Reader’s Links for August 31, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

“The wounded civilians were taken to local hospitals for treatment. The security personnel cordoned off the area of the incident to apprehend the attackers.

Six civilians were injured near Azad Gunj Bridge in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday after militants targeted an army convoy with a grenade.

Local media cited police as saying that the explosive device missed its target and exploded on the roadside in the Azadjung area of the town of Baramulla, causing the civilian injuries.

The security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to detain the attackers…”

  2. British Parliament Staff Confess Racial Sins, Pledge Allyship, BLM Support (breitbart, Aug 31, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2020/08/31/british-parliament-staff-confess-racial-sins-pledge-allyship-blm-support/

“Senior staff at the British Parliament have confessed their white privilege and pledged to be “allies” to minorities as the legislature pilots “unconscious bias training” for elected MPs.

“Mandatory unconscious bias training [for parliamentary staff] has been in place in parliament for years now and it has not made any difference to the racism experienced by black staff,” one former black staffer alleged in comments to The Times, which perhaps explains the move to expand such “training” to cover MPs as well.

The Times, arguably Britain’s most authoritative so-called newspaper of record, claimed in the headline of their story that “MPs will be made to take [the] anti-racist training” — although the text of the report does not make it clear that it will in fact be compulsory.

Forcing elected MPs to undergo “unconscious bias training” — a not uncontroversial academic concept which, like “white privilege”, many conservative and classical liberal thinkers believe to be baseless and ideologically motivated, would raise critical constitutional issues, given their right to “work” is contingent solely on their democratic mandate and willingness to swear the parliamentary oath of allegiance.

Parliament’s senior staffers, for their part, appear to be submitting to accusations of systemic and/or institutional racism with zero resistance, confessing their guilt and privilege and vowing to be better “allies” to minorities.

Deputy Head of Security Emily Baldock, for example, denounced herself in a message distributed over the internal network for staffers, confessing: “I am guilty of thinking it’s enough that I don’t make racist comments or actively discriminate. I am guilty of expecting that black colleagues will explain everything, rather than seeking out the answers myself… I am sorry.”

Clerk of the House of Commons John Benger, too, solemnly intoned that he “recognise[d] the power, privilege and responsibility that comes with my position. I pledge to use this to tackle racism, remove barriers and work for a more diverse and representative House of Commons. I will also continue to listen, self-reflect and be an ally for black and ethnic minority colleagues.”

Clerk Assistant Sarah Davies went even further, pledging to find a “reverse mentor” — i.e. a junior of member of staff from a minority background to lecture her to learn about racism — and try to elevate more non-white staffers to leadership positions.

“As a white woman and an ally I pledge to do more to amplify the voices of my BAME colleagues,” she declared.

“I will talk more about race. I will bring the learning from conversations with my teenage children and their BAME friends — how they are thinking together about and discussing Black Lives Matter — into the workplace,” she added.

‘BAME’, sometimes ‘BME’, stands for ‘Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic’ or ‘Black and Minority Ethnic’, and is the catch-all term for people who are not white in British parlance — roughly equivalent to the American ‘POC’.”

  3. Italian Evangelicals Call for Open Channels of African Migration into Europe (breitbart, Aug 31, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/immigration/2020/08/31/italian-evangelicals-call-for-open-channels-of-african-migration-into-europe/

“A prominent Protestant leader in Italy has called for streamlined channels of immigration from Africa into Europe after some 370 migrants arrived on the island of Lampedusa Saturday night.

Paolo Naso, coordinator of Mediterranean Hope, the migrant and refugee program of the Federation of Evangelical Churches in Italy, said Sunday that the current situation on Lampedusa is “undeniably unsustainable” both for migrants and residents, while calling for the immediate activation of “even temporary networks for the immediate reception of the most vulnerable subjects.”

“For our part, we are engaged in assisting the landings to help associations and institutions to manage the first moments of the arrivals of these people,” Mr. Naso said. “As Protestant churches we are ready to collaborate with institutions and other associations to seek solutions related to this emergency.”

“We are facing an emergency that was, however, entirely predictable, given the conditions in Tunisia and Libya,” he added.

Opposing efforts by Matteo Salvini’s Lega party to control immigration by securing ports and borders, Naso insisted that the only real solution is to open regular channels of legal immigration.

“We reiterate that the only strategy to combat ‘irregular’ migration is to open legal, safe channels, managed at the European level,” he said.

“In the meantime, our utmost solidarity with those who continue to save lives in the Mediterranean,” Naso said. “While others shout hateful words, which risk inciting violence, we choose acceptance.”

Naso also expressed his condolences for a young migrant who died during the crossing, whose body was brought to Lampedusa Saturday.

Lampedusa’s migrant welcome center is currently filled to overflowing, with 1,219 migrants in residence.

Local mayor Totò Martello has called for a general strike to draw the attention of the national government to the management of the situation and on Sunday local entrepreneurs and traders staged a protest.

Banners of demonstrators included messages such as “Stop Immigrants,” “Close Lampedusa Welcome Center,” and “Criminal Government.”

Matteo Salvini, leader of the populist Lega party, has blamed the leftist coalition government of Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte for the recent surge in illegal migrants.

Last month, Mr. Salvini noted that “landings have tripled since last year, with illegal immigrants being recovered even near Maltese waters, while Lampedusa is collapsing and hundreds of immigrants flee the reception centers who risk spreading Covid-19.””

    • Given recent history I expect China to make some type of aggressive move in a different area while the worlds attention is at the LAC. I don’t know where or what type of move they are planning but this is very close to what China did just before the Hong Kong crackdown.

    • In one of the videos the Indians are showing off their winter war capabilities, it is getting to be winter in the mountains and that is a nasty time for mountain fighting. This makes it even more likely this action is another diversion to keep people from looking at a different region.

What is China up to and where are the getting ready to move?

Is this just action to take the Chinese People’s attention off their internal problems?

  6. Google Insider: Bombshell Book ‘Deleted’ Will ‘Shake the Foundations of Silicon Valley’ (breitbart, Aug 31, 2020)
    https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2020/08/31/deleted-big-techs-battle-erase-trump-movement-steal-election/

“An upcoming book from Breitbart News investigative reporter Allum Bokhari is set to “shake the foundations of Silicon Valley,” according to a Big Tech source who has worked at numerous tech giants including Google.

The book, #DELETED: Big Tech’s Battle to Erase the Trump Movement and Steal the Election, will be published by Center Street on September 22, and is currently available for preorder at Barnes & Noble and other retailers.

“When voters find out what big tech companies have done to meddle in the coming election, they’ll be rightly furious” said the source, who worked on key Google products for several years.

“The level of covert manipulation is breathtaking. Every American who’s worried about the future of free and fair elections should read this book.”

The book’s author, Allum Bokhari, has worked as a tech reporter at Breitbart News since 2015. He has helped whistleblowers within Google, Facebook, and YouTube release damning leaks exposing Big Tech’s political bias.

In 2018, he obtained “The Google Tape,” a one-hour recording of Google’s top executives reacting to the election of Donald Trump in 2016. The most powerful people at the company, including co-founder Sergey Brin, CEO Sundar Pichai, and chief legal officer Kent Walker expressed dismay over Trump’s election, with Walker pledging to make the populist movement a “blip” in history.

Just over a month later, Bokhari obtained “The Good Censor,” an 85-page document from within Google admitting to Silicon Valley’s “shift towards censorship.” Sen. Ted Cruz later grilled representatives of Google about the leak during a congressional hearing.

Bokhari also revealed the existence of YouTube’s “controversial query blacklist,” a secret file used by the company to manipulate political search results. The leak revealed that YouTube adjusted search results on terms like “abortion” and “federal reserve” in response to complaints from left-wing journalists.

He also obtained Facebook’s “hate agents review” list — a hit list of high-profile political figures that the platform considers potential “hate agents.” Facebook keeps regular tabs on these people, including monitoring their offline activities. The list included Candace Owens, Brigitte Gabrielle, and other prominent conservatives.

#DELETED, the product of Bokhari’s five years of investigating Silicon Valley, reportedly reveals even more of Big Tech’s secrets.

Sources and whistleblowers who work or have worked for Google, Facebook, Twitter, and other tech giants were extensively interviewed for the book. They reveal Big Tech’s secretive, AI-controlled methods to control and manipulate information, methods that unlike overt bans and censorship, cannot be readily observed by outsiders.

They also explain how virtually every Big Tech company was pulled to the radical left after the 2016 election, with radical elements within Google, Facebook, and Twitter now obsessively pursuing an overriding goal: stopping Trump’s reelection.

#DELETED will be released on September 22. Click HERE to preorder.”

Muhammad married Aisha when she was 6 and consummated the marriage when she was 9 years old. Islamists, including Imams in Canada, the US and other countries insist it is OK for men to marry young girls. It is also OK to have a muta marriage, temporary marriage, with a child. Marry a 9 year old have sex, and divorce them the next day. Imams preform muta marriages for a fee.

  11. The following comment was written by Johnny U. For reasons I do not yet understand, it failed to post the first time and the second time, rejected it because it had already been posted. So I am posting it for him:

    By Johnny U:

A complete taker-over of the internet with the help of techno-fascists like Gates and Zuckerberg may happen, or it may not. They still don’t control the whole thing which, collectively, must amount to enough opposing voices that are still giving them a good run for their money.

Man, if only I could crawl inside the head of a globalist bad guy. Just for a minute to see what’s going on. It would be like entering someone’s apartment. Creepy but enlightening.

I’m in Zuckerberg’s hut now. Wow, what a view. This must be the tallest building on the planet, the highest condo in the world. The clouds are below! There goes a helicopter. I turn and see it is a huge, round place–the whole top floor of the building and all windows ceiling to floor. All light. Like something out of the Jetsons. I can look down on every thing, everyone. Maybe there is no building beneath. Look in any direction and you see the curvature of the planet. The furniture is modern. There are no plants. What’s this? A life-sized cardboard effigy of his wife? Interesting. Over there another. And another behind the bookcase. They’re everywhere. Did she win the “blind” audition to his matrimony? I see there is still plastic wrap on that sofa and chair. Hmm, an extinguished cigarette in the ash tray on the coffee table. No one else lives here but Zuckerberg, so how can that…. What’s that? Ask him what? I can’t. Remember, I’m incognito here. And only for a minute and we’re at forty seconds. Interesting. There is no elevator and no stairwell. No way down. I don’t like this. Suddenly it’s hard to breath. I need my feet on the ground. I’m getting out.

Ooh, Gates’ place is something else. Much better–not a mile in the sky. It’s some kind of a dome. I see greenery inside and out. The air smells ionized as if after a summer rain. The landscaping in the yard is lovely with rocks and a waterfall. Like Zuckerberg’s place it is commercial-sized large. What’s this. This is the biggest remote control I’ve ever seen. Talk about whiz-bang technology. Heavy, too. Uh, must have pressed a button. Screen on the wall just came to life. Oh, that’s not a t.v. that’s a window. Wow. I just made it rain. What else can this thing do? Look at those beautiful birds. Wow. A toucan. What’s this button do? I feel like I can do anything with this control. Amazing. What is that? The future only now. Completely under control. Real time. I see four-billion people. I see them here. Now I see them gone. The remote control is getting warm. It’s getting hot. I have to drop it. It’s too much. This is a monster’s invention.

Soros’s place is beautiful. Timelessly tasteful with its Austro-Hungarian appointments, but it smells musty. I see a massive chandelier. It’s like a castle in here. But why am I here? Soros is not a tech giant.

    “Hello, Johnny U.”

Oh my god it’s George Soros. “Mr. Soros you scared the hell out of me. I don’t know why I’m here, and most of all I don’t know why you’re here! I’m simply conducting a silly, fictitious exercise. Am I hallucinating? How do you know my name?”

“I know many things, Johnny. I am a god. I know you, as well.”

“You’re freakin’ me out, Mr. Soros.”

“Please. To you I am only George. I know as a Hungarian you will be unfailingly polite. But we know this is not indicative of the presence of even a single milligram of subservience.”

    “Are you a Nazi?”

“Only the cream rises to the top, Johnny U. Csak a krém emelkedik fel a tetejére.”

Where am I now. It’s pitch black. I can’t see at all. The walls feel so close. What’s this thing touching my head? Feels like a string. Ah, that’s better. It’s for the light. Still a bit dim, though. Just a 20-watt bulb.

I’m standing in a cramped broom closet. Justin Trudeau’s place. Very small. There are cleaning products and a mop. Some toilet paper. I’ve already seen enough. Get me out of here. What? The door is locked from the outside. I’m locked in a closet and I can’t get out! I hear voices on the other side. Whispering and giggling. But in a language I can’t understand. Mandarin? What the heck…

A tiny, shithole closet. Locked in. My fiction, Dear Leader’s reality.

  13. Is it possible there are Americans who didn’t know riots were happening on the streets of our cities?
By Ben Bowles August 31, 2020

The Left is suddenly seeing the handwriting on the wall. An article in the Guardian titled “With Donald Trump and this election, it feels ominously like 2016 all over again,” glumly acknowledges that “Biden’s lead may be sliding in critical states, and some estimates show him underperforming [Hillary] Clinton in the critical state of Wisconsin. … FiveThirtyEight reports, troublingly, that ‘there are also nine states where Biden’s margin over Trump is smaller than Clinton’s was at this point in the campaign.’”

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2020/08/31/is-it-possible-there-are-americans-who-didnt-know-riots-were-happening-on-the-streets-of-our-cities/

    • Probably just a change of tactics. Last time the hubris of Clinton as a sure fire winner probably hurt them. Now they are making Trump the underdog again and Americans love an underdog. So maybe now they are trying to make Joe the surprise winner.

      Its what I would do.

  14. Forget ‘polling’: Democratic reactions to the riots are about calling it a TWO-sided war of ‘extremism’
    By J.E. Dyer August 30, 2020

Things are beginning to heat up on the streets of America’s cities. And barring a pace-slackening we have no reason to hope for in 2020, this trend is likely to worsen quickly.

Only a few days ago, 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, apparently trying to defend himself while acting – seemingly without supervision – in an armed-civilian protection role during the riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, shot and killed two of the rioters. (I’ll defer criticism of allowing a minor to act in this capacity to another time. I think very poor judgment was exercised by multiple people here, but Kyle Rittenhouse is not a hardened scoundrel or “violent extremist.”)

    https://libertyunyielding.com/2020/08/30/forget-polling-democratic-reactions-to-the-riots-are-about-calling-it-a-two-sided-war-of-extremism/

    • JE does a very good job of explaining what is happening and why the Dems are suddenly denouncing the riots as clashes by extremists on both sides of the political aisle. She warns that the Shooting by Kyle was what the left has been waiting for to have an excuse to up the violence. Note the way the Patriot Prayer member was murdered by someone who wasn’t wearing the antifa uniform, he shooter (reports say there may have been more then one) was probably an antifa member who wasn’t wearing their uniform to make it easier to escape and to give the Propaganda Media cover to confuse the issue.

Remember the next phase of the classic urban guerilla war is random and targeted assignations of people who are opposing the communist takeover.

Mayor Ted Wheeler recently told Oregon Public Radio that his only strategy for dealing with the violence in Portland is to let it “burn itself out.”

The admission came after he falsely claimed that Federal law enforcement’s presence was “leading to more violence” only to see the leftist violence continue to grow after the pullout deal.

On August 28, Mayor Wheeler tweeted a letter that he wrote to President Trump turning down his offer of federal law enforcement aid while insisting that, “There is no place for looting, arson, or vandalism in our city.”

That was and is an obvious lie.

Several days earlier, Wheeler had let slip his now infamous “burn itself out” line while suggesting that the so-called ‘non-violent’ protests “won’t end for quite some time.”

After a pro-Trump activist was shot by one of the leftist rioters whom Mayor Wheeler had enabled, the Democrat boss began his comments on the shooting by denouncing President Trump and his supporters who had traveled in a caravan flying Trump 2020 flags.

  15. Germany: Right to demonstrate ‘abused’ during weekend protests against COVID measures – govt. spox

German government spokesperson Steffen Seibert condemned Berlin’s right-wing demonstrations against COVID measures over the weekend, and said that, the right to demonstrate had been “abused” at the weekly press conference on Monday in Berlin.

“The result were shameful images in the Reichstag, which are intolerable, anti-democratic people trying to spread in the stairs of our democratic parliament. These behaviours like in the stairs of the Reichstag, many of the slogans, flags and banners that could be seen there during the weekend, the delusions that some wanted to spread there that debunks itself.,” Seibert said.

Images and footage of the protest, which attracted tens of thousands of protesters, made headlines over the weekend before being broken up by police.

According to the police report, “a total of 316 people were arrested” as protesters attempted to storm the Parliament on Saturday. The attempt was blocked by three police officers, whom Seibert especially thanked especially during his speech.

Seibert encouraged a debate about coronavirus measures, but said it should be carried out in a healthy way.

“Naturally there should be debates and quarrels about measures, especially during an unprecedented challenge as the pandemic in which we are learning constantly and therefore there is the democratic debate in the Parliament, in the federal and state governments, for that there is the free press, a critic public sphere and for that there are also demonstrations in which the participants comply to the rights and requirements,” he said.

Spokesperson for the German Interior Ministry Steve Alter said Germany has enhanced their review of the ‘disinformation’ topic, and there will be an internal, in-house review on the issue. He warned about “overestimating” the theme.

    *SOUNDBITES*

SOT, Steffen Seibert, German government spokesperson (German): “During the weekend we have experience an example of how in a protest the right of demonstration, the freedom of demonstration was abused by some. This right to peaceful demonstration is naturally a valuable asset also in times of a pandemic, you have heard me and the different colleagues here again and again only talking it high up. Now we had during the weekend a clear abuse of this right. The result were shameful images in the Reichstag, which are intolerable, anti-democratic people trying to spread in the stairs of our democratic parliament. These behaviours like in the stairs of the Reichstag, many of the slogans, flags and banners that could be seen there during the weekend, the delusions that some wanted to spread there that debunks itself. Naturally there should be debates and quarrels about measures, especially during an unprecedented challenge as the pandemic in which we are learning constantly and therefore there is the democratic debate in the Parliament, in the federal and state governments, for that there is the free press, a critic public sphere and for that there are also demonstrations in which the participants comply to the rights and requirements.”

SOT, Steffen Seibert, German government spokesperson (German): “I would like to thank in the name of the federal government and of the federal Chancellor firstly and especially the three police officers who have protected the entrance to our parliament alone in the first place, they were alert and brave.”

SOT, Steffen Seibert, German government spokesperson (German): “I would like to thank the predominant majority of the 83 million people in this country, all of them who behaviour in a prudent, cautious and considerate manner and who comply to the rules even if it’s not that easy sometimes. The scenes of this demonstration in the weekend should not distract us that the vast majority of the people in Germany think differently and act differently from the demonstrators in Berlin and that’s why Germany has come so well through the pandemic until now.”

SOT, Steve Alter, Spokesperson for German Interior Ministry (German): “At the moment we have a very cautious perspective, because we see what we have seen in the last weeks and months, that the protesters against the measures in connection with the pandemic are influenced by a complete varied mixture of different interests, there are all sorts of topics and theories and as a result there are all kinds of optic symbols to be found. We have enhanced our review of the ‘disinformation’ topic, in the past months. There is also an internal analysis going on and we come to the conclusion that the topic is present, but we shouldn’t overestimate it at the moment.”

      • All money-laundering.
There’s NO vaccine, there won’t be one that’s “safe and effective” for YEARS, if ever.

Those pouring money into BigPharma are pocketing that money. Govt money circulating to profiteers. And everybody’s doing it.

  17. Canadian Islamic Scholar: Beirut Blast Is Divine Retribution for Lebanon Spreading “Vice and Evil”

In an August 7, 2020 Friday sermon at the Abu Huraira Islamic Center in Toronto, Canada, Canadian Islamic scholar Kamil Ahmad said that the recent explosion at the Beirut port, which took the lives of more than 150 people and left thousands injured, was divine retribution for the “vice and evil” that Lebanon spreads to other Arab countries via “movies and films and all kinds of other evils.”

He said that the blast has come as a wake-up call to the Islamic nation for its betrayal of its fellow Muslims, and he gave the example of the events in Syria.

Ahmad elaborated that the Lebanese people are getting a taste of what their Syrian neighbors have been suffering for years.

He ended his sermon by asking Allah to destroy His enemies.

The sermon was posted to the Abu Huraira Center’s YouTube channel.

  18. Should the U.S. Still Try to Accommodate China?

George Shultz, writing a Wall Street Journal op-ed first posted August 26, believes America has a “collective future” with China.

Yes, Americans have one with the Chinese people — as they do with all other people — but is it possible to have a common future with a hostile state openly committed to overthrowing you and, among other things, committing crimes against humanity?

    No, that is not possible.

Shultz, who served with great distinction in the Nixon and Reagan administrations, is greatly concerned “there is a risk that our two countries stumble into confrontation due to missteps or mutual miscalculation.”

His remedy is one employed during the Cold War with the Soviets. “We should quietly develop specific off-ramps from conflict with China,” he writes. Specifically, the two countries should establish “rules of the road for military ships and aircraft with a communication mechanism to address any incidents.”

For decades, the U.S. had tried to regularize contacts with the Chinese military. In 2014, for instance, the U.S. Pacific Fleet promoted the adoption of the Code for Unplanned Encounters at Sea. CUES, as the agreement is known, was supplemented with a 2015 annex for air-to-air encounters. Both China and the United States, along with 19 other nations, signed on.

  19. Ratcliffe Defends Halting Election Briefings, Says Congress Is Leaking Classified Information

Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe said it’s necessary to scale back election security briefings in person to Congress because of leaks.

Over the weekend, reports said Ratcliffe and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) told the House and Senate intelligence committees that it will still provide written briefings on election security matters. Ratcliffe, in letters to the panels, said that leaks from members of Congress were a primary reason for the change.

Ratcliffe said on Fox News that he had been frequently briefing “not just the oversight committees but every member of Congress.”

But, he said, “within minutes of one of those briefings ending, a number of members of Congress went to a number of different outlets and leaked classified information for political purposes.”

He said that it was designed “to create a narrative that simply isn’t true, that somehow Russia is a greater national security threat than China.”

“I don’t mean to minimize Russia. They are a serious national security threat, but day in, day out, the threats that we face from China are significantly greater,” Ratcliffe said. “Anyone who says otherwise is just politicizing intelligence for their own narrative.”

On Aug. 28, Ratcliffe said to lawmakers that his office “will primarily meet its obligation to keep Congress fully and currently informed leading into the Presidential election through written finished intelligence products,” adding that he will protect his sources.
