterdam apartment on 29 September 2016. The Prosecutor demanded 4 years in prison against him.

Inisya’s mother, Nadia Rashid, spoke in court, Het Parool reports. “On the day of the abduction, Insya said: ‘see you mom’. It’s been years now. There is not a day that I do not think about it. It’s an unhealthy obsession of her farther to teach me a lesson,” she said.

“Hemani does not have Insiya’s interests at heart. We have only been able to speak three times. The last time was in 2018. Insiya knew then that I am her mommy and showed me her hair and her dress and that she could braid her hair,” Rashid said.

Hemani filed multiple lawsuits against Rashid in India. “He twists the facts and portrays me as an ogre. This is not the story of a desperate father. I am intimidated by Hemani every day. My family and friends are harassed and warned. He sends threatening letters to the media and officials.”

“Our family life has been destroyed. No hugs or kisses have been given for four years,” Rashid said with tears streaming down her face. “Insiya can’t tell me how her day was, what she wants for dinner what stories mom should read. She hasn’t seen mommy celebrating her birthday every year, even though she’s thousands of miles away.”

“Lost time will not be returned. Soon there will be a ruling and all legal remedies will be over, but the question of when I will get my child back has not been answered. Not knowing when she’ll be back is horrible. There is no closure.”

Rashid is seeking 11 thousand euros in compensation for material damages, and 15 thousand euros for immaterial damages. She also demanded 10 thousand euros on behalf of her daughter. The girl’s grandmother, who was harshly treated and beaten during the abduction, asked for 1 thousand euros.

Last year, the court convicted six other people for abducting Insiya for Hemani, for payment. They were sentenced to up to four years in prison. Five of them appealed.

  6. Somalia: 16 al-Shabaab terrorists killed, 40 kids freed
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/africa/somalia-16-al-shabaab-terrorists-killed-40-kids-freed/1986494

“At least 16 al-Shabaab terrorists were killed and 40 captive children rescued in a military operation in southwestern Somalia, officials said on Saturday.

The operation against the al-Qaeda affiliated group was carried out near the recently liberated agricultural town of Bariire, located 62 kilometers (38 miles) from the capital Mogadishu, in the Lower Shabelle region.

“During the operation in Nuuney village outside Bariire town, the military managed to rescue at least 40 children hailing from different parts of the country,” Ahmed Hassan Salad, a military commander, told the media.

The insurgents had kidnapped the children and planned to use them as suicide bombers, according to Somali military radio.

Security officials in the Lower Shabelle region told Anadolu Agency that operations against al-Shabaab will continue without letup to curb the group’s ability to disrupt next year’s presidential and parliamentary elections.”

  7. Turkish foreign minister threatens US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi
Mevlut Cavusoglu took offence at comments that Turkey, the second biggest jailer of journalists in the world, is not democratic
    https://www.thenational.ae/world/the-americas/turkish-foreign-minister-threatens-us-house-speaker-nancy-pelosi-1.1083476
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu discarded his diplomatic tools on Friday and ripped into US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, calling her ignorant and threatening that she “will learn to respect the Turkish people’s will.”
Mr Cavusoglu’s tirade used uncharacteristic language for a foreign minister attacking a woman who is third in line for the US presidency.
    [..]
Steven Cook, an analyst and observer of Turkish politics at the Council on Foreign Relations, said the attack on Ms Pelosi “drops all semblance of diplomacy in favour of personal insults and threats.”
This is not the first time that the Turkish political elite has attacked senior US Democrats. In August, Turkey attacked Democratic nominee Joe Biden for calling Mr Erdogan an “autocrat” and urging support for the Turkish opposition.
Mr Trump is known to have a direct line to Mr Erdogan whom he called in the past a “great ally”, “a very good friend” and said he is a “big fan” of him.
But the bilateral US-Turkey relationship has suffered in the last year as Ankara purchased and received the Russian S-400 defence missile system in July of 2019. The move triggered penalties from the US removing Turkey from the F-35 consortium and canceling Anakra’s purchases.
Turkey’s debt to US pharmaceutical companies has dramatically increased from $230 million to $2.3 billion in the last year, US ambassador to Ankara David Satterfield said this week.
Turkey, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists, is the second biggest jailer of journalists in the world with 47 arrested in 2019.

  8. Germany stops Iran buying mini-engines after they were found in Houthi drones
Underground technology trade through Xiamen and Mombasa smuggling routes
    https://www.thenational.ae/world/germany-stops-iran-buying-mini-engines-after-they-were-found-in-houthi-drones-1.1083080
German officials imposed a ban on the sale of model aircraft engines to Iran after a shipment ended up in drones used by the Houthis in Yemen to attack Saudi Arabia.

The move prompted a shift in Iranian procurement to advanced engine technology that is smuggled in drones bought from Chinese makers and shipped from Xiamen to Mombasa,

From there the units are smuggled to Salalah in Oman and on to Houthi strongholds, intelligence reports say.

It emerged that a small maker of engines for miniature versions of well-known aircraft was approached by Germany’s domestic intelligence service, which had been monitoring sales of units later found on the battlefield.

The shipment of 42 twin-cylinder propeller motors in 2015 was routed through Athens to Tehran.

Intelligence officials working for Germany’s Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV) stepped in weeks later to prevent further sales to Iran.
“There was no indication that the engines would be delivered to Iran,” said Karsten Schudt, managing director of manufacturer 3W-International.

At the instigation of the BfV, the order was prevented.

Iran has used German and Dutch precision-engineered small engines for more than a decade to boost its own drone production.

These include powerful machines of more than 80 brake horsepower, made by Limbach Flugmotoren, a German manufacturer.

Experts believe that for at least five years the Iranians have built up drone-making capability to arm its Houthi allies.

In mid-2018, the Houthis began using more advanced drones from Iran’s Sammad series, which is believed to have three variants with an operational range well beyond 1,000 kilometres.

These drones have powerful engines and can carry larger warheads.

A dossier circulating in Europe, compiled by an undercover agent, suggests Houthi-Iran drone production is financed by Qatar.

At the centre of the web is a front company in Cyprus that uses funds from gold trading to make payments to European suppliers.

The dossier also shows links between the front company and leading Qatari financial institutions.

    • He belongs to the Barelvi sect :

A central doctrine of the Barelvi movement is that Muhammad is both human and light.

According to the doctrine, Muhammad’s physical birth was preceded by his existence as light which pre-dates creation.

According to this doctrine the primordial reality of Muhammad existed before creation and that Allah created creation for the sake of Muhammad.

Proponents of this doctrine believe that the word Nur (light) in the Quran 5:15 refer to Muhammad.

Another central doctrine of the Barelvi movement is that Muhammad can witness and be present in multiple places as the same time
