Reader’s Links for September 21, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

“Interior Ministry spokesman Tariq Arian tweeted today (International Peace Day), that over the past two weeks, 98 civilians have been killed and 330 others wounded in various Taliban attacks.

He added, the Taliban had carried out offensive attacks in different provinces over the past weeks, killing 98 civilians, including women and children, and wounding 330 others.

According to Tariq, the Taliban carried attacks in 24 provinces, mostly in Takhar and Nangarhar provinces.

    https://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/wanted-terrorists-among-neutralized-in-turkey-158447

“Three terrorists neutralized last month in southern Turkey were on the country’s wanted list, the Interior Ministry said on Sept. 21.

Cihan Erba?, codenamed Hüseyin, Serhat Aykul, codenamed Ci?er-Amed, and ?efik Korman, codenamed Ali Norsin were in the grey category of the Interior Ministry’s wanted terrorists list and sought with a bounty up to 500,000 Turkish
    liras ($65,824) on their heads.

The wanted list is divided into five color-coded categories, with red as the most wanted, followed by blue, green, orange and gray.

The terrorists were neutralized in Hatay on Aug. 22 as part of the Operation Y?ld?r?m-5 around Mt. Amanos, the ministry said.

Turkish authorities often use the term “neutralized” to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU- has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants. The YPG is the PKK’s Syrian offshoot.”

“After months of relative calm, tension is rising again in northwestern Syria along the line of the front between government forces, backed by Russia, and armed militants supported by Turkey, sources on the ground said, confirming reports by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

The area experienced a diminution in violence after a military truce was reached by Russia and Turkey last March.

The sources added that over the past 48 hours several air raids and artillery fire, attributed to Russian and Syrian forces, were reported in the central areas of the Idlib region and in the southeastern area of the region of Aleppo.

The areas are under the control of anti-regime militants backed by the Turkish armed forces. More Syrian government air raids were registered in the northeastern region of Latakia at the border with Turkey.”

“The European Union has imposed sanctions on three firms for breaking a UN arms embargo on Libya. Two individuals were also sanctioned for involvement with supplying military equipment material to the country.

EU foreign ministers on Monday agreed to sanctions against entities that violated the UN embargo on arms flowing into Libya.

The measures target three companies — from Jordan, Kazakhstan, and Turkey — as well as two individuals for providing planes, ships and other logistics to funnel combat equipment into Libya…”

  5. Two illegal migrants arrested for stabbing 20-year-old to death in Lyon, but French media keeps quiet on their foreign background
    https://rmx.news/article/article/two-illegal-migrants-arrested-for-stabbing-20-year-old-in-lyon-to-death-but-french-media-keeps-quiet-on-their-foreign-background

“Two illegal migrants were arrested on suspicion of stabbing a man in his twenties to death in the Stade de Gerland metro station, French Le Progrès online daily reported, but larger television news outlets have kept quiet on their foreign backgrounds.

The tragedy occurred on Sunday, 15 minutes after midnight at the Stade de Gerland metro station in the 7th arrondissement of Lyon.

The young man in his twenties was assaulted by two individuals who stabbed him in the chest and hit him with broken bottles. Despite two witnesses of the incident trying to resuscitate him on the spot, the victim died.

Police officers then arrested the two drunk suspected assailants near the crime scene. They are both foreigners, one is 30 years old, and the other one is in his twenties. They were in possession of a bloodstained knife with a partially broken blade. A part of the blade was found in the victim’s body.

Following television news reports of the deaths, one user on Twitter wrote, “In Lyon, a 20-year-old young man was stabbed to death in the metro. The police arrested the 2 attackers but “curiously” some information is not provided. Should we avoid telling the French that this young man was killed by illegal immigrants?”….”

  6. WHO In Touch With CDC About Airborne Virus Transmission Removed from Website

The Director-General of the World Health Organisation, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said Monday that the group aims to have two billion doses of vaccine available by the end of 2021.

Speaking at a news conference in Geneva, Tedros said collaboration in producing and distributing a vaccine was “in every country’s best interest.”

“We sink or swim together,” he said, adding that the fastest route to ending the pandemic is “to ensure some people are vaccinated in all countries, not all people in some countries.”

The Director-General’s comments come as many countries, especially those in Europe, are experiencing a second spike in new infections following the ending of many national lockdowns.

The WHO said countries representing 60% of the world’s population have signed up to its “COVAX” scheme to buy coronavirus vaccines, but also said they need billions of dollars to pay for them.

Many countries, including China, the US, Russia, France and Germany, have signed their own agreements with vaccine makers and have opted out of using the facility.

WHO chief scientist Soumya Swaminathan said though a vaccine with 50% efficacy would be enough to “classify as an effective vaccine”, 70% and above was more ideal.

  7. Ocasio-Cortez: ‘We Must Consider’ Impeaching Trump, Barr To Stop SCOTUS Nomination

Far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) said during a press conference on Sunday that Democrats must be open to all options in their attempts to stop President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) from filling the Supreme Court seat that was vacated last week.

“Congresswoman, you mentioned being open to all ideas to buy time,” a reporter said to Ocasio-Cortez. “Would you be in support of potentially reviewing talks of impeachment hearings either against the attorney general or the president?”

  8. AOC, Dems Threaten Dictatorship
Sen. Hawley: “Democrats are saying they’ll burn down the Constitution.”

So it has come to this.

    Of course it has.

Mere hours after the announcement of Justice Ginsburg’s death, Democrats are threatening the country with a dictatorship.

They would give statehood to the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, packing the Senate with four Democratic senators. And they would pack the Supreme Court with additional seats, filling all of them with leftists. Combined with a Democrat in the White House, the radical Left would have an iron-fisted control over the U.S. government — in addition to the control they already have in the liberal “mainstream” media.
