Reader’s Links for August 1, 2020

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. UK: Protesters call for deportation of Rochdale grooming gang members in London

Dozens of right-wing speakers and demonstrators demanded the deportation of members of a gang who ran a child sexual exploitation ring in Rochdale, at a protest in London’s Parliament Square on Saturday.

The protesters, who rallied near the square’s statue of Winston Churchill, were aiming to raise awareness of child grooming gangs whilst demanding the government honour its promise to deport the men.

The men, sometimes dubbed the ‘Rochdale Three’ are Abdul Rauf, Abdul Aziz and Adil Khan. The three dual British-Pakistani nationals were all convicted of multiple offences relating to the sexual abuse of young girls in Rochdale. All three men were sentenced to various jail terms and stripped of their British nationality in 2015 by former UK Prime Minister Theresa May, who was home secretary at the time.

Demonstrators stressed the fact that since serving their sentences, and losing court challenges to keep their British citizenship, the three are still living in the UK.

The gang’s ringleader, Shabir Ahmed, has also been stripped of his British citizenship, in advance of deportation proceedings, and continues to serve a 22 year jail sentence.

One speaker at the protest also touched on the recent discussion over the removal of Churchill’s statue, after other statues were removed during Black Lives Matter protests around the UK and worldwide.

“Winston Churchill is the greatest Englishman that ever lived. And the Marxists and the leftists and the antifa scum want to take his statue down and I say this and speak for me and I know I speak for all of you. Over my dead body. His statue is not coming down,” said Veterans Against Terrorism leader Richard Inman.

Demonstrators were heard chanting for far-right activist Tommy Robinson who appeared via livestream from his new home in Marbella, Spain.

Other far-right and right-wing groups such as the ‘For Britain Movement’ and the UK Independence party were represented with banners, flags and speakers throughout the event.

A smaller counter-protest took place next to the demonstration. “What they are saying is very racist, very racist and they are inciting racial hatred,” shouted a counter-protester.

  2. UK: Anti-mask activists descend on London streets

Anti-face mask activists descended on central London streets on Saturday to protest the government’s announcement of extending the mandatory use of face coverings in public transport and supermarkets as well as other public areas.

Protesters were seen marching towards Downing Street as they chanted and carried signs and banners.

One of the demonstrators, David, said, “I’m concerned about where the country is going in terms of mandatory face masks use. Now, this is my body, I used to be a nurse, a mental health nurse, and one of the things we learnt as mental health nurse students is that it is considered battery to forcibly put something on a person’s body without their consent.”

The United Kingdom is currently facing a rise in coronavirus infections, causing a delay in the lift of restrictions and implementation of new rules regarding face coverings. According to reports, a new law will enter into force on August 8th, making the use of face masks mandatory in places such as cinemas, places of worship, and galleries, to name a few.

  3. 5 migrants kill hedgehog in Germany after using the poor animal as a football

“Five young migrant men in the southwest German town of Rastatt kicked a hedgehog to death after using it as a football in the gardens of the local baroque palace, local news portal Karlsruhe Insider reports.

Anja Starck, the director in charge of the hedgehog rescue station Karlsruhe, said it was difficult to control her feelings about what happened to the defenseless creature.

“I’m pissed off,” she told German newspaper Badische Neuste Nachricthen.

The incident started last week when Victoria Qui was walking with her young son saw at 9:30 p.m. on Monday, when she five migrants using a hedgehog as a football as they kicked it through the meadow of the park.

In a post to Facebook, Qui wrote, “They kicked the hedgehog around like a soccer ball.”

Her young son began crying when he saw what happened to the animal. Furious with what was happening, Qui confronted the migrants who only laughed at her.

“They laughed at me…. My son cried for the hedgehog, but also out of fear…. I had my dogs lay down next to the hedgehog who was bleeding,” she wrote.

After she sent her son home to tell her husband what had happened, then youths began to encircle her in a threatening manner.

Despite fearing for her safety, Qui refused to leave the injured hedgehog by itself.

“I couldn’t go either. They would have continued to kick the hedgehog. They made half-circle around me and spoke in a language I didn’t understand. I expected the worse for myself,” she wrote.

Qui then screamed at them that she was going to call the police and the migrant youths then fled.

She wrapped the hedgehog up and immediately brought it to the hedgehog rescue station in Bischweier.

Starck, who took the hedgehog from the woman, said it was “bleeding from its mouth” when it arrived at her clinic. She gave the animal painkillers and anti-inflammatory medication to relieve its suffering.

The hedgehog managed to survive the first night but on the second night, its health deteriorated dramatically due to internal injuries it suffered. The next morning, Starck decided to put the animal to sleep.

“We tried to save him,” the director of the hedgehog clinic said.

Police open investigation into killing of hedgehog
Police have opened investigations after the post went viral on social media.

“There has been no official announcement so far, we are investigating on our own,” said a spokesman for the Offenburg police headquarters.

The parks department is entrusted to investigate the matter. So far, however, there suspects have not been arrested.

According to Starck, this was not the first case of this kind that she came across.

“It doesn’t happen often, but something like that happens every now and then,” she says.

This is not even the first case of a migrant using a hedgehog as a football, with a 49-year-old Turkish male kicking a hedgehog death in Augsburg in 2014, according to a report from the Augsburger Allgemeine.

She paid a lot of respect to the woman who passed by and tried to stop the youths.

“Hats off to the woman! Finally, someone shows civil courage,” she said.

Numerous Facebook users who have commented on the woman’s contribution come into the same horn. “Very brave!”, “Great of you” or “Thank you, thank you, thank you for your commitment” – these are the contributions.

Qui responded by writing, “It was not brave… Maybe it was even careless of me. Who knows what could have happened but whoever has a heart in the right place would have done the same. Acting like that is a matter of course for me, and I would do it again and again.”

Hedgehogs are not only beloved in Germany but also animals that are protected by the Federal Nature Conservation Act. The animals are considered a vital part of natural habitats and are already severely threatened in the Germany. In countries like the United Kingdom, hedgehogs levels were estimated at 30 million in the 1950s. That number has dropped to one million in the last years.”
