Daily Links Post graphic

Each day at just after midnight Eastern, a post like this one is created for contributors and readers of this site to upload news links and video links on the issues that concern this site. Most notably, Islam and its effects on Classical Civilization, and various forms of leftism from Soviet era communism, to postmodernism and all the flavours of galloping statism and totalitarianism such as Nazism and Fascism which are increasingly snuffing out the classical liberalism which created our near, miraculous civilization the West has been building since the time of Socrates.

This document was written around the time this site was created, for those who wish to understand what this site is about. And while our understanding of the world and events has grown since then, the basic ideas remain sound and true to the purpose.

So please post all links, thoughts and ideas that you feel will benefit the readers of this site to the comments under this post each day. And thank you all for your contributions.

This is the new Samizdat. We must use it while we can.

  1. YouTube bans Gavin McInnes after 15 years on the platform

McInnes has been scrubbed from all the Big Tech platforms in recent years.

After amassing more than 30 million views on the platform, political commentator Gavin McInnes has been permanently banned from YouTube.

McInnes’ channel had over 376,000 YouTube subscribers and had been uploading to the platform for more than 15 years.

Before being banned, Mcinnes had been uploading clips from Get Off My Lawn, a political talk show where he covers the days’ events, to his YouTube channel.

YouTube wrote that McInnes was banned for “glorifying or inciting violence against another person or group of people” and “creating content that encourages hatred of another person or group of people.”

However, Censored.TV, a subscription platform where McInnes and other personalities host their own shows, responded to YouTube’s claims by stating: “This is only true to those living in clown world.”

Censored.TV claims that the banning of McInnes is part of a multi-year effort from Big Tech to deplatform him because he founded the Proud Boys, a group that describes itself as a pro-Western fraternal organization, and because of his defamation lawsuit against the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

Censored.TV also cited a recent McInnes video criticizing the SPLC in its post about his ban.

Days before McInnes was banned by YouTube, several creators, including meme artist Carpe Donktum, reported that their content featuring McInnes was taken down from other Big Tech platforms.

For several years, Facebook has also aggressively scrubbed content that is posted by other users and features McInnes from its platform.

In a recent motion for summary judgment in a lawsuit, Facebook even cited appearing with McInnes as a contributing factor for banning congressional candidate Laura Loomer and labeling her “dangerous.”

YouTube was the last Big Tech platform where McInnes still had a presence and he has previously been banned from Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

  3. US Soldier Plotted to Have Unit Attacked by Jihadists: Justice
    https://www.thedefensepost.com/2020/06/23/us-soldier-plotted-attack/

“A US soldier with links to neo-Nazis plotted to have Islamic extremists attack his unit in Turkey in hopes of sparking a new “10-year war” in the Middle East, the Justice Department charged Monday.

An indictment unsealed in New York said Ethan Phelan Melzer, 22, was serving in the US Army in Vincenza, Italy, and expecting to go to Turkey when he offered an FBI informant he believed had ties to jihadist groups detailed information on his unit’s movements last month.

In online chatrooms for the neo-Nazi and satanist Order of the Nine Angles, or O9A, he detailed their planned location and armaments in Turkey, suggesting attackers could easily overcome the force, according to the indictment.

Melzer made clear he was supporting a “jihadist” attack on the unit, and that he himself might die. “I would’ve died successfully… Cause if another 10-year war in the Middle East would definitely leave a mark,” he told the informant.

Melzer was charged with six counts of plotting to murder his fellow soldiers and material support to terror groups. The indictment said the Louisville, Kentucky native enlisted in the army in 2018 and had joined the violent O9A at least as early as 2019.

He shared information on his unit’s movements with fellow O9A followers and a related group called the “Rapewaffen Division” “for the purpose of facilitating an attack on the unit,” the Justice Department alleged.

After his arrest, “Melzer declared himself to be a traitor against the United States, and described his own conduct as tantamount to treason,” it said in a statement.

If found guilty he faces up to life in prison.”

  4. Arabs, Int’l Community Slam Houthi Terrorist Attack against Saudi Arabia
    https://english.aawsat.com/home/article/2350406/arabs-int%E2%80%99l-community-slam-houthi-terrorist-attack-against-saudi-arabia

“The Arab and international community slammed on Tuesday the Iran-backed Houthi militias’ targeting of Saudi civilian regions with ballistic missiles and booby-trapped drones.

The Saudi-led Arab coalition declared Tuesday that it had intercepted and downed three ballistic missiles and eight booby-trapped drones fired by the Houthis in Yemen against the Kingdom.

“I condemn these latest attacks on Saudi Arabia by the Houthis, and their continued offensives within Yemen which cast further doubt on their claims to want peace,” British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said in a statement.

“With over a million Yemenis believed to have contracted coronavirus, it is more vital than ever that the Houthis cease their hostilities and allow the UN-led humanitarian response to get on with saving Yemeni lives,” he added.

Organization of Islamic Cooperation Secretary General Yousef bin Ahmad Al-Othaimeen strongly condemned the Houthis, holding them “and those supplying them with weapons and funds fully responsible for these terrorist acts”.

He reiterated the organization’s support for the Arab coalition and expressed its complete solidarity with the Saudi Arabia, saying its backs all measures it takes to confront their threat.

Gulf Cooperation Council chief Dr. Nayef al-Hajraf slammed the latest Houthi escalation, saying such hostile acts are a flagrant violation of international laws that bar attacks against civilians.

These attacks not only are attempts to destabilize Saudi Arabia, but the whole region, he warned.

He hailed the competence and alertness of the Saudi aid force that intercepted and downed the drones and missiles before they reached their targets, adding that the GCC supports all measures the Kingdom takes to preserve its security and stability.

“The international community must assume its responsibilities and firmly stand against the Houthis and their repeated attempts to destabilize the region,” he said.

The United Arab Emirates slammed the Houthi attack, voicing its solidarity with the Saudi Arabia and saying stands side-by-side with it against all threats against its security and stability.

Its foreign ministry stressed that the security of the UAE and that of Saudi Arabia are indivisible, and any threat facing the Kingdom is considered a threat to the security and stability of the UAE.

Egypt strongly denounced the Houthis attack, with the foreign ministry expressing Cairo’s complete solidarity with Riyadh.”

“Several Nigerian domestic workers are sleeping rough on the streets of Beirut after being let go by Lebanese employers hard-hit by the country’s economic downturn.

The women had first sought refuge at the premises of a recruitment agency but last week the agent abandoned them near the Nigerian embassy in the Lebanese capital after leading them to believe they were about to return to Nigeria.

Increasing numbers of domestic workers have been spotted on the sidewalks of Beirut in recent weeks, kicked out by their employers with little pay as the country reels from an economic crunch compounded by the coronavirus pandemic…”

  6. Haftar forces: Turkey-backed Libya forces want to reach the pyramids
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20200623-haftar-forces-turkey-backed-libya-forces-want-to-reach-the-pyramids/

“Forces loyal to the internationally-backed Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) want to reach the pyramids in Egypt and take over that land, the spokesperson of renegade General Khalifa Haftar said yesterday.

Haftar, who is supported by the Egyptian army, had made major losses in his battle to capture the Libyan capital Tripoli and his forces have been forced to withdraw to the east of the country.

His spokesperson, Ahmed Al-Mismari, was reported saying that although the forces affiliated with the Turkish-backed GNA said they respect Egypt’s security, they have sent “daily messages to say ‘we will come to Sinai and the pyramids and sign our names on them’”.

He asked: “how do you respect Egypt’s security when you send these daily messages?”

Al-Mismari added: “The message has reached Egypt. (…) These extremist terrorist expiation groups, which are located in the cities of Misrata and Tripoli, wish to reach the pyramids, Sinai and Cairo.”

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said on Saturday that his army is capable of defending the country’s national security, inside and outside its borders.”

  7. Turkey reiterates its support for Libya’s Government of National Accord
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20200623-turkey-reiterates-its-support-for-libyas-government-of-national-accord/

“A spokesman for the Turkish presidency has stressed the need for a sustainable truce in Libya, Anadolu Agency has reported.

Ibrahim Kalin said yesterday that Turkey supports the position of the internationally-recognised Government of National Accord, which insists on the need for the forces of Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar to withdraw from Sirte and Al-Jafra for a ceasefire to succeed.

He pointed out that this is possible if the parties return to the political agreement signed in Morocco in 2015. “This is the position of the Libyan government and we support it.”

Kalin made his comments during an online seminar organised by Germany’s Konrad Adenauer Foundation. Turkey is striving to achieve peace and stability in Libya, he insisted, and will stay there as long as the GNA wants it to be there.

Criticising Haftar, the Turkish official added that, “He was unreliable from the outset, and he undermined all truce agreements and tension-reduction initiatives. Hence, the Libyan government will not support any negotiations in which Haftar is a part. Turkey supports that position too.”

He was also critical of France. “We support a legitimate government in Libya, while the French government supports an illegal warlord, and endangers the security of NATO, the Mediterranean, North Africa and political stability in Libya. While all these facts are clear to us, the French are still pointing fingers at us and criticising us.”

Turkey accuses the UAE of financing the war in Libya. According to Kalin, Abu Dhabi’s attack on the government in Ankara and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for Turkey’s role in the Arab and Islamic worlds, was “foolish”.

Kalin explained that Ankara is still optimistic that January’s Berlin conference on Libya will lead to something positive. “The ceasefire that resulted from that conference was violated many times by the warlord Haftar, and yet countries such as Russia, the UAE and France are still supporting him. Everyone knows that Turkey has brought relative stability to Libya and that we want to end the conflict.”

NATO, the Turkish official concluded, has to play a “unified role” in Libya. He noted that US policy on Libya is “volatile”, and nobody wants to see the Syrian scenario happening in the North African country.”

  8. Libyan government ‘proves’ Haftar’s financial corruption
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20200623-libyan-government-proves-haftars-financial-corruption/

“Libya’s Government of National Accord (GNA) revealed two documents on Monday which allegedly prove Khalifa Haftar’s involvement in financial corruption. An official GNA media centre posted a copy of the documents on Twitter.

The documents show that one of the economic arms of Haftar’s militia, “the Military Investment Authority, took over public land plots and properties [and confiscated] fixed and movable assets of agricultural projects and other investment sites illegally.”

The media centre also published additional information and reports, including details of an agreement signed by the “Military Investment Authority” and the National Federation of Italian Fishing Institutions (NFFO) in March 2019. The agreement provides for “securing Italian fishing boats and authorising fishermen to fish in Libyan territorial waters, in exchange for €10,000 [$11,100] per month for a period of five years.”

The leaked documents appear to confirm the veracity of a report published in Le Monde in July 2016 titled, “How Haftar controlled Cyrenaica’s economy in Libya”.

The GNA has evidence from a 2019 report by the Naoura Research Centre that reveals the mechanisms followed by Haftar’s militia to take over the economies of areas under its control, in order to gain access to new sources of income.

“Haftar gradually transformed his military capital into an economic one after the liberation of Benghazi in the summer of 2017,” said the centre at the time, “which was made possible by the support of regional sponsors, namely Egypt, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.”

The report stressed that Haftar used the Military Investment Authority to allocate local resources and obtain loans that burdened the country with huge debts. That is one of the reasons that pushed him to launch the offensive on Tripoli, the same source pointed out.”

  9. Libya exposes Haftar’s efforts to hire mercenaries
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20200623-libya-exposes-haftars-efforts-to-hire-mercenaries/

“The Libyan Army on Tuesday published a document implicating eastern warlord Khalifa Haftar in bringing into the country mercenaries from Syria, reports Anadolu Agency.

Images of contracts signed between Haftar and security firms showed that every mercenary was paid $200 monthly in addition to $10 for participating in any military operation.

The images, published by the media office of the government-led Operation Volcano of Rage, also revealed that mercenaries get $20 as a bonus.

The media office also released photos of Syrian mercenaries in the city of As-Suwayda ahead of their trip to Hmeimim airbase en route to the UAE-controlled al-Khadim airbase in eastern Libya…”

  10. America’s demand for talks is a lie, says Iran president
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20200623-americas-demand-for-talks-is-a-lie-says-iran-president/

“America’s demand for talks with Iran is a lie, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday, in comments broadcast live on state TV.

They say ‘we are ready to negotiate’. They’re saying something strange. What does ‘we’re ready to negotiate’ mean? Who left the negotiating table? Who broke the negotiating table? Who set the negotiating room on fire? It was them. So this is a lie on top of a lie every day,

    Rouhani said

In a tweet in early June, US President Donald Trump urged Iran to make a deal with America.

Since 2018, when Trump exited Iran’s 2015 nuclear deal with six powers, Washington has reimposed sanctions to throttle Iran’s oil exports as part of a “maximum pressure” policy.

The United States says its aim is to force Tehran to agree a broader deal that puts stricter limits on its nuclear work, curbs its ballistic missile program, and ends its regional proxy wars.

Iran has long said it will not negotiate as long as sanctions remain in place.”

  11. Germany arrests Syria doctor accused of torturing prisoners
    https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/20200623-germany-arrests-syria-doctor-accused-of-torturing-prisoners/

“German authorities have arrested Syrian Doctor Alaa Mousa over accusations he committed crimes of torture in Syria while he was working as an intelligence agent for the regime, international news agencies reported yesterday.

The German federal prosecutors said in a statement reported by Al Jazeera that Mousa is accused of having “tortured a detainee … in at least two cases” at a prison run by Syrian intelligence services in the city of Homs in 2011.

According to the statement, Mousa was told to help a detainee who suffered from epilepsy and who had been jailed after taking part in a protest against the regime.

He beat the man to the ground with a plastic pipe and then kicked him, the statement said.

The next day, Mousa returned with another doctor and beat the victim until he died, the statement said, noting that the cause of death is unclear.

In 2015, Mousa left Syria and moved to Germany, where he worked as a doctor.

Syrian activists and human rights groups contributed in collecting witness reports related to the torture carried out by Mousa and handed them over to the German Public Prosecution.”

  14. Turkey ‘neutralizes’ 6 YPG/PKK terrorists in N.Iraq
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/turkey/turkey-neutralizes-6-ypg-pkk-terrorists-in-niraq/1887468

“Turkish security forces “neutralized” at least six PKK terrorists in northern Iraq, the National Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

The ministry said on Twitter that the terrorists were neutralized in the Zap and Avasin-Basyan regions in air-backed operations.

Turkish authorities often use the word “neutralize” to imply the terrorists in question surrendered or were killed or captured.

PKK terrorists often use northern Iraq – across the Turkish border – to plan terrorist attacks in Turkey.

The airstrikes come amid Turkey’s Operations Claw-Tiger and Claw-Eagle in northern Iraq, launched last week to ensure the safety of the Turkish people and borders by neutralizing the threat of the PKK and other terrorist groups.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and EU – has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants.”

  15. PKK uses EU as a base for propaganda, recruitment activities: Report
    https://www.aa.com.tr/en/turkey/pkk-uses-eu-as-a-base-for-propaganda-recruitment-activities-report-/1887518

“The PKK terror group continues using European Union’s territory for propaganda, recruitment, fundraising and logistical support activities, according to a report by EU’s law enforcement agency released on Tuesday.

The Europol’s annual terrorism report suggested that the PKK actively engaged in propaganda activities as well as collecting money in European countries such as Belgium, Germany and Romania.

“Members and sympathisers of the PKK continued to be involved in legal and illegal activities to raise funds in order to support the group and its affiliates,” the report said.

Several European countries informed Europol that the group was also involved in serious and organised criminal activities, according to the report.

Last year, sympathizers of the terror group vandalized mosques and shops belonging to the Turkish community in Germany. Such incidents were also reported in Belgium and Switzerland.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK — listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and European Union — has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people.

Europol’s report also said that the far-left DHKP-C members continued to use EU states as a logistical base to support the group’s operations in Turkey.

“Legally established associations are used as cover for some of these illegal structures. Austria arrested a Turkish member of DKHP-C, based on a European Arrest Warrant issued by Greece,” the report noted.

The DHKP-C is responsible for a number of terror attacks in Turkey, including a 2013 attack on the US Embassy in Ankara, which martyred a Turkish security guard. The group is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU.”

  16. Hungary, Poland, Czechia, and Slovakia are islands of peace as violence spreads in Western Europe
    https://rmx.news/article/article/hungary-poland-czechia-and-slovakia-are-islands-of-peace-as-political-violence-spreads-in-western-europe

“The spread of violence in the Western world shows that their social model is failing while the Visegrád countries are becoming a model for peace and stability, writes Magyar Hírlap columnist Mariann ?ry.

“I also see that law enforcement and police are on the streets and yet there is a wave of violence. Statues are being toppled, the conditions are deplorable, and there are gang wars on the beautiful streets of small towns in civilized Western European countries,” Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said Orbán said in a radio interview this past Friday. “I look at the countries of those who are advising us how to conduct our lives properly and on good governance, proper operation of democracy, and I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.”

The day after Orbán’s remarks, there was a terrorist attack in Reading, England and mass street violence in Stuttgart, Germany after a drug search conducted by police.

Every time we mention the new normal that has emerged as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, we should remember that Western Europe has for some time had its own “new normal”: parallel societies, ghettos, no-go zones, terrorism, and looting. This is exactly the new normal that Central Europe has no desire to follow.

The successes of the anti-immigration parties of the right are a good indication that even in Western Europe there are many who feel that the decades-long social experiment there has failed once and for all. Sweden, for example is euphemistically speaking about “vulnerable areas”, where ambulances and firefighters can only enter under armed police guard, or more likely not at all. And yet the country’s decision-makers are adamant in their belief that what is not spoken of, does not exist.

This deplorable state of affairs on Western Europe is a sad enough phenomenon on its own, but what makes it even sadder is the fact the promoters of this new normal want to drag us down with them. Once the 2015 migration crisis arrived, it became obvious that they want to evenly distribute the problem across Europe. Point in case: The compulsory migrant intake quota and the U.N.’s migration pact, although not mandatory, are both issues that keep popping up in other unrelated international documents.

Part of the Western European liberal elite’s brainwashing campaign is a drive to make us accept that their way of being European is the only acceptable way. It is the pursuit for a generalized European identity, where is no place for other identities, such as a Hungarian one. And while those in our region who accept their views may be treated with sympathy by the West, the truth is that they still have an utter contempt for us.

This becomes clear when they keep maintaining that our region is only a beneficiary of Western funds but will not follow the rule of law, while in reality we have opened our markets and should not be considered secondary citizens.

But the bad news for the progressive figthers for the “new normal” is that Central Europe — and the Visegrád group of Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia within it — have become both an unavoidable presence and attractive, safe countries even for Westerners. That is because our normality is the true European identity, not the one they present with their distorted ideals.”

  17. Greece: Lesbos island residents grow fearful of migrants over looting and property destruction
    https://rmx.news/article/article/greece-lesbos-island-residents-grow-fearful-of-migrants-over-looting-and-property-destruction

“Inhabitants of the village of Afalonas on the island of Lesbos are at the mercy of illegal immigrants who have looted estates, slaughtered animals, and destroyed properties, according to the head of the small village, Costas Kourogenis.

According to Nea tis Lesvou online daily, in April, the situation has gone so far that one of the locals was injured by illegal migrants who entered his property.

“The first house on the outskirts of the village is 700 meters away from the Moria migrant camp. People only hear what is happening in [the town of] Moria, but our village has suffered the same fate for about a year now,” the village leader, Kourogenis, told Nea tis Lesvou.

With no sign that the dismal situation will improve any time in the future, locals fear that more of them might become victims of migrants from the nearby refugee camp.

“Residents are now afraid to spend the night in their own home,” said Kourogenis.

“There are villagers sleeping with rifles and others who have shot in the air when migrants were found inside their properties. I am very afraid that if this uncontrollable situation continues, unpleasant events will happen again,” fears the head of the Afalonas village.

Other parts of the island are equally affected by the presence of the migrants as well. In April, near the city of Mytilene, migrants chopped 5,000 olives trees, dealing a major blow to the local economy, Voice of Europe reported.

However, there have been many more incidents. For example, the Saint Catherine church in the small town of Moria was trashed and defecated on by illegal immigrants. The church has then been restored thanks to volunteers who dedicated themselves to returning it to its original state.

Since 2015, when illegal immigrants began to arrive in Lesbos in large numbers, many more churches were vandalized.

The Hungarian government has responded to the church desecrations by donating €30,000 to Greece through the Hungary Helps program to aid in rebuilding religious structures targeted by migrants on Lesbos and other islands.

Adding to the tense atmosphere on the Greek islands like Lesbos have been incidents this involving migrants routinely battling with police and have even cases of repeated arson, including migrants who have repeatedly set fire to their own migrant camps during protests — often in an effort to force authorities to move them off the islands and on to the European mainland.

There have also been fears of Greek islanders suffering from increased exposure to coronavirus due to outbreaks in the Greek migrant camps.

Residents of the Greek islands hosting thousands of migrants have held frequent protests against the influx of migrants, but the Greek government has struggled to stem the crisis.”
